Rule: if+ subject + past simple, subject + Past modal + inf.

* We use it to express an unreal or imaginary situation.

    Ex. Imagine the pan of hot oil start burning .what would you do?

    if you did that, you would cut the oxygen and stop the fire

This is very common when the indirect object is a pronoun
