3. 1. Introduction
In IUBAT most of the students faced speaking
problems, when they wants speaking with their
friends or teachers, they feel nervous because,
they have not enough self- confidence, lake of
skill and they fear in speaking English.

4. 1.1 Background and Rationale of Study
• Krashen (1985) in his Affective Filter hypothesis
states that emotional or affective factors can be
categorized into three; motivation, self-confidence
and anxiety to remove nervousness.
• Krashen claims that learners with high motivation,
self-confidence, a good self-image and a low level of
anxiety are better equipped for success in second
language acquisition.

• This overview of the existing research provides
both a context of theoretical foundation for
the investigation and analysis of IUBAT
students speaking problem.

• This research paper is based on the following
research questions:
1.What are the things that students used in
developing their English Speaking?
2.What are the influential factors that related to
the students to remove the nervousness in English
Speaking?
3.How can students overcome the nervousness
in English Speaking?

• Scovel (1978), Shumman (1975, 1998),
Krashen (1982) and MacIntyre and Garner
(1991, 1992 and 1994).
• Krashen (1985) in his Affective Filter
hypothesis states that emotional or affective
factors can be categorized into three;

remove nervousness.

• Krashen claims that learners with high
motivation, self-confidence, a good self-image

• We think motivation, self-confidence and
vocabulary will ‘raise’ the affective that
prevents comprehensible input from being
used for acquisition for nervousness of
speaking in English.

10. 3. Research Methodology
3.1 PARTICIPANTS
• The subjects in this study were ten Students
who studied in IUBAT in the summer semester
of academic year 2019.

11. 3.2 INSTRUMENT
• The instrument in this survey was a 8 item
questionnaire based on Nervousness of
Speaking English.
• Money, pen, papers etc.
• Only 5 strategies are included in the
questionnaire due to time constraint and
cultural appropriateness.

12. 3.3 PROCEDURES
First of all we made 8 questions then
distributed it. The answered questionnaires
were collected right after the respondents
finished them.
10 questionnaires had been distributed and
10 questionnaires were returned that is, 100%
of the respondents’ responses.
All of the questionnaires were analyzed.

• This research was Qualitative research
because, this research was finding
research.

• After this research we found that some of the
IUBAT students were faced Speaking problem
due to lack of self confidence, vocabulary, fear
ness because most of the students came from
Bangla medium.
• Also we found that some of the students are
speaking well because they overcome their
nervousness in Speaking English.

16. 5. Discussion
To find out students speaking problem we made
8 questions for 10 students individually. This
overview of the existing research provides both
a context of theoretical foundation for the
investigation and analysis of IUBAT students
speaking problem.

17. 6. Conclusion
English is the first language in the world, but second language in
our country that’s why most of the students fear in speaking. We
understand, why most of the IUBAT students are fail to speaking
English. We found that motivation, self-confidence and
vocabulary raise the affective that prevents comprehensible
input from being used for acquisition for nervousness of
speaking in English.

18. Recommendation
• If anyone wants to do further research on
Nervousness faced by Students, he/she can
consult with any English Department teachers
those are an excellent collection of articles of
nervousness learning and teaching strategies.
