2. The Amazon Rain Forest
About 20% of earth's oxygen is produced by the Amazon
rainforest.
The Amazon rainforest gets its name from the Amazon
River, the life force of the rainforest.
The Amazon River begins in the Peruvian Andes, and
winds its way east over the northern half of South America.
It covers more than half of Brazil.
Over 500 mammals, 175 lizards and over 300 other
reptiles species, and one third of the world's birds live in
Amazonia.
4. The Amazon River
The Amazon river is located in South America. It runs
through Guyana,Venezuela, Bolivia, Brazil and
Colombia.
The length of the Amazon River is approximately 6400
kilometres (4000 miles).
Anacondas lurk in the shallow waters of the Amazon
Basin, they are one of the largest snakes in the world
and occasionally attack larger animals such as goats
that get to close the water.
There are no bridges that cross the Amazon, mostly
because there is no need, the majority of the Amazon
River runs through rainforests rather than roads or
cities.
