SINOPSIS KURSUS
This course focuses on the various aspects related to the teaching of mathematics in
secondary schools which includes the history, and philosophy. This course also
discusses the curriculum and assessment standards for teaching mathematics;
contemporary issues and research findings related to teaching mathematics; students’
misconceptions; and ways to address them.
Kursus ini memberi tumpuan kepada pelbagai aspek yang berkait dengan pengajaran
matematik sekolah menengah termasuklah sejarah, dan falsafah. matematik sekolah
menengah. Kursus ini juga membincangkan standard kurikulum dan pentafsiran bagi
pengajaran matematik; isu-isu kontemporari dan dapatan kajian berkaitan pendekatan
pengajaran matematik; miskonsepsi pelajar dan pelbagai cara menanganinya.
2. HASIL PEMBELAJARAN
1. Critically discuss the aims and rationale for including algebra in secondary school
mathematics curriculum and analyze the secondary school mathematics curriculum.
(C5, CT3).
2. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the main ideas underpinning algebra by
incorporating them in their lesson planning and apply the various approaches to
teaching mathematics in secondary schools. (C3, A3, P3, CS3, EM2).
3. Analyse students’ misconceptions about mathematics. (C4, A2).
4. Critically discuss the contemporary issues and research findings related to the
teaching and learning of mathematics in secondary schools and show concerns to
the history and philosophy of algebra. (C5, A4, CT3). Work in teams to improve the
quality of teaching mathematics. (TS3, LS2).
