2.  In 2011, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare
(AIHW) reported that:
 35% of Young Australians ( 12-24yrs) are overweight or
obese
 Only 44% are doing enough physical activity
 Only 5% are meeting Australian Dietary Guidelines
 38% are victims of drug or alcohol abuse
 Diabetes, mental illness and tooth decay are on the rise
These statistics indicate that there is an urgent need
to develop the knowledge and skills of students to
enable them to lead healthy, active and fulfilling
lives.
