Student Observation
Mrs. Oberlander and Ms. Orzechowski were interviewed regarding their concerns for Luis. They
shared that he is currently functioning at a Kindergarten/first grade level. Luis is currently using
LEXIA for reading approximately 20 minutes a day. The team would like resources to work on sight
words, phonics, and reading comprehension. The team would like resources to keep Luis motivated.
During break time he chooses between CoolMathGames, StarFall, and Razzkids. Luis is pushed into
his regular education classroom during specials, lunch, and during dismissal. The team also shared
that he is currently using Handwriting Without Tears and FUNdations. Mrs. Oberlander would also

Luis was initially working on counting money. When Luis had difficulty remembering the answer he
stated verbally, he was provided with choice options by Mrs. Oberlander.
After counting money, Luis was provided with a choice to complete a coloring page or to practice
telling time. Luis chose telling time. Mrs. Oberlander explained that after he completed the four
worksheets, he could have a 5 minute break on the computer with the Cool Math icon. Luis worked
diligently on the worksheets and notified the staff when he completed each worksheet. Mrs.
Oberlander checked Luis' work in progress and provided positive reinforcement for the work he
completed. While Luis was working, Mrs. Oberlander praised Luis for improving his behavior.
After completing telling time worksheets, Luis transitioned to a sight word activity where he colored
in the shapes with the identified word. Mrs. Oberlander discussed with Luis that if his good behavior
continued through tomorrow, he would be rewarded with an ice cream for Fun Friday. When Luis
asked to use the restroom, Mrs. Oberlander asked him to finish the task first and then he could use
the restroom. Luis came back and began the worksheet. Once again, Mrs. Oberlander reviewed her
expectations with Luis. Luis continued to have prompting and Mrs. Oberlander explained that he
only had two worksheets before break. Mrs. Oberlander reviewed Luis' visual schedule and what he
will be doing up until

Observation Of Student Athletes
During my observations only two students waited to present their I.D.'s to the employee who at the
time was busy with another task, compared to the seventeen students who briskly walked past the
employee while they were busy (It is important to note here that I am not counting students who I
perceive to be athletes in this count. I will discuss student athletes in more depth later on). Through
these observations and my small talk with various students around campus, I came to the conclusion
that most students don't see the necessity of presenting their I.D.'s and find the new event to be
troublesome and annoying.
I asked two different employee's why students had to show their I.D.'s and received generally the
same answer. Both first started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My initial thoughts were that it can't be expected of student athletes who are returning from or going
to a workout/practice to carry around their I.D. at all times. After all, I would not want to carry a
card while running that if I lost, I would not be able to get into my dorm room, able to get food, and
have to pay the 50$ fee to replace my lost I.D. So, my first hypothesis was that depending on what
the student was wearing and their posture dictated whether or not they were expected to show their
I.D.'s or not. If the student was in running attire they would not have anywhere to put their I.D. and
therefore be able to enter the KLARC without it. This hypothesis was further backed up by my own
experience when entering the KLARC. When I was going to noon meetings for football I was
wearing jeans that had pockets as well as a backpack, both places I would be able to keep my I.D.
When entering the employee looked at me with the expectation that I would show my I.D. However,
when I entered on a different day before practice wearing athletic shorts and my knee braces, the
employee looked at me and immediately waved me by, without me showing him my I.D. After all,
there was no place for me to securely keep my I.D. on

Observation Of Student Motivation
The teacher began the lesson by showing students a place value chart. The teacher also checked for
fluency by asking the students double fact addition sentences and had them write on their individual
white board. The teacher had the students use a place value chart to count $124 with in their groups.
b. What was the motivational question or questions, if you can't identify one or any – state that?
Why do we call this a place value chart?
How much do you have?
If you have 10–dollar bills, what can you do?
How did you organize your money?
c. What teaching strategies were used to maintain student motivation throughout the lesson?
The first strategy I saw the teacher use was activating student's prior knowledge. The teacher asked
the students several questions that made students think throughout the lesson. The teacher had the
students engaged by using a dry erase board and a marker. The teacher also used manipulatives such
as fake money and a place value chart to have students count money. Last but not least the teacher
planned for group work.
d. What student behavior gave you the impression that students were indeed motivated to learn?
The students were actively engaged. They seemed excited to be able to participate by using their
boards. Some students found it almost like a competition when the teacher was checking for fluency.
I noticed that students that usually don't like to participate put their hands up. The students seemed
excited when

Student Behavior Observation Paper
Collecting data concerning student behavior is important because data drives decisions and creates
the best pathway to successfully increasing desired behavior and decreasing undesirable behavior.
Before fully informed decisions can be made, data need to be collected, analyzed, and used to form
and implement changes (Kaplan, 1995, pp. 225– 226). A 6th grade male student (T.P.) was used as a
sample in using the Compliance Probe data collection and Behavior Observation Chart (Rhode,
2015, p. 216). The observations took place the week after students returned from Christmas Break.
First, for the simple commands in the Compliance Probe sample, this student performed well. The
tasks were things such as asking the child to take something to another teacher, to the office, or other
errand. In those types of commands, the student performed 100% of the tasks. This is ... Show more

In the overall Compliance Probe, based on readings from (Rhode, 1995), the student observed,
followed directions 75% of the time. The student was actually adept at following directions.
However, the behavior chart illustrated a more accurate picture of the classroom disruptions
normally observed with this student. T.P. has more disruptive off–task type behaviors such as talking
out, arguing and fighting with peers, breaking items that belong to others, and stealing. 6th grade
students would benefit from the use of the behavior chart because behavior can be observed as time
off task, which directly relates to the undesired behavior mentioned above. If the student is on–task,
he is not talking out, arguing, or causing other mayhem. The behavior observation chart is also able
to offer insight into the behavior compared to other students in the same class. In this case, T. P. was
on–task 45% of the time while his peer was on–task 90% of the

Naturalistic Observation Of Student 's A Coffee Line
Naturalistic Observation of Student's in a Coffee Line In the United States, 85% of adults own a cell
phone, with 18 to 24 year olds texting the most (Zickuhr, 2011). Of these adults, 67% reported that
they check their phone even if they do not hear it ringing, 44% sleep with the phone beside their
bed, and 29% reported they could not live without their cell phone (Smith, 2012). In addition,
according to the Baylor University report, studies show that young adults check their phone an
average of 60 times a day. This study examined cell phone use among university students that were
alone and in a group. Specifically, we were interested in observing whether students alone in a
coffee line or students in a group in a coffee line, spent more or less time on their cell phone. We
were also interested to observe if gender affected cell phone usage and whether males or females
were more likely to be in a group. The purpose of this study was to determine if university students
that are alone spend more or less time on their phone than students that are in a group. We also
examined if gender was an important factor on whether a student was in a group or alone. Using
naturalistic observation, we calculated the amount of time individual students were on their phone
per three minute time interval. The hypothesis was that students alone in a coffee line would spend
the most time on their phone. We also predicted that women were more likely than men to be in a
group.

How might better utilizing our school level counselors and the eEWS Data System, positively
influence the improvement of student academics, behavior and attendance at JCHS? The most
effective schools will provide opportunities for all struggling students within their school to achieve
success. Many students are often left to fall through the cracks. Progress monitoring can be done
using a variety of methods. A number of progress monitoring measures have been reviewed by the
National Center on Response to Intervention and the National Center for Student Progress
Monitoring and vary considerably in reliability, validity, and other key progress monitoring
standards (Hughes, C., & Dexter, D., 2011). In most schools, the student athletes are ... Show more

It may be a matter of time management, study skills, possibly allowing the student extra time on an
assignment, changing the seating within the classroom to even checking the students hearing and
eyesight. This information cannot be effectively implemented if the teacher and counselor does not
take the time to get to know the student and what the needs are currently. The social style of the
teacher as well as the student plays an extremely important role in the success of all students. Taking
time to get to know a student will allow the teacher and counselor the opportunity to make
suggestions that will allow the student the opportunity to perform at a level of acceptance possible
leading to success. Students really do not care how much you know until they know how much you
care. The success of most students depends upon the relationship that the teacher and counselor has
developed with their students. All students and staff must be included in the planning, implementing
and sustaining phases for continued success to be visible. It is meant for all children and helps
educators pay careful attention to the overall quality of learning experiences by including steps to

Observation Of Students At A Seventh Grade Math Classroom
Observation of Student While observing the students in my classroom, I focused on how engaging
and motivated they were. The eighth graders at Pine Forest did not have a good seventh grade math
teacher, so the students are very behind. They know that they are behind because Mrs. McLamb tells
them all the time. Instead of it discouraging them, it motivated the students to want to learn. They
know that they must catch up, so I saw the students trying their best to stay focused and be engaged.
I noticed while observing that a majority of the class was engaged. I honestly was not expecting this
in a math class at 7:30 in the morning. The first day I got there, one student said they had the best
math scores in the entire county. So, Mrs. McLamb pulled the up the previous test scores and
showed them they were third. I could tell the kids did not want to be third and wanted to be first.
They found a reason to learn, and I think that is very important. I did notice that students were not
taking notes. I found this odd because it was obvious that they wanted to learn but they never took
any notes. One of my days of observing, I got to observe a seventh–grade math classroom. I was
curious to see what the seventh grades are learning to ensure that they are not behind like the current
eighth graders. The teacher was making sure the students learned what they need to know to be
ready for eighth grade. The class I observed was a group of AIG students. Like the eighth–grade
students,

College Student Observation Paper
Observing college students in a natural, casual setting is quite interesting. A person can learn
fascinating details about how young adults interact by sitting back and watching them from a
distance without having any actual interaction. People and their mannerisms vary depending on the
environment they surround themselves with. By the use of observation, an individual cannot only
learn about his or her surroundings/peers, but also, the culture. Social anthropology is defined as the
study of a group of humans in a particular society and their interactions. I used this particular type of
anthropology while performing my own observation on the University of Southern Mississippi's
campus.
Deciding on which location on the university's campus was challenging for me. I found myself
asking, "Where would I get the best representation of how a college student spends his or her time
when not in the classroom?" Speaking from a college student's perspective, food locations on
campus or the library is where I, personally, spend my time. After analyzing the various food
locations we have here on campus, my final decision was Seymour's. Seymour's is the prime setting
to perform observations from my own point of view. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Essay On Student Observation
Over the past month, I have been observing in biology class in Lebanon High School. During my
time in this class I have observed a lot and have had a lot of great opportunities that have helped
open my eyes toward teaching, and the skills that are necessary to be successful in the field. While
there, I had the opportunity to work with a student with learning disabilities. During this interaction
I learned how to best work with those who have a learning disability and that it takes the ability to
think outside the box when trying to explain to the student what the task is so that they are able to
understand what they are being asked to do.
While observing the student with a learning disability, I observed a few interesting qualities that this
student had that stood out from the other students. One of the qualities that I observed was that he
was quiet. Unlike the rest of his class who would turn around and talk with the kids behind them, he
would just sit there and wait for further instructions. Another interesting observation that I made was
that my student would be interested in his work, but as time went on he began to lose interest in his
work and would need someone to remind him to stay on a task which was one of his
accommodations. I found that his ability to become unmotivated was more prevalent when he was
taking notes with the class off the Smart Board compared to when the class was in a group
discussion and the teacher was asking open ended questions.

Student Observation At Northwestern: Personal Narrative
Northwestern offers a cornucopia of opportunities for all those chosen to become a Wildcat. I
appreciate the fact that it's an institution that pushes students with a challenging curriculum. The
quarter system established at Northwestern is also something I'm drawn to. This is appealing to me
because it offers the chance to explore courses outside of my major while having the option to add
another major or minor to my degree. During my campus tour, there was a great discussion
regarding the importance of research on campus. I was very impressed with how the University
embraces and encourages its undergrad students to get involved with those projects. The thought of
being able to participate in a research project is intriguing to me.

Student Motivation Of Student Observation
For my off campus lesson observation I was fortunate enough to go visit one of my favorite teachers
from high school, Kirsten Galanter. She has been teaching at Evergreen High School for 7 years and
teachers family and consumer sciences classes. During high school I took one of her classes every
year and she was one of the reasons I decided to pursue a career in education. Through the two
classes I observed on Thursday November 30th, I was able to to see how she used different
strategies for each of her classes, and then how this effected the students engagement and classroom
environment. The very first class I was able to observe was Child Psychology Kids, which is a class
I took during my time in high school. In this class students who are upperclassmen learn about the
growth and development of kindergarten and first grade aged children and get to work one on one
with kindergarteners/first graders two times a week. During the time I observed I was actually able
to watch the high school students interact with their elementary school "buddies". What surprised
me the most about the high schoolers is how self–motivated they all were. Mrs. Galanter didn't have
to remind them of the class procedures or when to it was time to head over to the elementary school,
all of the high school students did everything on their own, and every transition was smooth. Even
when the high schoolers were working with their "buddies' they knew exactly what to do and what
was expected of them, and the time spent in the elementary school also went smoothly. These
smooth transitions and the students understanding of their expectations can only be contributed to
Mrs. Galanter and her ability to enforce these schedules and expectations with her students. When I
was a student of hers, I was fully aware of what she expected of me constantly and she held all of
her students to such high expectations. Every day the class schedule was consistent so every student
knew what to expect and how the class functioned. Her thought out planning of each days schedule,
and high expectations for her students have obviously led to a well run class of self–managers. The
next class I observed was Health, and it was the complete opposite of

Summer Student Observation
Introduction
During my time observing the Summer Scholars Program, I witnessed many topics that I have
studied from the book throughout class come to life. I saw the diversity of the students, and got to
involve myself in teacher–student interaction. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivators played a big part in
the lessons. The students were involved in discussions– small group and whole group. I also realized
how important teacher efficacy is and what a large role it plays in the rapport of the classroom.

I completed my field hours at the Summer Scholars Camp that was held at the Gainesville campus
of the University of North Georgia. The camp was comprised of about 50 or so upcoming tenth

The instructor played a song by Eminem, and a trailer from his movie. Afterwards, she explained the
lyrics of the song, and held a discussion about how the artist did not let his geography define his
destiny. I thought this was such a great idea. The students were then given an Ipad and asked to look
up a song that meant the most to them, and they would be able to play the song and share it with the
class. This directly exemplified motivation/incentive to me. It was motivation, in the sense that they
wanted to use the Ipad and look up music to show the class their favorite song. Intrinsic motivation
to be exact. The Journal of Education For Business defines intrinsic motivation as "an activity
whose initial impulse originates from self–motivation", (Rassuli, 2012, 86.) This was obviously
portrayed, because the students liked the activity they were participating in, so they voluntarily did it
without any prize or reward at the end. I also saw examples of extrinsic motivation during my time
there. A short quiz was done at the beginning of class based on the lesson from the previous day.
Each student was given a card that said true or false, and was asked to hold up his or her answer
when the question was asked. The game started off slow, it was the end of the day and the students
were just not cooperating. The teacher then said, "You will get a prize if you win, it's behind this
box." Just like that, the students started throwing their signs up and trying to beat each other for the
right answers. I learned that intrinsic and extrinsic motivations and incentives are directly seen in the
classroom, and most of it depends on the lesson and the circumstances it is being taught

Student Observation Paper
I am currently on our school–wide data team that uses data to find trends within our school
population. One trend that became readily apparent to our team this year was that our move–in
students were underperforming and that there were large gaps in their data due to the late entry into
our building. Therefore, I wanted to delve deeper into this idea of mobility and how it impacts test
results. I specifically wanted to look at this across the three middle schools in my district, Gahanna
Jefferson Public Schools, because the three districts differ in student populations. I was not surprised
by the results but rather reaffirmed in my thinking. I first wanted to see if certain schools would
have higher mobility rates than others so I did a comparison of three years to see the percentage of

Gahanna MS West has the highest amount of students on free and reduced lunch and is a Title I
building so the data shows that they also have the higher amount of students who are present for less
than one academic school year. Also, this showed me that there is clearly a trend in Gahanna toward
more mobility. Almost every year there was a steady increase in mobility.
I then wanted to compare these results to test scores for each building for the same three years to see
if more mobility correlated to higher or lower test scores. My prediction was that the higher mobility
rate a school had then the lower the average test scores for all tested subjects. Due to this, I averaged
all of the tests and found the results to be as follows:
Building 2014–15 2013–14 2012–13
Gahanna MS East 85.4% 90.5% 91.1%
Gahanna MS South 79.8% 88.8% 85.4%

Importance Of Student To Student Observation
When completing the student to student observation a pre–kindergarten classroom was observed.
There were fifteen students in the classroom with a teacher and an aide. The students were divided
into three groups of four and one group of three. The groups where cycling through an art center that
integrated math supervised by the aide, a literacy and history center supervised by the lead teacher
and a puzzle center. At the art center being observed, students were following picture directions to
count out the right number of materials to complete their turkey hats. Then they had to follow the
directions with the aide's help to assemble the hat. When observing the teacher student interactions,
it was interesting to see the personality of the four students come out. Student one seemed to be
quiet when interacting with the teacher. She seemed to not give more than one or two word answers,
normally yes or no. She didn't seem to want the teacher help or to interact with the aide. Student two
seemed to be the opposite of student one. While she stayed on topic, she gave elaborate and over
detailed answers to the aide. She seemed to want the aide to only pay attention to her and wanted
constant positive feedback from the aide. She seems to get upset when the aide starting helping the
other children and would try to direct the attention back to herself. It almost be a sense of learned
helplessness. Student three seemed to be a mix between student one and two. When the aide would

Evaluation Of A Systematic Observation Schedule
Assignment: The systematic observation schedule
A proper examination schedule was devised for the notion of examining the attention level of girls
and boys in the class. It should be noted that, this schedule also encompassed the extent and nature
of interactions between the students and the teachers. To be specific about the topic, it can be stated
that a seven year old student of primary school was captured in a video of 5 minutes. The results
showed that the boys were troublesome and unlikely to pay attention. It was suggested by a review
the aforementioned methodology to answer a research question is the best. It is being employed
since the 1930s for the notion of exploring and studying the interactions that occur between the
students and teachers. Moreover, it also aids in studying other behaviors in the classroom (Evertson
& Green, 1986). 1960s marked the dominance of this method in this research domain.
One of the definitions of systematic observation is, "a tool of research that encompasses the directly
observed behavior and records that behavior in accordance with the domains or categories that were
formulated before the data was being collected" (Bryman, 2008, p. 254). Basically, the notion of
systematic observation is to develop and propose give a brief description in concern with the
prevalent system of education (Croll, 1986). The observed data can be used for various purposes like
analyzing the behavior of teacher, explore the pattern of interaction between the

Preschool Student Observation
On April 4, 2017, I observed two preschool students playing with magnet tiles in Ms. Carrilo's Pre–
K class at Pre–K 4 SA North Education Center. The two students that I observed are the following:
Eda and Zander. Zander was a four year old little boy and Eda was a four year old little girl. Eda and
Zander were playing with the magnet tiles in the toy area because the block area was being used.
The materials that were available to Eda and Zander were trinkets (like buttons), toys (like mini
plastic figures), and magnet tiles. The activity that Eda and Zander were doing in the toy area was
the following: creating a "party" out of magnet tiles. First, Eda got out the magnet tiles and began to
make a big room out of the tiles. When I asked Eda about what she was doing, Eda said, "I am
making a party." I asked Eda if the room she was making was the party room, and she said yes. After
that, I asked Eda who was coming to the party. Eda said that everyone was coming to the party,
except for teachers because they were "sick." Then Zander came over and started to build with Eda.
Zander made a hospital and Eda made a few bathrooms for the party. When I asked Eda which
bathrooms were the girl's and the boy's, she said that the "red" and "purple" magnet tiles were the
girl's bathrooms and the "green" magnet tiles were the boy's. After I asked Eda that ... Show more

I also believe that the magnet tiles made Eda and Zander used a variety of different skills. First, the
magnet tiles made Eda and Zander use their language/social skills; it did this by making them

by making them identify and name different shapes. Then the activity made them use their
classification skills to match objects that are similar. And the list goes on and

Student Observation Paper
Our service learning project, was to conduct surveys for student athletes. The surveys were about the
athletes and their tie to the community. Our goal was to get at least 200 surveys completed. Besides
getting the surveys completed we also had to get their school Z numbers are proof. My group had
the Men's baseball team. We took more of an induvial approach since the team is in their off–season.
I also always kept my computer on me, just in case I ran into a baseball player while on campus. I
never found a baseball player on campus, I saw many volleyball, field hockey, and soccer players,
but never a baseball player. My other approach to get surveys was messaging the athletes on
Facebook. I looked up the roster on the Stockton Athletic

Trenton Student Observation
I like to joke around and say that I was made for this research lab. Not only am I from the
community we are interested in, I am also a former participant of the program we are assisting. This
course has become more than a grade to me, I see it as my chance to give back to the community
that provided me with countless opportunities. With the guidance of Dr. Chung, I have been
equipped with the skills needed to contribute to a program that is very near and dear to me. This
semester, Dr. Chung's REACH (Research on Engagement, Adjustment, and Community Health) lab
has partnered with the Bonner Center for Civic and Community Engagement to provide funding and

Reflection Paper On Observation Of A Student
Over the past month I have been observing in Lebanon High school in a biology class. During my
time in this class I have observed a lot and have had a lot of great opportunities that have helped
open my eyes toward teaching, and the skills that are necessary to be successful in the field. While
there I had the opportunity to work with a student with learning disabilities. During this interaction I
learned how to best work with those who have a learning disability and that it takes the ability to
think outside the box when trying to explain to the student what the task is so that they are able to
understand what they are being asked to do.
While observing the student with learning disabilities I observed a few interesting qualities that this
student had that stood out from the other students. One of the qualities that I observed was that he
was quiet. Unlike the rest of his class who would turn around and talk with the kids behind them, he
would just sit there and wait for further instructions. Another interesting observation that I made was
that my student would be interested in his work, but as time went on he began to loose interest in his
work and would need someone to remind him to stay on task which was one of his accommodations.
I found that his ability to become unmotivated was more prevalent when he was taking notes with
the class off the smart board compared to when the class was in a group discussion and the teacher
was asking open ended questions.

Student Observation Of Jane Doe
For my student observation, I am observing Jane Doe. Jane is in the 9th grade at Grafton high school
where she is a student in Mr. Minor's AP Human Geography class. She classifies as a female and
describes her ethnicity as Hispanic. Jane, unfortunately, has a significant hearing loss that makes it
harder for her to understand class directions and lectures. Although, her hearing is not completely
lost she still has trouble hearing when seated in certain areas of the classroom. Especially towards
the back of the classroom and the side opposite of Mr. Minor's desk. With her seating arrangement
in the back, this prevented her from following along with lectures and class discussions. In addition,
her interaction with classmates was nonexistent. However, after discussing the issue with Mr. Minor
changes were implemented. At the beginning of the school year Jane was positioned in the back part
of the classroom. Mr. Minor then proceeded to move her next to his desk allowing her better access
to him. Prior to Jane's move to her present seat, she experienced trouble hearing Mr. Minor. Thus,
making it harder for her to get on task. She also struggled to follow directions given by Mr. Minor
relying on classmates to relay the message. I noticed that she would increasingly become frustrated
when she was unable to keep up in class. Although her behavior was never unacceptable she
struggled ever so slightly. Since Jane moved from her previous position in the classroom I

The Importance Of Observation To Work With Students
Having worked with students who possess behavior concerns, I had a good foundation to transition
into Golden Oaks. Having started to work with my students, I have become aware of the different
knowledge and supports needed to best support my students which is something that is challenge.
Likewise, with every student having a very detailed and tailored behavior intervention plan, I need
to know each plan when interacting with the students to run them correctly. Taking on this
challenge, I have found myself continuously reviewing behavior plans and self–reflecting on my
interactions with students, especially when dealing with students in times of crisis. Another
challenge has been creating and developing my fundamental understanding of what instruction and
practice looks like in an autism/functional skills room. Having limited experience working within
those rooms, a challenge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While I previously thought much of my work was going to be mediating difference and situations
between students, I have found that this is also present when dealing with staff. Another was that as
an administrator I would not being having as much contact with students as before. Thankfully, this
assumption was not correct as I have had the ability to consistently work with students in a variety
of settings. Another observation is the importance of a positive school and home relationship.
Having known the importance as a teacher, I feel that it is now different as an administrator. Being
new, my first interactions were positive to begin the relationship which was needed for the not–so
positive interactions later to come. I feel like I need to continue to connect and build the positive
relationship with parents and I feel that my other administrators are helping keeping me accountable

Student Observation Essay
On November 6, there was a sub the for 7th period and most of the students sat in their assigned
seats. The sub explained her expectation and how respect is her one of her rules. She then continues
to explained the instruction for the two worksheet that the teacher left for the class. Within 15
minutes into class, I noticed that there many groups forming like a group of girls would be
grooming/putting on makeup, others would be talking, and the rest of the class would be doing the
worksheet. I then observed one student and the sub for twenty minute, and the student for the most
part was doing the worksheet and collaborating with his partner. The sub did walk around the class
several times to make sure that students were doing part of the worksheet. She would event ask the
student question over it, but mainly because she wanted to know what they were learning. I was able
to help out some students, but most student were off task. A student had an accordion, he would play
it until the sub told him to put it away. Most of the student finished the first sheet, but not the second
worksheet. Towards the end of class, she let the student with the accordion play it.
Then I observed the first 15 minutes of 8th period. The sub greeted the student at the door and
passed out the first worksheet. She then takes attendance and explained the worksheet and her
expectation before I had to leave.

Courtroom Observation for law Students
This paper contains an observation from a competition that was held by Liberty University. In the
courtroom Observation four law students argue the case of White vs. O'Malley's Tavern. The
original case (case number 82A04–8876–CB285) has gone before the United States District Court in
Northern Indiana. In the case Mrs. White is asking that O'Malley's Tavern be held liable for her
husband's death, while O'Malley's Tavern is stating that they should not be held liable for the
incident. This paper will discuss the argument for both sides, if summary judgment should be
allowed, and how courts are viewed in the Christian Worldview. In the case of White vs. O'Malley's

One's size, metabolism, and even how often they drink would all affect how many drinks would be
too many. It was believed that Mr. Hart had about 11 drinks. I am sure the bartender has seen people
become too drunk on less and even more drinks than that. I believe that O'Malley's Tavern should be
granted Summary judgment but to explain why one must first know what summary justice is. "The
court shall grant summary judgment if the movant shows that there is no genuine dispute as to any
material fact and the movant is entitled to judgment as a matter of law" (Cornell University of Law,
2012). I personally feel that the bar and bartender are not liable for what happened. In the above
definition of Summary judgment it says the court will grant it if the movant can show that there is
no genuine dispute. I think that no genuine dispute is show because even Mrs. White herself says
that the bartender did not see when Mr. Hart fell. Also Mr. Hart was served his last drink before the
bartender had even seen the second issue when he fell when trying to confront Mrs. White as she
was leaving. I believe if after that issue that Mr. Hart would have sat back down and the bartender
would have continued giving him drinks then there would have been a problem. However, it seems
that Mr. Hart left right after that to follow Mrs. White. I believe that Summary Judgment

Observation Of Student Entrepreneurs
I attended the panel of student entrepreneurs from Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute. We had the
privilege from hearing from five different students who have started their own business. We heard
from a girl who had come up with equipment so that people who were sick could check their vitals
at home, instead of having to go to the doctors. The patient would then plug the information into an
app on their phones and it would be set to their doctors and nurses. There was a girl who had created
a solar heating device that turns aluminum and other materials into hot air, which can be used to
help the homeless population, lower heating bills as well as help the environment. We heard from a
student who started a tech app and a mother student who had his own DJ business called Andries
Entertainments. There was also a student who started her own photograph business as well as a few
non–profit businesses. All of these students had great advice about how to start a company, how to
keep it going, how to enjoy what you are doing. All of these students had one thing in common
when it came to there business. They all found that there was a need for their product or service and
they had a and passion for it. Some of the students had interest in there products. They had grown up
loving photography and music and decided to try and turn their passion into a business. For others

Learning Styles And Techniques Of Teaching
During my class in Curriculum, Methods, and Assessments: Science and Math, I have had the
opportunity to observe two different mathematic teachers. Through those observations I have gained
great knowledge and understanding. I was exposed to different teaching, learning styles and
techniques. Being able to observe a few different classrooms has given me an opportunity to witness
different aspects of teaching. Through all of my observations during college of teachers I am
confident that teaching is what I want to do with the rest of my life. I will touch on a few topics
from my observation throughout my paper such as, the objective of the lesson, types of methods the
teachers used, differentiation instruction, ways the teachers assess learning in the classroom and
changes that I could make to the lesson.
For my observations at Metzger Middle School, I had the opportunity to observe Ms. Williams and
Ms. James sixth grade Mathematics classrooms. During Ms. Williams first period she had a Co–
Teacher to assist her students that were ESLs (1 student) and IEP/504 (5 students). A student that
was in a wheelchair was also amongst the students; accommodations were made for this student, for
example; the co–teacher had the student that was sitting in the first chair by the door move back a
desk so that the student could put his chair up the desk. Some of the methods that the teacher
provided were mathematical reference sheets and formula charts to help them when answering

1. Briefly describe the general theme you chose and two corresponding social scenes you observed:
a. Describe the locales: Where are they? What are their physical layouts? b. Where were you located
during the observations? c. When were you in the locations? (Date/time) d. Based on your own
background knowledge, what kinds of students typically inhabit and move through these spaces?
Older generations are often talking about how the younger generations are frequently on their
phones. Therefore, I thought it would be interesting to further investigate the hot topic on my own.
More specifically, I looked at the types of students who are constantly on their phone, if the
environment impacted the time spent on a device, and whether or not they were listening to music.
In order to complete these observations I traveled to the atrium and the lecture center. The first
location I observed was the atrium. Unsure of where to sit with regard to collecting the optimal data,
I sat in the food court. Near the pizza place, they set up tables where several students were enjoying
their dinner. I choose to sit in the corner table on November 30, 2015, around 5:00 in order to view
the whole room. There, upper–class students, who generally go to the atrium because they do not
have unlimited meal swipes at the dining hall, were consuming the best of what SUNY New Paltz
has to offer and socializing. On the other hand, the lecture center was a different atmosphere. There I

Social Work Child Observation Report
The Negotiation.
Introduction.
This work is aimed at describing the process of negotiating an agreement to carry out a child
observation in a school. It will explain my role as a social work student in the process of negotiating
observation agreement with the school. Some of the issues considered in my negotiation were
confidentiality, ethical issues and values, consent, communication, legal issues, professionalism,
skill, voluntary participation of participant, contingency plan and limitations. The name of the child
observed in this work will not be included for data protection and confidentiality reason. This is
supported by the (Data Protection Act, 1998, Healthcare Professionals Council, 2016, The British

They argued that the use of written agreement set out task, boundaries, limitations and any future
work. In addition, Person and Thomas (2010) argues that agreements promote trust, empathy, show
limitation, set out clear boundaries and promotes mutual responsibilities. Similarly, Healy (2012)
argues that social worker must be respectful, honest and transparent when working with a family.
The second stage of the negotiation was to take the draft copy of the agreement letter to show my
lecturer at the University for Approval. After the approval the agreement letter. The approved letter
of agreement was now signed by myself, preschool manager and the child's parent. This agreement
shows that the preschool and parent of the child has granted me their consent to observe this child.
The parents and their child were not coerced into participating in this observation to ensure
voluntary participation and the parents and the child were free to change their mind at any stage of
the observation.
Reflection of the process of negotiation.
Social workers need to develop a good observation skill for them to be able to do their work
effectively because communication is one of the key tool which social work use (BASW, 2014,
HCPC, 2016 and & Healy, 2012). Therefore, having good observation skills is relevant in social
work. Healy (2012) suggested that communication could be verbal and non–verbal methods of
communication. Social worker make use both verbal and non–verbal method of

Behavior Plan for Violence in a 1st Grade Class
Through the last two weeks I noticed some behavioral changes in my first grade class; to be more
specific I noticed increased rate of violence, increased rate of conflicts, increased rate of complains
from two students, increased rate of bulling and increased rate of crying and screaming.
So, I decided to schedule a set of observations for the whole class and other specific observations for
the 2 students from which I received most of the complains to go deeper in to details and know the
reason behind these symptoms to be able to solve the situation, as one of my roles is to maintain the
emotional health of the students and create an emotionally balanced environment to go through
learning process smoothly.
I noticed that most of these behaviors are during recess time or PE session so I decided to attend all
the recesses and the PE sessions to observe the two students. Mean while we will be observing the
whole class.
I have a relativity small class with almost balanced ratio of girls and boys as I have 9 students (5
girls and 4 boys) with narrow age range 6–7 years old .They are all Egyptians with no special needs
students in class.
As I mentioned before I will observe the students in both the recess and PE sessions. Both take place
in the play ground; it is divided into three areas: green area, shaded area and sand pit. Play ground
description as follows:
Green area: It is a trapezoid area surrounded by low height plastic fence from three sides and a

Student Observation In The Classroom
The observation hours completed for this education course were extremely beneficial to me.
Working in education as a substitute for the past ten years, I never had the option to go in depth with
all the planning one really does as a teacher. Previously, I assumed teachers jobs were one of the
easiest to come across, due to my friends all getting degrees in education, I thought it was a walk in
the park. Little did I know there is so much effort put into even the smallest of class activities?
However, that is if you are a good teacher. I am eager to say I was baffled by the styles in which the
two classes I observed altered. One of the teachers that I had was absolutely meticulous in the way
she ran her classroom. The second teacher I observed was polar opposite, where he had lessons
planned, everything else seemed to fall where it may throughout the day. Through both teachers I
gathered the different techniques they used to gather their data, how they tracked students'
accommodations' in the classroom. I was able to compare the classroom management during student
transitions from group work to individual work, as well as find strategies used in both classrooms to
keep students engaged throughout instruction, reading and group times. The first teacher I observed
was an English teacher at a middle school, who also teaches a majority of Special Education. She
has taught for over ten years and truly loves her job. You can see her enthusiasm when she meets the

Christian Student Observation Paper
As I entered the Starbucks, I surveyed the room in search of my older sister. Her black Nike
backpack stood out amongst the other colorful ones on the floor. Taking my place in the empty seat
beside my sister, all three women at the table greeted me with warm smiles. Their smiles seemed to
pacify my anxiety of meeting new people.A small white sign sat at the corner of the table reading "
Share a story for some candy!". Recognizing two out of the three women at the table I introduced
myself to the young lady beside me. As she continued the conversation, they began to find things
they could find in common. " Oh, you go to Colorado Community Church too? I love your Pastor!"
As the conversation came to an end, we all exchanged hugs and contact information.I walked with

Ferguson Student Center Observation
The purpose of the observation assignment is to conduct an observation of a site on the campus of a
college or university to document student interaction. I chose to conduct observations on the campus
of the University of Alabama (UA). The site used for the observation is the Ferguson Student
Center, also known as "the Ferg." According to the University of Alabama, the Ferguson Center is
the heart is the University of Alabama's campus. Being a native of Tuscaloosa, I knew the Ferguson
Center has always been a hot commodity & student attraction. Originally, I planned to conduct
observations on Saturday. There was not much interaction on campus. The Ferguson Center was
closed. I drove to three (3) different locations on UA's campus before I realized students were not on
campus.
I chose to conduct observations on Monday, July 3rd because the Ferguson Center was closed on the
weekend. Locating the Ferguson Center was difficult and confusing. Eventually, a University Police
Officer gave me directions. As one walks to the Ferguson Center, they will see an open space for
walking. In the walking area is a beautiful water foundation with patio tables and chairs surrounding
it. The scenery is very relaxing and few students were sitting and socializing. While standing in the
walking area, students will see the Ferguson center to the left and Student Support Services to the
right.

Reflection For Student Observation
September 29,2017: I was super nervous and excited today, this was the day that I had been long
wait for. Today I went to go ask if I could do my student observation hours at Vermont. When I went
I was confused because everyone in the office was telling me to go to different places and I was told
to go and return the next day. I was told that the Vice Principal had to assign me a classroom and
that she was not there today. October 3,2017: I went and met with the Vice Principal and she
assigned me a Kindergarten classroom. I was super nervous, I was finally able to be in a classroom!
I was exhausted even though I didn't help in the classroom. I felt overwhelmed, and I was
questioning myself if this was what I wanted to do. I talked to the teachers and let them know that I
was not in the credential program yet and that I was in my second year, and that if they were okay
with me observing their classroom and they told me I could. October 4,2017: I went to observer in
the Kindergarten classroom. The teacher let me finish reading the book she was reading to the
children. Seeing the kids' faces was the best, they were all so amazed and it helped remind why I
want to be a teacher. October 24,2017: Today was the first day I volunteered in the classrooms and it
was the best feeling. Today the teachers full introduced me to the students. Both teachers told their
students to call me Miss. Ballesteros. The students all said Miss. Ballesteros and I was on cloud
nine. It was the cutest

Student Observation

  • 1. Student Observation Mrs. Oberlander and Ms. Orzechowski were interviewed regarding their concerns for Luis. They shared that he is currently functioning at a Kindergarten/first grade level. Luis is currently using LEXIA for reading approximately 20 minutes a day. The team would like resources to work on sight words, phonics, and reading comprehension. The team would like resources to keep Luis motivated. During break time he chooses between CoolMathGames, StarFall, and Razzkids. Luis is pushed into his regular education classroom during specials, lunch, and during dismissal. The team also shared that he is currently using Handwriting Without Tears and FUNdations. Mrs. Oberlander would also like speech to text explored with Luis. Luis has a short attention ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Luis was initially working on counting money. When Luis had difficulty remembering the answer he stated verbally, he was provided with choice options by Mrs. Oberlander. After counting money, Luis was provided with a choice to complete a coloring page or to practice telling time. Luis chose telling time. Mrs. Oberlander explained that after he completed the four worksheets, he could have a 5 minute break on the computer with the Cool Math icon. Luis worked diligently on the worksheets and notified the staff when he completed each worksheet. Mrs. Oberlander checked Luis' work in progress and provided positive reinforcement for the work he completed. While Luis was working, Mrs. Oberlander praised Luis for improving his behavior. After completing telling time worksheets, Luis transitioned to a sight word activity where he colored in the shapes with the identified word. Mrs. Oberlander discussed with Luis that if his good behavior continued through tomorrow, he would be rewarded with an ice cream for Fun Friday. When Luis asked to use the restroom, Mrs. Oberlander asked him to finish the task first and then he could use the restroom. Luis came back and began the worksheet. Once again, Mrs. Oberlander reviewed her expectations with Luis. Luis continued to have prompting and Mrs. Oberlander explained that he only had two worksheets before break. • 3. Observation Of Student Athletes During my observations only two students waited to present their I.D.'s to the employee who at the time was busy with another task, compared to the seventeen students who briskly walked past the employee while they were busy (It is important to note here that I am not counting students who I perceive to be athletes in this count. I will discuss student athletes in more depth later on). Through these observations and my small talk with various students around campus, I came to the conclusion that most students don't see the necessity of presenting their I.D.'s and find the new event to be troublesome and annoying. I asked two different employee's why students had to show their I.D.'s and received generally the same answer. Both first started ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My initial thoughts were that it can't be expected of student athletes who are returning from or going to a workout/practice to carry around their I.D. at all times. After all, I would not want to carry a card while running that if I lost, I would not be able to get into my dorm room, able to get food, and have to pay the 50$ fee to replace my lost I.D. So, my first hypothesis was that depending on what the student was wearing and their posture dictated whether or not they were expected to show their I.D.'s or not. If the student was in running attire they would not have anywhere to put their I.D. and therefore be able to enter the KLARC without it. This hypothesis was further backed up by my own experience when entering the KLARC. When I was going to noon meetings for football I was wearing jeans that had pockets as well as a backpack, both places I would be able to keep my I.D. When entering the employee looked at me with the expectation that I would show my I.D. However, when I entered on a different day before practice wearing athletic shorts and my knee braces, the employee looked at me and immediately waved me by, without me showing him my I.D. After all, there was no place for me to securely keep my I.D. on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Observation Of Student Motivation The teacher began the lesson by showing students a place value chart. The teacher also checked for fluency by asking the students double fact addition sentences and had them write on their individual white board. The teacher asked the students several questions that made students think throughout the lesson. The teacher had the students engaged by using a dry erase board and a marker. The teacher also used manipulatives such as fake money and a place value chart to have students count money. Last but not least the teacher planned for group work. d. What student behavior gave you the impression that students were indeed motivated to learn? The students were actively engaged. They seemed excited to be able to participate by using their boards. Some students found it almost like a competition when the teacher was checking for fluency. I noticed that students that usually don't like to participate put their hands up. The students seemed excited when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Student Behavior Observation Paper Collecting data concerning student behavior is important because data drives decisions and creates the best pathway to successfully increasing desired behavior and decreasing undesirable behavior. Before fully informed decisions can be made, data need to be collected, analyzed, and used to form and implement changes (Kaplan, 1995, pp. 225– 226). A 6th grade male student (T.P.) was used as a sample in using the Compliance Probe data collection and Behavior Observation Chart (Rhode, 2015, p. 216). The observations took place the week after students returned from Christmas Break. First, for the simple commands in the Compliance Probe sample, this student performed well. The tasks were things such as asking the child to take something to another teacher, to the office, or other errand. In those types of commands, the student performed 100% of the tasks. This is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the overall Compliance Probe, based on readings from (Rhode, 1995), the student observed, followed directions 75% of the time. The student was actually adept at following directions. However, the behavior chart illustrated a more accurate picture of the classroom disruptions normally observed with this student. T.P. has more disruptive off–task type behaviors such as talking out, arguing and fighting with peers, breaking items that belong to others, and stealing. 6th grade students would benefit from the use of the behavior chart because behavior can be observed as time off task, which directly relates to the undesired behavior mentioned above. If the student is on–task, he is not talking out, arguing, or causing other mayhem. The behavior observation chart is also able to offer insight into the behavior compared to other students in the same class. In this case, T. P. was on–task 45% of the time while his peer was on–task 90% of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Naturalistic Observation Of Student 's A Coffee Line Naturalistic Observation of Student's in a Coffee Line In the United States, 85% of adults own a cell phone, with 18 to 24 year olds texting the most (Zickuhr, 2011). Of these adults, 67% reported that they check their phone even if they do not hear it ringing, 44% sleep with the phone beside their bed, and 29% reported they could not live without their cell phone (Smith, 2012). In addition, according to the Baylor University report, studies show that young adults check their phone an average of 60 times a day. This study examined cell phone use among university students that were alone and in a group. Specifically, we were interested in observing whether students alone in a coffee line or students in a group in a coffee line, spent more or less time on their cell phone. We were also interested to observe if gender affected cell phone usage and whether males or females were more likely to be in a group. The purpose of this study was to determine if university students that are alone spend more or less time on their phone than students that are in a group. We also examined if gender was an important factor on whether a student was in a group or alone. Using naturalistic observation, we calculated the amount of time individual students were on their phone per three minute time interval. The hypothesis was that students alone in a coffee line would spend the most time on their phone. We also predicted that women were more likely than men to be in a group. Method ... Student Observation Paper How might better utilizing our school level counselors and the eEWS Data System, positively influence the improvement of student academics, behavior and attendance at JCHS? The most effective schools will provide opportunities for all struggling students within their school to achieve success. Many students are often left to fall through the cracks. Progress monitoring can be done using a variety of methods. A number of progress monitoring measures have been reviewed by the National Center on Response to Intervention and the National Center for Student Progress Monitoring and vary considerably in reliability, validity, and other key progress monitoring standards (Hughes, C., & Dexter, D., 2011). In most schools, the student athletes are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It may be a matter of time management, study skills, possibly allowing the student extra time on an assignment, changing the seating within the classroom to even checking the students hearing and eyesight. This information cannot be effectively implemented if the teacher and counselor does not take the time to get to know the student and what the needs are currently. The social style of the teacher as well as the student plays an extremely important role in the success of all students. Taking time to get to know a student will allow the teacher and counselor the opportunity to make suggestions that will allow the student the opportunity to perform at a level of acceptance possible leading to success. Students really do not care how much you know until they know how much you care. The success of most students depends upon the relationship that the teacher and counselor has developed with their students. All students and staff must be included in the planning, implementing and sustaining phases for continued success to be visible. • 15. Observation Of Students At A Seventh Grade Math Classroom Observation of Student While observing the students in my classroom, I focused on how engaging and motivated they were. The eighth graders at Pine Forest did not have a good seventh grade math teacher, so the students are very behind. They know that they are behind because Mrs. McLamb tells them all the time. Instead of it discouraging them, it motivated the students to want to learn. They know that they must catch up, so I saw the students trying their best to stay focused and be engaged. I noticed while observing that a majority of the class was engaged. I honestly was not expecting this in a math class at 7:30 in the morning. The first day I got there, one student said they had the best math scores in the entire county. So, Mrs. McLamb pulled the up the previous test scores and showed them they were third. I could tell the kids did not want to be third and wanted to be first. They found a reason to learn, and I think that is very important. I did notice that students were not taking notes. I found this odd because it was obvious that they wanted to learn but they never took any notes. One of my days of observing, I got to observe a seventh–grade math classroom. I was curious to see what the seventh grades are learning to ensure that they are not behind like the current eighth graders. The teacher was making sure the students learned what they need to know to be ready for eighth grade. The class I observed was a group of AIG students. Like the eighth–grade students, ... • 17. College Student Observation Paper Observing college students in a natural, casual setting is quite interesting. A person can learn fascinating details about how young adults interact by sitting back and watching them from a distance without having any actual interaction. People and their mannerisms vary depending on the environment they surround themselves with. By the use of observation, an individual cannot only learn about his or her surroundings/peers, but also, the culture. Social anthropology is defined as the study of a group of humans in a particular society and their interactions. I used this particular type of anthropology while performing my own observation on the University of Southern Mississippi's campus. Deciding on which location on the university's campus was challenging for me. I found myself asking, "Where would I get the best representation of how a college student spends his or her time when not in the classroom?" Speaking from a college student's perspective, food locations on campus or the library is where I, personally, spend my time. After analyzing the various food locations we have here on campus, my final decision was Seymour's. Seymour's is the prime setting to perform observations from my own point of view. This ... • 19. Essay On Student Observation Over the past month, I have been observing in biology class in Lebanon High School. During my time in this class I have observed a lot and have had a lot of great opportunities that have helped open my eyes toward teaching, and the skills that are necessary to be successful in the field. While there, I had the opportunity to work with a student with learning disabilities. During this interaction I learned how to best work with those who have a learning disability and that it takes the ability to think outside the box when trying to explain to the student what the task is so that they are able to understand what they are being asked to do. While observing the student with a learning disability, I observed a few interesting qualities that this student had that stood out from the other students. One of the qualities that I observed was that he was quiet. Unlike the rest of his class who would turn around and talk with the kids behind them, he would just sit there and wait for further instructions. Another interesting observation that I made was that my student would be interested in his work, but as time went on he began to lose interest in his work and would need someone to remind him to stay on a task which was one of his accommodations. I found that his ability to become unmotivated was more prevalent when he was taking notes with the class off the Smart Board compared to when the class was in a group discussion and the teacher was asking open ended questions. I was able ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Student Observation At Northwestern: Personal Narrative Northwestern offers a cornucopia of opportunities for all those chosen to become a Wildcat. I appreciate the fact that it's an institution that pushes students with a challenging curriculum. The quarter system established at Northwestern is also something I'm drawn to. This is appealing to me because it offers the chance to explore courses outside of my major while having the option to add another major or minor to my degree. During my campus tour, there was a great discussion regarding the importance of research on campus. I was very impressed with how the University embraces and encourages its undergrad students to get involved with those projects. The thought of being able to participate in a research project is intriguing to me. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 23. Student Motivation Of Student Observation For my off campus lesson observation I was fortunate enough to go visit one of my favorite teachers from high school, Kirsten Galanter. She has been teaching at Evergreen High School for 7 years and teachers family and consumer sciences classes. During high school I took one of her classes every year and she was one of the reasons I decided to pursue a career in education. Through the two classes I observed on Thursday November 30th, I was able to to see how she used different strategies for each of her classes, and then how this effected the students engagement and classroom environment. The very first class I was able to observe was Child Psychology Kids, which is a class I took during my time in high school. In this class students who are upperclassmen learn about the growth and development of kindergarten and first grade aged children and get to work one on one with kindergarteners/first graders two times a week. During the time I observed I was actually able to watch the high school students interact with their elementary school "buddies". What surprised me the most about the high schoolers is how self–motivated they all were. Mrs. Galanter didn't have to remind them of the class procedures or when to it was time to head over to the elementary school, all of the high school students did everything on their own, and every transition was smooth. Even when the high schoolers were working with their "buddies' they knew exactly what to do and what was expected of them, and the time spent in the elementary school also went smoothly. These smooth transitions and the students understanding of their expectations can only be contributed to Mrs. Galanter and her ability to enforce these schedules and expectations with her students. When I was a student of hers, I was fully aware of what she expected of me constantly and she held all of her students to such high expectations. Every day the class schedule was consistent so every student knew what to expect and how the class functioned. Her thought out planning of each days schedule, and high expectations for her students have obviously led to a well run class of self–managers. The next class I observed was Health, and it was the complete opposite of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I saw the diversity of the students, and got to involve myself in teacher–student interaction. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivators played a big part in the lessons. The students were involved in discussions– small group and whole group. I also realized how important teacher efficacy is and what a large role it plays in the rapport of the classroom. Summer Scholars Program at UNG Gainesville I completed my field hours at the Summer Scholars Camp that was held at the Gainesville campus of the University of North Georgia. The camp was comprised of about 50 or so upcoming tenth grade students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The instructor played a song by Eminem, and a trailer from his movie. Afterwards, she explained the lyrics of the song, and held a discussion about how the artist did not let his geography define his destiny. I thought this was such a great idea. The students were then given an Ipad and asked to look up a song that meant the most to them, and they would be able to play the song and share it with the class. This directly exemplified motivation/incentive to me. It was motivation, in the sense that they wanted to use the Ipad and look up music to show the class their favorite song. Intrinsic motivation to be exact. The Journal of Education For Business defines intrinsic motivation as "an activity whose initial impulse originates from self–motivation", (Rassuli, 2012, 86.) This was obviously portrayed, because the students liked the activity they were participating in, so they voluntarily did it without any prize or reward at the end. I also saw examples of extrinsic motivation during my time there. A short quiz was done at the beginning of class based on the lesson from the previous day. Each student was given a card that said true or false, and was asked to hold up his or her answer when the question was asked. The game started off slow, it was the end of the day and the students were just not cooperating. The teacher then said, "You will get a prize if you win, it's behind this box." Just like that, the students started throwing their signs up and trying to beat each other for the right answers. I learned that intrinsic and extrinsic motivations and incentives are directly seen in the classroom, and most of it depends on the lesson and the circumstances it is being taught ... • 32. Student Observation Paper I am currently on our school–wide data team that uses data to find trends within our school population. One trend that became readily apparent to our team this year was that our move–in students were underperforming and that there were large gaps in their data due to the late entry into our building. Therefore, I wanted to delve deeper into this idea of mobility and how it impacts test results. I specifically wanted to look at this across the three middle schools in my district, Gahanna Jefferson Public Schools, because the three districts differ in student populations. I was not surprised by the results but rather reaffirmed in my thinking. I first wanted to see if certain schools would have higher mobility rates than others so I did a comparison of three years to see the percentage of students who were in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gahanna MS West has the highest amount of students on free and reduced lunch and is a Title I building so the data shows that they also have the higher amount of students who are present for less than one academic school year. Also, this showed me that there is clearly a trend in Gahanna toward more mobility. Almost every year there was a steady increase in mobility. I then wanted to compare these results to test scores for each building for the same three years to see if more mobility correlated to higher or lower test scores. My prediction was that the higher mobility rate a school had then the lower the average test scores for all tested subjects. Due to this, I averaged all of the tests and found the results to be as follows: Building 2014–15 2013–14 2012–13 Gahanna MS East 85.4% 90.5% 91.1% Gahanna MS South 79.8% 88.8% 85.4% Gahanna MS West 73.1% 84.2% ... I conducted an observation of the students in the Niche, those who walked in and those who were already there. Students tend to stay with people they feel comfortable with, have the same characteristic as them, do the same thing as them or some students prefer to be alone. In today society, technology is everywhere and everyone has it. I choose the niche because it's at this time that students come into the library to study, do homework or socialize. I notice some pattern and trends after the observation. During the observation, I notice that who you associate with is based on certain characteristics that you have in common. • 38. Importance Of Student To Student Observation When completing the student to student observation a pre–kindergarten classroom was observed. There were fifteen students in the classroom with a teacher and an aide. The students were divided into three groups of four and one group of three. The groups where cycling through an art center that integrated math supervised by the aide, a literacy and history center supervised by the lead teacher and a puzzle center. At the art center being observed, students were following picture directions to count out the right number of materials to complete their turkey hats. Then they had to follow the directions with the aide's help to assemble the hat. When observing the teacher student interactions, it was interesting to see the personality of the four students come out. Student one seemed to be quiet when interacting with the teacher. She seemed to not give more than one or two word answers, normally yes or no. She didn't seem to want the teacher help or to interact with the aide. Student two seemed to be the opposite of student one. While she stayed on topic, she gave elaborate and over detailed answers to the aide. She seemed to want the aide to only pay attention to her and wanted constant positive feedback from the aide. She seems to get upset when the aide starting helping the other children and would try to direct the attention back to herself. It almost be a sense of learned helplessness. • 42. Evaluation Of A Systematic Observation Schedule Assignment: The systematic observation schedule A proper examination schedule was devised for the notion of examining the attention level of girls and boys in the class. It should be noted that, this schedule also encompassed the extent and nature of interactions between the students and the teachers. To be specific about the topic, it can be stated that a seven year old student of primary school was captured in a video of 5 minutes. The results showed that the boys were troublesome and unlikely to pay attention. It was suggested by a review the aforementioned methodology to answer a research question is the best. It is being employed since the 1930s for the notion of exploring and studying the interactions that occur between the students and teachers. Moreover, it also aids in studying other behaviors in the classroom (Evertson & Green, 1986). 1960s marked the dominance of this method in this research domain. One of the definitions of systematic observation is, "a tool of research that encompasses the directly observed behavior and records that behavior in accordance with the domains or categories that were formulated before the data was being collected" (Bryman, 2008, p. 254). Basically, the notion of systematic observation is to develop and propose give a brief description in concern with the prevalent system of education (Croll, 1986). The observed data can be used for various purposes like analyzing the behavior of teacher, explore the pattern of interaction between the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two students that I observed are the following: Eda and Zander. Zander was a four year old little boy and Eda was a four year old little girl. Eda and Zander were playing with the magnet tiles in the toy area because the block area was being used. The materials that were available to Eda and Zander were trinkets (like buttons), toys (like mini plastic figures), and magnet tiles. The activity that Eda and Zander were doing in the toy area was the following: creating a "party" out of magnet tiles. First, Eda got out the magnet tiles and began to make a big room out of the tiles. When I asked Eda about what she was doing, Eda said, "I am making a party." I asked Eda if the room she was making was the party room, and she said yes. After that, I asked Eda who was coming to the party. Eda said that everyone was coming to the party, except for teachers because they were "sick." Then Zander came over and started to build with Eda. Zander made a hospital and Eda made a few bathrooms for the party. • 50. Reflection Paper On Observation Of A Student Over the past month I have been observing in Lebanon High school in a biology class. During my time in this class I have observed a lot and have had a lot of great opportunities that have helped open my eyes toward teaching, and the skills that are necessary to be successful in the field. While there I had the opportunity to work with a student with learning disabilities. During this interaction I learned how to best work with those who have a learning disability and that it takes the ability to think outside the box when trying to explain to the student what the task is so that they are able to understand what they are being asked to do. While observing the student with learning disabilities I observed a few interesting qualities that this student had that stood out from the other students. One of the qualities that I observed was that he was quiet. Unlike the rest of his class who would turn around and talk with the kids behind them, he would just sit there and wait for further instructions. Another interesting observation that I made was that my student would be interested in his work, but as time went on he began to loose interest in his work and would need someone to remind him to stay on task which was one of his accommodations. I found that his ability to become unmotivated was more prevalent when he was taking notes with the class off the smart board compared to when the class was in a group discussion and the teacher was asking open ended questions. • 52. Student Observation Of Jane Doe For my student observation, I am observing Jane Doe. Jane is in the 9th grade at Grafton high school where she is a student in Mr. Minor's AP Human Geography class. She classifies as a female and describes her ethnicity as Hispanic. Jane, unfortunately, has a significant hearing loss that makes it harder for her to understand class directions and lectures. Although, her hearing is not completely lost she still has trouble hearing when seated in certain areas of the classroom. Especially towards the back of the classroom and the side opposite of Mr. Minor's desk. With her seating arrangement in the back, this prevented her from following along with lectures and class discussions. In addition, her interaction with classmates was nonexistent. However, after discussing the issue with Mr. Minor changes were implemented. At the beginning of the school year Jane was positioned in the back part of the classroom. Mr. Minor then proceeded to move her next to his desk allowing her better access to him. Prior to Jane's move to her present seat, she experienced trouble hearing Mr. Minor. Thus, making it harder for her to get on task. She also struggled to follow directions given by Mr. Minor relying on classmates to relay the message. I noticed that she would increasingly become frustrated when she was unable to keep up in class. Although her behavior was never unacceptable she struggled ever so slightly. Having started to work with my students, I have become aware of the different knowledge and supports needed to best support my students which is something that is challenge. Likewise, with every student having a very detailed and tailored behavior intervention plan, I need to know each plan when interacting with the students to run them correctly. Taking on this challenge, I have found myself continuously reviewing behavior plans and self–reflecting on my interactions with students, especially when dealing with students in times of crisis. The sub explained her expectation and how respect is her one of her rules. She then continues to explained the instruction for the two worksheet that the teacher left for the class. Within 15 minutes into class, I noticed that there many groups forming like a group of girls would be grooming/putting on makeup, others would be talking, and the rest of the class would be doing the worksheet. I then observed one student and the sub for twenty minute, and the student for the most part was doing the worksheet and collaborating with his partner. The sub did walk around the class several times to make sure that students were doing part of the worksheet. She would event ask the student question over it, but mainly because she wanted to know what they were learning. I was able to help out some students, but most student were off task. Also Mr. Hart was served his last drink before the bartender had even seen the second issue when he fell when trying to confront Mrs. White as she was leaving. Working in education as a substitute for the past ten years, I never had the option to go in depth with all the planning one really does as a teacher. Previously, I assumed teachers jobs were one of the easiest to come across, due to my friends all getting degrees in education, I thought it was a walk in the park. Little did I know there is so much effort put into even the smallest of class activities? However, that is if you are a good teacher. I am eager to say I was baffled by the styles in which the two classes I observed altered. One of the teachers that I had was absolutely meticulous in the way she ran her classroom. The second teacher I observed was polar opposite, where he had lessons planned, everything else seemed to fall where it may throughout the day. Through both teachers I gathered the different techniques they used to gather their data, how they tracked students' accommodations' in the classroom. I was able to compare the classroom management during student transitions from group work to individual work, as well as find strategies used in both classrooms to keep students engaged throughout instruction, reading and group times. • 78. Reflection For Student Observation September 29,2017: I was super nervous and excited today, this was the day that I had been long wait for. Today I went to go ask if I could do my student observation hours at Vermont. When I went I was confused because everyone in the office was telling me to go to different places and I was told to go and return the next day. I was told that the Vice Principal had to assign me a classroom and that she was not there today. October 3,2017: I went and met with the Vice Principal and she assigned me a Kindergarten classroom. I was super nervous, I was finally able to be in a classroom! I was exhausted even though I didn't help in the classroom. I felt overwhelmed, and I was questioning myself if this was what I wanted to do.
