What is the definition of fitness? ‘Fitness is the ability to meet the demands of the environment’  Fitness is divided into two areas, can you remember them? Health related fitness Skill related fitness
Health Related Fitness Is activity undertaken with specific focus on improving the bodily systems in order to improve a persons health  ,[object Object]
Endurance
Flexibility
Strength ,[object Object]
 To each of the fitness components add a sporting example of a situation when that component is vital ,[object Object]
Endurancethe ability of the muscle to work for long periods of time without tiring
Flexibility the range of motion at a joint
StrengthThe force muscles exert when they contract
Cardiovascular Fitness the heart's ability to deliver blood to working muscles and their ability to use it
Skill Related Fitness Important in performing the more technical aspects of many sports Power Co-ordination Balance Agility Reaction Time Speed
PowerA combination of strength and speed.
Co-ordination The ability to move your body parts smoothly and accurately in response to what your senses tell you
Balancethe ability to control the body's position, either stationary or while moving
Agilitythe ability to change direction quickly and accurately
Reaction  Time the time it takes you to respond to a stimulus
Speed  Is the ability to perform a movement or cover a distance in a short period of time
Task 2  Design a table for your chosen sport and explain the health and skill related fitness aspects needed.
