My classconsistsof seventeenstudents,all of whomare inthe firstgrade.There are tenboyand seven
girls.Seventypercentof the classiswhite,twentypercentisAfrican-American,andtenpercentis
Hispanic.Thisisalsoa special educationclass, withsevenof the studentshavingmildtosevere
attentiondeficithyperactivitydisorder.
State Objectives:
My studentswillknowthe monthsof yearandknow how to recite theminorder by the endof the
week.Withone hundredpercentdegree of accuracy,mystudentswill demonstrate knowledgeof the
monthsof the yearinorder.I will teachthemthe months of the yearusinga song,video,goingoverthe
monthsusingnotes, andhavingthemmake theirown calendarusingwhatusuallyhappensduringthose
months.
SelectMethods,Media,and Materials:
I wouldpickthe songand videotohelpthe studentswholearnbyseeingandhearing. Iwouldpickthe
songand the videothatwas the most appropriate forthemtolearnthe monthsof the yearin order.I
wouldalsogive themnotesonthe monthsandthe importantdatesineverymonthtomake it easierfor
themto rememberthe orderof the months.

2. I wouldpreview boththe songandvideotomake sure theywere appropriate toshow inschool.Iwould
make sure that my noteswere accurate and that I couldpull themupon the computerandhave a hard
copy justincase I couldnot.
Require learnerparticipation:
I wouldrequire the studentstomake theirowncalendarof the monthsof the year.Theywouldhave to
presenttheircalendarstothe entire class
Evaluate and revise:
I wouldevaluate mystudentsbyseeingif theycouldrecite the monthsof the yearinorderbythe end of
week.Icouldgive themmore time if a large majorityof themcouldnotdo this.One thingthat I could
revise aboutmyplanisspreadingitout as to notoverwhelmthe students
