A Report On Phr ( Personal Health Record )
INTRODUCTION: I am going to prepare a report on PHR (personal health record), What are its
benefits and How it is useful.PHR is an E–device used by the patients to maintain their health
information in a safe and secure environment. This stands in opposite to the more likely used e–
medical record and data is operated by hospitals and contains data entered by physician or billing
data to help insurance company. The proposition of a PHR is to give a total and brief outline of a
patient's health history which is available on the internet. The information data on a PHR may
consolidate patient–reported result data, lab results, data from contraptions, for instance, remote
electronic measuring scales or assembled inactively from an advanced cell phone. BACKGROUND

Who Is Charles Lindbergh A Hero
The 1920s was a decade of prosperity and prelude to the diverse introduction of new technologies.
At the same time the automobile became popular, aircraft began to develop. Although during the
World War II, aircraft is widely used to attack into enemy lines, prior to this, aircraft was used to
deliver mail and compete for the distance it could fly without making any stop. One such aviator,
Charles A. Lindbergh challenged to the first solo transatlantic flight and in a moment, he became
one of the America's most beloved hero.
Charles Lindbergh was born on February 4, 1902, in Detroit, Michigan and raised on a farm in Little
Falls, Minnesota after 1905, when their house burned down. Although he was a son of a lawyer and
a congressman, he preferred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The flight would last more than 3600 miles but, indeed it is the shortest route. During his flight, he
had encountered several challenges such as cold climate and clouds that block his sight. But the
most difficulty was to stay awake. In total, he hasn't slept in 55 hours because of pre–flight
preparation and the long journey itself. In order to prevent from falling asleep, he kept the windows
open and flew near the surface of the ocean, which makes chilly sea spray. But the lack of rest
caused him to experience hallucinations and he later claimed that he spotted a mirage–like "fog
islands" and even apparitions spoke to him (Andrews Evan, 2014). Overall, the flight took 33 and a
half hours and Lindbergh completed first solo transatlantic flight.
Lindbergh's achievement has spread around the world and changed the aviation history. The media
and the public nicknamed "Lucky Lindy," or "The Lone Eagle" and he became famous everywhere.
He received many prestigious honors, including Distinguished Flying Cross medal from President
Calvin Coolidge. He traveled around the country to give speeches and participate in parades, which
honored his courageous achievement. Later, he made several more flights internationally and
reflected his legendary flight in the book, We in 1927, and later in his life, Of Flight and Life (1948)

Issues Affecting the Climate of St. Louis and the Bi-State...
One of the primary earth systems is the water, or hydrological cycle. This cycle represents the
continuous movement of water on, above, and below the earth. It is a natural process that, when
balanced, regulates the available water on the planet in a way that is not only relatively consistent,
but overtime will allow for a balanced ecosystem. The water cycle, in general, takes water from one
reservoir or holding area (say clouds) and allows it to move into another through various processes.
The actual cycle moves continually through the process of evaporation, condensation, and
precipitation. The water cycle also helps regulate and control temperature, which in turn helps
regulate weather patterns. The basic water cycle may be viewed as a four stage model:
Evaporation (transpiration) Heat from the sun warms water from rivers, lakes, and the ocean to turn
into vapor or steam; leaving the reservoir and moving upwards into the atmosphere. (Plants
transpire, or lose water from their leaves).
Condensation As the evaporated water vapor gets colder rising into the atmosphere, it changes back
into different levels of liquid clouds of different types.
Precipitation Depending on the temperature, season, type of cloud, and other conditions,
precipitation occurs when the water that has evaporated becomes so heavy the clouds cannot hold it
anymore and it falls back to earth as rain, hail, sleet, or snow (The Water Cycle, 2009; Wilkinson,
2007).

A Summary On Adlerian Theory
Adlerian Theory
Todd Overstreet
Liberty University
Abstract
Adlerian theory, which is named after the famous psychotherapist Alfred Adler, is used mainly to
give emphasis to birth order, theories relating to inferiority and superiority, individual life styles, and
social interests as the main workings of personality. In Adlerian theory, mental well–being is
decided by the degree of social contribution that is helpful to the greater community to the extent
that one incorporates and advances the social context, therefore the size of his or her psychological
well–being. Social contributions are heightened with the decrease of inaccurate beliefs. This can
often steer us to have maladaptive feelings of inferiority or superiority. The objective of battling
untrue beliefs is achieved through comprehension of family groups, youthful recollections as well as
dreams. (Livingston, 2009)
History of Theory Alfred Adler, who lived from1870–1937, was a world famous theorist and
psychiatrist. He emphasized the need to learn about people inside of their social setting. Throughout
the early 1900 's, he started concentrating on such critical and modern problems such as
egalitarianism, parental education, and effect of the birth order, way of life and the holism of people.
He also understood that everyone has a simple want and objective. That objective is for us to fit in
and to feel substantial. (Corey, 2013) He established the first universal philosophy of

Mt.Vesuvius and its 79 AD Eruption Essay
Volcano: A hill or mountain formed around and above a vent by accumulations of erupted materials,
such as ash, pumice, cinders or lava–flow. The term refers both to the vent itself and to the often
cone–shaped accumulation above it. (Scarth, 1994.) This definition can do Mt. Vesuvius no justice.
Instead, I would describe it as one of the most hellish and population decimating volcanoes.
Vesuvius lives...or lived! In its prime, Vesuvius covered and demolished two of Italy's biggest
cultural and artistic cities of its time. In this paper, I will be discussing volcanoes in general. In
addition, Mt. Vesuvius, in particular, will be thoroughly looked at, as well as its 79 AD eruption. ...

Others have more lava than ash, or more ash than lava; some may consist of 50% ash and 50% lava
flow layers. There is a reservoir inside the earth filled with melted rock called magma. (Scarth,
1994) At the top of the reservoir is a tunnel that the magma climbs through to the top. Shapes of
volcanoes' cone are described in the next paragraph. The magma and other volcanic material come
out of the cone when the volcano erupts. (Scarth, 1994) An eruption will actually occur when the
magma is subjected to pressure. (Rittman, 1976) The magma begins to rise and may overflow in the
form of lava. It may also begin to move downwards along the sides of the mountain. Several shapes
of volcanoes are found throughout the world.
There are several different types of volcanoes. After reviewing many of them, I decided to write on
three major ones. These consist of the shield volcanoes, strato (composite) volcanoes, and caldera
complex volcanoes. Like the ones you may see in Hawaii, shield volcanoes are in the shape of wide
plateau mounds. The eruption frequency tends to be very high. These volcanoes have low–
explosivity. The lava from

Achieving Nothing Except Revenge: Research Shows That...
In Jamestown Colony, Virginia, in 1608, the first execution in America took place (Urbina 8). Since
then, the debate over capital punishment has been never–ending, capturing the attention of citizens
of all types. Americans have argued relentlessly over many issues that the death penalty brings to
politics, economics, and moral values. In the article titled "Does Death Penalty Save Lives? A New
Debate," Adam Liptak explores both sides of the debate, highlighting the benefits that the death
penalty provides to society. He states that the death penalty deters murders and accepts that innocent
men might become casualties in the process. However, other experts disagree with Liptak. Opposing
research shows that the death penalty does not deter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If ninety percent of the top three criminology organization's presidents agreed that the death penalty
is a waste of time, one could make an assumption that the other experts conducted surveys and polls
on citizens that were uneducated on the different aspects of the death penalty. To further support the
researchers at the University of Florida, Michael Radelet, the chairperson of the university's
sociology department and an expert on the death penalty, states that, "Among the experts, there is
overwhelming consensus that the death penalty never has been, is not, and never could be a
deterrent to homicide over and above long imprisonment."(RESEARCH: Death Penalty Doesn't
Deter Violence... 3A). This sound agreement of experts further goes on to prove Sunstein and
Mocan wrong. In addition, a survey found that two thirds of police chiefs did not believe that the
death penalty had a deterrent effect, because few criminals thoroughly think through the
consequences of a crime before committing it (Cooper 21). Furthermore, violent crime rates
continue to rise and fall regardless of how many sentences of execution take place (RESEARCH:
Death Penalty Doesn't Deter Violence... 3A). Albert Pierrepoint, of Amnesty International, says
"Capital Punishment in my view achieves nothing except revenge" (Cooper 21). Achieving revenge

Jodi Huisentruit: A Case Study
Imagine that the local news is on and the news reporter that was beloved by all is giving the daily

Have you ever heard of the saying, 'BROKE COLLEGE STUDENT?' When I first saw this ad for
the Affinity Plus scholarship walking through St. Cloud State University (SCSU), inside of Atwood.
I was having one of those days in every college student's career, where you could imagine your
whole world being on fire and in the midst of it all you could see yourself sitting somewhere,
thinking to yourself, "How am I going to be able to get through this mess now?" In times like those,
I always think back to a favorite author of mine Na'Mim Akbar, who said, "You can curtail my

In the cities of Wichita Falls and Vernon, the thought of economic growth and the reduction of
poverty does not usually cross the minds of most citizens, but as the economic advisor of both cities,

The Relationship Between Depositional Optimism And...
Since few studies have explored the relationship between depositional optimism and environmental
attitudes, my goal is to discover if the personality trait might have an influence on attitudes and the
willingness to act. My first hypothesis is that on a spectrum between dispositional optimism and
pessimism, those who reside on the extreme ends of both spectrums will be less likely to act in an
environmental friendly manner. If an individual, who is located on the high end of dispositional
optimism will contemplate that there are no issues with climate change or that a certain intervention
will happen that will reduce the adverse reaction, will not act to protect the environment. However,
an individual at the high end of dispositional pessimism might consider that the problem is too
overwhelming and feel that his or her involvement will not accomplish any difference.
My second hypothesis states that spatial bias will be apparent to both dispositional optimists and
pessimists when it comes to environmental attitudes. An individual will think environmental issues
will become harsher the further the distance expands, for evaluations now and in the future. My
third hypothesis is that dispositional pessimists will be more negative on temporal biases compared
to dispositional optimists. I also want to explore the correlation between environmental attitudes and
willingness to take action. These two hypotheses relate to the research from Gifford et al. (2008),

There are 50 million people in the United States who have some kind of disability. People with
disabilities are discriminated against in the United States. It is not a discrimination that is talked
about like race, or gender. This discrimination usually takes the form of avoidance. People to do
understand, or know how to act around a person with a disability, so they ignore the person. This is
not right because people should not be defined by a disability; instead they need to be recognized as
a person, just like any one else. We need to provide awareness about people with disabilities.
Students and adults with disabilities can be hidden away in the world and are not always given a

In to many cases people with a disability a judged and underestimated. Hopefully when people
spend time with them they will understand that a person with a disability can do anything anyone
else can just in a different way. I want people to understand that judging people is never right.
Be A Friend is the way we propose to address this problem. The intent of Be A Friend is simple:
educate people about people with disabilities, and give people with disabilities a chance to expand
their friendships. It takes one person to start the change. The way to do this is by making friends.
Have people with and without disabilities spend time with each other. By doing this, people may
understand that someone with a disability is just a person. It will also, expand the knowledge of a
person with a disability on the idea of what friend is. The goal is to make friends. The outcome is
expanding the worlds knowledge of people with disabilities.
Be a Friend is a new organization that is currently focused in the Saint Cloud area. The mission of
this organization is to give people with disabilities a chance to grow, explore and have fun with
people who are there because they want to be. By doing this, the organization also hopes to expand
awareness to the community about people with disabilities. The organization hopes that in a few

Advertising is a form of communication between producers and consumers attained through
marketing which persuades, encourages or manipulates the consumer to be drawn to a certain good

It was the era in which high class and sophistication was seen as important . For that reason, the
characters in the cigarette advertisements were presented as rich and respected. At first smoking was
a hobby dominated by men. In the United States men represented 95% of the market , hence,
cigarette companies launched advertisements that were appealing to them. This is apparent in
Appendix 1, Chesterfield's advertisement from the 1920's, which was intended to appeal to viewers
through their representation of gender. The advert is comprised of a man dressed up in a well–cut
suit and a woman with a translucent dress, set before a background of a shining moon and dark sea,
which makes it romantic and mysterious. They are positioned in a way that makes it seem like the
man is protecting the woman. This appeals to the men that the advertisements were targeted at. As in
Appendix 1, men and women were typically dressed up in smart suits and elegant dresses in
cigarette advertisements during the beginning of the 1900's, making them look rich and
sophisticated. The characters in Appendix 1 are positioned in a comfortable way, making them seem
relaxed which makes them appear more attractive and satisfied. Graphic design was also used in

Commentary On Into Thin Air By Jon Krakauer
By far the most inspiring book I have read is "Into thin Air". It is a heartbreaking story from the eye
of an amazing climber and writer Jon Krakauer. From the moment I began reading this book, I loved
it! I always was in awe of mountain climbing, but before reading this book, I was uninformed of
what it is truly like to climb high altitude pitches, the ordeal the guides endure and the
mountaineering culture in general.
Jon Krakauer's account gave light to numerous miniscule details about what happened on his trip
and in general on how to climb the world's tallest mountain from the close quarters of Kathmandu to
the expansiveness of the top of the world to in–between of the drama at the south side base camp in
Nepal. It made me fall in love with the job of being a mountain guide. ... Show more content on

responsibility is ensuring their climbers are safe at all times, which is extremely difficult due to
climbers personality, experience or lack of experience of climbers and rapidly changing weather
conditions.

The Latin American Student Association, or LASA, is the club on campus that promotes Latin

I Am A Master 's Program Of Information Assurance
I had been a dental major for three years, until I suffered an accident in 2002. I needed the right

Narrative Essay On Mexican Culture
Growing up in an area with a large Mexican community I never really understood how much my
culture means to me. I grew up with the stories my dad and grandfather would tell me about my
ancestors. My people were the raiders from the hills of Mexico City and that we were a family of
warriors. I never held much weight to the warrior part of my grandfather's stories but I did know that
my great grandfather was a fighter. He left Mexico and rode the train up to Denton Texas and sold
tamales on the square his entire life. He fought to give my grandfather a better life here. I don't talk
about my dad's side of the family much, in this day in age being seen as white has more advantages
than being seen as Mexican. This thought changed as I came to

The Solar System : How Our Understanding Has Changed
INT 1 Task 1
Beth Warner
Western Governors University
Part 1 – Solar System: How Our understanding Has Changed
Example 1: First Thoughts
During the first millennium B.C. scientists realized that astronomy had to become more scientific.
Middle Eastern and Chinese cultures started studying the Sun, stars and the planets more closely in
an attempt to learn more about our position in the universe.. Star positions also became important
tools in understanding directions, and helping with navigation. One philosopher stated in 434 B.C.
that the Sun was a ball of fire 60 kilometres in diameter, hovering 6500 kilometres above Earth's
surface. Around 130 B.C., Ptolemy wrote Almagest, which was a huge collection of astronomical
data which included mathematical models, information about eclipses, and planetary and stellar
positions and movements. It remained a major go to book for astronomy for hundreds of years, and
was not seriously challenged until Copernicus disputed the geocentric model of the solar system in
the 1500's
Example 2: Changing Technology
By the 16th century, astronomers began to note irregularities in the accepted model of the solar
system. In the early 1500s, Nicolaus Copernicus noted that the planets had slight discrepancies
between their observed and presumed positions. Copernicus thought that the Sun was

Different Types Of Volcanoes : Causes, And Natural Disasters
Volcanoes are natural disasters that scientists have been trying to figure out for years, how and why
volcanoes erupt. This is advice from a volcano, "Stay active keep your inner fire burning it's okay to
let off steam go with the flow and have a blast (Your True Nature)! There are different types of
volcanoes that form certain ways and some volcanoes are active and inactive now. A volcano is a
cone shaped mountain or cracks in the ground that shoot out lava, molten rock, ash and gases, from
inside the earth. Volcano eruptions happen because two tectonic plates move away from each other
leaving a gap (Ganeri). Scientists believe that magma from the mantle causes these plates to move
(Netzley). Magma then rises to fill the gap as a thin fluid lava. It either explodes violently or just
ejects out streams of lava ("Volcano"). There are different types of volcanoes. A volcano gets its
name by the shape and the way it erupts. There are Central volcanoes and Fissure volcanoes. There
are different types of Central Volcanoes, including the following, Cinder Cones, Composite, Domes,
and Shields. A Central volcano forms when lava comes out of a larger cantal even. When the lava
cools it forms a cone of volcanic rock around the vent. A Fissure volcano forms when lava comes
out of large openings. The openings can be miles long, they are so long, lava oozes out and spreads
over the whole area. Once a volcano erupts they are known as extinct volcanoes because scientists
believe once a

Minnesota State Fair
Just Like Old Times
Going to the State Fair crowded with people, walking around for hours, and on a hot day does not
sound like a fun day to me. Boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. Although the drive was not fun,
considering I just had shoulder surgery 6 days prior, it was an overall fun time.
My whole family planned to go to the Minnesota State Fair to see Carrie Underwood perform. Since
I have two brothers who no longer live at home, we are rarely all together, except holidays. All six
of my family members cramped into the same car felt like old times again. The trip to the fair
brought back old memories of road tripping to Florida, the Dakotas the West Coast and Yellowstone
National Park. My brother, Justin, recently graduated from North Dakota Sate University and moved
back to the St. Cloud area, so I get to see him more often than I used to. My other brother, Josh,
lives in Minneapolis and is currently attending the University of Minnesota, so I only get to see him

I'm the type of guy who loves his cheese curds and various fried foods so the Minnesota State Fair

Sweet Martha's Cookies. A large bucket of oozing chocolate chip cookies piled high, life doesn't get
much better than that. Another one of my favorite activities to do at the fair is people watching.

The Woodland Quarry Park
With poor weather, it was clear that the species that thrived in the wooded areas survived more
effectively as a result of the protection that offered by the woods. Although more mosses and grasses
were present near the quarries, it was obvious that they were much more susceptible to wind, cold,
and rain. With fall in full swing, the vegetation near the quarries changed much sooner than the
woodland vegetation. Species Distribution: Woodland quarries provide a significant habitat for a
large number of species. "This park is an excellent place to educate people about the
interconnections that exist among bedrock, overburden, water, plants, and even human activities." –
George Shurr, Ph.D., Earth Science, St. Cloud State University (Stearns County Quarry Park and

The English Is Not English
English 191 is NOT English The English language has been around for more than 1,400 years. This
means that the language has been debated for many years. Studying English is required by all high
schools across our nation. We have studied grammar, written texts, and applied our knowledge with
our own writings. English 191 is not English because the class studies communication, focuses on
critical thinking, and the course outcomes are centered on how to use this class for future classes at
St. Cloud State University. First of all, all of the topics we have covered so far in class have been
focused on communication. The subject of communication is an entirely different area of study. It is
independent of English. Our basis of knowledge in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Not only do we study communication in general, but two of the three pieces of work we have
analyzed in class are speeches. The evidence I have outlined above points to the theory that English
191 is a communications class because of the units we study, the course description, the course
outcomes, and what certain types of texts we study. English 191 is a course that engages us to
become critical thinkers and actively participate with our peers. This class is a precursor to English
classes. The syllabus indicates that we will spend most of our time dealing with "how we think and
what we know". This lays the groundwork for critical thinking. We use how we think and what we
know to make judgements, which is critical thinking. This statement alone proves that this class
deals a lot with critical thinking. The syllabus goes on even further to say: "Our focus will be on
critical thinking and challenging our assumptions." English is the study of language. From my
viewpoint, we must be open–minded critical thinkers in order to study English. I prefer to think of
this class as a precursor to all English classes, and even arguably, all college–level courses.
Secondly, this class encourages engagement between our fellow students. Part of our grade is based
on participation. This means offering insight in class discussion and listening to other students. We
are also required to share at least five of our in–class writings out loud. These components do not

Never Leave Your Past Behind Analysis
Never Leave Your Past Behind
I grew up in a low–income, single–parent family on the far south–side of Chicago. My sister and her
family also lived with us. They needed a place to stay while they looked for a more affordable
house. One thing my family doesn't do is turn our backs on each other. Sociologists who claim to be
experts on non–white families have their own words for this type of situation. They derogatorily
label this as a poverty–stricken, Black matriarchal extended family who lives in the ghetto. Yet all in
all, we were happy because we helped each other. We were not the type of family who wondered
what the next meal would be. We always knew we would have food on the table, but the type of
food was a different story. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I got tired of staying up past 2:00 a.m. waiting for the house parties to end. The polluted, chemical–
like air was getting to me. I even got tired of my next door neighbor wanting to borrow sugar. She
actually told me, "I borrow it because it cost too much to buy." This is why I came to St. Cloud, to
get away from that environment and to be around the people who were achievers like myself.
Ahh! I was in a white, religious, middle–class area with people who understand the true meaning of
education and who were going to get "true" success. These were my role models, people who lived
in a nice, clean place. However, I soon found out they didn't feel as highly about me as I felt about
them.
The second day I was in St. Cloud, a white man stared at me in disgust and very abruptly dug his
finger in his nose. At first I looked him straight in his eyes; then feeling intimidated, I lowered my
head and kept walking. I did the complete opposite of what my grandmother told me. She said,
"Always walk up straight, and hold your head up high because you are a beautiful Black woman."
That same week, I couldn't believe what I heard. Two older white men walked past me and one of
them said, "Those fucking niggers shouldn't be here." As much as that hurt me, I smiled at both of
them and kept walking.
My friends at St. Cloud State criticized the way I talked. They said, "you talk like a Southerner."

Is Smaller Class Size Better Than Large Classes?
During your senior year in high school, many are confronted with multiple post–secondary options.
Months are spent diligently going over the pros and cons of each institution. While choosing the
perfect college, one significant argument is whether to go to a public or private institution. There are
many topics to debate within this argument itself, such as, cost, degree options, and class size. This
last one (class size) is a leading argument about whether smaller class sizes are better than larger
class sizes. Attending St. Cloud State University this fall and spring semester has led me to ponder
the benefits and the drawbacks of an education provided by this university. My purpose in writing is
to argue that the larger class sizes at St. Cloud State University are worse than the smaller classes
because of professor feedback, teaching assistants, and limited contact with our peers.
To start off, all classes are affected by this debate of whether small classes are better than large
classes. Every class should have the right to be small so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is easier for students to fall behind in larger classes. Students are not as engaged in the material.
TA's are given too much work to do. Large class sizes do not permit students to form relationships
with their professors. A small class setting is more essential to a quality education than a big class
setting at this University. My point is that St. Cloud State has both large class sizes and smaller class
sizes, but it is important to note that the small classes benefit the professors, students, and teaching
assistants more than the classes that have a multitude of students. College is not only a time
commitment, but also a huge financial commitment. If I do not have a fair opportunity to learn in a
smaller class setting, then this will end up being a waste of time and money if I am not able to have

Essay On Becoming A Marine
Marines are said to be the best for national state of emergency and 'the first to fight'. There are some
people that would say that there are too many risks and there are, but they are well worth the
protection of this country. Women seem to have the most risks while serving, but they know that
there are risks anyway. While the path to become a Marine is a difficult one, the transformation is
reward itself. Having the taxing training recruits go through, they must be able to have injury

The delicate balance of Southwest Florida's ecosystems is being threatened by a terrible danger

that many people fear will overrun the marine life surrounding our coast. If this problem isn't

Tide is completely out of our hands and is not affected by any human behavior. They claim that
there are only natural explanations to Red Tide. The websites for these associations contain
information stating that outbreaks of Red Tide are not linked to any human activities occurring on

that dust clouds from Africa form the basis for Red Tide, "like a story from the Old Testament" (1).
He cites measurements taken from satellites and on the ground to claim that these clouds are carried

used by plant–like bacteria called Trichodesmium. These bacteria put nitrogen in the water, which

For some reason I was considered to speak Spanish better than most, that's not true. My vocabulary
is not as extensive as others; I think it's simply that I am willing to speak.
Regardless, I was chosen to get us a ride so when a bus pulled up, I stepped in the door and asked if
the bus would be going to Costa Verde? Yes. How long would it take? Less then ten minutes. How
much was the fare? 130 Colones.
I ushered everyone on and made sure everyone paid the right amount, and we were off. I very
quickly realized, upon seeing the restaurant a few blocks from Costa Verde whiz by that I didn't
know how to stop this bus, I saw no string or button, there was no sign.
I was a bit panicked, everyone else panicked and was not being very helpful so I turned to the
Abuela sitting in the seats behind me and asked how I stopped the bus.
She smiled and leaned into the aisle, telling some folk sitting farther down to push the button. For
some reason the bus had two buttons that were quite far apart and not all that acessible.
Given this previous experience I was a little concerned about riding buses in general. An untimed,

  • 3. Who Is Charles Lindbergh A Hero The 1920s was a decade of prosperity and prelude to the diverse introduction of new technologies. At the same time the automobile became popular, aircraft began to develop. Although during the World War II, aircraft is widely used to attack into enemy lines, prior to this, aircraft was used to deliver mail and compete for the distance it could fly without making any stop. One such aviator, Charles A. Lindbergh challenged to the first solo transatlantic flight and in a moment, he became one of the America's most beloved hero. Charles Lindbergh was born on February 4, 1902, in Detroit, Michigan and raised on a farm in Little Falls, Minnesota after 1905, when their house burned down. Although he was a son of a lawyer and a congressman, he preferred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The flight would last more than 3600 miles but, indeed it is the shortest route. During his flight, he had encountered several challenges such as cold climate and clouds that block his sight. But the most difficulty was to stay awake. In total, he hasn't slept in 55 hours because of pre–flight preparation and the long journey itself. In order to prevent from falling asleep, he kept the windows open and flew near the surface of the ocean, which makes chilly sea spray. But the lack of rest caused him to experience hallucinations and he later claimed that he spotted a mirage–like "fog islands" and even apparitions spoke to him (Andrews Evan, 2014). Overall, the flight took 33 and a half hours and Lindbergh completed first solo transatlantic flight. Lindbergh's achievement has spread around the world and changed the aviation history. The media and the public nicknamed "Lucky Lindy," or "The Lone Eagle" and he became famous everywhere. He received many prestigious honors, including Distinguished Flying Cross medal from President Calvin Coolidge. He traveled around the country to give speeches and participate in parades, which honored his courageous achievement. Later, he made several more flights internationally and reflected his legendary flight in the book, We in 1927, and later in his life, Of Flight and Life (1948) and The Spirit of St.Louis ... • 5. Issues Affecting the Climate of St. Louis and the Bi-State... One of the primary earth systems is the water, or hydrological cycle. This cycle represents the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the earth. It is a natural process that, when balanced, regulates the available water on the planet in a way that is not only relatively consistent, but overtime will allow for a balanced ecosystem. The water cycle, in general, takes water from one reservoir or holding area (say clouds) and allows it to move into another through various processes. The actual cycle moves continually through the process of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation. The water cycle also helps regulate and control temperature, which in turn helps regulate weather patterns. The basic water cycle may be viewed as a four stage model: Evaporation (transpiration) Heat from the sun warms water from rivers, lakes, and the ocean to turn into vapor or steam; leaving the reservoir and moving upwards into the atmosphere. (Plants transpire, or lose water from their leaves). Condensation As the evaporated water vapor gets colder rising into the atmosphere, it changes back into different levels of liquid clouds of different types. Precipitation Depending on the temperature, season, type of cloud, and other conditions, precipitation occurs when the water that has evaporated becomes so heavy the clouds cannot hold it anymore and it falls back to earth as rain, hail, sleet, or snow (The Water Cycle, 2009; Wilkinson, 2007). • 7. A Summary On Adlerian Theory Adlerian Theory Todd Overstreet Liberty University Abstract Adlerian theory, which is named after the famous psychotherapist Alfred Adler, is used mainly to give emphasis to birth order, theories relating to inferiority and superiority, individual life styles, and social interests as the main workings of personality. In Adlerian theory, mental well–being is decided by the degree of social contribution that is helpful to the greater community to the extent that one incorporates and advances the social context, therefore the size of his or her psychological well–being. Social contributions are heightened with the decrease of inaccurate beliefs. This can often steer us to have maladaptive feelings of inferiority or superiority. The objective of battling untrue beliefs is achieved through comprehension of family groups, youthful recollections as well as dreams. (Livingston, 2009) History of Theory Alfred Adler, who lived from1870–1937, was a world famous theorist and psychiatrist. He emphasized the need to learn about people inside of their social setting. Throughout the early 1900 's, he started concentrating on such critical and modern problems such as egalitarianism, parental education, and effect of the birth order, way of life and the holism of people. He also understood that everyone has a simple want and objective. That objective is for us to fit in and to feel substantial. (Corey, 2013) He established the first universal philosophy of ... • 12. Mt.Vesuvius and its 79 AD Eruption Essay Volcano: A hill or mountain formed around and above a vent by accumulations of erupted materials, such as ash, pumice, cinders or lava–flow. The term refers both to the vent itself and to the often cone–shaped accumulation above it. (Scarth, 1994.) This definition can do Mt. Vesuvius no justice. Instead, I would describe it as one of the most hellish and population decimating volcanoes. Vesuvius lives...or lived! In its prime, Vesuvius covered and demolished two of Italy's biggest cultural and artistic cities of its time. In this paper, I will be discussing volcanoes in general. In addition, Mt. Vesuvius, in particular, will be thoroughly looked at, as well as its 79 AD eruption. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others have more lava than ash, or more ash than lava; some may consist of 50% ash and 50% lava flow layers. There is a reservoir inside the earth filled with melted rock called magma. (Scarth, 1994) At the top of the reservoir is a tunnel that the magma climbs through to the top. Shapes of volcanoes' cone are described in the next paragraph. The magma and other volcanic material come out of the cone when the volcano erupts. (Scarth, 1994) An eruption will actually occur when the magma is subjected to pressure. (Rittman, 1976) The magma begins to rise and may overflow in the form of lava. It may also begin to move downwards along the sides of the mountain. Several shapes of volcanoes are found throughout the world. There are several different types of volcanoes. After reviewing many of them, I decided to write on three major ones. These consist of the shield volcanoes, strato (composite) volcanoes, and caldera complex volcanoes. Like the ones you may see in Hawaii, shield volcanoes are in the shape of wide plateau mounds. The eruption frequency tends to be very high. These volcanoes have low– explosivity. The lava from Ziehm 3 shield volcanoes is liquid and flows from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Achieving Nothing Except Revenge: Research Shows That... In Jamestown Colony, Virginia, in 1608, the first execution in America took place (Urbina 8). Since then, the debate over capital punishment has been never–ending, capturing the attention of citizens of all types. Americans have argued relentlessly over many issues that the death penalty brings to politics, economics, and moral values. In the article titled "Does Death Penalty Save Lives? A New Debate," Adam Liptak explores both sides of the debate, highlighting the benefits that the death penalty provides to society. He states that the death penalty deters murders and accepts that innocent men might become casualties in the process. However, other experts disagree with Liptak. Opposing research shows that the death penalty does not deter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If ninety percent of the top three criminology organization's presidents agreed that the death penalty is a waste of time, one could make an assumption that the other experts conducted surveys and polls on citizens that were uneducated on the different aspects of the death penalty. To further support the researchers at the University of Florida, Michael Radelet, the chairperson of the university's sociology department and an expert on the death penalty, states that, "Among the experts, there is overwhelming consensus that the death penalty never has been, is not, and never could be a deterrent to homicide over and above long imprisonment."(RESEARCH: Death Penalty Doesn't Deter Violence... 3A). This sound agreement of experts further goes on to prove Sunstein and Mocan wrong. In addition, a survey found that two thirds of police chiefs did not believe that the death penalty had a deterrent effect, because few criminals thoroughly think through the consequences of a crime before committing it (Cooper 21). Furthermore, violent crime rates continue to rise and fall regardless of how many sentences of execution take place (RESEARCH: Death Penalty Doesn't Deter Violence... 3A). When I first saw this ad for the Affinity Plus scholarship walking through St. Cloud State University (SCSU), inside of Atwood. I was having one of those days in every college student's career, where you could imagine your whole world being on fire and in the midst of it all you could see yourself sitting somewhere, thinking to yourself, "How am I going to be able to get through this mess now?" In times like those, I always think back to a favorite author of mine Na'Mim Akbar, who said, "You can curtail my mobility but you can't limit my mentality." There are many factors that contribute towards these issues, like tax cuts, infrastructure spending, deregulation, and tax rebates (DePersio), but one focused inducer is agriculture development. • 22. The Relationship Between Depositional Optimism And... Since few studies have explored the relationship between depositional optimism and environmental attitudes, my goal is to discover if the personality trait might have an influence on attitudes and the willingness to act. My first hypothesis is that on a spectrum between dispositional optimism and pessimism, those who reside on the extreme ends of both spectrums will be less likely to act in an environmental friendly manner. If an individual, who is located on the high end of dispositional optimism will contemplate that there are no issues with climate change or that a certain intervention will happen that will reduce the adverse reaction, will not act to protect the environment. However, an individual at the high end of dispositional pessimism might consider that the problem is too overwhelming and feel that his or her involvement will not accomplish any difference. My second hypothesis states that spatial bias will be apparent to both dispositional optimists and pessimists when it comes to environmental attitudes. An individual will think environmental issues will become harsher the further the distance expands, for evaluations now and in the future. My third hypothesis is that dispositional pessimists will be more negative on temporal biases compared to dispositional optimists. I also want to explore the correlation between environmental attitudes and willingness to take action. These two hypotheses relate to the research from Gifford et al. (2008), except I am ... People with disabilities are discriminated against in the United States. It is not a discrimination that is talked about like race, or gender. This discrimination usually takes the form of avoidance. People to do understand, or know how to act around a person with a disability, so they ignore the person. This is not right because people should not be defined by a disability; instead they need to be recognized as a person, just like any one else. We need to provide awareness about people with disabilities. Students and adults with disabilities can be hidden away in the world and are not always given a chance to spend time with people without disabilities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In to many cases people with a disability a judged and underestimated. Hopefully when people spend time with them they will understand that a person with a disability can do anything anyone else can just in a different way. I want people to understand that judging people is never right. Be A Friend is the way we propose to address this problem. The intent of Be A Friend is simple: educate people about people with disabilities, and give people with disabilities a chance to expand their friendships. It takes one person to start the change. Case Study: Mainstreet At St. Cloud State Mainstreet at St. Cloud State is one of the biggest events for finding out everything there is to know about getting involved with the school, community, other students, etc. in various ways. INTRODUCTION Advertising is a form of communication between producers and consumers attained through marketing which persuades, encourages or manipulates the consumer to be drawn to a certain good or service in order to increase recognition and promote sales. For that reason, the characters in the cigarette advertisements were presented as rich and respected. At first smoking was a hobby dominated by men. In the United States men represented 95% of the market , hence, cigarette companies launched advertisements that were appealing to them. This is apparent in Appendix 1, Chesterfield's advertisement from the 1920's, which was intended to appeal to viewers through their representation of gender. The advert is comprised of a man dressed up in a well–cut suit and a woman with a translucent dress, set before a background of a shining moon and dark sea, which makes it romantic and mysterious. They are positioned in a way that makes it seem like the man is protecting the woman. This appeals to the men that the advertisements were targeted at. As in Appendix 1, men and women were typically dressed up in smart suits and elegant dresses in cigarette advertisements during the beginning of the 1900's, making them look rich and sophisticated. It is a heartbreaking story from the eye of an amazing climber and writer Jon Krakauer. From the moment I began reading this book, I loved it! I always was in awe of mountain climbing, but before reading this book, I was uninformed of what it is truly like to climb high altitude pitches, the ordeal the guides endure and the mountaineering culture in general. Jon Krakauer's account gave light to numerous miniscule details about what happened on his trip and in general on how to climb the world's tallest mountain from the close quarters of Kathmandu to the expansiveness of the top of the world to in–between of the drama at the south side base camp in Nepal. The Solar System : How Our Understanding Has Changed INT 1 Task 1 Beth Warner Western Governors University Part 1 – Solar System: How Our understanding Has Changed Example 1: First Thoughts During the first millennium B.C. scientists realized that astronomy had to become more scientific. Middle Eastern and Chinese cultures started studying the Sun, stars and the planets more closely in an attempt to learn more about our position in the universe.. Star positions also became important tools in understanding directions, and helping with navigation. One philosopher stated in 434 B.C. that the Sun was a ball of fire 60 kilometres in diameter, hovering 6500 kilometres above Earth's surface. Around 130 B.C., Ptolemy wrote Almagest, which was a huge collection of astronomical data which included mathematical models, information about eclipses, and planetary and stellar positions and movements. It remained a major go to book for astronomy for hundreds of years, and was not seriously challenged until Copernicus disputed the geocentric model of the solar system in the 1500's Example 2: Changing Technology By the 16th century, astronomers began to note irregularities in the accepted model of the solar system. This is advice from a volcano, "Stay active keep your inner fire burning it's okay to let off steam go with the flow and have a blast (Your True Nature)! There are different types of volcanoes that form certain ways and some volcanoes are active and inactive now. A volcano is a cone shaped mountain or cracks in the ground that shoot out lava, molten rock, ash and gases, from inside the earth. Volcano eruptions happen because two tectonic plates move away from each other leaving a gap (Ganeri). Scientists believe that magma from the mantle causes these plates to move (Netzley). Magma then rises to fill the gap as a thin fluid lava. It either explodes violently or just ejects out streams of lava ("Volcano"). There are different types of volcanoes. A volcano gets its name by the shape and the way it erupts. There are Central volcanoes and Fissure volcanoes. There are different types of Central Volcanoes, including the following, Cinder Cones, Composite, Domes, and Shields. A Central volcano forms when lava comes out of a larger cantal even. When the lava cools it forms a cone of volcanic rock around the vent. A Fissure volcano forms when lava comes out of large openings. The openings can be miles long, they are so long, lava oozes out and spreads over the whole area. Once a volcano erupts they are known as extinct volcanoes because scientists believe once a ... The evidence I have outlined above points to the theory that English 191 is a communications class because of the units we study, the course description, the course outcomes, and what certain types of texts we study. English 191 is a course that engages us to become critical thinkers and actively participate with our peers. This class is a precursor to English classes. The syllabus indicates that we will spend most of our time dealing with "how we think and what we know". This lays the groundwork for critical thinking. We use how we think and what we know to make judgements, which is critical thinking. This statement alone proves that this class deals a lot with critical thinking. The syllabus goes on even further to say: "Our focus will be on critical thinking and challenging our assumptions." English is the study of language. From my viewpoint, we must be open–minded critical thinkers in order to study English. I prefer to think of this class as a precursor to all English classes, and even arguably, all college–level courses. Secondly, this class encourages engagement between our fellow students. • 62. Is Smaller Class Size Better Than Large Classes? During your senior year in high school, many are confronted with multiple post–secondary options. Months are spent diligently going over the pros and cons of each institution. While choosing the perfect college, one significant argument is whether to go to a public or private institution. There are many topics to debate within this argument itself, such as, cost, degree options, and class size. This last one (class size) is a leading argument about whether smaller class sizes are better than larger class sizes. Attending St. Cloud State University this fall and spring semester has led me to ponder the benefits and the drawbacks of an education provided by this university. My purpose in writing is to argue that the larger class sizes at St. Cloud State University are worse than the smaller classes because of professor feedback, teaching assistants, and limited contact with our peers. Although it was not in America, Pac–man had its first release on the date May 22nd, 1980 (Pacxon par. 3). When Pac–man was first being made, it was actually named Puck–man (Pacxon par. 4). After its original release date in 1980, Pac–man came to America in 1981 (Pacxon par. 5). Furthermore, after its initial American release date, Americans spent over one (1) billion dollars on Pac–man on game sales (Feinstein 16). In comparison to another very popular game called Space Invaders, Pac–man surpassed the popularity and sales of the game after it was released. As previously stated, Puck–man was its original name and then was changed to Pac–man for a better name (Pacxon par. 7). In addition to Pac–man being such a popular hit, people who played the game wanted to learn how to properly beat the game. This resulted in guide books on how to play Pac–man, which were released by several different authors with the tips ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has become an increasingly prominent issue that I fear is being affected by humans. Red Tide has become a quiet phenomenon that many people fear will overrun the marine life surrounding our coast. If this problem isn't addressed soon, it could cost the environment, as well as our economy, a devastating toll. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Groups such as Florida Fish and Wildlife Association and Mote Marine Laboratory, believe that Red Tide is completely out of our hands and is not affected by any human behavior. They claim that there are only natural explanations to Red Tide. The websites for these associations contain information stating that outbreaks of Red Tide are not linked to any human activities occurring on land (Ji 1). In a study written by Patrick Barry and partially funded by NASA, the author theorizes that dust clouds from Africa form the basis for Red Tide, "like a story from the Old Testament" (1). He cites measurements taken from satellites and on the ground to claim that these clouds are carried on the wind from Africa's Saharan Deserts to the Gulf of Mexico (2), where the iron in the dust is used by plant–like bacteria called Trichodesmium. These bacteria put nitrogen in the water, which provides nutrients for some bacteria (6). This process, according to the study, causes the cycle that creates Red ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This causes complications, I can drive but parking is then the problem. If I park on campus, it is expensive; a parking pass goes for a hundred to two hundred dollars. If I park on the road I have to take care not to park in an illegal zone, which is not easy due to the interestingly worded signs designating the zones, and I can even ended up parking an awfully far distance from the Saint Cloud State University campus. Originally, I did drive to campus. After two weeks of being stuck behind mail–people making deliveries in narrow streets, watching out for the teeming pedestrians, and trying to not get hit, it was an easy decision to try ... My vocabulary is not as extensive as others; I think it's simply that I am willing to speak. Regardless, I was chosen to get us a ride so when a bus pulled up, I stepped in the door and asked if the bus would be going to Costa Verde? Yes. How long would it take? Less then ten minutes. How much was the fare? 130 Colones. I ushered everyone on and made sure everyone paid the right amount, and we were off. I very quickly realized, upon seeing the restaurant a few blocks from Costa Verde whiz by that I didn't know how to stop this bus, I saw no string or button, there was no sign. I was a bit panicked, everyone else panicked and was not being very helpful so I turned to the Abuela sitting in the seats behind me and asked how I stopped the bus. She smiled and leaned into the aisle, telling some folk sitting farther down to push the button. For some reason the bus had two buttons that were quite far apart and not all that acessible. Given this previous experience I was a little concerned about riding buses in general. An untimed, unregulated service was fine in Costa Rica when I didn't have strict times to meet but in Minnesota I needed it to be regular and dependable. It didn't help that when I mentioned my plan to anyone they'd make a face or tell me to be careful. If you're ever nervous about your plans and everyone tells you to be "careful", it just makes you positively ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 78. My Dream Of Becoming An Information Security Essay As a child, I grew up enjoying mathematics and science; this led to my dream of becoming an Information Security Analyst by majoring in Computer Engineering in college. I chose this profession because over the past couple of years, the world has become more dependent on technology, which means that there is more technology that needs to be developed and better network security will need to be implanted to meet the progressing world's standards. By being in this profession, there will always be job opportunities in small and large companies because networks, computers, cell phones and many other gadgets are prone to being compromised. For example, Boeing is a prestigious, global company that is one of the leading manufacturers of cyber security that offers several internship and job opportunities to undergraduates and graduates. Future graduates will be able to learn reliable information on what they need to become an information security analyst because an intensive amount of time was taken to research and find credible sources. Prior to graduating, future analysts will need to have knowledge of the profession and how they will be able to become an information security analyst. Graduates should expect to "plan and carry out security measures to protect an organization's computer networks and systems" in this profession(United). Analysts also have duties such as monitoring the organization's networks for security breaches, conduct investigations when breaches occur, install ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
