2. There is 42 types of whales in the world. However there are two different types of whale Baleen and Odontoceti. Baleen means that instead of having teeth they have baleen plates which they use to filter their food. This also means that they are larger than most Odontoceti whales they also have two blow holes instead of one,. Odontoceti means that they have teeth and the amount of teeth can range from two all the way to 250 depending on species. Most species live in pods and find their food through echolocation.

The Common Minke whale also known as Balaenoptera acutorostrata is one of the smallest baleen whales it grows between 7 -9.8 meters, on average the females are usually 0.5 meters longer than males. Their weight ranging from 5 to 10 tons. The Minke whale live on a diet of various fish and shellfish in the North Atlantic. However when they are living in North Pacific waters they feed mostly on krill. The Minke whale is a black to dark grey colour on its back where its underside is white.
4. The Blue whale also known as: Balaenoptera Musculus can grow up to 30 meters(100 ft), long wards and up to 2000 tons up wards. A full grown Blue whale can consume up to 4-8tons of krill per day. Blue whales swim through all of the worlds oceans in pairs or alone occasionally swimming in small groups. They spend their summers feeding in polar waters but spend their winters by the warm equator. These magnificent creatures can travel at 5kmph however if agitated they can speed up to an amazing 32kmph.
5. The Humpback whale also known as Megaptera novaeangliae . Is a baleen whale and grows up to 12-16 meters and can weigh up to 36,000 kg. A humpbacks diet consist mostly of krill and small fish. Humpbacks live in oceans and seas across the globe and migrate over 25,000 km on average. In the summer they can be found in polar waters feeding off mainly krill but sometimes small fish. The winter is when they Move to sub tropical waters to breed and give birth in this time they fast and live off their fat reserves.
6. The Orca also known as the Killer whale is a toothed whale meaning that its diet consists of things like seals, penguins, fish and even the common Minke Whale or large sharks. Orcas can grow up to 8-9.5 meters the males being lager than the females. It has been discovered that there is up to 5 different types of killer whales that could be considered as sub species. The differences Are that many live in different parts of the oceans and have slightly different diets to each other. Also their colours range from black and white to black, white and a tinge of yellow. Many killer whales have been captured and put into water parks for shows. It is in these parks where they are the most danger because in the wild these creatures have been no threat to humans but since the 1070’s killer whales in captivity have made at least two dozen attacks on people or their handlers some of which have been fatal.
