This shot shows a close up
of Jessica’s birthday cake.
It is used to signify the
realization Jessica nor
Sarah will ever actually
get to experience this.
3. Midshot
The audience is made
aware of the fact that Sarah
is in the hospital by this
shot. It lets them know the
extent of the accident and
what state she is in.
4. Close Up
This also informs the audience that she is in hospital and
the close up reflects how she was not badly injured
compared to her family.
5. Midshot
Sarah is confused and does not know where she is or what
has happened to her family. This shot shows her looking
around. A midshot is used to establish where she is.
6. Close Up
This close up shows the fear Sarah has just before the
lights start to go off suggesting her sensing something is
about to happen.
7. Trombone
Sarah runs down the hospital hallway but the shot makes it
look like it is never ending, this is a tracking shot. This may
reflect that she feels like wont escape her current situation.
8. Over the shoulder
This shot is used to show the impending darkness coming
after Sarah. This adds an element of fear to the audience
as Sarah begins to run.
9. Steadicam
This smoothly catches the action of Sarah running down
the hallway as the lights begin to turn off and reflects her
trying to run away from death.
10. Arc Shot
This is used when Beth tells Sarah her family have died. It
shows how distraught she is after finding this out and how
her life will now permanently change.
11. Midshot

down on Sarah and Beth
showing their closeness as
friends. It also shows how
emotional and weak Sarah
currently is.
