The human heart is approximately the size of a fist and located slightly left of center in the chest. It has four chambers - two upper atria and two lower ventricles - and is surrounded by a double-membrane sac called the pericardium. The heart pumps oxygen-rich blood received from the lungs through arteries throughout the body and deoxygenated blood back to the lungs through veins to be re-oxygenated.

 The heart is roughly conical in
shape with the upper end broader
than the lower.

6. Arteries : Carry blood away fron the heart. The aorta
is the largest artery.
Veins : Carry blood back to the heart.(contain valves)
The vena cava is the largest vein.

and many other nutrients ,waste and chemicals

tubes called arteries and veins
which together are called blood
vessels.

Attack bacteria and help
fight disease or
infection.
Help the blood if you get
cut.

9. Blood delivers oxygen to all the body
cells to stay alive. We need healthy
living cells. Without oxygen, these cells
would die.
If the oxygen rich blood doesn´t
circulate as it should , we would die.

10. The heart is a muscular
organ in the circulatory
system that is responsible for
pumping blood throughout
the blood vessels to our body.

11.  The right side of your heart receives
blood from the body and pumps it to
the lungs.
 The left side of your heart receives
blood from the lungs and pumps it out
to the body.
