UC Davis 2018 Colombia Fulbright TEFL Program
HABIT 2—BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND based on
THE SEVEN HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE by Stephen R. Covey
Name Olga Leonor Torres Sánchez_
A. How do I see myself in five to ten years?
Well, in fact I usually do this question to my students, now that I have to answer is
outstanding.
I have always wanted to write a book of a lovely story where readers want to read
several times, a story which mix realism and a little fantasy where hope will be the
central topic. As wellas, to create a didactic and dynamic English book or audio book,
where a person really enjoy and learn English joyfully, I would like to be in an English
Immersion in Europe where I can get new challenges as a person and professional, I
hope to meet and share many experiences where my students can get new points of
view to their own goals.
B. As a Colombian EFL teacher with only four weeks in this program, I would like to
learn/experience the following things:
English Goals:
1. Read more frequency different kind of articles, watch several videos, TV or radio
programs where I can improve my English skills every day.
2. Be aware of getting new strategies to learn and teach English, make my students feel
happy learning English in a dynamic learning environment where Me as a teacher and
my students enjoy each class.
3. Plan every class with a new point of view where students and teacher learn each other.
Professional Goals:
1. To become an exception English teacher.
2. Get new points of view what the essential and importance of teaching is. Be conscious of
our role as teachers and the impact that every word, gesture or support will have in my
students and their lives.
3. Get an English immersion in all my classes through different interesting topics for my
students, where they can travel around the world living English in a real contest.
Personal Goals:
1. Live my carpendier, never forget smile even obstacles, be happy, thanks every day for
being alive and all blessings I have received.
2. Write my own book or English book, where students really enjoy learning English
2
3. Travel around the world, visit as many countries as I can, learn about their culture,
history, tourist places, gastronomy, music, flora, fauna, literature.
B. Now that I have defined my end in my personal life and this program, there are some
things that I can do to help me reach/attain my end. These things should be observable
behaviors/ actions. They are:
Get an American cultural English immersion with my students, involve values and goals
in my classes more frequency, be positive and encourage my students to become positive
leaders, to encourage my students that their dreams come true.
C. After sharing my ideas with my fellow teachers, I would like to add the following:
Work as a team is much better, every one learn from others, if we join many learning and
teaching strategies all our students will be the real winners, never give up in our passion of
being teachers, to be updated and enjoy every second of our lives.
