1. How does you media product represent
groups particular social?
my magazine represents age as it is designed for
16-18 year-olds as I found in my research that they
were the most popular age group to read
magazines. I made sure that my front cover would
be suitable for this age group by using a model
around the same age as 16-18 year-olds and by
using convergence as social media is a big part in
teenagers everyday life.
It also represents gender as my model is a female
and in popular R&B they are known to wear high
heels and quite revealing clothing. However my
magazine challenges this stereotype as my model
wears trainers which is something males would
typically wear, but now fashion as taken a huge part
in the music industry it is seen as the social norm for
women to incorporate male clothing in their out fits.
My magazine is aimed at middle class people as these are the
types of people that are most likely to be inspired by the lives
of celebrities and try and match a standard of living as the
media has portrayed their lives as glamorous through the
clothes they wear to where they live. So most middle class
teenagers will see the outfits and items that their favourite
music artists will have in the music magazine and will try and
buy them as is seen as 'cool' to have something luxurious like
the celebrities.
