2. For my school magazine I chose the target audience to be specific to year 12
and 13 pupils. I attracted them by manipulating the magazine to suit them by
using model’s of similar age to keep the young persons trend. I also address
the audience through the layout for instance, the colour schemes (such as
blue) that would be unisex and appeal within their age group and included
current issues or trends that would interest them.
I chose the R&B genre as it’s a music type that I regularly listen too and can
relate too. I thought this would be an excellent choice as being a fan already
I felt enthusiastic about the creation of my magazine as I felt I had many
ideas too put together in order to make an R&B magazine that I personally
would pick up and purchase in a local newsagents. The genre helped me
gain a starting point for whom I should aim my magazine for. I addressed my
audience from the age of 16-25 from mixed gender which would also
increase sales due to the large audience. I used an informal manner, to
appeal to the reader and make them feel part of what they are reading and
encourage them to continue reading.
3. This 'lure' is also used and
underlined showing ‘5 FREE‘ The bar code and price/issue
posters, this attracts the audience in number to add to the realism of the
as a persuasive technique to make magazine and attracts the
the audience want to purchase the audience as an existing product
magazine as a product. with iconic codes and conventions
of a magazine.
My target audience may be attracted
to this as they idolise the artists
mentioned and may look up to them as
a role model. Therefore, they would
purchase this magazine.
The main Featured Headline (being an
interview with a famous R&B band) is written
in large and bright typography to attract the
audience. This is because it has been
presented into the magazine through this
feature which is expressed to be popular.
The word 'Exclusive' endorses the audience
giving the magazine the advantage of the
reader knowing its exclusive within this
magazine for them to read.
4. This will attract the audience as they will relate
to this sub-heading as they will also love R&B
simply for the fact this is a magazine aimed at
R&B therefore, all readers will be fans of the
music type.
This will attract the audience
as they will recognise their
favourite celebrities when
they were children.
The Face Book/ twitter symbols
given, illustrate the modern
times of how its linking to the
attraction of the younger
generation of following a social
networking website rather than
a web address.
5. My questionnaire helped me gain an insight of what kind
of key features and layout I should include to help attract
the audience in my music magazine. From my
questionnaire I took into consideration the most popular
choices and developed from there, which would enable me
too attract a large audience. Throughout the creation of my
music magazine, I used a colour scheme of red, blue and
black that would appeal to both genders. Following this,
my photography was also of both male and female to
illustrate PULSE as a unisex magazine. In order to attract
the audience even more I included iconic words and
features which relate to the R&B style that would be seen
in a typical music magazine.
