3. INTRODUCTION
“The largest organ of the body” it constitute 15% of body weight. It weight about 2100
grams & have surface area 1.8 cm2 of a about.
 1 cm of skin content.
 10 hair follicles, 13 nerves.
 3-4 sebaceous gland.
 Few sweat gland.
 It will only that will regenerated.
 In every 24 hours the skin shed out 0.5 to 1 kg dead cell. In life time about 40 kg of
skin cell are shed out.

(a) EPIDERMIS
Outer most layer of skin.
Thickness very reginolly form palus thik to eyeids 0.05mm thin.

5. FUNCTION
 It Prevents water loss & act as a protection protection barrier.
 The skin plays an essential role In control Of body temperature .
 It consist of 5 diff. layers.
1. STRATUM CORNEUM
 It consist of stratified squamous epithelium.
 First outer layer of epidermis.
 It mainly consist of dead keratinocytes.

6. 2. STRATUM LUCIDUM
 It consist of transparent layer of dead cell.
3. STRATUM GRANULOSUM
 It consist of lamellar cell & tomo function. These are arranged in 1-3 rows.
 Keratohyaline is absent in hair & nails.
4. STRATUM SPINOSUM
 It also known as spine layer.

7. 5. BASAL LAYER
 Tzahe viable cells are present.
 It replace the dead cell.
(b) DERMIS
 It provide nutritional support to epidermis and it is 0.22-0.3 cm in thickness.
 It mainly consist of connective tissue.
 Inner surface of sweat gland and function gland.

8. (c) HYPODERMIS
 It is the deep & last layer of skin.
 It mainly consist of adipose tissue.
Sebaceous gland
It secrete sebum (face, ear) which manly consist glycerides & free fatty acid.
Sebum lubricats the skin source of stratum cardium plastisizing lipid & also maintain
acidic condition (pH5) on the skin outer surface.
