The First Christmas Of My Family
December 24th, 2016 was the first Christmas I spent in America with my host family. All kinds of
decoration were ready to light up and a variety of gifts were set up under the Christmas tree . My
host parents and I were hanging up the Christmas socks at the fireplace. Within the 8 socks this year,
there were three of them did not belong to the fireplace anymore. Baddy, Peter, and Jasmine, their
socks were hung at the second–floor platform, a place for the dogs that no longer with us. Standing
by the entrance door, I looked upward to the third sock with Jasmine's name on it. With Jasmine's
Christmas sock moving from the fireplace and taking an empty space on the second floor, I realized
something was change. It was not only about the dogs but also myself.
Looked at the socks, I couldn't help to recall the memory between Jasmine and I. The first time I
met Jasmine was from the pictures my host family sent to me before I came to America. In one of
the pictures, there were 2 big dogs chasing each other around in the back yard. One was Jasmine a
nine–year–old black lab–mix, the other one was Haley, a 12 years old dalmatian mix with black
patterns on the white fur. I worried that if I could get along with the dogs because for the first
sixteen years in my life there never was a dog around. In my mind, I stereotyped big dogs as an
aggressive and fierce animal. However, once I met them, I started to seem them as the best dogs in
the world.
Just like any other big dogs, Haley and

I'm 13 years old, so I surely know that Santa doesn't exist (sorry for destroying yalls hope). My
older brother and I been knew that our parents buy the presents and leaves it under the tree so they
can make it look like santa came. Though my little baby brother doesn't know that so let's make him
think that. But we also don't want our parents to know that we know that they are the ones who
bring the presents so we keep that lowkey. But woooohh let me tell yall the day we actually did
believe it was Santa. So it was Christmas Eve and my brothers and I knew we would have presents
in the morning. That night we decide to sleep early around 9:00 p.m. I went to my room and fell
asleep. Though I woke up to ANdres coming in my room screaming "KIMMM!!" So my first
instinct was to scream too. We tried to turn on the light but the power went off. The next thing I
know I was hugging him. Suddenly the lights came on and we noticed we hugging. So we quickly
pushed each other and pretend nothing happen. We

Personal Narrative: Theft From North Dakota To Arizona
I flew from North Dakota to Arizona on Thursday night to surprise my granddaughters. The flight
got delayed and by the time I arrived the girls were asleep not knowing I was coming. I hug my
daughter and I told her how much I missed her. My daughter sit me at the dining table and went to
get the girls. Poor girls they thought they were in trouble. They came down and they walk close
where I was sitting and they didn't put any attention to person sitting at the table. They keep looking
at their mom when finally, they saw me smiling at them. They start jumping and run to hug me. We
all have tears of joy. They thought I will spend Christmas with them. My daughter told them I was
part of the surprise and they would be spending Christmas in North

Christmas Break Essay
Christmas Break, the time of year everyone loves. It's, for children, the best holiday break!
However, I'm not here to tell you that. Christmas break just so happens to be the longest break!
Discluding summer, of course. I'm here to tell you about my Christmas break and all the fun things
that happened!
The days leading up to Christmas we're definitely not the best days of the break! However, they
were the days building up the excitement inside of me with how close Christmas was! Christmas
Eve made up for that! On Christmas Eve we did a lot of fun things. We made home–made pizzas.
We all got onesies. We did everything we could to perpetuate the fun as long as possible.
Then came Christmas. I tried to wake up as early as possible that day

Christmas Tradition In Irving Christmas : My Great Christmas
White Christmas is a tradition in my family. My Great–Grandmother started it years ago and my
Grandmother (Mum) has carried on the tradition to my Mom and now all of her granddaughters. It is
a time of togetherness, where we sing–along with the movie, snack on finger–foods and talking and
remembering past years of Christmases. This Irving Berlin movie first aired in the movie theater in
1954, in the midst of many musicals. It is by far, one of the best Christmas movie that was ever
made. I hope to continue this tradition with my children and grandchildren, and keep it going for my
Great–Grandmother. White christmas opening setting is Christmas Eve 1944 on the front line
nearing the end of World War II. Two Army guys, Captain Bob Wallace, an already famous New
York City entertainer and Private Phil Davis perform a Christmas program and a farewell production
for General Tom Waverly just before and air raid on the troops. Private Davis saves captain Wallace
from a falling building and injures his arm in the process. Shortly after the bombing. Private Davis
is recuperating in medical tent when Captain Wallace stops to check on him and to thank him one
more for saving his life. Private Davis has written a duet and proposes that they perform it together
when the war is over. Captain Wallace tells him that he works along then Private Davis grabs his
own arm and rolls his eyes and says that he understands. Captain Wallace then tells him that he is
indebted to him and they

It Is The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
"It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year"
Throughout the year, there are many occasions that bring my family together to celebrate. We
celebrate birthdays, baptisms, and generally when the sun is shining bright. However, there is one
holiday that stands out as my favorite, Christmas. It is a time of year "with lots of fun and cheer."
Although this statement is cliché, it is also true. It is the time of year when the world is kinder; joy
and good will are spread through the world. In my family, Christmas brings us together to celebrate
each other in love at the end of the year. It is a time when we show a little more kindness to a
stranger, laugh and commune with each other, and fill our bellies with food.
Christmas is the time of year when the best of human nature shines through. People spend more time
saying hello and goodbye. We show gratitude for little things that we would normally ignore. One
tends to reflect on the blessings they received throughout the year.
They reflect on the things that are most important like family and friendship, good health, and well–
being. Generally even the shrewdest and grouchiest person, is slightly nicer during this time of year.
Strangers give to charities and homeless shelters. People give their time by volunteering in soup
kitchens and hospitals. Although these random acts of kindness should be displayed more
throughout the year, it is nice to observe during Christmas.
The meaning of Christmas is important to me because it brings

The Book Thief
"Words are life, Liesel" said Max Vanderburg – a hidden Jewish to Liesel Meminger – an ambitious
and young girl. In "The book thief" movie, directed by Brian Percival, the connection between two
protagonists reinforced by the skilled techniques and advanced up by colours, symbols and camera
angles. All connections showed effectively and controlled were in the Christmas scene of this
movie. This scene positively affected my thinking about the bond within the family for the strangers.
This movie took place in Germany back to the 1940s, therefore, it showed as pale and pure colours,
such as: black, grey, muddy brown and army green. The combination of those tones reminded of the
ancient town and covered with sadness. Sorrow and happiness are opposite ... Show more content on

At Christmas night, all Han's member gathered in the basement and they celebrated this holiday
quietly, heartfully and warmly. Throughout the scene, Brian genuinely played close–up angles to
every details of characters emotions and expressions to provoke the feeling of audiences. Your truly
emotional can be kept by yourself but from the high–techniques of the camera, all those feelings
from character will be shown up evidently. "This is the most stupid thing I've ever done" – Rosa said
it with disappointed tone but she quietly smiled, afterward, I recognised that she is soft–hearted
woman and likely to take care of her family silently. In the last century, Rosa was the iconic women
whom devoted all the rest of her life to maintain the wellbeing of the family and invested all her
mind to build up the best for her "little family". Crucially, the camera shots are those components
drawn my attention to "The Book Thief", thus I felt sympathetic to Liesel for her circumstance in
the new country. In the intention of the movie, Rosa is my favourite character because from her, I
learnt the lesson of caring and working tirelessly to cope with the family's condition. Productively,
from the semi–close angles, as a viewer, I found the hardship under Rosa's vision and the happiness
in Liesel's expressive voice; "This is my first Christmas" – excited, cheerful girl told her parent and

Why I Hate Christmas Essay
Why I hate Christmas
"I despise Christmas and I always will!" –––this was a common monologue I had with my lonely
self around this time of year. I continued on my daily evening saunter, in the bitter, cold air, gazing
at the children on the other side of the fence playing outdoors in the mounds of white snow.
Joyously appearing as if layering ten garments for the sake of stepping outside was to be fun. I
would like to believe that I do not envy the children with happy childhoods and amorous families,
but I know dejectedly, I still do. You could call me a "Grinch" during this time of year I guess. But
overall, I find the holiday of Christmas extremely irritating and obnoxious. I returned to my desolate

Claus Henry Albers Research Paper
Family History:
The first of my ancestors to immigrate over to America was my great, great grandfather, Claus
Henry Albers. Albers, sharing the same last name as me, comes from my father's side of the family.
On June 26th, 1855, Albers was born to his mother, Helga Gertz, and his father, Henry Albers.
Residing in Schleswig–Holstein, Germany, the family was Lutheran and seeked a better life in
America, a country providing them religious freedom – a religious pull. The family, being from a
country that was mainly Catholic, wanted to practice their religion freely without the constraints
Catholicism. In 1865, him and his family settled in Davenport, Iowa where he would live into
adulthood. Albers was ten years old when he immigrated to America ... Show more content on

The festivities last for a whole month: from December 6th, the feast of St. Nichols, until January
6th, the feast of the wise men. Similar to the American Christmas traditions, Christmas trees are a
large part of the holiday celebration. In Germany, unlike America, the Christmas tree is secretly
brought into the house the night of Christmas Eve and is decorated by the mother. Trees are most
famously decorated with hand blown glass ornaments and tinsel. Another German tradition unlike
America's is that presents are usually exchanged and opened on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas
Day. Germans also celebrate Zweiter Weihnactsfeirtag the day after Christmas. Zweiter
Weihnactsfeirtag directly translates to Boxing Day, the holiday also celebrated in Canada. Though
unlike Canada, where Boxing Day is a time for shopping and finding discounts, in Germany, Boxing
Day is like a second Christmas. Families spend time with their grandparents and godparents. Things
like board games, watching TV, and other typical bonding activities are done. This day, for the
Germans, is a quiet day to relax and prepare for the rest of the Christmas

Definition Essay: The True Meaning Of Christmas
Christmas day is celebrated of the birth of Jesus Christ. Which Christians believe is the son of god.
It took place after sunset and before sunrise the next day. So people had it at midnight. So they got
the name Christmas from the mass of Christ. So it shortening to Christmas.
Christmas is about friend and family come together and celebrate the holiday. It is about caring
about each other and joy. People celebrate Christmas different because of race or religion. Some
people open one present at midnight then wait until Christmas morning to open all. Christmas is
about giving and receiving.

Artifact Club Case Study
One of the best decisions I made my junior year was joining Interact Club. Around Christmas time,
everyone in Interact fundraises money by selling candy bars. This money goes to the Christmas
clearing Council to help buy Christmas gifts for families in need at Waukesha North. We actually
got to go shopping before Christmas and pick out the gifts for the families with the money we
raised. This was very humbling for me because they didn't ask for much. All they really wanted was
a pair of socks and a t–shirt. Nothing big, nothing fancy. The thought of people not getting gifts on
Christmas really never occurred to me until then. I've been so fortunate that I have never had that
situation at home, but now I realize that many others do. And that

How The Grinch Stole Christmas
Not only do "The Gift of the Magi" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" both show the theme that
the best gifts are received through actions, they also both develop the theme through symbolism. In
the story, "The Gift of the Magi", when Della was explaining to James as to why she cut her hair,
Della clarifies, "'Maybe the hairs of my head can be counted,' she said, 'but no one could ever count
my love for you.'" (O. Henry, 5) This shows that Della's hair symbolizes her love for James, and
how it meant more to her than her most valued possession. By stating, "'no one could ever count my
love for you,'" demonstrates that even though their love cannot be seen, their love was eternal and
her love will never succumb to anything else, especially

Thanksgiving Is A Day Of Giving Thanks
We all have our favorite time of the year; it might be summer, spring, fall or even winter. The
holidays are a time for celebrations, decorating and heartwarming love. The holidays are just a
joyous time of the year. They are also a time for family, friends, and great food and let 's not forget a
break from work. But my overall favorite time of the year is the holiday season, Thanksgiving and
Christmas and the family traditions that brings out the holiday spirit.
To start with, Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks. It is not only a time to give thanks on that day,
but to be thankful throughout the entire year. Thanksgiving is not just about the turkey and dressing,
the honey ham or the pecan pies; it is day for families to gather together, enjoy each other and give
thanks for the many blessings we have received. It is a day where we gather at my house and
everyone pitches in and brings their favorite dish. I provide the main meal, the chicken and dressing
and my daughter, Tamika does the potato salad. We usually purchase our desserts and my
granddaughter, Alexus likes to set the table, and she does it so beautifully. Thanksgiving is when we
all get full, stuffed and just lazy and sleepy. We gather around in the living room to watch the Dallas
Cowboys football game, the kids play their video games and lastly the night ends with everyone
shopping for the Black Friday deals, that's the exciting part of it all. Thanksgiving, is not only a time
to spend with our families but

The Mariah Carey Christmas Special 2014
The concert that I have selected for my review is the Mariah Carey Christmas special 2014. The
concert took place on December 16 at the beacon theater in New York City and it lasted for
approximately an hour. The concert opened with a performance by a ballerina with classical music.
Then followed by the entrance of Mariah Carey, who was at the center of the stage. The visual of the
concert I have to say personally was amazing and impressive, it had a big Christmas tree in the back
and background with the stars and snowflakes hang from the ceilings, very Christmas like to me.
Her band was dressed in white; she had backup singers and a choir right behind her. She began her
concert with the famous Hark! The Herald Angels Sing / Gloria, personally I was moved by the way
she sang that song, it was moving, it provokes many emotions to me, however this is a song that has
a lot of high notes and it was very hard to hear her voice because she was not able to sing it the way
she did. Although she did not preform this song like she used to, I have to admit that it made me cry
a little, it such a beautiful song and even though she made have sang it under peach, I appreciated
her voice and she was still able to make the song her and put a lot of emotions to it. She seemed to
be singing under notes in other songs that she performed as well. The rhythm was very smooth and
the melody was on point, she was able to hit with a soft approach the lower pitches, however when
it came to the high

Narrative Essay About Christmas
Rufus, Wake Up! The bright white light blinded me when i woke up. And hearing the deafening
sound of Anna screaming "WAKE UP!" What's happening? Nine year old Anna love Christmas and
so do I, I'm a three year old golden retriever and Anna is my best friend. The real meaning of

When I woke up I rolled out of my dog bed and zoomed to the front door. While I stood there and
waited for Anna to let me outside to do my thing I smelled something. "Yummy" I said to myself as
I dashed into the kitchen to see what the smell was. I put my front paws on the counter and looked
as far up as I could."Cookies!" I grabbed me one and demolished it in seconds. It was really good,
they were Christmas cookies. "Rufus!" I ran to the door and she let me outside and I jumped off the
porch into cold wet snow. Anna was smiling and laughing at me. I went to my bush and did my
thing and zoomed back into the house.
"Present time!" Anna's mom yelled."Yes! The best part of my day!" I said as I ran and snatched my
present from under the Christmas tree. Anna got my stocking from over the warm fire."Merry
Christmas Rufus!" she said to me as she gave me a big bone and a hug."THANK YOU!" I barked to
her. Anna opened all her Christmas presents and she got a lot of toys too. Now it was my turn to

Research Paper On Christmas In Australia
What is a "down–under" Christmas like? Australia is known as 'the land Down Under' for its
position in the southern hemisphere. Australia is the world's largest island and also the world's
smallest continent. The seasons in Australia are opposite to the United States. Christmas festivities
begin in late November, when schools and church groups present Nativity plays. When Australians
celebrate Christmas on December 25, it is during summer vacation. Many of the traditions in
Australia are similar to the traditions in the United States. Homes are decorated, families enjoy a
holiday meal, attend church together, Santa Claus is part of the Australian Christmas and during the
entire month of December they sing carols.

Some families put up a Christmas tree. They also hang stockings at the edge of their bed, and listen
their all time favorite books like Christmas Wombat and Bush Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, families attend church together. Some children expect Father Christmas to leave
gifts, and others wait for Santa Claus to visit and deliver gifts. After opening presents on Christmas
morning, the family sits down to a breakfast of ham and eggs. Then the family goes to church again.
Christmas Day is when families and close friends gather together from all over Australia. The
highlight of the day is the holiday meal in the middle of the day.
Finally, one of my favorite parts about learning Australia Christmas, is that they have huge bonfires
at the end of the day. They get together and hang out, they tell stories to each other. Also they gets
laughs in, and play around making up time that they didn't get to spend with each other over the past
year or so. Christmas is one of my all time favorite holidays! Who wouldn't enjoy getting to spend

Personal Narrative: The Head Start Of Barrio Tortugo
Growing up, my dad was my biggest role model. He taught me the value of helping others and
caring for the community. Twenty years ago, my dad and his best friend established that it should be
a right, not a privilege, for children to receive Christmas presents. Therefore, every year, they would
dress up as Santa and his an elf to go donate presents to little kids from low–income families here in
Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, years after they started this tradition, my dad's best friend passed away,
and an economic crisis arose on the island, which that put an end to the donations my father
received for the children.

huge expression of gratitude, which and this confirmed to me that I was doing something right. Even
though I was not making a change in everyone's life, I was making a meaningful change for these
kids and their families. As we walked in the classrooms and handed out the presents, I could see the
excitement build in the eyes of the children and their parent's faces filled with hope. I felt grateful
for everything I had, my family and friends, but most of all for this experience that filled my heart
with joy and proved to me that all the work and time I had invested in making this project, was
utterly and completely worth it. Little girls and boys ran up and hugged me while parents told me
how thankful they were for this opportunity. For the first time in my life, I felt like I made a
difference. A difference that I hope I can make in other Head Starts around the Island.

mad, sad or feeling bad, I have only seen them feeling glad. On the contrary, I have seen many
people angry or sad while using their electronic devices. When people use their electronic devices, it
takes one out of reality, and they are less likely to interact with others around them, which is a bad
habit. The years of my life when I had my dirt bike, they were the happiest years of my life, I
appreciated creation more, and I also interacted with others more. Dirt bikes are the best Christmas
presents that have been created for numerous reasons, and electronic items can be detrimental to our
livelihoods. Regardless of the presents one receives, they should be thankful they have people who
care about them enough to even buy them a present at all, and that is what Christmas is all about,
spending time with your friends and family. Christmas is not the season of receiving, it is the season
of giving, so people should not worry about the presents they receive, they should be more
concerned with giving presents to help

My Worst Christmas
Christmas is supposed to be one of the happiest days of the year for me. It really sucks to spend it in
the hospital... Last Christmas was the worst Christmas ever!
I had went to the orthodontist a few days before Christmas and spent the day in Springfield. A
couple days after, I had the most sore throat, it hurt so bad. I told my mom and she gave me some
cough drops to help relieve the pain I was feeling in my throat. I thought my allergies were just
acting up and it would be better the next day. The next morning I woke up and it was worse and my
whole body ached and I did not want to move because it hurt so bad. I was also shivering because I
was so cold! My mom thought there was something wrong so she took my temperature and it was
101 degrees. After that, she called the doctors and scheduled me an appointment for that afternoon. I
was feeling worse by then and my temperature keep getting higher and higher. When we got to the
doctor, she took one look at me and said she could tell I definitely did not feel good. And I didn´t!
She told me I probably have the flu and I need to get lots of rest and drink fluids, just like what
every other doctor would say. She prescribed me some ibuprofen and sent me home. On the way
home, we stopped and got ice cream. When we got home, I took as much ibuprofen that I was
allowed and tried to go to sleep. I fell asleep and when I woke up I was dripping with sweat but I
felt so much better, but not 100%. My mom told me she had checked on my while I was asleep and
my fever had broke. She had told me that when she took my temperature with the thermometer that
goes across your head, that she forgot to take the cap off and it read 80 degrees! She freaked out and
checked my pulse because she thought I died! That gave me a much needed laugh when she told me
that. As the day went on, I started feeling worse and worse. My throat was getting more sore and I
felt like there was an elephant sitting on my chest. I had so much stuff in my lungs I felt like I could
hardly breathe. I had a constant headache and all the muscles in my body ached. I did not sleep any
that night. The next day was Christmas Eve, I tried getting rest so that I would hopefully be feeling
better for Christmas and my

My Hero : Personal Narrative : My Heroine
My heroine Compassionate, empathetic, generous, reliable, persistent, ambitious, sincere– my
heroine can be described as any of these characteristics. My heroine is someone who is admired by
many people for her personality and her actions towards other people. I admire her for her unlimited
amount of love and determination towards the advancement of other people. In December of 2012,
my friend and I were having a small sleepover at my house for her birthday. Christmas Eve was less
than a week away, so we were telling each other about the items we had wrote on our Christmas list
and listing them in order of the ones we wanted the most.
While my friend Kelly was telling me about her list, she accidentally said, "My brother and I are not

Therefore, we decided to do everything we could to give them the best Christmas even if it meant
we had to give up our gifts.
On the same day, we contacted a local club that is dedicated to helping people in the community. We
told them the situation and asked if they would be willing to help us give these children a good
Christmas. They were willing to donate one hundred dollars to help buy these children the gifts they
had asked for. The money we received did not go as far as we would have liked, so we started taking
donations from local businesses and family friends. My mom drove around town telling people the
situation and asked if they would like to support the cause. My mom and I asked anyone we could
possibly think would be willing to help these children have a good holiday with their family. Some
people donated money while other people asked for a list and donated actual gifts Kelly and her
brother asked for. Once people started asking for a list, we told the parents what we were doing for
Kelly and her brother. In return, they thanked us by giving us hugs and offering us dinner. However,
we only asked for their Christmas lists, so we could give them to the people who had asked for them
and get the gifts with the donated money.
Once all the gifts had been bought or donated, my mom and I stayed up for hours throughout the
night wrapping all the gifts that had been bought for Kelly and her brother. In order to do

Taylor Family Research Paper
"We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!" Christmas was always in my mind no
matter what time of year it was. I discovered a couple months back that our close family friends, the
Taylors, could not afford anything to get their children any Christmas presents. I had a prompting to
share this detail with the rest of my family members and we acted upon this news. We decided to
take this opportunity to serve our great family friends, which we owed so much to them for all that
they have done for us. We decided to save our money and that we each would not get more than five
Christmas presents for ourselves. Instead, we would have our Christmas presents be contributed
towards the family. That would be our Christmas present. To be able to give back and see how
happy the Taylor family would be on Christmas day. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This list was very long, for they have fifteen members of their family. Preparing the list meant that
the next step was shopping for the family. That also meant a lot of shopping for the Taylor family.
Another act of service was shown when our other family friends, the Gilberts, donated two thousand
dollars to help purchase gifts for the Taylor family. They are also close with the Taylors and wanted
to help contribute to this Secret Santa act.
As the list was finally finished, the shopping began. I got to travel to many stores with my mother as
we searched for the needed items for the Taylors. I couldn't contain my excitement while we were
shopping. I just had a joyful feeling as we shopped. It really brought the Christmas spirit and made
me even more excited to hear about the Taylors' Christmas. We collected and bought all the presents
for the Taylors and our living room was filling up with the many gifts. That meant it was time for us
to begin

Descriptive Essay On A Christmas Walker
The other day my mom came home from the store with the usual armful of cardboard bags.
However, there was something very different about one bag that separated it from all of the others.
My mom asked me to unload the items and organize them into their awaiting shelves. Their contents
contained typical groceries such as cereal, some new herbal teas, and a fresh bottle of dish detergent.
But, this special bag carried a large Yankee candle encased in glass and embellished with a large
sticker reading "Christmas Cookie". On the label a petite tree shaped sugar cookie sat on a plate.
Immediately, I smiled because cookie scented candles are my absolute favorite. I rushed to the
second drawer of the kitchen island and pulled out the lighter and instantaneously ignited the wick.
As I watched the flame blossom with satisfaction, I was suddenly punched in the face by nostalgia.
The warm, comforting and sweet smell of that candle had somehow transported me back to
christmas a few years ago. I was a joyful, little third grader. My family and I lived in Reno and to
everyone's surprise, there was a fair amount of snow carpeting the ground. It was Christmas Eve and
with the glorious day of Christmas right around the corner I could hardly stand the anticipation. My
mom prepared for the night by lighting the "Christmas Cookie" candle and bringing out large boxes
full of decorations waiting to be put on display. Like every other Christmas Eve, we filled the night
with classic Christmas

My Traditions Of Christmas
Everyone has different traditions for different things, but something my family has a lot of traditions
built around is christmas. Traditions always very between families, but that is what makes them
traditions. Some families keep it simple and others go all out. You may not even recognize them as
traditions, you might just see it as what something you alway do. My family's Christmas traditions
start christmas eve and then continue the next morning and throughout Christmas day. Christmas
Eve always starts as a usual day, we wake up and look for Dash, who is my little sister's elf on the
shelf, and then continue with our day normally, but everything changes in the evening. Every year

Taije, my little sister is always the first one to wake up. She gets everyone up and pushes everyone
to hurry so that we can go downstairs and open our presents, but of course the morning can not start
until my parents have their coffee and my mom has grabbed her camera. When everyone is ready,
we make our way downstairs where our stockings are laid out with all of the stuff that santa brings
us. Taije is almost at the age where she does not believe in santa or our elf on the shelf's magic
anymore, so we enjoy making the best out of it while we can. After everyone has looked through
their stockings, we start passing out all of the presents from under the tree. My mom always puts a
special code on the presents instead of names so that we do not snoop through them trying to see
what they are. We have yet to break the code and she ends up having to tell us right before we pass
out the presents every year. When all of the presents under the tree are passed out to the people they
belong to, we open them. The kids open their presents first and once they are done the parents open
theirs. After all the present opening is done, we clean up the wrapping paper while my mom goes
upstairs to make us breakfast. We spend the rest of the morning putting things away, eating breakfast
and getting ourselves ready for the

I Believe In Winter Research Paper
I believe in Winter. Winter has always been my favorite season, warm clothes, hot chocolate,
blankets by the fire, snow, and of course Christmas. I've been a die hard winter fan ever since I was
a little kid, making memories and just having so much fun around the holidays. I remember not
being able to fall asleep because of being too excited about Christmas morning, and then waking up
super early to jump out of bed and to wake my parents up. We then open up presents and then my
mom makes these cinnamon rolls that will blow away your mind. They are layered in frosting and
are so gooey in the middle that it melts in your mouth. This I believe makes the holiday and what

riding the rollercoasters felt amazing and we ate dipping dots ice cream there to. On that trip one
thing that I did that I've never done before was ride the boomerang which is the fastest ride there, I
yelled so much and I got scared but overall it was fun. I went with my sisters Jaidia, Kelsey, and

Literary Analysis Of Truman Capote's Last Christmas With Sook
"A Christmas Memory", an eloquently written account of Truman Capote's last Christmas with his
dear friend, Sook. The story is set during the 1930s in a rural southern section of Alabama. Capote
recalls his last Christmas with Sook, who is his "sixty–something" (3) year old cousin who has
childlike tendencies. Sook refers to Capote as Buddy throughout the story. Buddy and Sook share a
home with other relatives, who throughout the story, berate them with harsh words and are overall
unkind. However, the relatives unknowingly strengthen their bond and aid in forging an unbreakable
friendship between the two. Capote manages to pen a captivating memoir of his last Christmas with
Sook using an engaging writing style with an enthralling use of vivid language.
One of the ways Capote captivates his readers is by using vivid language to make the reader feel
joyful, giddy and excited. "My dancing shadow rollicks on the walls; our voices rock the chinaware;
we giggle: as if unseen hands were tickling us" (23). Notably this passage is composed by giving the
reader a sense of silliness as we imagine the auditory impulsivity of loud singing. Capote's
whimsical language takes a step further with his use of "...unseen hands were tickling us" (23) to
illustrate the feeling of Buddy and Sook's giddiness. Another way he uses imagery is with, "...the
beginnings of dawn splash us like cold water..." (36). As a result, his passage allows the reader to
feel suddenly overwhelmed. Capote wants to grasp the urgency of waking up Christmas morning
and capture the excitement of not wanting to make waste of any time. Capote uses vivid language to
make us feel cheerful; likewise, he also uses it to make us feel the heaviness of heartache within the
household.
Capote's use of language equally portrays a sense of misery and somberness. For example, during
the whiskey scene, the relatives in the household erupt into the room with, "eyes that scold, tongues
that scald" (24). The verbiage used is sharp and graphic. Notably, in the same passage, the relatives
say, "shame! scandal! humiliation! kneel, pray, beg the Lord!" (24). Above all, these three things are
of the utmost importance to Sook. Her religion, her friendship with Buddy, and her mental

Christmas Tradition In Elie Wiesel's The Night Before...
All families have a different Christmas tradition. Whether it be opening one gift on Christmas eve,
leaving cookies for Santa, or sitting around a decorated tree telling stories. In my family, every
Christmas eve, my mom would read me the book "The Night Before Christmas". This was my
favorite part of Christmas eve because I would get to hear my mom's gentle voice tell the story. I
always admired how she could flow words together to make sentences with ease. How she can
effortlessly pronounce the vintage language that created a story I loved so much. Seeing this every
christmas eve made me yearn to be able to read just like her one day. It was Christmas eve in 2006

An emotion I have never felt up to this point in my young life. It was confidence. Confidence is
what made me finish the story all the way through without giving up. Confidence is what pushed me
to keep try at those words that were not in my vocabulary at the time. I felt confident after reading
because I accomplished something I had been wanting for years. This moment of me taking on a
challenge to read, never giving up, and discovering what it feels to be confident changed my outlook
on reading forever. Ever since then, I began to love the feeling of confidence and started to use it in
multiple aspects of my life. However in my youth, I mainly used it during school in my elementary
years. I started to volunteer to read in class and was more confident in myself to open my thoughts
up to the class. Now that I am older, there is an eternal appreciation within me for my parents. For
them instilling that Christmas tradition of reading "The Night Before Christmas" on Christmas eve.
Because if they had never done that, I would have never discovered my confidence. In my mind as a
six year old, I never thought I would gain such an important skill as confidence by reading "The
Night before Christmas" with my mom like any other Christmas eve before

The First Christmas Of My Family

  • 1. The First Christmas Of My Family December 24th, 2016 was the first Christmas I spent in America with my host family. All kinds of decoration were ready to light up and a variety of gifts were set up under the Christmas tree . My host parents and I were hanging up the Christmas socks at the fireplace. Within the 8 socks this year, there were three of them did not belong to the fireplace anymore. Baddy, Peter, and Jasmine, their socks were hung at the second–floor platform, a place for the dogs that no longer with us. Standing by the entrance door, I looked upward to the third sock with Jasmine's name on it. With Jasmine's Christmas sock moving from the fireplace and taking an empty space on the second floor, I realized something was change. It was not only about the dogs but also myself. Looked at the socks, I couldn't help to recall the memory between Jasmine and I. The first time I met Jasmine was from the pictures my host family sent to me before I came to America. In one of the pictures, there were 2 big dogs chasing each other around in the back yard. One was Jasmine a nine–year–old black lab–mix, the other one was Haley, a 12 years old dalmatian mix with black patterns on the white fur. I worried that if I could get along with the dogs because for the first sixteen years in my life there never was a dog around. In my mind, I stereotyped big dogs as an aggressive and fierce animal. However, once I met them, I started to seem them as the best dogs in the world. Just like any other big dogs, Haley and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. My Favorite Holiday Christmas is my favorite holiday. I was so excited since it was only 1 day away!!! I already made my christmas list which include this: Iphone 8 plus Soccer cleats Soccerball I'm 13 years old, so I surely know that Santa doesn't exist (sorry for destroying yalls hope). My older brother and I been knew that our parents buy the presents and leaves it under the tree so they can make it look like santa came. Though my little baby brother doesn't know that so let's make him think that. But we also don't want our parents to know that we know that they are the ones who bring the presents so we keep that lowkey. But woooohh let me tell yall the day we actually did believe it was Santa. So it was Christmas Eve and my brothers and I knew we would have presents in the morning. That night we decide to sleep early around 9:00 p.m. I went to my room and fell asleep. Though I woke up to ANdres coming in my room screaming "KIMMM!!" So my first instinct was to scream too. We tried to turn on the light but the power went off. The next thing I know I was hugging him. Suddenly the lights came on and we noticed we hugging. So we quickly pushed each other and pretend nothing happen. We ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Christmas break just so happens to be the longest break! Discluding summer, of course. I'm here to tell you about my Christmas break and all the fun things that happened! The days leading up to Christmas we're definitely not the best days of the break! However, they were the days building up the excitement inside of me with how close Christmas was! Christmas Eve made up for that! On Christmas Eve we did a lot of fun things. We made home–made pizzas. We all got onesies. We did everything we could to perpetuate the fun as long as possible. • 12. Christmas Tradition In Irving Christmas : My Great Christmas White Christmas is a tradition in my family. My Great–Grandmother started it years ago and my Grandmother (Mum) has carried on the tradition to my Mom and now all of her granddaughters. It is a time of togetherness, where we sing–along with the movie, snack on finger–foods and talking and remembering past years of Christmases. This Irving Berlin movie first aired in the movie theater in 1954, in the midst of many musicals. It is by far, one of the best Christmas movie that was ever made. I hope to continue this tradition with my children and grandchildren, and keep it going for my Great–Grandmother. White christmas opening setting is Christmas Eve 1944 on the front line nearing the end of World War II. Two Army guys, Captain Bob Wallace, an already famous New York City entertainer and Private Phil Davis perform a Christmas program and a farewell production for General Tom Waverly just before and air raid on the troops. Private Davis saves captain Wallace from a falling building and injures his arm in the process. Shortly after the bombing. Private Davis is recuperating in medical tent when Captain Wallace stops to check on him and to thank him one more for saving his life. Private Davis has written a duet and proposes that they perform it together when the war is over. Captain Wallace tells him that he works along then Private Davis grabs his own arm and rolls his eyes and says that he understands. Captain Wallace then tells him that he is indebted to him and they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. It Is The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" Throughout the year, there are many occasions that bring my family together to celebrate. We celebrate birthdays, baptisms, and generally when the sun is shining bright. However, there is one holiday that stands out as my favorite, Christmas. It is a time of year "with lots of fun and cheer." Although this statement is cliché, it is also true. It is the time of year when the world is kinder; joy and good will are spread through the world. In my family, Christmas brings us together to celebrate each other in love at the end of the year. It is a time when we show a little more kindness to a stranger, laugh and commune with each other, and fill our bellies with food. Christmas is the time of year when the best of human nature shines through. People spend more time saying hello and goodbye. We show gratitude for little things that we would normally ignore. One tends to reflect on the blessings they received throughout the year. They reflect on the things that are most important like family and friendship, good health, and well– being. Generally even the shrewdest and grouchiest person, is slightly nicer during this time of year. Strangers give to charities and homeless shelters. People give their time by volunteering in soup kitchens and hospitals. Although these random acts of kindness should be displayed more throughout the year, it is nice to observe during Christmas. The meaning of Christmas is important to me because it brings my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 16. The Book Thief "Words are life, Liesel" said Max Vanderburg – a hidden Jewish to Liesel Meminger – an ambitious and young girl. In "The book thief" movie, directed by Brian Percival, the connection between two protagonists reinforced by the skilled techniques and advanced up by colours, symbols and camera angles. All connections showed effectively and controlled were in the Christmas scene of this movie. This scene positively affected my thinking about the bond within the family for the strangers. This movie took place in Germany back to the 1940s, therefore, it showed as pale and pure colours, such as: black, grey, muddy brown and army green. The combination of those tones reminded of the ancient town and covered with sadness. Sorrow and happiness are opposite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At Christmas night, all Han's member gathered in the basement and they celebrated this holiday quietly, heartfully and warmly. Throughout the scene, Brian genuinely played close–up angles to every details of characters emotions and expressions to provoke the feeling of audiences. Your truly emotional can be kept by yourself but from the high–techniques of the camera, all those feelings from character will be shown up evidently. "This is the most stupid thing I've ever done" – Rosa said it with disappointed tone but she quietly smiled, afterward, I recognised that she is soft–hearted woman and likely to take care of her family silently. In the last century, Rosa was the iconic women whom devoted all the rest of her life to maintain the wellbeing of the family and invested all her mind to build up the best for her "little family". Crucially, the camera shots are those components drawn my attention to "The Book Thief", thus I felt sympathetic to Liesel for her circumstance in the new country. In the intention of the movie, Rosa is my favourite character because from her, I learnt the lesson of caring and working tirelessly to cope with the family's condition. Productively, from the semi–close angles, as a viewer, I found the hardship under Rosa's vision and the happiness in Liesel's expressive voice; "This is my first Christmas" – excited, cheerful girl told her parent and Max with ... I continued on my daily evening saunter, in the bitter, cold air, gazing at the children on the other side of the fence playing outdoors in the mounds of white snow. Joyously appearing as if layering ten garments for the sake of stepping outside was to be fun. I would like to believe that I do not envy the children with happy childhoods and amorous families, but I know dejectedly, I still do. You could call me a "Grinch" during this time of year I guess. Albers, sharing the same last name as me, comes from my father's side of the family. On June 26th, 1855, Albers was born to his mother, Helga Gertz, and his father, Henry Albers. Residing in Schleswig–Holstein, Germany, the family was Lutheran and seeked a better life in America, a country providing them religious freedom – a religious pull. The family, being from a country that was mainly Catholic, wanted to practice their religion freely without the constraints Catholicism. In 1865, him and his family settled in Davenport, Iowa where he would live into adulthood. Albers was ten years old when he immigrated to America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The festivities last for a whole month: from December 6th, the feast of St. Nichols, until January 6th, the feast of the wise men. Similar to the American Christmas traditions, Christmas trees are a large part of the holiday celebration. In Germany, unlike America, the Christmas tree is secretly brought into the house the night of Christmas Eve and is decorated by the mother. Trees are most famously decorated with hand blown glass ornaments and tinsel. Another German tradition unlike America's is that presents are usually exchanged and opened on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas Day. Germans also celebrate Zweiter Weihnactsfeirtag the day after Christmas. Zweiter Weihnactsfeirtag directly translates to Boxing Day, the holiday also celebrated in Canada. Though unlike Canada, where Boxing Day is a time for shopping and finding discounts, in Germany, Boxing Day is like a second Christmas. Families spend time with their grandparents and godparents. Things like board games, watching TV, and other typical bonding activities are done. This day, for the Germans, is a quiet day to relax and prepare for the rest of the Christmas ... This money goes to the Christmas clearing Council to help buy Christmas gifts for families in need at Waukesha North. We actually got to go shopping before Christmas and pick out the gifts for the families with the money we raised. This was very humbling for me because they didn't ask for much. All they really wanted was a pair of socks and a t–shirt. Nothing big, nothing fancy. The thought of people not getting gifts on Christmas really never occurred to me until then. How The Grinch Stole Christmas Not only do "The Gift of the Magi" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" both show the theme that the best gifts are received through actions, they also both develop the theme through symbolism. In the story, "The Gift of the Magi", when Della was explaining to James as to why she cut her hair, Della clarifies, "'Maybe the hairs of my head can be counted,' she said, 'but no one could ever count my love for you.'" (O. Henry, 5) This shows that Della's hair symbolizes her love for James, and how it meant more to her than her most valued possession. By stating, "'no one could ever count my love for you,'" demonstrates that even though their love cannot be seen, their love was eternal and her love will never succumb to anything else, especially ... • 32. Thanksgiving Is A Day Of Giving Thanks We all have our favorite time of the year; it might be summer, spring, fall or even winter. The holidays are a time for celebrations, decorating and heartwarming love. The holidays are just a joyous time of the year. They are also a time for family, friends, and great food and let 's not forget a break from work. But my overall favorite time of the year is the holiday season, Thanksgiving and Christmas and the family traditions that brings out the holiday spirit. To start with, Thanksgiving is a day of giving thanks. It is not only a time to give thanks on that day, but to be thankful throughout the entire year. Thanksgiving is not just about the turkey and dressing, the honey ham or the pecan pies; it is day for families to gather together, enjoy each other and give thanks for the many blessings we have received. It is a day where we gather at my house and everyone pitches in and brings their favorite dish. I provide the main meal, the chicken and dressing and my daughter, Tamika does the potato salad. We usually purchase our desserts and my granddaughter, Alexus likes to set the table, and she does it so beautifully. Thanksgiving is when we all get full, stuffed and just lazy and sleepy. We gather around in the living room to watch the Dallas Cowboys football game, the kids play their video games and lastly the night ends with everyone shopping for the Black Friday deals, that's the exciting part of it all. • 34. The Mariah Carey Christmas Special 2014 The concert that I have selected for my review is the Mariah Carey Christmas special 2014. The concert took place on December 16 at the beacon theater in New York City and it lasted for approximately an hour. The concert opened with a performance by a ballerina with classical music. Then followed by the entrance of Mariah Carey, who was at the center of the stage. The visual of the concert I have to say personally was amazing and impressive, it had a big Christmas tree in the back and background with the stars and snowflakes hang from the ceilings, very Christmas like to me. Her band was dressed in white; she had backup singers and a choir right behind her. She began her concert with the famous Hark! The Herald Angels Sing / Gloria, personally I was moved by the way she sang that song, it was moving, it provokes many emotions to me, however this is a song that has a lot of high notes and it was very hard to hear her voice because she was not able to sing it the way she did. Although she did not preform this song like she used to, I have to admit that it made me cry a little, it such a beautiful song and even though she made have sang it under peach, I appreciated her voice and she was still able to make the song her and put a lot of emotions to it. She seemed to be singing under notes in other songs that she performed as well. Nine year old Anna love Christmas and so do I, I'm a three year old golden retriever and Anna is my best friend. The real meaning of Christmas to me is family, food and fun. My first reason why Christmas is important to me is family. When I woke up I rolled out of my dog bed and zoomed to the front door. While I stood there and waited for Anna to let me outside to do my thing I smelled something. "Yummy" I said to myself as I dashed into the kitchen to see what the smell was. I put my front paws on the counter and looked as far up as I could."Cookies!" I grabbed me one and demolished it in seconds. It was really good, they were Christmas cookies. "Rufus!" I ran to the door and she let me outside and I jumped off the porch into cold wet snow. Anna was smiling and laughing at me. I went to my bush and did my thing and zoomed back into the house. "Present time!" Anna's mom yelled."Yes! The best part of my day!" I said as I ran and snatched my present from under the Christmas tree. Anna got my stocking from over the warm fire."Merry Christmas Rufus!" she said to me as she gave me a big bone and a hug."THANK YOU!" I barked to her. Finally, one of my favorite parts about learning Australia Christmas, is that they have huge bonfires at the end of the day. They get together and hang out, they tell stories to each other. Also they gets laughs in, and play around making up time that they didn't get to spend with each other over the past year or so. Christmas is one of my all time favorite holidays! • 42. Personal Narrative: The Head Start Of Barrio Tortugo Growing up, my dad was my biggest role model. He taught me the value of helping others and caring for the community. Twenty years ago, my dad and his best friend established that it should be a right, not a privilege, for children to receive Christmas presents. Therefore, every year, they would dress up as Santa and his an elf to go donate presents to little kids from low–income families here in Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, years after they started this tradition, my dad's best friend passed away, and an economic crisis arose on the island, which that put an end to the donations my father received for the children. The teachers came up to me with a huge expression of gratitude, which and this confirmed to me that I was doing something right. Even though I was not making a change in everyone's life, I was making a meaningful change for these kids and their families. As we walked in the classrooms and handed out the presents, I could see the excitement build in the eyes of the children and their parent's faces filled with hope. I felt grateful for everything I had, my family and friends, but most of all for this experience that filled my heart with joy and proved to me that all the work and time I had invested in making this project, was utterly and completely worth it. Little girls and boys ran up and hugged me while parents told me how thankful they were for this opportunity. For the first time in my life, I felt like I made a difference. Christmas is known as the season of giving, and the joy on someone's face when one gives another a present. When I receive presents, the joy I feel is incomparable. Christmastime is truly special, and it brings families together. Christmas is celebrated by many families in different ways, and others do not celebrate Christmas at all. Being outside riding a dirt bike makes people feel better than when they are inside and busy being attached to their phone. I have never seen anyone riding a dirt bike mad, sad or feeling bad, I have only seen them feeling glad. On the contrary, I have seen many people angry or sad while using their electronic devices. When people use their electronic devices, it takes one out of reality, and they are less likely to interact with others around them, which is a bad habit. The years of my life when I had my dirt bike, they were the happiest years of my life, I appreciated creation more, and I also interacted with others more. Dirt bikes are the best Christmas presents that have been created for numerous reasons, and electronic items can be detrimental to our livelihoods. • 46. My Worst Christmas Christmas is supposed to be one of the happiest days of the year for me. It really sucks to spend it in the hospital... Last Christmas was the worst Christmas ever! I had went to the orthodontist a few days before Christmas and spent the day in Springfield. A couple days after, I had the most sore throat, it hurt so bad. I told my mom and she gave me some cough drops to help relieve the pain I was feeling in my throat. I thought my allergies were just acting up and it would be better the next day. The next morning I woke up and it was worse and my whole body ached and I did not want to move because it hurt so bad. I was also shivering because I was so cold! My mom thought there was something wrong so she took my temperature and it was 101 degrees. After that, she called the doctors and scheduled me an appointment for that afternoon. I was feeling worse by then and my temperature keep getting higher and higher. When we got to the doctor, she took one look at me and said she could tell I definitely did not feel good. And I didn´t! She told me I probably have the flu and I need to get lots of rest and drink fluids, just like what every other doctor would say. She prescribed me some ibuprofen and sent me home. On the way home, we stopped and got ice cream. When we got home, I took as much ibuprofen that I was allowed and tried to go to sleep. I fell asleep and when I woke up I was dripping with sweat but I felt so much better, but not 100%. My mom told me she had checked on my while I was asleep and my fever had broke. She had told me that when she took my temperature with the thermometer that goes across your head, that she forgot to take the cap off and it read 80 degrees! She freaked out and checked my pulse because she thought I died! That gave me a much needed laugh when she told me that. As the day went on, I started feeling worse and worse. My throat was getting more sore and I felt like there was an elephant sitting on my chest. I had so much stuff in my lungs I felt like I could hardly breathe. I had a constant headache and all the muscles in my body ached. I did not sleep any that night. However, there was something very different about one bag that separated it from all of the others. My mom asked me to unload the items and organize them into their awaiting shelves. Their contents contained typical groceries such as cereal, some new herbal teas, and a fresh bottle of dish detergent. But, this special bag carried a large Yankee candle encased in glass and embellished with a large sticker reading "Christmas Cookie". On the label a petite tree shaped sugar cookie sat on a plate. Immediately, I smiled because cookie scented candles are my absolute favorite. I rushed to the second drawer of the kitchen island and pulled out the lighter and instantaneously ignited the wick. As I watched the flame blossom with satisfaction, I was suddenly punched in the face by nostalgia. The warm, comforting and sweet smell of that candle had somehow transported me back to christmas a few years ago. I was a joyful, little third grader. • 66. Literary Analysis Of Truman Capote's Last Christmas With Sook "A Christmas Memory", an eloquently written account of Truman Capote's last Christmas with his dear friend, Sook. The story is set during the 1930s in a rural southern section of Alabama. Capote recalls his last Christmas with Sook, who is his "sixty–something" (3) year old cousin who has childlike tendencies. Sook refers to Capote as Buddy throughout the story. Buddy and Sook share a home with other relatives, who throughout the story, berate them with harsh words and are overall unkind. However, the relatives unknowingly strengthen their bond and aid in forging an unbreakable friendship between the two. Capote manages to pen a captivating memoir of his last Christmas with Sook using an engaging writing style with an enthralling use of vivid language. One of the ways Capote captivates his readers is by using vivid language to make the reader feel joyful, giddy and excited. "My dancing shadow rollicks on the walls; our voices rock the chinaware; we giggle: as if unseen hands were tickling us" (23). Notably this passage is composed by giving the reader a sense of silliness as we imagine the auditory impulsivity of loud singing. Capote's whimsical language takes a step further with his use of "...unseen hands were tickling us" (23) to illustrate the feeling of Buddy and Sook's giddiness. Another way he uses imagery is with, "...the beginnings of dawn splash us like cold water..." (36). As a result, his passage allows the reader to feel suddenly overwhelmed. Capote wants to grasp the urgency of waking up Christmas morning and capture the excitement of not wanting to make waste of any time. Capote uses vivid language to make us feel cheerful; likewise, he also uses it to make us feel the heaviness of heartache within the household. Capote's use of language equally portrays a sense of misery and somberness. For example, during the whiskey scene, the relatives in the household erupt into the room with, "eyes that scold, tongues that scald" (24). The verbiage used is sharp and graphic. Notably, in the same passage, the relatives say, "shame! scandal! humiliation! kneel, pray, beg the Lord!" (24). Above all, these three things are of the utmost importance to Sook. Her religion, her friendship with Buddy, and her mental ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
