a warmingup related with the
topic and get them interested
on it.
2-. Identifystudent’s previous
knowledge.

keywordsforthe reading
comprehension lesson.
4-. Make the students predict
whattheyare goingto learn in
the lesson.
1-. Using a motivating visual
aid to introduce the topic of
the text.
2-. Spread the prepared
handout (it must address
student’s interests). Teacher
gives instructions and ask
students to apply the reading
technique of “skimming and
scanning” (read the text in
silence) in order to have a
general idea about the piece
of information.
3-. Teacher asks students if
they found some keywords.
Then, students read the text
again in silence or in front of
the class.
4-. Afterthe reading, students
solve the exercises prompted
by the teacher.
5-. Teacher explains the
exercises and teaches the
content in context.
1-. Teacher prompts students
to check and correct the
answers.In orderto give them
some feedback.
2-. Teacher summarizes the
lesson.
3-. Afterthe nutshell,students
can give opinions about the
class activity or about the text
4-. The lesson can conclude
with a last ludic activity
relatedwiththe contentgiven.
5-. Finally, teacher suggests
students look for some extra
information.

Writing
Pre (10’) While (70’) Post (10’)
1-.Motivate students with an
interesting topic.
2-. Teacher prompts students
to discuss about the topic.
3-. Teacher gives students key
word making a brainstorm in
order to use them in the
developing of the lesson.
4-. With the brainstorming
studentscanpredictwhatthey
are going to learn.
1-. Teacherassignsthe activity
and gives them clear
directions. Maybe they can
write a paragraph, sentences,
rewrite a text or some other
activity related with this skill
and according with the main
topic of the lesson.
2-. Students must use in their
writing activity the keywords
previously given.
3-. Teacher provides the
opportunitytoshare students’
drafts in order to compare,
solve doubts,correct mistakes
and improve their writing
abilities monitoring the
process.
4-. Finally, teacher has to
explain some grammar focus
addressed during the writing
lesson and check
understanding.
1-. In this part of the class
teacher evaluate the work
done during the given task.
2-. Teacher can ask students
what they learnt providing
feedback.
3-. Finally, teacher can ask
studentsif theylike the lesson,
if they have some doubts and
how they learnt.
4-. Self evaluation and Co-
evaluation can be useful to
discover how they lean.
How to teach
Speaking
Pre (10’) While (70’) Post (10’)
1-. A warming up activity can
be useful to captivate students
to participate in the class and
being interested on it. These
kinds of activities motivate
and take them close to
communicative approach.
2-. Teach students keywords
to use duringthe lesson, focus
the activity on fluency and
accuracy.
3-. Teacher must be a good
model of speaking language.
4-. Teacher must provide all
necessarymaterialstodevelop
the class. Besides, he or she
has to supply other models
making a relation between
speaking and listening.
1-. Several activities can be
addressed in this part of the
class. For instance: imitation,
sing a song, respond
questions, recording
performances etc. Here
teacher can identify students’
weaknesses and can improve
their pronunciation or
grammar structures.
2-. Do not forgetcheckfluency
and accuracy avoiding
grammar focus.Is necessaryto
provide learning in context
and according to students’
level.
3-. Teacher must use
conversation maintenance
cues when students are
speaking.
4-. Use mine and nonverbal
expression in order to show
confidence.
1-. Teacher must summarize
the lesson highlighting the
most important content.
2-. Teacher has to give
studentsappropriate feedback
and correction in order to
recognize their weaknesses.
3-. Asking for clarification.
(Doubts).
4-. Finally, identify how
students leant better.

Listening
Pre (10’) While (70’) Post (10’)
1-. Teacher must choose a
listening in a topic known by
students in order to get them
motivated with the while
activity.
2-. A warming up activity,
according to their English
level, in which they listen
somethingcan be useful to be
prepared for the lesson,
identifying keywords and
recognizing the topic.
3. Previous to the while,
teacher can ask questions to
check students’ listening
comprehension.
1-. Teacher supplies the
prepared handout in which
students will work and read
instructions.
2-. Teacher reproduces the
audio in front of the class and
students identify general
ideas.
3-. Students listen the audio
again and teacher checks
understanding.
4-. Studentscomplete the task
with teacher supervision and
working in pairs. In that way,
students can identify some
mistakes and correct them,
checkinganswers among their
classmates.
5-. Finally, teacher checks the
answers with the whole class.
6 Teach lexis, grammar In
context and pronunciation.
7, Exercise and practice.
1-. Teacher summarizes the
lesson.
2-. Withan evaluation teacher
can check students’
understanding.
3-. Ask for students’ opinions.

How to teach

  • 1. How to teach By Nicole Arce K. Reading Pre (10’) While (70’) Post (10’) 1-. To motivate students make a warmingup related with the topic and get them interested on it. 2-. Identifystudent’s previous knowledge. 3-. Showstudentsuseful keywordsforthe reading comprehension lesson. 4-. Make the students predict whattheyare goingto learn in the lesson. 1-. Using a motivating visual aid to introduce the topic of the text. 2-. Spread the prepared handout (it must address student’s interests). Teacher gives instructions and ask students to apply the reading technique of “skimming and scanning” (read the text in silence) in order to have a general idea about the piece of information. 3-. Teacher asks students if they found some keywords. Then, students read the text again in silence or in front of the class. 4-. Afterthe reading, students solve the exercises prompted by the teacher. 5-. Teacher explains the exercises and teaches the content in context. 1-. Teacher prompts students to check and correct the answers.In orderto give them some feedback. 2-. Teacher summarizes the lesson. 3-. Afterthe nutshell,students can give opinions about the class activity or about the text 4-. The lesson can conclude with a last ludic activity relatedwiththe contentgiven. 5-. Finally, teacher suggests students look for some extra information.
  • 2. How to teach Writing Pre (10’) While (70’) Post (10’) 1-.Motivate students with an interesting topic. 2-. Teacher prompts students to discuss about the topic. 3-. Teacher gives students key word making a brainstorm in order to use them in the developing of the lesson. 4-. With the brainstorming studentscanpredictwhatthey are going to learn. 1-. Teacherassignsthe activity and gives them clear directions. Maybe they can write a paragraph, sentences, rewrite a text or some other activity related with this skill and according with the main topic of the lesson. 2-. Students must use in their writing activity the keywords previously given. 3-. Teacher provides the opportunitytoshare students’ drafts in order to compare, solve doubts,correct mistakes and improve their writing abilities monitoring the process. 4-. Finally, teacher has to explain some grammar focus addressed during the writing lesson and check understanding. 1-. In this part of the class teacher evaluate the work done during the given task. 2-. Teacher can ask students what they learnt providing feedback. 3-. Finally, teacher can ask studentsif theylike the lesson, if they have some doubts and how they learnt. 4-. Self evaluation and Co- evaluation can be useful to discover how they lean.
  • 3. How to teach Speaking Pre (10’) While (70’) Post (10’) 1-. A warming up activity can be useful to captivate students to participate in the class and being interested on it. These kinds of activities motivate and take them close to communicative approach. 2-. Teach students keywords to use duringthe lesson, focus the activity on fluency and accuracy. 3-. Teacher must be a good model of speaking language. 4-. Teacher must provide all necessarymaterialstodevelop the class. Besides, he or she has to supply other models making a relation between speaking and listening. 1-. Several activities can be addressed in this part of the class. For instance: imitation, sing a song, respond questions, recording performances etc. Here teacher can identify students’ weaknesses and can improve their pronunciation or grammar structures. 2-. Do not forgetcheckfluency and accuracy avoiding grammar focus.Is necessaryto provide learning in context and according to students’ level. 3-. Teacher must use conversation maintenance cues when students are speaking. 4-. Use mine and nonverbal expression in order to show confidence. 1-. Teacher must summarize the lesson highlighting the most important content. 2-. Teacher has to give studentsappropriate feedback and correction in order to recognize their weaknesses. 3-. Asking for clarification. (Doubts). 4-. Finally, identify how students leant better. How to teach
  • 4. Listening Pre (10’) While (70’) Post (10’) 1-. Teacher must choose a listening in a topic known by students in order to get them motivated with the while activity. 2-. A warming up activity, according to their English level, in which they listen somethingcan be useful to be prepared for the lesson, identifying keywords and recognizing the topic. 3. Previous to the while, teacher can ask questions to check students’ listening comprehension. 1-. Teacher supplies the prepared handout in which students will work and read instructions. 2-. Teacher reproduces the audio in front of the class and students identify general ideas. 3-. Students listen the audio again and teacher checks understanding. 4-. Studentscomplete the task with teacher supervision and working in pairs. In that way, students can identify some mistakes and correct them, checkinganswers among their classmates. 5-. Finally, teacher checks the answers with the whole class. 6 Teach lexis, grammar In context and pronunciation. 7, Exercise and practice. 1-. Teacher summarizes the lesson. 2-. Withan evaluation teacher can check students’ understanding. 3-. Ask for students’ opinions. 4-. Finally,teacherfinishesthe lessonshowingthe classa enthusiasticvisual aid connectedwiththe topic,in orderto motivate theirfuture participationof the classor theirfuture experienceson listening.
