Designing A Mini Models Of Ourselves
I squinted as the bright, afternoon sun was peeped through the window where it was not covered
with art projects. There were drawing of flowers, cars, Disney princesses, and basketballs all around
the art room.
"Ok class, today we are going to make mini models of ourselves," Mr. Bushier said as he brought
out supplies. We all excitedly scurried towards the table with colored paper neatly placed in stacks. I
took a tanish and brown colored paper and tried to cut it out to be the shape of my face. It did not
look like a head at all, and then I realized that I forgot the neck. Frustrated, I crumpled it up and
threw it away. Just like the next piece of paper and the next. After I repeated this multiple times, I
finally got it.
Then, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a break from school, and when I paint it is the only thing I think about. Sometimes I give my
paintings as a gift. This is mostly for close family members, like my grandfather. My grandfather
worked for a forest organization before he retired. He loves animals, plants and nature in general.
Most of my family lives in India, and we go to visit once in awhile. Three years ago, before we went
to visit him I worked on a painting of a lion cub. The painting had a bright sap green background
with a orangish brown cub. The cub had big, silvery, gray eyes that sparkled in the light. It took me
two months to finish it with school and other activities. Then I neatly wrapped it up and placed it my
suitcase. I couldn 't wait to give it to him. Grandparents like whatever you do no matter how it is.
For them it is the thought that counts. Just hearing I did this for him made his eyes light up with joy.
When I showed it to him he was really excited and knew exactly where to put it. Now, it hangs on
the door of a creamy white cupboard in my grandpa's room. It is the first thing that can be seen
when you open the bedroom door. Once I started seriously trying to learn how to new techniques,
my parents encouraged me to take art lessons. Every year my teacher held an art gallery. For that,
she encouraged her students to have at least one piece they want to showcase. My piece was a

Essay on Custom Painting Cars
The first thing you see when you get into the car, and the last thing you see when you get out.
Painting cars is an art, from stock to custom paint there is a lot of possibilities and techniques.
Something some people don't pay attention to and some people its the first thing they look at, and
some people make their living by painting cars. In this research paper i will talk about painting and
certain various types of custom painting techniques. Painting a car is a good way to make it unique
and special to you. When you go to buy a car, whether at a car lot or from someone else you will
notice the cars paint job. It may be a solid colour or something a little special and unique. At the
surface it may just look like a solid color but in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Polishing helps the paint shine and helps it better protect the paint. Never wash a car after painting
make sure to buff it and polish before you wash it.
When it comes to custom painting Two Tone is one of the most used. Two tone paint jobs are used
on a lot of factory cars but usually separated with moldings. Two tone is where the bottom of the car
is one color and the top is another. When doing custom painting you can do more than just two tones
you can do three tones or even four tones. Alot of times people separate the colors by a pin strip so
that the colors don't look like to walls of color, the pin strip helps carry your eye without realizing
the strip is there.
When you are going to do two tone you must mask off the part you are not painting and spray the
color on the first part, this is usually the bottom first. Once what you have sprayed dryer you will
mask over it leaving the unsprayed area to view. Then you spray the next color of choice. Once the
last layer has dried take the paper off the panel and clear over the whole thing. If you plan to spray a
Strip in between you can must do this before clear coating the hole panel. Wood Grain is something
that was started a long time ago with wood grain cars. Painting wood grain is a good way to bring
back that vintage wood grain look. There are many ways to do wood grain and here are some. One
of the most used ways is to spray a brown then your base color over it, take your finger and

Personal Narrative: The Art Of Watercolor
The last medium I dabbled in was watercolors. Watercolor was a type of medium that my
grandfather absolutely despised, so he did not do any art with me for this medium. I only used this
medium for around a week or so before I was told to begin my final project. This would be the only
medium that I would call a fail out of all of them. I did do one watercolor painting, but I did not
know that there was a special type of paper for watercolors. Instead of watercolor paper I used
regular white paper and this paper warped. I chose to do a picture of a foot bridge on a calendar, it
turned out alright but it was my first attempt of watercolor and the big mistake was just type of
paper that I had used. A few times I continued to practice my drawing ... Show more content on

First, like always I worked on the background. I had to put down a base and then work on it next
time I met up with my grandfather because it was not dry. I realized that the color of my background
was off, so I painted it a darker green compared to its original blue–ish green background. I then had
to wait again for the paint to dry and then started to create different shades of green and white to put
onto the background as leaves. It looked alright, but I think that I am going to work on it some more
later to polish it up a bit. At this time I had also created a skin color that I did not want to go to waste
so I began to paint in my brother and decided to just color over his whole face instead of going
around it. My grandfather then told me that I should paint around the details of the face so I do not
have to use the graphite technique again. So I listened and I preserved all the faces on the painting
except my brother's. I later transferred my brother's face back

A Blessing And A Curse
The lights shine brightly onto the stage, illuminating the fact that there is a figure standing in the
center. A microphone stands in the front of the stage, centered, casting shadows to the right and left.
While an instrumental background starts playing, the figure steps up towards the microphone, and a
beautiful voice begins to sing. The lights focus on the figure that has now shown as being a young
woman in a beautiful silvery–white floor length dress. That is the benefit of the passion of the arts
that a person can get if they set their mind to it. Setting one 's mind to getting to the stage of being
famous, however, is not common because the pure will of a person is not strong enough to pursue
such a passion. This is because the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That would always make me laugh and giggle to myself. When the song was over we would do the
same thing to the next one and so on. That was the day I started into the passion of the arts, since
then, music and art have not been the same.
The arts are a passion the gives multiple benefits. For me, one benefit is that the arts allowed me to
see my true potential. I remember truly realizing my potential, where it basically slapped me in the
face, was the night of the 'Westfield ' themed concert at Westfield Academy and Central School in
2016. As with every concert I had to be there at 6:00 pm, this time was different however, because
this time I had to sing a solo to a song that was written by a past Westfield student who also
happened to be the chorus teacher 's daughter, and would be sitting the audience waiting to hear the
high school chorus strut their stuff. The choir started singing, including me, and when we get to my
song, 'Untouchable ' by Lucy Knappenberger, I walked over to the mic in the center. Mr.
Knappenberger, or Mr. K as he was called for simplicity sake, began playing the intro to the song,
and he nodded his head when I was to come in, and I come in right on time with the exact right note,
and with perfect breath support for the phrase "When she was young she was taught right from
wrong." With no sound in the entire auditorium but

Reflection of René Treviño's Exhibition, Axial Precessions
René Treviño was born in 1972 in Kingsville, Texas and currently lives and works in Baltimore,
Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York, as
well as his Master in Fine Arts from the Maryland College of Art. He is currently represented by the
C. Grimaldis Gallery in Baltimore, and had an exhibition from January 29, 2014–March 8, 2014
entitled Axial Precessions, hosted by the C. Grimaldis Gallery. The C. Grimaldis Gallery has a bit of
history standing behind it. It was established in 1977 by Consantine Grimaldis and is the longest
operating art gallery in the Baltimore City area. The gallery hosts exhibitions featuring American
and European artists and works from the Post World War II, contemporary, and modern eras. The
gallery has very high ceilings with white painted walls and pale wood flooring, allowing the artwork
to "speak for itself" on display and to limit distractions to the viewers. It's a very airy and
comfortable place to be in, and it takes on a beautiful aura when displaying René Treviño's artwork
in particular. The name Axial Precessions did not come right away to Treviño's mind as a name for
the collection, it instead came to him later on. The term itself refers to astrological bodies and their
rotation as caused by forces of gravity, and René felt it best described this series of paintings. The
collection on display features a series of paintings inspired by historical art, astrology, and patterns.

Design Constraints: CO2 Dragster Car
Recently in 4th hour Technology systems, we designed, built, and raced our CO2 dragster cars. We
were given the opportunity to (within preset design constraints) design and create racing dragsters to
compete on the track. For my design, I decided that the simpler the design, the more aerodynamic it
would be. I didn't have any prior experience with this, so my design decision was nearly a shot in
the dark. My first design was too big to fit on the wedge of wood that we worked with so I had to
modify the design by making the top more curved and as a result, the car was shorter than I had
originally planned it to be. After the design was complete, we cut out the outlines and taped them
onto foam wedges that were the same size as the wooden wedges that we would use later. Then we

She used a mixture of oil paint and acrylic paint to paint half of the car with blue flames and half of
the car with the traditional red/orange ones. She spent a lot of time on it and it was clear just by
looking at it. The detail was amazing and it took several days to dry due to the sheer number of
layers she had to apply to procure the look. She also designed her car to have a chunk out of the car
in order to increase aerodynamic qualities and its overall speed. She made the base coat black and
painted on top of it. When she painted it, she did the base coat here and the details at her house over
the weekend.
After racing our dragsters I came up with a few modifications that would increase the speed of my
car. First off, I could have sanded it better and made it a true shell car by making the shape more
curved. Secondly, I could have hollowed out the bottom in order to reduce the car's overall weight.
Thirdly, I could have made the car smaller length wise in another attempt to decrease the overall
weight. Finally, fourthly, I could have given the car a sleeker and smoother paint job to reduce

My Purpose Of Art
PAINTING
When you're afraid of making mistakes, but do so anyway... when you allow yourself time to fix
those mistakes–that is when you succeed.
I use art as a form of escape. At least, that was its initial purpose. It didn't matter that I wasn't good
(because I was, like, 5). Art made me happy and so I simply continued to make it. I took every art
course that my school allowed me to and the few years when they didn't offer one were torture for
my small self. Years later, with permission from my art instructor, I skipped an art course and took
AP Studio Art (a senior class) during my junior year. This was the first time that I had the freedom
to create whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. My artistry improved drastically alongside my
enthusiasm for learning new skills. I went from drawing with pencil to painting with acrylics and
watercolors, drawing digitally, sculpting, and even making jewelry. It was like I discovered my
passion all over again. Art started to become something more to me, and soon I had dreams of
becoming an artist. However, it wasn't until I went to Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) over the
summer before my senior year that I truly grasped the struggle of becoming an artist. Throughout
my whole life, I only thought of art as a necessity; I needed it to stay calm, happy, and organized.
But in just three weeks, I realized that the fundamentals of art posed questions that, to me, were on
the scale of dinosaurs, aliens, Greek mythology, and even

The Towers Of Babylon Summary
"The Towers of Babylon", by Shirley Ye, consists of 4 watercolour and acrylic paintings, as well as
2 relief sculptures. The abstract (meaning, relating to reality, however has been distorted to appear
unreal) works of the series, speak about the dangers of urbanisation, references to the biblical tower
of Babylon as well as the quote, "the higher you build, the greater you fall" (Edwin Almeida). This
artwork as a series, will be the main focus of this review.
The series mainly comprise of watercolour and acrylic paint (paintings), paper photographs, wood,
metal and human figurines (sculptures). The 4 canvas paintings all display a theme of spaced out
areas, as well as areas that are tightly packed with layered lines/dots of paint. The sculptures
however, are built to appear tall and unstable for the human figurines that are placed standing close
behind one another. In addition, the sculptures consist of "angled/protruding" photographs of city
environments and metal bird cages. Across the six artworks, the tone and colours contrast through
bright, warm tones, to cold and dark shades, possibly to convey both positive and negative aspects
of urbanisation, and the reasoning (to find better jobs, education, etc) behind urbanisation.
The artist explains the artworks are made to display the dangers of urbanisation and make references
to disasters such as the fallen towers 9/11, Rana Plaza and Grenfell Tower. Shirley does this in her
artworks through symbolic meaning in the

Descriptive Essay About Manahatta
As I was looking through the never–ending list of artists on the PBS program "Art21," there was
only one name that really captured my attention. That name was Marela Zacarías. I think one of the
main reasons as to why I was so intrigued to click on this artist was because her name sounded
Spanish and being Hispanic has always been something I have been proud of. What made my choice
even better was when I selected on Marela Zacarías's name and began reading I found out she was
Mexican just like me. At that point, there was no doubt I was going to do this assignment based off
one of her artworks. When I began researching Zacarías and her art, I was hoping to love her work.
Not only did I end up enjoying most of her art but ended up loving the piece called Mannahatta.
Without a doubt, it became one of my favorite sculptures right away.
As stated by the Brooklyn Art Council, Zacarías was awarded a lobby commission at the William
Vale Hotel in Williamsburg in 2015 (Marela). It turns out Zacarías found out she was pregnant the
same week she ended up finding out she got the commission. According to Marela Zacarías's
website, Mannahatta was made in 2016 (Mannahatta). This sculpture is considered a "site–specific
art," meaning it is only meant to be for one place only, so there are no other Mannahatta in any other
locations. As it states on the Marela Zacarías's website the piece was made from "wood, window
screen, plaster, acrylic polymer and acrylic paint and is sized at 25' x 20'

Descriptive Essay On Bob Ross
"The secret to doing anything is believing that you can do it. Anything that you believe you can do
strong enough, you can do. Anything. As long as you believe." This is one of the many inspirational
things I have heard Bob Ross say on his show, "The Joy Of Painting." Bob Ross is one of the most
beloved American painters and is known by thousands of people across the world. His show was all
about teaching his viewers how to paint and enjoy themselves while doing it. However, many of us
tuned into the show not to paint, but to just listen to his calming voice and watch him form a
masterpiece on a blank canvas. It is crazy to watch all the things he can do with a brush. He is also
known for using the "wet–on–wet" painting technique which he learned from his mentor William
Alexander. This is the process of putting oil paints directly on top of one another to create complete
paintings in less than an hour. Bob Ross practiced this so much that he got it down to under 30
minutes for his show.
His painting style is very different than mine, but I still love to watch and learn new things that I can
experiment with in my style of painting. He accomplished many things in life, including finishing
over 30,000 paintings and touching the hearts of millions of people while doing that. More recently,
he has become very popular on social media, with over 67,000 followers on his Twitter fan page and
over a million views on his YouTube painting videos. His love of painting has been brought

The problem itself is not one that can be fixed in a few nights, what has been done to the spheres is
almost irreversible with a few exceptions. The severity of this problem isn't one that can completely
alter the way we live but at the same time every action has an equal opposite reaction. Due to the
frequency of the emissions the spheres can be greatly impacted. Many people have been affected by
these emissions and most of the illnesses given to these people are very damaging or terminal. On
average every 3–7 years a building is repainted and depending on the size of the building many
VOCs are released. As well as the frequent times the inside of the buildings are repainted and just
creating artwork. Also VOC emissions are two to five times higher indoors than outdoors which just
increase the amount released in the end. All of this contributes to the severity of this problem on the
soul fact that paint emission happen so frequently.

I found that the VOC free paint though more expensive still worked as regular paint would. Another
downfall to buying the VOC free paint was there wasn't as many color options because VOC free
paint is not as popular as regular paint so this made my project more challenging in finding the right
colors and being able to mix them. Whereas if it was just regular acrylic paint I would be able to buy
just the regular colors without having to mix as much as the VOC free paint. So all–in–all the VOC
free paint did its job not polluting the environment but it was more expensive than regular acrylic
paint. And acrylic paint by itself is already expensive, so I would not recommend buying VOC
acrylic paint to just use and instead use an air purifier that way you're not spending as much money
in the long run and still get the better

Paint Pigment Essay
The History of Paint Pigments
Chem 111–404
April 24, 2013
Introduction:
This report expresses five different pigments that were formed during chemical reactions. Three out
of the total five reactions went through a metathesis, or double–replacment reaction. A metathesis
reaction can be defined as "a chemical reaction in which an element or radical in one compound
exchanges places with another element or radical in another compound." (Webster). The other two
pigments underwent a neutralization reaction, which is "A reaction between an acid and a base that
yields a salt and water." (Webster). In both types of reaction two substances are being combined to
form a new solution. The metathesis reaction produces a solution and a ... Show more content on

The first half was filtered and stored for the completion of the experiment, while the other half was
stored for a week, unfiltered. The next week the unfiltered solution in beaker was filtered and set
aside for another week.
The fifth, and final pigment, was Prussian blue. One milliliter of 0.5 M iron (III) chloride was
measured into a test tube. Then, 0.25 M solution of potassium ferrocyanide was mixed in. They
were then filtered, and left to dry. The next week there were four paint binding options: egg
tempura, casein, acrylic, and water color or gum arabic. This experiment used watercolor. The first
step was to grind the pigment with water to make a stiff paste. Then, gum Arabic was added in a 1:1
ratio.
Results:
The data produced from the experiment demonstrates that when two solutions are mixed, they
undergo a reaction that produces a pigmented or colored precipitate and also a liquid. The
precipitate produced then can be fashioned into paint. In the first pigment, chrome yellow was
produced. The yellow sodium chromate combined with the clear zinc sulfate created an orange
liquid and a yellow precipitate. This is a metathesis reaction that causes the solution to be
neutralized. The addition of sodium hydroxide causes the solution to become more basic. After the
solution was filtered it created a yellow solid, and when the precipitate was crushed up and gum
Arabic was it created a yellow

The Development of Many Colors Essay
As far back as the stone age men have looked for ways to share their lives and beliefs through art.
Primitive drawings have been found in caves in Europe, Asia and Africa. The only thing missing
was color to make the drawings more lifelike. By experimenting with plants, berries and minerals,
men have developed beautiful colors that have been improved until we have the tempera, oils,
acrylic and watercolor that artists use today. Tempera is the oldest paint medium known to man.
Powered minerals, plants or clay were used for pigment and egg yolks were used as a binder.
Sometimes, artists mixed the tempera with plaster to make frescoes on walls. Tempera paint is long
lasting and does not change color over time like oils. The colors are ... Show more content on

He could not get the effect he wanted with the paint that was available at that time. He began to mix
oil with his colors to thin the paint and slow down the drying time. This allowed him to add more
shading and detail to his paintings(About.comPainting). Today's oil paint is a mixture of
pigment(color), a binder which is usually linseed oil and a thinner which is usually turpentine(Oil
Paint History). It was very hard to keep paint fresh during the early days of art. Before the
nineteenth century artist or their assistants were required to mix fresh batches of paint every day.
Then "colormen" began selling ready–made paint in pig bladders. Artists had to punch a hole in the
bladder to get the paint out and they put a tack in the hole to reseal it. In 1822 James Hams, an
English artist, invented a glass syringe with a plunger to force the paint out. Finally, in 1841 the
American artist John Goffe Rand invented and patented the squeezable tube with a twist cap. Today
this invention is not only used for paint, it is also used for toothpaste, ointment, creams,
etc(About.comPainting). Acrylic resin was invented by Dr. Otto Rohm in the 1930's. By the 1950's
Liquite began offering water soluble artist acrylic paint(ARTmine). It is a fast drying paint. In her
book "Brave Intuitive Painting" Flora Bowley explains that acrylics come in both heavy–bodied and
fluid paint. The heavy–bodied paints are opaque and are

I stand on the dense carpeted floor barefoot. My toes curl and uncurl through the fibers as I bounce

cadmium red acrylic paint. The canvas in front of me is half bare and waiting for me to add more
color. I dip my brush in my paint cup. It is an old thick plastic cup permanently stained with various
other paints after years of use. I enjoy how worn it is though. It shows how long I have been
painting and feels almost like an art piece in itself. Holding the very end of the brush handle I
roughly add the watery red paint just above the center of the canvas. It drips down onto an old
trifold I always place underneath my easel for that very reason. I fill in the roughly drawn lips on the
canvas. I wipe the wet brush on my thighs, since I do not want to ruin a towel. I switch it around in

Art Reflection
As soon as I walked into the Norton Simon Museum of Art, I was lost. The last time I had been
there was several years ago, and even then, I hadn't really paid enough attention to the art. I took a
quick glance through the large double doors leading to the sculpture garden, then went to get my
ticket. I sat down with a map for a short while, putting my thoughts together and figuring out which
way I would have to go, in order to find the time periods and art styles that I was looking for. I
walked in with a mindset that this trip would be quick, but I was proven wrong. I walked back and
forth between the rooms exhibiting 17th and 18th century art, but I couldn't seem to choose the
correct piece. Finally, I noticed a painting to my right that just flew off the page in my perspective.
As soon as I saw the royal blue tints, I knew that I had to study this painting, since blue is my
favorite color, and also because this painting was gorgeous. I walked up to the golden frame and
stared at this painting for a couple of minutes, noting all the important characteristics. The main
aspect that caught my eye was the use of dark colors, especially blues and greens, that should have
made the image look heavy and dark, but actually helped display a bright portrait. The softness of
the woman's face was illustrated so intensely, and it really convinced me to stop, sit down, and
analyze the portrait. I was looking at the Portrait of Theresa, Countess Kinsky, which was painted by

Pit And Fissure Sealant Research Paper
Lauren Yant Sealant Reflection Paper April 27, 2015 "A pit and fissure sealant is an organic polymer
that flows into the pit or fissure and bonds to the enamel surface mainly by mechanical retention
when the acid etch process precedes the application of the sealant material" (Wilkins, 2013, p.543).
According to Esther Wilkins, sealants are a part of a total preventative program, but are not
substitutes for other preventative measures (Wilkins, 2013, p.550). Pit and fissure sealants have been
around since 1895, but were not commercially available until 1972 (Harris, 2013, p. 274). Sealants
should be placed on any teeth that have pits and fissures, which are the premolars and molars. The
sealants may be placed on primary or permanent dentition as well. Sealants should not be placed on
partially erupted teeth, teeth with "sticky" pit and fissures, teeth with stained pits and fissures, or
decayed/cavitated teeth ("Pit and fissure sealants in the prevention of dental caries in children and
adolescents: a systematic review", 2008). Pit and fissure sealants are indicated for patients, of any
age, that has a high caries risk. Risks that can increase dental caries are xerostomia, orthodontics, or
incipient caries (Wilkins, 2013, p.544). Sealants are a cost effective preventative measure ... Show

Trolls, Sexism And Women Online
While doing the presentation on the topic of trolls, sexism and women online, there are few learning

conflict between two sides of the voice.
The example we used in the presentation is Lushsux who is a boundary–pushing street artist drew
Hillary Clinton wearing swimsuit with stars–and–stripes print on a wall in Footscray West. He asked
for permission from the local business owner before he do the mural. After Lushsux publish the

local government started to said it is offensive to draw a "nearly–naked" women. Then Lushsux

sexist, racist, Islam phobic, xenophobic, uncultured and ignorant bigot." No matter how Lushsux
change the mural, the local council ask the shop owner to clear it up within 10 days. At the end, the
mural has to paint back into all black then problem is solved.

My Cultural Identity
I'm a 15 year old Latina that haven't yet came across to knowing what my culture identity is. The
only thing I know about myself is that I grew up drawing. Another thing I also know is that I always
get mistaken with being a filipino or White. No one really knows what race I am. Only I know
because I know where I come from. I'm not really expecting myself to know myself because I still
got a long way to figure out who I am going to become, but for a fact I know I wanna improve
myself everyday and not get bitter. Since the only thing I know about myself is that I enjoy Art i'm
going to talk about how that identifies with my culture identity. Art is something that defines me
because I have always done it since a very young age. I enjoy Art because it's a broad topic it isn't
just one thing that I like about it. It's more like everything about Art that I enjoy, for example one of
them is drawings. I like to draw from people to objects. I like how you can shade and erase, I like
how you can add charcoal which is one of my favorite things to use when I draw overall you can
just make it your own drawing; make it unique that only you know why you drew it the way you
did. I also like how drawings don't have to be perfect to be a good drawing, because their isn't such
thing as good drawing and bad drawing in my perspective and opinion. After all, I like drawing
because I like the feeling after finishing a drawing and feeling like I accomplished with something
and how drawings can be

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Acrylic Paints
Characteristics of Acrylics
Not all acrylic paints are created equal. Some manufacturers offer cheaper versions by substituting
their paints with synthetic pigments which is likely to result in less color intensity and lower
permanence rating.
PERMANENCE
This refers to the pigment's ability to resist gradual fading specifically when exposed to light. Others
call it "lightfastness". Pigments will eventually fade over time and they are called fugitive colors.
Artists prefer acrylic paints over water color because acrylic usually have higher permanence rating.
When selecting paint, look for the lightfastness rating on the tube or jar of the paint.
DRYING TIME – most artists prefer acrylic paints over oil–based paints as they dry quickly.
However, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every color has a limit on how much you can make them lighter also known as the tinting strength.
Dark colors apparently, have higher tinting strength since they are dark and have more room to be
lightened.
You may consider tinting a color in your painting for a highlight effect as if the sun is touching that
certain area or object.
SHADING
The opposite of tinting is shading wherein you will add black color to a lighter acrylic color to make
it darker. Be sure to add only small amount of black color to test the result.
Shading is usually done when painting shadow or folds in a fabric such as clothing. Choose the most
natural looking shade to achieve a natural shaded look.
TONING
Basically, mixing color is a trial and error process which could be frustrating for beginners. Through
constant exercises, you will improve your mixing skills. Toning refers to the process of adding white
and black color to come up with a toned version of a certain color.
To learn more about the characteristics and versatility of the acrylic paint, it is good to attend

8th Grade Project Report: The Goal
The Goal– In life we all have goals, whether those be short term or long term goals. We set goals
because we as humans like to feel accomplished. There are many more reason for setting goals, one
more reason is to show how hard your work ethic is. For this project I had a lot of goals. Some I
know I will achieve and some I know I won't. Even some of these goals they won't come out like
how I pictured it in my head. Some of my early on goals were to create a paper mache animal and
paint it. This project will help me with getting better at art, I think I am good, but paper mache I
needed work on and this project helps. I will evaluate my success by how my final turns out. I want
my final draft to look like a dog,(mainly a Bassett hound), with a food bowl, and some toys. I have
many standards and expectations I want to reach for. I have planned every little detail in my head of
what it should turn out like. Setting these goals has really got me close to the picture in my head.
Doing this project will help me become a better artist and thinker. Those were my goals in this
project.
Selection of sources– Finding sources for my project was easier than I thought it would be. Other
than my mentor, a art teacher, one of the main sources I used were online sources, mainly

Essay on The Art of Painting: Watercolor Paints
The art of painting dates back to pre–historic times, the finger used as a paintbrush on the canvas of
cave walls. When it comes to painting, artists have many mediums to choose from: acrylics, oils,
gouache, fresco, and watercolors. Watercolors is one of the toughest mediums to achieve, its
transparent streaks almost impossible to cover up and its various techniques prestigous and precise,
but satisfying when accomplished. The incentive a watercolor artist has to get a taste of perfecting
their talents is impecable; therefore, striving for perfection can only be accomplished with the
understanding of the watercolor history, the use of the tools of the trade, the practice of techniques,
and observation of former artists' approaches. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the late 1800s, watercolor influenced many countries and artists. A chain reaction happened – the
work of English artists inspired French watercolorists and the impressionist movement, causing
German expressionists to impact the artists of the United States. Therefore, the watercolor medium
remained popular throughout the 1800s and among artists in the 20th century. (Mules) As of today,
watercolor is still strongly used by many artists around the world.
The one thing that makes watercolors the least expensive medium is the amount of supplies needed
to get started, which consists of only the essentials: paints, paintbrushes, watercolor paper, a pallete,
and water. Because of its need of just the bare necessities, this makes watercoloring an affordable
pastime. (McArdle) The forms of traditional watercolors are pans and tubes. Furthermore, the
difference between the two is that tubes of paint are already moist, so water isn't required; pans on
the other hand are hard cakes of paint that need water in order to be used. (McArdle) Along with
traditional watercolors, there are two other derived forms of watercolor: tempera and gouache.
Unlike most watercolors, tempera uses a binding agent instead of gum arabic, meaning that they are
made with sizes1. Because of this ingredient, tempera paintings are long–lived. (Steel) Meanwhile,
gouache contains larger

Know the benefits of having acrylic nails through the acrylic nail art
When comes to beautification, women have more options than men do. This is particularly
applicable to nails, as well, when women hit a beauty salon to get their nails decorated. If you are a
woman, thinking about a false nail application, you may have the option to choose between acrylic
nails and gel nails. Although both offer the required beauty to your nails, most women preferred to
decorate their nails through the Acrylic Nail Art. Before decorating your nails with this art, it is quite
helpful if you know the basics of the art.

Painting The Exterior And Interior Of The House
Like Claude Monet, colours may or may not be your "daylong obsession," but as someone receptive
to the subtle tonal changes you are bound to feel the absence of the same in your surrounding most
acutely. For that simple reason, you cannot simply imagine living in a home devoid of colours.
Painting the exterior and interior of the house
To transform your house into an elegant and comfortable home, you need the assistance of many
qualified personnel including professional painters. Professional painters in %{city} play a
significant role in improving the quality and liveability of the newly built structure you are about to
call home.
The necessity of painting the exterior of the house as well as the interior ones is driven by aesthetic
considerations. But that is not the only reason behind opting for professional wall painting. There
are several other benefits that we hardly take a note of. High quality exterior paint increases the life
of the masonry work. Your house becomes better equipped to withstand the elements of nature.
Right colour scheme augments the curb appeal of your house. Colours have considerable social and
cultural impact too. Vibrantly colourful houses typical to St John's in Newfoundland and Labrador
or Lunenburg in Nova Scotia are not so common in other parts of the country. By their colourful
nature you can identify these cities instantly. It would be difficult to imagine a lacklustre building in
middle of St John's and Lunenberg.

Acrylic Paints Advantages And Disadvantages
Acrylic paint is for losers, it could never match with the likes of oil paint. This was a common belief
for any artist during the 20th century. Likewise, paint is a complex medium in the realm of visual
artist; it always strikes an intricate dialogue within artistic domiciles. Who will survive? Oil paint,
the noble, protagonist grease; or Acrylic paint, the economical, underdog wash. Consequently, most
creatives argue between the importance of both mediums, but it genuinely relies on the preference of
the artist; whatever she or he promotes in consideration of the pigment and drying time, expenses
and brands, and "beginners versus professionals" stigmas. Acrylic paint was introduced to the art
world during the 1940s and sold commercially in the 1950s. It was originally considered as a
substitute for oil paints, but not competition. However, as times proceeds, artist saw it as just that.
According to davidlangevin.com, "scientific studies and accelerated aging tests confirm that acrylics
will likely outlast oils in almost every category associated with permanent painting." Acrylic was
made to be easier for the painter, hence the beginner stigma attached. It has bigger pigments, which
makes it thinner and more transparent. Additionally, it is water–based, which allows quicker drying
times and easier cleanups. Based upon the artist, this can be a huge advantage; if the artist creates
quicker, then there is nothing holding the creator back from finishing. The water–based paint

Adjustment Of An Reflective Self Portrait
The result of the expressive self portrait is based off a picture of myself taken outside. In a small
group, we were asked to take as many pictures as we needed to use for this assignment. The lighting
in the variety of pictures may differ depending on where and at what angle we are standing at, so
different pictures in various places were necessary. With these pictures, the best out of all when
changed into high contrast was the one used to paint. With the use of a program that helps with
photoshopping images, I changed my original picture into black and white, which I changed into
high contrast. Adjustments were essential as some features may be lost during this process. This
image was then used to emphasize specific areas of one's face or other parts of the body above the
shoulder to express a personality trait of an individual. In addition, this assignment is called
Expressive Self Portrait, where and how you emphasize a part of yourself as well as the use of
colour is very important. With this photoshopped picture, I used a projector to project the image on a
canvas of my choice and traced the contour of the subject matters within the picture. When the
tracing was done, I could start painting. The goal of this composition is to choose a single colour
scheme and with colours related to that scheme, we were to blend it using acrylic paint. As the
image is a high contrast image, the black areas were asked to be coloured while the white areas
stayed white. When the

Learn and Develop New Painting Skills while Accomplishing...
The goal of my personal project was to learn and develop new painting skills while accomplishing
something that I have always wanted to do. My original plan was to learn all of the functions and
possibilities of the human brain, but I then decided that that was not something I wanted to pursue
and that it wasn't something I could personally connect with. The idea of learning to paint a tree
sprung when I brainstormed on my past ideas and interests, and I decided that that was something I
would like to pursue.
I have always been interested in the art of painting and the detail and effort you should out into it.
When I was in elementary we took a trip to the Toledo Art Museum and I saw a lot of really detailed
paintings and I've always thought it would be cool of I could paint something myself. I have
multiple sketches of trees and doodles, but I thought a painting would be way more in depth. I have
always just found trees interesting, possibly because they serve purposes ranging from giving us
fresh oxygen to being a spot to swing from as a child.
My topic links closet to the Approaches to Learning category. It links to this are the best because I
am attempting to learn how to paint. One of the factors in approaches to learning includes
communication, in order for me to be successful I had to communicate with art teachers in order to

It is a cheerful, acrylic painting created using bold and bright colors made to contrast one another.
Torres used unity and variety with a selection of lines, shapes, and colors. When you first view the
painting, you will notice the directional forces that cause your eyes to view the painting in a
particular order. Staring at the front center, the eyes will follow the path of lines that lead your eyes
over the entire painting. When you take a closer look at the piece, you will begin to notice a
repetition of certain colors and shapes. The painting is also asymmetrically balanced. In my opinion,
the most important Principle of Design used for this piece is contrast. The figure of the woman in
the front is significantly contrasted from the rest of the painting, and she is made to be the focal
point. This piece is representational artwork. It depicts the appearance of a woman and includes
subjects from the everyday world.

How Can You Keep Your Garden?
Gardens are beautiful on their own, but some of us cannot avoid the inclination to accessorize. To
bring your garden to its full potential, you must develop its full aesthetic value. There 's numerous
little projects you can do by yourself or with the family, to add colorful and quirky visual interest
throughout the garden. Mobiles can be made from an array of materials. Since it will be hanging it
outside, make sure the material is waterproof. Foam is a smart choice because it is weather resistant,
malleable, and kid friendly. Foam sheets are very inexpensive and come in most colors. Some foam
comes in precut shapes. They even have foam letters. If the shape you want is available precut, it
will be easier than cutting yourself. Foam is difficult to cut to a smooth edge. Foam sheets often
come pre–glued. If your materials are not, you can use PVA glue or hot glue. You will need to glue
your shapes or light weight trinkets on your string or thread. You may want to consider
incorporating a picture. Foam picture frames are available in most art centers and you could
laminate the picture. This project has an abundance of creative potential. This can create single
strand color burst hanging around your garden. You can do themed pieces for different areas of the
garden. For instance, use bright colors and butterfly shapes to hang in the butterfly garden. Hanging
pieces are important because it keeps visual interest continuing from ground level to eye level.

Analysis Of The Poem ' The Painter ' By John Ashbery
A majority of John Asbury's poems are about the process in which the mind of a person interacts
with the external surroundings. John Asbury has often tried to describe how the human mind
interacts with the natural world. In his poem "The Painter" the poet has also incorporate the diverse
aspect of nature which has been seen through the minds of a painter. Through this poem, the poet
has essentially tried to reach out and understand the deeper aspects of human emotions such as life,
love, loss, alienation, creation, inspiration, reality and perspective. The fact that John Asbury is an
ardent art critic, he is deeply involved and associated with the process of artistic creation and
appreciation which is more so reflected through his poem "The Painter" (Frye 208).
In the poem 'The Painter', the poet John Ashbery describes the artistic creativity in direct conflict
with the demands of today's society. In this poem he expressed how an artist wants to paint the sea
and bring forth a relation between the sea and the buildings of the city. The painter places himself
amidst the nature and the urban concrete jungle and as he expected his work to gain creativity, his
expectations got diminished as he was unable to capture reality of life through his art. He was thus
attempting to create something impossible and remains unsuccessful (Ford 112).
Ashbery considered this desire to be very simple as he compared his ambition to children's prayer.
His contrasts to the painter's expectation

The Works Of Art Have Created With Multiple Mediums
Works of art have been created with multiple mediums throughout the centuries. Oils and watercolor
paints are two popular painting mediums that is widely used by countless artists. Painters such as
Charles Demuth, Thomas Eakins, and Georgia O'Keeffe were rather famous for their watercolor
paintings while William Adolphe Bouguereau, Andy Warhol, and John Lafarge were popular for
their oil paintings. These two paint types, both illustrate ideas, but through differing effects of
whichever paint option used, whether it be watercolors or oil paints. Watercolors are generally
considered loose paints for their flowy pigments that hold a pellucid appearance. Known for being
rather unpredictable, watercolors have gained a somewhat unfortunate reputation amongst the
paints. They drip, and mix together, creating a myriad of colors that will eventually turn gray and
cloudy. But aside from the few mishaps watercolors create, beauty is accomplished after practicing
with the spontaneous paint. Watercolor in particular is a transparent and light medium which allows
light to bounce off of the paper and reflect through the paint. This then creates this light, airy
essence, which is evident in countless watercolor artworks. This transparency is what makes
watercolors stand out from other paintings; as layers of a particular color are added, the richness
intensifies. The versatility of watercolors allows the paint to create different shades and hues without
wasting as much paint as other

turtle shell, wood, fiber, feathers, and shell, and was created in the mid to late 19th century. Intricate

represent the position of each island. The information on the charts were memorized before going
out to sea, and would not be taken on voyages. These charts were known as mattangs, which were
specifically made for the purpose of training people who were selected to be navigators. Each
specific chart would depict general information about swell movements around one or more small
islands. Larger charts, known as rebbelibs, would cover larger sections or even the entirety of the

Designing A Mini Models Of Ourselves

  • 1. Designing A Mini Models Of Ourselves I squinted as the bright, afternoon sun was peeped through the window where it was not covered with art projects. There were drawing of flowers, cars, Disney princesses, and basketballs all around the art room. "Ok class, today we are going to make mini models of ourselves," Mr. Bushier said as he brought out supplies. We all excitedly scurried towards the table with colored paper neatly placed in stacks. I took a tanish and brown colored paper and tried to cut it out to be the shape of my face. It did not look like a head at all, and then I realized that I forgot the neck. Frustrated, I crumpled it up and threw it away. Just like the next piece of paper and the next. After I repeated this multiple times, I finally got it. Then, I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a break from school, and when I paint it is the only thing I think about. Sometimes I give my paintings as a gift. This is mostly for close family members, like my grandfather. My grandfather worked for a forest organization before he retired. He loves animals, plants and nature in general. Most of my family lives in India, and we go to visit once in awhile. Three years ago, before we went to visit him I worked on a painting of a lion cub. The painting had a bright sap green background with a orangish brown cub. The cub had big, silvery, gray eyes that sparkled in the light. It took me two months to finish it with school and other activities. Then I neatly wrapped it up and placed it my suitcase. I couldn 't wait to give it to him. Grandparents like whatever you do no matter how it is. For them it is the thought that counts. Just hearing I did this for him made his eyes light up with joy. When I showed it to him he was really excited and knew exactly where to put it. Now, it hangs on the door of a creamy white cupboard in my grandpa's room. It is the first thing that can be seen when you open the bedroom door. Once I started seriously trying to learn how to new techniques, my parents encouraged me to take art lessons. Every year my teacher held an art gallery. For that, she encouraged her students to have at least one piece they want to showcase. My piece was a scenery of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Essay on Custom Painting Cars The first thing you see when you get into the car, and the last thing you see when you get out. Painting cars is an art, from stock to custom paint there is a lot of possibilities and techniques. Something some people don't pay attention to and some people its the first thing they look at, and some people make their living by painting cars. In this research paper i will talk about painting and certain various types of custom painting techniques. Painting a car is a good way to make it unique and special to you. When you go to buy a car, whether at a car lot or from someone else you will notice the cars paint job. It may be a solid colour or something a little special and unique. At the surface it may just look like a solid color but in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Polishing helps the paint shine and helps it better protect the paint. Never wash a car after painting make sure to buff it and polish before you wash it. When it comes to custom painting Two Tone is one of the most used. Two tone paint jobs are used on a lot of factory cars but usually separated with moldings. Two tone is where the bottom of the car is one color and the top is another. When doing custom painting you can do more than just two tones you can do three tones or even four tones. Alot of times people separate the colors by a pin strip so that the colors don't look like to walls of color, the pin strip helps carry your eye without realizing the strip is there. When you are going to do two tone you must mask off the part you are not painting and spray the color on the first part, this is usually the bottom first. Once what you have sprayed dryer you will mask over it leaving the unsprayed area to view. Then you spray the next color of choice. Once the last layer has dried take the paper off the panel and clear over the whole thing. If you plan to spray a Strip in between you can must do this before clear coating the hole panel. Wood Grain is something that was started a long time ago with wood grain cars. Painting wood grain is a good way to bring back that vintage wood grain look. There are many ways to do wood grain and here are some. One of the most used ways is to spray a brown then your base color over it, take your finger and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Personal Narrative: The Art Of Watercolor The last medium I dabbled in was watercolors. Watercolor was a type of medium that my grandfather absolutely despised, so he did not do any art with me for this medium. I only used this medium for around a week or so before I was told to begin my final project. This would be the only medium that I would call a fail out of all of them. I did do one watercolor painting, but I did not know that there was a special type of paper for watercolors. Instead of watercolor paper I used regular white paper and this paper warped. I chose to do a picture of a foot bridge on a calendar, it turned out alright but it was my first attempt of watercolor and the big mistake was just type of paper that I had used. A few times I continued to practice my drawing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, like always I worked on the background. I had to put down a base and then work on it next time I met up with my grandfather because it was not dry. I realized that the color of my background was off, so I painted it a darker green compared to its original blue–ish green background. I then had to wait again for the paint to dry and then started to create different shades of green and white to put onto the background as leaves. It looked alright, but I think that I am going to work on it some more later to polish it up a bit. At this time I had also created a skin color that I did not want to go to waste so I began to paint in my brother and decided to just color over his whole face instead of going around it. My grandfather then told me that I should paint around the details of the face so I do not have to use the graphite technique again. So I listened and I preserved all the faces on the painting except my brother's. I later transferred my brother's face back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. A Blessing And A Curse The lights shine brightly onto the stage, illuminating the fact that there is a figure standing in the center. A microphone stands in the front of the stage, centered, casting shadows to the right and left. While an instrumental background starts playing, the figure steps up towards the microphone, and a beautiful voice begins to sing. The lights focus on the figure that has now shown as being a young woman in a beautiful silvery–white floor length dress. That is the benefit of the passion of the arts that a person can get if they set their mind to it. Setting one 's mind to getting to the stage of being famous, however, is not common because the pure will of a person is not strong enough to pursue such a passion. This is because the ... That was the day I started into the passion of the arts, since then, music and art have not been the same. The arts are a passion the gives multiple benefits. For me, one benefit is that the arts allowed me to see my true potential. I remember truly realizing my potential, where it basically slapped me in the face, was the night of the 'Westfield ' themed concert at Westfield Academy and Central School in 2016. As with every concert I had to be there at 6:00 pm, this time was different however, because this time I had to sing a solo to a song that was written by a past Westfield student who also happened to be the chorus teacher 's daughter, and would be sitting the audience waiting to hear the high school chorus strut their stuff. The choir started singing, including me, and when we get to my song, 'Untouchable ' by Lucy Knappenberger, I walked over to the mic in the center. Mr. Knappenberger, or Mr. K as he was called for simplicity sake, began playing the intro to the song, and he nodded his head when I was to come in, and I come in right on time with the exact right note, and with perfect breath support for the phrase "When she was young she was taught right from wrong." • 9. Reflection of René Treviño's Exhibition, Axial Precessions René Treviño was born in 1972 in Kingsville, Texas and currently lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York, as well as his Master in Fine Arts from the Maryland College of Art. He is currently represented by the C. Grimaldis Gallery in Baltimore, and had an exhibition from January 29, 2014–March 8, 2014 entitled Axial Precessions, hosted by the C. Grimaldis Gallery. The C. Grimaldis Gallery has a bit of history standing behind it. It was established in 1977 by Consantine Grimaldis and is the longest operating art gallery in the Baltimore City area. The gallery hosts exhibitions featuring American and European artists and works from the Post World War II, contemporary, and modern eras. The gallery has very high ceilings with white painted walls and pale wood flooring, allowing the artwork to "speak for itself" on display and to limit distractions to the viewers. It's a very airy and comfortable place to be in, and it takes on a beautiful aura when displaying René Treviño's artwork in particular. The name Axial Precessions did not come right away to Treviño's mind as a name for the collection, it instead came to him later on. The term itself refers to astrological bodies and their rotation as caused by forces of gravity, and René felt it best described this series of paintings. The collection on display features a series of paintings inspired by historical art, astrology, and patterns. Treviño's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Design Constraints: CO2 Dragster Car Recently in 4th hour Technology systems, we designed, built, and raced our CO2 dragster cars. We were given the opportunity to (within preset design constraints) design and create racing dragsters to compete on the track. For my design, I decided that the simpler the design, the more aerodynamic it would be. I didn't have any prior experience with this, so my design decision was nearly a shot in the dark. My first design was too big to fit on the wedge of wood that we worked with so I had to modify the design by making the top more curved and as a result, the car was shorter than I had originally planned it to be. After the design was complete, we cut out the outlines and taped them onto foam wedges that were the same size as the wooden wedges that we would use later. Then we traced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She used a mixture of oil paint and acrylic paint to paint half of the car with blue flames and half of the car with the traditional red/orange ones. She spent a lot of time on it and it was clear just by looking at it. The detail was amazing and it took several days to dry due to the sheer number of layers she had to apply to procure the look. She also designed her car to have a chunk out of the car in order to increase aerodynamic qualities and its overall speed. She made the base coat black and painted on top of it. When she painted it, she did the base coat here and the details at her house over the weekend. After racing our dragsters I came up with a few modifications that would increase the speed of my car. First off, I could have sanded it better and made it a true shell car by making the shape more curved. Secondly, I could have hollowed out the bottom in order to reduce the car's overall weight. Thirdly, I could have made the car smaller length wise in another attempt to decrease the overall weight. Finally, fourthly, I could have given the car a sleeker and smoother paint job to reduce ... • 13. My Purpose Of Art PAINTING When you're afraid of making mistakes, but do so anyway... when you allow yourself time to fix those mistakes–that is when you succeed. I use art as a form of escape. At least, that was its initial purpose. It didn't matter that I wasn't good (because I was, like, 5). Art made me happy and so I simply continued to make it. I took every art course that my school allowed me to and the few years when they didn't offer one were torture for my small self. Years later, with permission from my art instructor, I skipped an art course and took AP Studio Art (a senior class) during my junior year. This was the first time that I had the freedom to create whatever I wanted whenever I wanted. My artistry improved drastically alongside my enthusiasm for learning new skills. I went from drawing with pencil to painting with acrylics and watercolors, drawing digitally, sculpting, and even making jewelry. It was like I discovered my passion all over again. Art started to become something more to me, and soon I had dreams of becoming an artist. However, it wasn't until I went to Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI) over the summer before my senior year that I truly grasped the struggle of becoming an artist. Throughout my whole life, I only thought of art as a necessity; I needed it to stay calm, happy, and organized. But in just three weeks, I realized that the fundamentals of art posed questions that, to me, were on the scale of dinosaurs, aliens, Greek mythology, and even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. The Towers Of Babylon Summary "The Towers of Babylon", by Shirley Ye, consists of 4 watercolour and acrylic paintings, as well as 2 relief sculptures. The abstract (meaning, relating to reality, however has been distorted to appear unreal) works of the series, speak about the dangers of urbanisation, references to the biblical tower of Babylon as well as the quote, "the higher you build, the greater you fall" (Edwin Almeida). This artwork as a series, will be the main focus of this review. The series mainly comprise of watercolour and acrylic paint (paintings), paper photographs, wood, metal and human figurines (sculptures). The 4 canvas paintings all display a theme of spaced out areas, as well as areas that are tightly packed with layered lines/dots of paint. The sculptures however, are built to appear tall and unstable for the human figurines that are placed standing close behind one another. In addition, the sculptures consist of "angled/protruding" photographs of city environments and metal bird cages. Across the six artworks, the tone and colours contrast through bright, warm tones, to cold and dark shades, possibly to convey both positive and negative aspects of urbanisation, and the reasoning (to find better jobs, education, etc) behind urbanisation. The artist explains the artworks are made to display the dangers of urbanisation and make references to disasters such as the fallen towers 9/11, Rana Plaza and Grenfell Tower. Shirley does this in her artworks through symbolic meaning in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Descriptive Essay About Manahatta As I was looking through the never–ending list of artists on the PBS program "Art21," there was only one name that really captured my attention. That name was Marela Zacarías. I think one of the main reasons as to why I was so intrigued to click on this artist was because her name sounded Spanish and being Hispanic has always been something I have been proud of. What made my choice even better was when I selected on Marela Zacarías's name and began reading I found out she was Mexican just like me. At that point, there was no doubt I was going to do this assignment based off one of her artworks. When I began researching Zacarías and her art, I was hoping to love her work. Not only did I end up enjoying most of her art but ended up loving the piece called Mannahatta. Without a doubt, it became one of my favorite sculptures right away. As stated by the Brooklyn Art Council, Zacarías was awarded a lobby commission at the William Vale Hotel in Williamsburg in 2015 (Marela). It turns out Zacarías found out she was pregnant the same week she ended up finding out she got the commission. According to Marela Zacarías's website, Mannahatta was made in 2016 (Mannahatta). This sculpture is considered a "site–specific art," meaning it is only meant to be for one place only, so there are no other Mannahatta in any other locations. As it states on the Marela Zacarías's website the piece was made from "wood, window screen, plaster, acrylic polymer and acrylic paint and is sized at 25' x 20' ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Descriptive Essay On Bob Ross "The secret to doing anything is believing that you can do it. Anything that you believe you can do strong enough, you can do. Anything. As long as you believe." This is one of the many inspirational things I have heard Bob Ross say on his show, "The Joy Of Painting." Bob Ross is one of the most beloved American painters and is known by thousands of people across the world. His show was all about teaching his viewers how to paint and enjoy themselves while doing it. However, many of us tuned into the show not to paint, but to just listen to his calming voice and watch him form a masterpiece on a blank canvas. It is crazy to watch all the things he can do with a brush. He is also known for using the "wet–on–wet" painting technique which he learned from his mentor William Alexander. This is the process of putting oil paints directly on top of one another to create complete paintings in less than an hour. Bob Ross practiced this so much that he got it down to under 30 minutes for his show. His painting style is very different than mine, but I still love to watch and learn new things that I can experiment with in my style of painting. He accomplished many things in life, including finishing over 30,000 paintings and touching the hearts of millions of people while doing that. More recently, he has become very popular on social media, with over 67,000 followers on his Twitter fan page and over a million views on his YouTube painting videos. The severity of this problem isn't one that can completely alter the way we live but at the same time every action has an equal opposite reaction. Due to the frequency of the emissions the spheres can be greatly impacted. Many people have been affected by these emissions and most of the illnesses given to these people are very damaging or terminal. On average every 3–7 years a building is repainted and depending on the size of the building many VOCs are released. As well as the frequent times the inside of the buildings are repainted and just creating artwork. Also VOC emissions are two to five times higher indoors than outdoors which just increase the amount released in the end. All of this contributes to the severity of this problem on the soul fact that paint emission happen so frequently. In order to slow down the frequent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I found that the VOC free paint though more expensive still worked as regular paint would. Another downfall to buying the VOC free paint was there wasn't as many color options because VOC free paint is not as popular as regular paint so this made my project more challenging in finding the right colors and being able to mix them. Whereas if it was just regular acrylic paint I would be able to buy just the regular colors without having to mix as much as the VOC free paint. So all–in–all the VOC free paint did its job not polluting the environment but it was more expensive than regular acrylic paint. And acrylic paint by itself is already expensive, so I would not recommend buying VOC acrylic paint to just use and instead use an air purifier that way you're not spending as much money in the long run and still get the better ... • 23. Paint Pigment Essay The History of Paint Pigments Chem 111–404 April 24, 2013 Introduction: This report expresses five different pigments that were formed during chemical reactions. Three out of the total five reactions went through a metathesis, or double–replacment reaction. A metathesis reaction can be defined as "a chemical reaction in which an element or radical in one compound exchanges places with another element or radical in another compound." (Webster). The other two pigments underwent a neutralization reaction, which is "A reaction between an acid and a base that yields a salt and water." (Webster). In both types of reaction two substances are being combined to form a new solution. The metathesis reaction produces a solution and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first half was filtered and stored for the completion of the experiment, while the other half was stored for a week, unfiltered. The next week the unfiltered solution in beaker was filtered and set aside for another week. The fifth, and final pigment, was Prussian blue. One milliliter of 0.5 M iron (III) chloride was measured into a test tube. Then, 0.25 M solution of potassium ferrocyanide was mixed in. They were then filtered, and left to dry. The next week there were four paint binding options: egg tempura, casein, acrylic, and water color or gum arabic. This experiment used watercolor. The first step was to grind the pigment with water to make a stiff paste. Then, gum Arabic was added in a 1:1 ratio. Results: The data produced from the experiment demonstrates that when two solutions are mixed, they undergo a reaction that produces a pigmented or colored precipitate and also a liquid. The precipitate produced then can be fashioned into paint. In the first pigment, chrome yellow was produced. The yellow sodium chromate combined with the clear zinc sulfate created an orange liquid and a yellow precipitate. This is a metathesis reaction that causes the solution to be neutralized. The addition of sodium hydroxide causes the solution to become more basic. After the solution was filtered it created a yellow solid, and when the precipitate was crushed up and gum Arabic was it created a yellow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. The Development of Many Colors Essay As far back as the stone age men have looked for ways to share their lives and beliefs through art. Primitive drawings have been found in caves in Europe, Asia and Africa. The only thing missing was color to make the drawings more lifelike. By experimenting with plants, berries and minerals, men have developed beautiful colors that have been improved until we have the tempera, oils, acrylic and watercolor that artists use today. Tempera is the oldest paint medium known to man. Powered minerals, plants or clay were used for pigment and egg yolks were used as a binder. Sometimes, artists mixed the tempera with plaster to make frescoes on walls. Tempera paint is long lasting and does not change color over time like oils. The colors are ... He began to mix oil with his colors to thin the paint and slow down the drying time. This allowed him to add more shading and detail to his paintings(About.comPainting). Today's oil paint is a mixture of pigment(color), a binder which is usually linseed oil and a thinner which is usually turpentine(Oil Paint History). It was very hard to keep paint fresh during the early days of art. Before the nineteenth century artist or their assistants were required to mix fresh batches of paint every day. Then "colormen" began selling ready–made paint in pig bladders. Artists had to punch a hole in the bladder to get the paint out and they put a tack in the hole to reseal it. In 1822 James Hams, an English artist, invented a glass syringe with a plunger to force the paint out. Finally, in 1841 the American artist John Goffe Rand invented and patented the squeezable tube with a twist cap. Today this invention is not only used for paint, it is also used for toothpaste, ointment, creams, etc(About.comPainting). Acrylic resin was invented by Dr. Otto Rohm in the 1930's. By the 1950's Liquite began offering water soluble artist acrylic paint(ARTmine). It is a fast drying paint. • 29. Descriptive Art Of Art I stand on the dense carpeted floor barefoot. My toes curl and uncurl through the fibers as I bounce slightly to the music filling the room. It has a strong bass that somehow simultaneously calms me down and makes me excited. I fiddle with the brush in my hand. The bristles are half coated in cadmium red acrylic paint. The canvas in front of me is half bare and waiting for me to add more color. I dip my brush in my paint cup. It is an old thick plastic cup permanently stained with various other paints after years of use. I enjoy how worn it is though. It shows how long I have been painting and feels almost like an art piece in itself. Holding the very end of the brush handle I roughly add the watery red paint just above the center of the canvas. It drips down onto an old trifold I always place underneath my easel for that very reason. I fill in the roughly drawn lips on the canvas. I wipe the wet brush on my thighs, since I do not want to ruin a towel. I switch it around in the water cup until it is clean, and then place it into a similar cup that I use to dry my brushes in bristle–side up. I grab a similar brush from table behind me that has a bit of a rounder edge. I dip that bush in cadmium yellow. The yellow acts as the unnatural light source on the left side of my piece. I wished to replicate the cruddy yellow light that comes from a cheap light bulb. Once satisfied I do the same with that brush as I did the last. The last time I had been there was several years ago, and even then, I hadn't really paid enough attention to the art. I took a quick glance through the large double doors leading to the sculpture garden, then went to get my ticket. I sat down with a map for a short while, putting my thoughts together and figuring out which way I would have to go, in order to find the time periods and art styles that I was looking for. I walked in with a mindset that this trip would be quick, but I was proven wrong. I walked back and forth between the rooms exhibiting 17th and 18th century art, but I couldn't seem to choose the correct piece. Finally, I noticed a painting to my right that just flew off the page in my perspective. As soon as I saw the royal blue tints, I knew that I had to study this painting, since blue is my favorite color, and also because this painting was gorgeous. I walked up to the golden frame and stared at this painting for a couple of minutes, noting all the important characteristics. The main aspect that caught my eye was the use of dark colors, especially blues and greens, that should have made the image look heavy and dark, but actually helped display a bright portrait. The softness of the woman's face was illustrated so intensely, and it really convinced me to stop, sit down, and analyze the portrait. Pit And Fissure Sealant Research Paper Lauren Yant Sealant Reflection Paper April 27, 2015 "A pit and fissure sealant is an organic polymer that flows into the pit or fissure and bonds to the enamel surface mainly by mechanical retention when the acid etch process precedes the application of the sealant material" (Wilkins, 2013, p.543). According to Esther Wilkins, sealants are a part of a total preventative program, but are not substitutes for other preventative measures (Wilkins, 2013, p.550). Pit and fissure sealants have been around since 1895, but were not commercially available until 1972 (Harris, 2013, p. 274). Sealants should be placed on any teeth that have pits and fissures, which are the premolars and molars. The sealants may be placed on primary or permanent dentition as well. Sealants should not be placed on partially erupted teeth, teeth with "sticky" pit and fissures, teeth with stained pits and fissures, or decayed/cavitated teeth ("Pit and fissure sealants in the prevention of dental caries in children and adolescents: a systematic review", 2008). Pit and fissure sealants are indicated for patients, of any age, that has a high caries risk. Some manufacturers offer cheaper versions by substituting their paints with synthetic pigments which is likely to result in less color intensity and lower permanence rating. PERMANENCE This refers to the pigment's ability to resist gradual fading specifically when exposed to light. Others call it "lightfastness". Pigments will eventually fade over time and they are called fugitive colors. Artists prefer acrylic paints over water color because acrylic usually have higher permanence rating. When it comes to painting, artists have many mediums to choose from: acrylics, oils, gouache, fresco, and watercolors. Watercolors is one of the toughest mediums to achieve, its transparent streaks almost impossible to cover up and its various techniques prestigous and precise, but satisfying when accomplished. A chain reaction happened – the work of English artists inspired French watercolorists and the impressionist movement, causing German expressionists to impact the artists of the United States. Therefore, the watercolor medium remained popular throughout the 1800s and among artists in the 20th century. (Mules) As of today, watercolor is still strongly used by many artists around the world. The one thing that makes watercolors the least expensive medium is the amount of supplies needed to get started, which consists of only the essentials: paints, paintbrushes, watercolor paper, a pallete, and water. Because of its need of just the bare necessities, this makes watercoloring an affordable pastime. (McArdle) The forms of traditional watercolors are pans and tubes. Furthermore, the difference between the two is that tubes of paint are already moist, so water isn't required; pans on the other hand are hard cakes of paint that need water in order to be used. (McArdle) Along with traditional watercolors, there are two other derived forms of watercolor: tempera and gouache. Unlike most watercolors, tempera uses a binding agent instead of gum arabic, meaning that they are made with sizes1. Because of this ingredient, tempera paintings are long–lived. • 54. Acrylic Paints Advantages And Disadvantages Acrylic paint is for losers, it could never match with the likes of oil paint. This was a common belief for any artist during the 20th century. Likewise, paint is a complex medium in the realm of visual artist; it always strikes an intricate dialogue within artistic domiciles. Who will survive? Oil paint, the noble, protagonist grease; or Acrylic paint, the economical, underdog wash. Consequently, most creatives argue between the importance of both mediums, but it genuinely relies on the preference of the artist; whatever she or he promotes in consideration of the pigment and drying time, expenses and brands, and "beginners versus professionals" stigmas. Acrylic paint was introduced to the art world during the 1940s and sold commercially in the 1950s. It was originally considered as a substitute for oil paints, but not competition. However, as times proceeds, artist saw it as just that. According to davidlangevin.com, "scientific studies and accelerated aging tests confirm that acrylics will likely outlast oils in almost every category associated with permanent painting." Acrylic was made to be easier for the painter, hence the beginner stigma attached. It has bigger pigments, which makes it thinner and more transparent. Additionally, it is water–based, which allows quicker drying times and easier cleanups. Based upon the artist, this can be a huge advantage; if the artist creates quicker, then there is nothing holding the creator back from finishing. The water–based paint ... With these pictures, the best out of all when changed into high contrast was the one used to paint. With the use of a program that helps with photoshopping images, I changed my original picture into black and white, which I changed into high contrast. In addition, this assignment is called Expressive Self Portrait, where and how you emphasize a part of yourself as well as the use of colour is very important. With this photoshopped picture, I used a projector to project the image on a canvas of my choice and traced the contour of the subject matters within the picture. When the tracing was done, I could start painting. The goal of this composition is to choose a single colour scheme and with colours related to that scheme, we were to blend it using acrylic paint. As the image is a high contrast image, the black areas were asked to be coloured while the white areas stayed white. When the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 62. Learn and Develop New Painting Skills while Accomplishing... The goal of my personal project was to learn and develop new painting skills while accomplishing something that I have always wanted to do. My original plan was to learn all of the functions and possibilities of the human brain, but I then decided that that was not something I wanted to pursue and that it wasn't something I could personally connect with. The idea of learning to paint a tree sprung when I brainstormed on my past ideas and interests, and I decided that that was something I would like to pursue. I have always been interested in the art of painting and the detail and effort you should out into it. When I was in elementary we took a trip to the Toledo Art Museum and I saw a lot of really detailed paintings and I've always thought it would be cool of I could paint something myself. I have multiple sketches of trees and doodles, but I thought a painting would be way more in depth. I have always just found trees interesting, possibly because they serve purposes ranging from giving us fresh oxygen to being a spot to swing from as a child. My topic links closet to the Approaches to Learning category. It links to this are the best because I am attempting to learn how to paint. One of the factors in approaches to learning includes communication, in order for me to be successful I had to communicate with art teachers in order to plan a time and place to learn how to paint. Another factor in approaches to learning is organizational skills and attitudes towards work, in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The gallery they had on display was "Colorstorm" If not now... when? by the artist Stacey Torres. The gallery featured upward towards 50 original paintings. Some of the artworks in this exhibit include: The Reddest Thread, Cathy, Queen Anne, Poetry Man 1, Poetry Man 2, and Journey. Stacey Torres is an African– American folk artist, writer, and dancer. She was born in Jamaica, New York and currently lives in New Castile, Indiana. The primary focus of her work is women in natural settings. Her paintings include brilliant colors using different media and include watercolor, oil pastels, and acrylics. (2) The piece I chose to review was titled Journey. This was a large (24 x 36) acrylic painting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a cheerful, acrylic painting created using bold and bright colors made to contrast one another. Torres used unity and variety with a selection of lines, shapes, and colors. When you first view the painting, you will notice the directional forces that cause your eyes to view the painting in a particular order. Staring at the front center, the eyes will follow the path of lines that lead your eyes over the entire painting. When you take a closer look at the piece, you will begin to notice a repetition of certain colors and shapes. The painting is also asymmetrically balanced. In my opinion, the most important Principle of Design used for this piece is contrast. The figure of the woman in the front is significantly contrasted from the rest of the painting, and she is made to be the focal point. This piece is representational artwork. It depicts the appearance of a woman and includes subjects from the everyday world. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 68. How Can You Keep Your Garden? Gardens are beautiful on their own, but some of us cannot avoid the inclination to accessorize. To bring your garden to its full potential, you must develop its full aesthetic value. There 's numerous little projects you can do by yourself or with the family, to add colorful and quirky visual interest throughout the garden. Mobiles can be made from an array of materials. Since it will be hanging it outside, make sure the material is waterproof. Foam is a smart choice because it is weather resistant, malleable, and kid friendly. Foam sheets are very inexpensive and come in most colors. Some foam comes in precut shapes. They even have foam letters. If the shape you want is available precut, it will be easier than cutting yourself. Foam is difficult to cut to a smooth edge. Foam sheets often come pre–glued. If your materials are not, you can use PVA glue or hot glue. You will need to glue your shapes or light weight trinkets on your string or thread. You may want to consider incorporating a picture. Foam picture frames are available in most art centers and you could laminate the picture. This project has an abundance of creative potential. This can create single strand color burst hanging around your garden. You can do themed pieces for different areas of the garden. For instance, use bright colors and butterfly shapes to hang in the butterfly garden. Hanging pieces are important because it keeps visual interest continuing from ground level to eye level. • 70. Analysis Of The Poem ' The Painter ' By John Ashbery A majority of John Asbury's poems are about the process in which the mind of a person interacts with the external surroundings. John Asbury has often tried to describe how the human mind interacts with the natural world. In his poem "The Painter" the poet has also incorporate the diverse aspect of nature which has been seen through the minds of a painter. Through this poem, the poet has essentially tried to reach out and understand the deeper aspects of human emotions such as life, love, loss, alienation, creation, inspiration, reality and perspective. The fact that John Asbury is an ardent art critic, he is deeply involved and associated with the process of artistic creation and appreciation which is more so reflected through his poem "The Painter" (Frye 208). In the poem 'The Painter', the poet John Ashbery describes the artistic creativity in direct conflict with the demands of today's society. In this poem he expressed how an artist wants to paint the sea and bring forth a relation between the sea and the buildings of the city. The painter places himself amidst the nature and the urban concrete jungle and as he expected his work to gain creativity, his expectations got diminished as he was unable to capture reality of life through his art. He was thus attempting to create something impossible and remains unsuccessful (Ford 112). Ashbery considered this desire to be very simple as he compared his ambition to children's prayer. Ultimately, the goal will be to motivate people to not litter and draw emphasis to the need to take adequate care of our ocean. I was struck with inspiration of this idea one afternoon while I was meditating after running down Cocoa Beach. During my runs, I would repeatedly feel distressed by the amount of garbage I observed the public leave behind and later on be swept out into the ocean by high tide. I had a vigorous desire to do whatever was in my power to help alleviate this environmental issue. While meditating, the sound of the waves crashing and the sensation of sand beneath my body, the idea for this concept manifested in my mind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of each run I will photograph the trash on the sand before properly disposing of it. Then, I will use the collection of photographs to generate a painting. • 74. The Works Of Art Have Created With Multiple Mediums Works of art have been created with multiple mediums throughout the centuries. Oils and watercolor paints are two popular painting mediums that is widely used by countless artists. Painters such as Charles Demuth, Thomas Eakins, and Georgia O'Keeffe were rather famous for their watercolor paintings while William Adolphe Bouguereau, Andy Warhol, and John Lafarge were popular for their oil paintings. These two paint types, both illustrate ideas, but through differing effects of whichever paint option used, whether it be watercolors or oil paints. Watercolors are generally considered loose paints for their flowy pigments that hold a pellucid appearance. Known for being rather unpredictable, watercolors have gained a somewhat unfortunate reputation amongst the paints. They drip, and mix together, creating a myriad of colors that will eventually turn gray and cloudy. But aside from the few mishaps watercolors create, beauty is accomplished after practicing with the spontaneous paint. Watercolor in particular is a transparent and light medium which allows light to bounce off of the paper and reflect through the paint. This then creates this light, airy essence, which is evident in countless watercolor artworks. This transparency is what makes watercolors stand out from other paintings; as layers of a particular color are added, the richness intensifies. The versatility of watercolors allows the paint to create different shades and hues without wasting as much paint as other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
