2. This year will be devoted to understanding
and learning more about worship. We will
have a different focus each month, but the
main emphasis will be learning how God
wants us to worship Him. This month our
focus will be the “Faithfulness in Worship.”
Understanding the complete concept of
worship may be complex, but we can be
sure that God wants and expects us to be
faithful in our worship of Him.
3. The Prophet Jeremiah, wrote:
“Through the LORD’s mercies we are
not consumed, Because His
compassions fail not. They are new
every morning; Great is Your
faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22–23, NKJV)
Since God is faithful in providing His
endless mercy, should not we be faithful in
our worship to Him? The biblical word for
“worship” conveys at least three principles
we should apply to our worship:
4. 1. Steadfast Devotion. This implies an
attitude of a firm commitment. Other
words are set, stability and steady.
2. Trustworthy Stewardship. This has
the concept of moral fidelity. Other
words are loyalty, reliability and
faithfulness.
3. Truthful Intentions. This has to do
with the purpose for our assembling
together for worship. Our focus must
be on God.
5. The writer of the Book of Hebrews believe
that corporate worship was fundamental to
the Christian faith when he wrote:
“not forsaking the assembling of
ourselves together, as is the manner
of some, but exhorting one another,
and so much the more as you see the
Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25, NKJV)
We need to understand that the blessings
we receive from worship are a by-product
of our worship and not the focus.
6. When we assemble to worship we do so to
give, not to receive. The effort to "get
more" out of worship has led to all types of
artificial, superficial, and unscriptural
gimmicks. The Apostle Paul wrote these
words to the church at Rome.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by
the mercies of God, to present your
bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and
acceptable to God, which is your
spiritual worship.” (Romans 12:1, ESV)
