Wisdom

Someone who has the gift of wisdom can see how
everything is part of God’s love and his plan
Knowledge
The ability to find important information and facts
and look at them objectively and intelligently
Understanding
The ability to see from another person’s heart, to
feel the feelings of others and to put these before
our own

Counsel
The gift in which a person is open to others’
insights about a problem and skilled at working with
the people to solve that problem
Fortitude (often also referred to as Courage)
The ability to follow our convictions and conscience
no matter what the cost
Courage gives us the strength to do what is right in
spite of obstacles or difficulties

Piety
Honoring God and His people because you
understand the blessings He has given you and
know that you cannot repay these gifts
Fear of the Lord (often also referred to as
Wonder and Awe)
The ability to be amazed by the things in life, to be
awake to the realization that we are always in
God’s presence
The “Fear” is a fear of ever being separated from
God’s perfect love.

God’s grace and
using the gifts that
He has given us,

the fruits of the
Holy Spirit come
out in our lives and
the lives of others

There are many fruits of the Holy Spirit. The
tradition of the Church lists twelve of them:
“charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, generosity, gentleness, faithfulness,
modesty, self-control, chastity.”
When we are experiencing these fruits in our
lives, we begin to understand more fully the gift
of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is overflow of the love between
God the Father and Jesus His son. We
participate in this by following Christ and
becoming His hands and feet.
A commitment to this relationship is key. A
good recommended list of practices and
disciplines in the faith might begin with:
Commitment to work towards 30 minutes of silent
prayer each day.
Regular confession (once a month is common)
Attending Sunday Mass and daily when possible.
