INDEX
3. Earth’s Axis
The axis is the imaginary
straight line that the
planet spins around.
The axis of the Earth is
TILTED at an angle of
23.5 degrees and rotates
at this angle.
4. The seasons
Here is a picture showing Earth’s orbit around
the Sun from the side view of the elliptic path.
The angle of the Earth’s axis is facing toward the Sun in one
position (summer) and away from the sun (winter) in another.
5. Geographic Poles
The geographic poles
of the Earth are
defined as the
locations where the
Earth spins around its
axis.
The geographic north
pole is located in the
Arctic Ocean.
The geographic south
pole is located on
Antarctica.
6. Equator
The Equator usually
refers to an imaginary
line on the Earth´s
surface equidistant from
the North Pole and south
pole , dividing the Earth
into the northern
hemisphere and
southern hemisphere.
7. Earth’s Layers
How are the earth’s
layers similar to an
egg?
Shell=crust
Egg white=mantle
Yolk=core
8. The Core
Made mostly of iron
1/3 of the earth’s mass
Very hot
