• India is the fastest growing market in terms of business
for New York's celebrated French-Italian restaurant
group Le Cirque International, said the company's chief
executive officer Carlo Mantica. In India, the group has
a partnership with luxury hotel chain The Leela Palaces
Hotels & Resorts and operates its fine dine brand Le
Cirque at the hotel chain's properties in Delhi, Mumbai
and Bengaluru.“India is a great market to be in
because, like many other parts of the world, there is a
lot more interest in food, fine-dining and eating out,“
Mantica told ET during his recent visit to the group's
outpost at The Leela, Mumbai.

• The four-decade-old group, started by famed restaurateur
and ringmaster Sirio Maccioni, set up its first outpost in
India at The Leela Palace, New Delhi, in 2011. In addition to
its core French fine-dine brand Le Cirque (meaning The
Circus, in French), the company also owns restaurants like
Le Cirque Café, Italian casual dining chain Circo (the Italian
word for circus) and Sirio Ristorante in New York, Las Vegas,
the Dominican Republic, UAE and India.
• Mantica said the company is seeing 10% year-on-year
growth in its business from India and this is expected to
grow with the pro-tourism initiatives of the government.

and its image abroad.

• Every time I come to India, there are new infrastructure
developments such as airport or highways, which is good
for the hospitality industry as it helps in boosting tourist
inflow.“
• Le Cirque International Group may look at bringing its
casual dining brand `Circo' and resort restaurant format
`Beach Club by Le Cirque' to India. “ While Le Cirque is a
more formal restaurant, Circo is a lot more casual and it
could do well in India and fit most of the markets,“ Mantica
said adding the Beach Club by Le Cirque brand would fit the
Goa market well.The group currently operates 11
restaurants across the globe and has plans to add newer
outposts in Dubai, Bangkok and Dallas, Texas.

• Le Cirque International, which has enticed luminaries
from Paris Hilton to Bill Clinton over the years, is
planning to experiment with online deals to attract the
millennial taste buds in the country .
• “Deals, discounts in particular, is not a part of our
brand DNA.But it is something we would like to
experiment with. It doesn't change the economics of
our restaurant but we would like to try something new
which will help us attract more young generation to
come and try our brand,“ says Mantica. The company's
outpost in New York is already offering cut-rate meals
through discount sites such as Amazon and Groupon.
