The document is a reflection on the Gospel reading from Matthew 14:13-21 where Jesus feeds 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. It discusses how God provides for his people and how the disciples were able to feed the whole crowd when they shared what little food they had. The reflection encourages the reader to consider where in their own life they have opportunities to share what they have with others.

Monday of the Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel reading, we can see how God takes care
of his people that all ate and were satisfied. On the other
hand, we can see also that once the disciples began to
share the little food they had with those around, it
triggered a similar movement among the crowd. Thus,
when everyone shared, everyone had enough – a picture
of the kind of society the Church should stand for. Where
in my life are there opportunities to “share my food” so
others will have enough? (sacredspace.ie)

and recall the presence of
God within you. Let
everything go from your
day - your worries, tasks,
timelines - just let your
spirit rest in God’s.
Be aware of the great
love God has for you.

10. Intercessions
Gathered together, we offer our prayers to God who nourishes us
abundantly with His love. We pray,
Lord, hear our prayer.
For the pope, bishops and priests, that they may satisfy the people’s hungers for
love and justice, for truth and hope by proclaiming with conviction and love the
message of the good news. We pray:
For all the church communities throughout the world, that God may bless their
creative efforts in safely reaching out and providing for the spiritual and material
needs of people during this time of social distancing. We pray:
For all of us yearning for the Sacrament of the Eucharist during this time, that God
may bless our hunger with an ever increasing devotion and love of Christ that
compels us to share that love with others. We pray:
12. We ask for the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary as we pray,
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death. Amen
13. Keeping in mind that whatever we do, we do it for the glory of God, and so we
pray,
Glory be to the Father
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now,
and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen.
14. God, our compassionate Father,
you let your Son Jesus Christ give food
to all who are hungry in any way.
Make us compassionate for all the poor of our day.
Teach us to see their needs,
to suffer with them, to share in their anguish,
to bind their wounds and to appease their hungers.
Give us the strength to do all this
by the strength of the food of himself
that Jesus gives us in each eucharist.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
