2. Dear Gustavo,
You are not going to believe it, but Nico and I have travelled to Prehistory. This summer, we
went to visit some caves and we went through a crevice. When we got out the cave, we
realized that we were in a completely different place. After a while, we found a clan, what is
like a lot of families living like one. They were very curious when they came close to us. They
were dressed with fur and had a long and messy hair. At the beginning, we were very scared,
but a sweet woman offered us food. Since then, we stayed there with the clan.

3. We sent you this letter through the crevice, which seems to be a door to another
dimension.
We don’t know very well in which period of Prehistory, but according with Pilar’s
explanations in class, we are in the Paleolithic.

4. You will wonder how we communicate with them, the truth is that we understand each
other by sign language quite well. Nico and I don’t do the same chores, because here,
men and women do different tasks. I help women to make baskets and gather plants and
seeds. Nico sharps the knifes and the spears to hunt the animals and cut the meat.
Some tools are made with stone and ivory, taken from the mammoth tusks.
Yesterday, we tried mammooth meat, preserved in salt and herbs. After this, I am going
to become vegetarian.

5. Do you remember that Pilar told us about the Altamira Caves? Nico and I have painted our
hand on the cave, it is done to sign your name on the wall, remember that the alphabet doesn’t
exist yet. To make the painting, they scratch clay until it is powder and it is mixed with water
and animal fat.
We miss you and we hope to come back home soon. Tomorrow, Nico and I will try to cross the
crevice to go back to our world.

6. Dear Gustavo:
Clara and I went through the crevice while everybody was sleeping, when we crossed it we
thought that we would come back home, but we appeared in the same field we were, although
the clan wasn’t there anymore. Far away, we saw a village formed by houses built with adobe
and a few bonfires which released smoke and a roast smell. It reminded me of Asterix’s
hamlet.

7. When we headed towards the village, a man talked to us in a strange language. He seemed
to be asking us who we were and what we were doing there. The drama lessons where useful
to explain that we were lost. He brought us to one of the houses where a man with a long
white beard came out, he looked like a druid. They talked to each other while Clara and I
were having a bowl of soup. We are still staying there.

8. As Pilar explained in class, we might be in the Neolithic. People live in houses made with
adobe, grow plants and take care of animals. Yesterday, I saw a man milking a cow at our
house door. Some families have a dog, the same as in our time. The tools they used are like
the ones in the museums. They are made of stone, bone, esparto and animal ligaments. There
is nothing made of metal because people do not know how to shape it yet. However, the wheel
has been invented.
There are carriages everywhere, not only pulled by ox but also by men.

9. When we arrived, they gave us new clothes, similar to robes which were made of linen, although
very thick and it was very itchy. The clothes made of fur that we were wearing has been used
to make a bag. While the druid was making it, he was so shocked. He would be even more
surprised if he knew the fur came from the Paleolithic.
Tonight Clara and I will try to escape to send you this letter through the crevice.

10. Dear Gustavo:
Nico and I crossed the crevice again, but we couldn’t go back home. I wonder if we will have to
go through all the historical periods before coming back. When we crossed the crevice, the
village have grown a lot. Now, the houses are made of stone and the roof of adobe, the same as
the Castros in Galicia or Asterix’s Hamlet houses, as my brother says. There were a lot of
people walking everywhere buying and selling in the street market. Money has been invented,
that’s why we think we are in the Iron Age.

11. Around the village, there is a stone wall watched by people with metallic spears, which confirms
our suspiction of being in the Metal Ages. Vases and bowls are made of copper and there are
blacksmith’s in many places in the villages.
Nobody seems to notice that we are here, only a dog is following us everywhere. Maybe we will
bring it home, where we want to go back. This adventure has been amazing, but we are missing
you. This journey is starting to get boring. Since money has been invented everybody is so
busy buying and selling, like it nothing else was important.
