PHRASAL VERBS
PHRASAL VERBS
 This widely used in English language refers to expressions consisting of
two or three words where a verb is joined together with an ad or a
preposition. As a result the meaning of the verb is modified. Some
examples of verbs used in English include:
 to get away (escapar)
 to keep away (mantenerse alejado)
 to pull down (derribar)
 to stand out (destacar)
 to turn down / to turn on (encender/apagar)
PHRASAL VERBS
 Now, let´s look at some examples of sentences with phrasal verbs.
 1. I am looking for a gold ring for my wedding.
 2. They are waiting for Jonas to come back with food and soda.
 3. The pilot turn on the airplane's autopilot after 2 hours of travel.

FUTURE TENSE
FUTURE TENSE
 Future tense in English can be expressed through two
expressions: "will" and "to be + going to". Both tools are used
for English but should be used in different situations.
 A. Will: Used in situations where prediction is predicted or
something is going to happen in the future. In sentences is
used “will” followed by “the verb in infinitive form”. Example:
You will study all night for the test.
 In cases of negation, “not” after the “auxiliary will” is used.
Example: I will not buy those shoes.
FUTURE TENSE
 B. Going to: is used in sentences where it is desired to express that
something will happen in the future but in a close or immediate way.
Within the sentence you must use the verb to be + going to + verb in
infinitive form. Example: He is going to pay the wrong bill.
 In the negative form requires the use of “not” between “the verb to be”
and the expression “going to”. Example: I am not going to dance.
FUTURE TENSE
 Examples:
 I will find my brother in next mall.
 Charlie is going to drive at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
 My mother will not go to the cinema because she´s sick.
 I will study English all weekend for travel to England the next month.
 The policeman is not going to arrest to Fred.
TAG QUESTION WITH BE
TAG QUESTION WITH BE
 The tag questions correspond to expressions that are placed at the end
of the sentences in order to confirm or discard the information that is
being talked about. They are very typical of the English language.
 It should be noted that an auxiliary verb should be used as a question.
 According to the meaning of the sentence, the question will be asked in
the opposite form. So:
She is eating, is not she?,
TAG QUESTION WITH BE
 Examples
 Martha is eating now, is not she?
 Diego is not a nice person, is he?
 Max is a beautiful dog, is not it?
 Fernando and his friends are happy, are not they?
 You are not doing the homework, are you?
ADDING EMPHASIS: USING
DO/DOES IN THE AFFIRMATIVE
ADDING EMPHASIS: USING

by the verb in its infinitive form in order to indicate emphasis or highlight
the information that is being given.

 Examples:
 Diego does eat all Karen´s food.
 We do work all night in the livingroom.
 You do speak about Mauricio everyday.
 She does love to her boyfriend despite the distance.
 Martin does like to cooking for his wife.
