2. Here is the screenshot which fully shows all of the
video clips and images that we took and were able
to use throughout our production process.
Having an abundance of footage was important to
us as it enabled us to be more creative with our
cutting rate and also acted as a contingency if any
shots didn’t work as planned.
The images were vital to our digipak and magazine
poster production. We also had images to show the
process of filming.
3. This shows us turning the shots to black and white.
We not only did this to experiment with editing but
also felt it would add an interesting element to the
video.
We left the outdoor shots in normal colour and
turned all indoor shots black and white, our main
reason for doing so was to categorize and separate
the ‘as live’ shots. We felt that this gave the video a
clearer structure and in turn would make our
intentions clearer to the audience. It was also noted
in our audience research that the audience felt it
was important for us to include both elements but
clearly distinguish between them.
4. When filming for our video we wanted to ensure that
we had all of the necessary footage and therefore shot
for longer than was needed. Due to this we then
needed to cut the shots down and extract the valuable
footage. This screenshot shows how we selected only a
small part of the clip, this way we were able to more
closely follow our story board and tailor our clips to
meet the beat of the track.
5. Within this screenshot we show how we input our
sound file by dragging the audio only. We placed this
file beneath our movie footage and were then able to
input the relevant shots according to the different
stages in the track.
6. Not only did we have to order and input our
shots but we added additional effects such
as ‘dip to black’ transitions to add additional
value to our video. The screenshot shows
our process of doing this. We had to set our
start and our end time to determine the
duration of the effect to ensure that it
worked effectively.
7. We decided to change the clip speed/duration
throughout the video to add an interesting effect, it
also allowed us to integrate shots of the instruments
without loosing the overall quality of our video by
continuously adding similar instrument shots.
Our audience research told us that shots of the
instruments was not only conventional but generated
interest, therefore we wanted to add our own spin on
this.
