The Natural Forests Of Palawan
1. The natural forests of Palawan
are home to countless species
not found anywhere else
in the country.

19 species of mammals plant species
plant species
and 24 species of reptiles
TREE-PLANTING WILL NOT BRING THEM BACK.
Especially when you do it 33 years after you cut the forest down.
Reforestation is not the same as protecting biodiversity. The Save Palawan Movement advocates No to Mining in Palawan and other key biodiversity areas in the
Philippines precisely because once you bulldoze a forest to make way for mining, you kill off all the flora and fauna in it. These are species that have taken millions of
years to evolve, many of which are already threatened by now. And when a mining company brags about reforesting an area 33 years after they bulldozed it, you have
to wonder whether they’re just trying to shore up their image in preparation for expansion to other natural forest areas.
Are we going to be short-sighted enough to allow this?
