A NATO Advanced Study Institute on this topic-,
will be held at the University of Rhode Island, Kingston,
R.I., 29 July to 9 August, 1974. Some forty invited
lectures are planned. Lecture courseswill cover such
topics as mechanisms of growth, models for the
amorphous state, optical properties, electronic band
structure, transport properties, lattice dynamics and
infrared and Raman spectra, chalcogenide and other
non-tetrahedrally bonded glasses, and liquid semi-
conductors. One day will be devoted to short contri-
buted presentations of new theoretical and experimental
results.
Information:
GFR, September 3-13, 1974. Lecture courses will
cover the physics and chemistry of organic and in-
organic solids with low-dimensional intramolecular
electronic interactions, e~g.'TCNQ' compounds and
linear chain transition metal complexes. This includes
a discussion of the magnetic, electrical and optical
properties of these compounds and of the spectroscopic
methods which have been used to identify low-
dimensional co-operative phenomena.
Further details and application forms will be
available later in the year, from Prof. Dr. H.J. Keller,
Anorg-Chem. Institut der Unl'versit//t Heidelberg,
D-6900 Heidelberg, Ln Neuenheimer Feld'7, GFR.

Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.
26-30 August 1974
Fourth International Conference on Raman
Spectroscopy.
The Fourth International Conference on Raman
Spectroscopy will be held at Bowdoin College, Bruns-
wick, Maine. This conference is the fourth of the
series which began in Ottawa (1969), followed by
Oxford (1970), and Reims (1972).
Information:
The Conference is sponsored by the Electronic
Materials Committee of A1ME.The general subject
will be: 'Preparation and Properties of Electronic
Materials'. Among the specific topics to be emphasized
according to preliminary plans, are silicon materials,
optoelectronic materials, and materials for microwave
applications.
The deadline for submitting 200-300 word
abstracts of contributed papers is May I, 1974. Papers
presented will be considered for publication in the
Journal of Electronic Materials.
