2. WHAT IS GLOBAL WARMING?
A gradual increase in the overall temperature
of the earth's atmosphere generally attributed
to the greenhouse effect caused by increased
levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other
pollutants.
3. CARBON DIOXIDE
Carbon Dioxide:The extra carbon dioxide
increases the greenhouse effect. More heat is
trapped by the atmosphere, causing the planet
to become warmer than it would be naturally
4. METHANE
The main impact of methane is on a
global scale, as a greenhouse gas.
Although levels of methane in the
environment are relatively low, its high
"global warming potential" (21 times
that of carbon dioxide) ranks it
amongst the worst of the greenhouse
gases.
5. NITROUS DIOXIDE
Nitrous oxide does not have a local
environmental impact. On a global scale
however it does contribute to global
warming and is the third most important
greenhouse gas in the UK. Although
relatively small amounts are released, it has
a high "global warming potential" (310
times that of carbon dioxide). Nitrous oxide
also damages the ozone layer, thus
reducing the protection offered from
6. FINISHING GLOBAL WARMING
1. Speak up!
2. Power your home with renewable energy.
3. Weatherize
4. Invest in energy-efficient appliances.
5. Reduce water waste.
6. Actually eat the food you buy
7. Do not burn plastics
8. Stop using plastics
9. Drive a fuel-efficient vehicle.
7. STEPS TAKEN BY GOVERNMENTS,
LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY
Pakistan
Khyber Pakhtun Khwah has
planted more than 150,000 trees
in northern areas and
government wants to educate
youth of Pakistan about stopping
global warming.
Sri Lanka
An agreement was signed by
countries known as Paris
agreement against global
warming.
Sri Lankan government is
developing 200 villages without
any pollution elements in them.
They are planting more tree and
will drive fuel efficient vehicles.
