Weeping sounds from babies are the first thing I heard when I stepped foot into my volunteering
site. The weeping sounded as if the babies were hopeless, lonely, and in pain. Everybody around
seemed so busy or just didn't want be bother with a crying baby. I couldn't just stand there and let
the baby cry. I had to do something. But what?
It was the summer of 2013; I decided to use this summer to volunteer at Kings County Hospital,
instead of being in my house and just watch TV, eat, and sleep all day. It was the best thing I could
say I have ever done. When I got registered at Kings County Hospital, I got placed into the
OBGYN/Pediatrics department. I was excited to be lending a helping hand to kids who in need of

Once I became a mother my own free will has been compromised. I no longer get to do whatever I
want to do. Before I had my daughter I was able to do whatever I wanted without having to worry
about anything or anyone but myself. I got eat whatever I wanted, drink whatever I wanted, and

With me having a baby on the way, I honestly didn't think I would start college anytime soon. It was
just way out of conclusion. When my cousins started talking about it, it just had me thinking real

On 10 October 2006 on a military base in California I had the most unexpected surprise of my life.
That day I was told by my doctor that I was pregnant. This was a complete shock to me since I was

I am writing this paper to persuade and inform you about why abortion should be illegal. Many
people struggle when dealing with this topic because of women's rights and because a baby's life is

Bronx Masquerade In the realistic novel Bronx Masquerade by Nikki Grimes students in Mr. Ward's

War II.

from the procedure. Later in life, if the mother would want to have children, she may not be able to
because of the damage done by the abortion procedure.) There are many other risks, but these are
the top two. 4(Abortion began back in the first 100 years of our country where women would take
drugs to terminate the pregnancy. It was not until the 1930's that laws were created and strictly
enforced. But, in the 1970's was abortion was legalized.
Views of abortion have changed. From the 1700's to the late 1800's abortion was viewed as the last
resort for a woman that had gotten herself pregnant and wasn't married or didn't get pregnant with
her husband. If this was to happen, and word got out, the mother would be shunned for getting
pregnant and cursed at for terminating a pregnancy.

A time when I provided excellent patient care would be when I had my clinical rotation in the
special care nursery. I was assigned to a baby who was going through withdrawal. On this day

My parents are divorced and have been since the end of my 8th–grade year. I didn't take it well

I was thinking the worse with everything. Questions were popping up in my mind like the speed of
light. I was wondering, "What if I don't find any friends?", "What if I can't find a decent school to
go to?", but most importantly "What if it's not a good neighborhood to move into?" just "WHAT
IF"!
All the questions I was thinking and answers I was telling myself ended up true. No, I did not find
any friends in Kissimmee . No, I did not have any schools to go to because they would not accept
me due to the fact Dunbar did not give me all my credits and ok sure, our neighborhood is not that
bad. So, that's when Orlando came about. I moved there with my aunt to go to school since certain
schools would accept me. When I found out that Dunbar didn't give me any of my credits, I began to
get very discourage. I was a slow worker and I felt like I would not graduate in time. So many
thoughts were rushing across my mind and nobody was there to help lift me up until I met 4 friends
that were going through somewhat the same thing but dealing with different issues. We all became
close friends and they all end up graduating. But for me I didn't get

My Breastfeeding Journey
My journey in to lactation support began many years before the focus was actually on lactation and
breastfeeding. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be a teacher. I also was always obsessed with
babies and was always supportive and intrigued by breastfeeding mothers. I have vivid memories of
nursing my baby dolls as a child. It wasn't until I became a mother a mother myself that I realized
that my love for teaching and breastfeeding could go hand in hand.
After graduating high school I was very unsure of what I wanted to teach and found myself really
enjoying the health sciences. I changed my college major to nursing and then found a love for
childbirth. I decided to move towards the path of medical school to be an OBGYN. As I began ...
I am now currently breastfeeding my 3rd baby. I have been breastfeeding non– stop for the past 5
and a half years and tandem nursed my two youngest. I am working part time as a childbirth and
breastfeeding educator at a local rural health clinic, attending Union, and being a mommy to my
amazing breastfed babies!!! I truly love sharing information and helping women and their babies to
have the best opportunities and outcomes possible. This journey has been long and exhausting but it
is completely worth it and I am now starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know that
with everything I do, I am helping to make a difference in the world and that is important to me. I
know that I have given my own children the best start in life and if I can make a difference for other
people, I have truly
