Brief: December Update for Participants

2. DECEMBER SUMMARY
This OECS CXC-Notesmaster program is aimed at supporting Ministries of Education across the OECS,
in building on their existing ICT capacities and generating new digital resources to better serve their
stakeholders. A collaborative approach has been developed to build a community of practice involving
local Ministries of Education, teachers, CXC-Notesmaster and the OECS EDMU.
Great progress has been made in defining the programs for Montserrat, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the
Grenadines and St. Kitts Nevis.

Antigua and Barbuda
The 8 teachers creating digital resources for CSEC® Agricultural science held a bootcamp in
November to push towards their first content milestone. 30 resources were created during the day
long session with a follow-up session proposed in January or February under guidance of team leader
Mr. Craig Cole.
Next Step - 2nd Boot-Camp in January/ February and content milestone review
Montserrat
Mr Glenn Francis, Director of Education, Ministry of Education, convened a meeting that included
Primary school invitees. Following the meting the decision was taken to participate in the program
with a focus on the 4 CPEA subjects; Mathematical, Language, Civic and Scientific. The curricula have
been provided to Notesmaster and are now being uploaded to the platform.

3. Next step - Configuration of the CXC-Notesmaster platform with CPEA. Establish support network.
Orientation and training of the participants.
St.Kitts and Nevis
A presentation was convened by Mr. Solomon Claxton, National Examinations Registrar, with the
Education Officers. Following the November presentation the decision has been taken to participate
in developing resources for Building & Furniture Technology.
Next step - Establish support network. Orientation and training of the participants.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Following a two day workshop earlier this year, CSEC® Visual Arts was selected as the subject for
participation. Mrs. Dyer, Senior Education Officer, Curriculum Development Unit, has convened a team
of participants with orientation set to begin in January.
Next step - Orientation and training of the participants.
St. Lucia
Following an introductory presentation to PS. Ms. Brathwaite, convened by Mr. Germaine Anthony,
Curriculum Specialist - Technology Integration, Modern Languages were selected as the focal
subjects. A follow-up meeting with Mr. Leonard Robinson, Curriculum Officer for Modern Languages,
was convened and the program is set to begin in February 2017.
Next steps - For community reference, the next steps laid out by Mr. Anthony are shared below:
Tentative Plan of Action
1. Leonard will get himself more familiar with the CXC Notesmaster platform (December 12, 2016)
2. Leonard will mobilise groups of subject matter experts among his French and Spanish teachers
(January 15, 2017)
3. Dean will set dates for two webinars in the second half of January, 2017 (January 17, 2017)
4. Germain help plan logistics for a series of training workshops in February and March (January 20,
2017)
5. Dean will provide technical support for teachers, setting up groups, etc (January 25, 2017)
6. Leonard will set timelines and benchmarks for content development activities and peer reviews
(January 30, 2017)

A meeting will be scheduled in January 2017, for all focal points to shared idea, communicate
challenges and reference the programs underway in the other States. Representatives from those
States not yet participating will be invited to join the meeting.

CXC® Digital Content Activity- Participants in November and December's CXC® Digital Content
Activity, led by Ms. Jodine Williams, Assistant Registrar - Syllabus and Curriculum Development
Division, have thus far authored 1743 digital resources, across subjects at CSEC®, CAPE®, CCSLC®
and CVQ® levels. These will be available to all in the Notesmaster® community from January 2017.
