Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla were two of the inventing world's greatest minds in the 19th
century. Their war over energy unleashed a new era upon the world, and changed the course of the
19th century. Tesla rivaled Edison with his new, but dangerous alternating current battle, but
Edison's refusal of change made the challenge difficult for Tesla. However, the two started their
relationship as partners. Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla both revolutionized the world. In 1884,

popularity, Edison was able to commit a multitude of demonstrations to reveal the dangers of Tesla's
alternating current system. One of his more cruel methods was to electrocute animals in public using

Many think Tesla and Edison were enemies, but that is actually false. On one occasion, Edison
slipped into a conference Tesla was holding. He had attempted to hide, but Tesla saw him, pointed
him out, and convinced the crowd to a standing ovation. Also, they eventually gained a mutual
respect towards each other, after Tesla left to work on his own. When Tesla's lab burned down,

After Tesla graduated, he began working for a telephone company in Budapest as an electrical
engineer. Tesla pictured the concept of the induction motor in his mind. In 1883, he built a prototype

experiments have pushed technologies past the limits we believed we had in both electricity and

become the basis of today's power grid in many places (Eggert). It powers homes, places of work,
lights and just about anything you can plug in the wall. The reason it's still prefered today is that it's
still much less costly and can be transported further with less energy loss than DC (What). Without
