Men Approaching Death
"Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night" by Dylan Thomas describes how men feel when approaching death. The readers are encouraged to
approach death with hesitation because you can offer a lot more to this world if you have the determination to live longer. Thomas use of literary
devices emphasize this idea and gives examples of how men approach death.
The poem begins with the speaker talking to an unknown listener and ends by telling us that the unknown listener is the speaker's father. The speaker
describes the behaviors of various types of outstanding men and how they view their lives. Throughout the poem, the speaker encourages the reader to
fight until their last dying breath. Thomas directly relates to this poem because it was written as he watched his father wither away. This poem
symbolizes his father's determination to fight.
The structure of the poem itself is a very important factor, as it describes the different views of men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darkness symbolizes death and how it is inevitable. Death is something that everyone will experience but that does not mean one should allow it to
define them. People are should fight for as long as they can before they greet death and that is exactly what Thomas is trying to say in the second stanza.
Thomas uses the experiences of the noble men in the third stanza to show that they were contempt with what they did with their life but acknowledge
that there is still more time for them. The noble men are to "rage against the dying of the light" as they are on their last wave (9). They reminisce on
their pasts together and become aware that although they are near their end they can still accomplish more in life. Moreover, they approach death with
hesitation because they feel like they haven't done the most they can with their life. They fight against death to try and utilize the time they still have

A Report On The Flow Chart Diagram ( Table D )
In meeting with the process owner and sponsor, we immediately advised per our analysis, added in 'white' in the Flow Chart Diagram (Table D),
further process to correct material issues and keep the project moving.
Evaluation
Note – We find in the map a significant drain on finance to labor and resources, due to incorrect material, prolonged project time, causing further
overhead and loss in profit. We redirected our investigation to further questions to the key players in the ordering and estimating of materials. This
accounts for a majority of the devastating overhead and lost time of the stakeholders. Further note – a bottleneck with the supplier and unskilled
workforce are also evident. We will utilize the measurement phase to help... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pareto Chart Diagram (Table B) shows a strong correlation between incorrect materials and labor costs. The control chart below shows the process
system in control and needing to change or the process would continue.
The overage in hours is staggering, at $130,000 per year (being $2,500 per week) or 5,200 hours on an average. A further overage of materials and
direct labor cost totaling $120,000 per year in incorrect materials, for a total of $250,000 combined in reduction of costs, increasing resources of the
company and client satisfaction. After we brain stormed on Supplies, process activities, output activities, and customer feedback (SIPOC) and

those processes that have the greatest impact on customer satisfaction" (p. 94). That drastically affects the project cost and impact of the (BVA)
Business value analysis. Upper and lower control limits identified with an X–bar and R chart to validate the process capability with a process mean of

We concluded that the lack of a continuous process improvement(s) program (CPI) has directly related to outer influences crippled this organization. A

Nussbaum's 'Overlapping Consensus'
Humans are notoriously fickle, stubborn beings. Because of this, it is difficult to categorize/measure every humans' viewpoint in one condensed set
of capabilities. Nussbaum does an adequate job of making her list of capabilities broad, but a select number of them are not as applicable as others.
While Nussbaum's list of core capabilities is decisively somewhat universally inclusive, I believe Nussbaum's list of capabilities in its entirety fails to
captivate the sense of universalness that Rawls's "overlapping consensus" encompasses, and believe that it cannot be applied universally.
While a number of Nussbaum's core capabilities potentially applies to enough people to consider it universal, others do not fit the bill quite as well,
thus tainting the universalness of the entire bunch. The capabilities I believe to be the most universal are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in some countries, many adolescent children are given tattoo–like scars, a practice that many western countries might consider to be
mutilation. Cultural differences like that begin to reveal the cracks in the supposed universalness of the core capabilities. Senses, imagination, and
thought are a very important capability to me especially, because I believe in the right to express oneself in creative ways and be able to think about
deeper concepts and communicate with others about their thoughts, an act which is related to the fifth capability. Furthermore, the concept of
comprehensive education that can be easily accessed by all is extremely necessary, in my mind, and allows for our collective society to move forward
in a way the benefits everyone. Emotions, is also an equally necessary capability that should be included. Emotional expression may not be an
important capability to some, but I believe that it is extremely important, especially when it allows people to develop their minds emotionally as
opposed to just intellectually. The fifth capability includes, "[loving], [grieving],

Characteristics Of Six Sigma
Jumpstart to sixsigma program:
Abstract:
Definition of Six sigma:
Six Sigma is defined as highly controlled and well–ordered process to focus on developing and delivering perfect products and services .
FUNDAMENTAL NOTION behind Six Sigma:
"SIGMA" is Statistical term to measure process deviation from its perfection. You can systematically point out "HOW TO ELIMINATE DEFECTS?",
if you are able to measure the defects in a process and may get "ZERO DEFECT" performance. In "Six Sigma" ZERO DEFECT performance is defined
as 3.4 failure rate per million or 99.999% perfect.
Characteristics of Six Sigma:
Six sigma intention is to eradicate wastage, ineffectiveness and in efficient processes and to increase customer satisfaction by facilitating customers in
a way they expect.

Preparing leaders: leaders are essential to provide guidance about Six Sigma principles.
Create Six Sigma Organization: It is to prepare Black Belts and other roles and assign them their responsibilities.
Training the organization: It is very essential to provide training to relevant staff.
Directing Six Sigma efforts: It can be pragmatic to any aspect of Six Sigma.
Project Selection for Six Sigma:
The most difficult thing in Six Sigma is to select most important problem. To select Projects, there are two ways.
Top–down:
This approach is related to business strategy and customer need. This approach takes a lot of time to complete but most Six Sigma projects complete
in 3–6 months.
Bottom–up:
Projects are chosen by Black Belts depending upon capabilities of teams . the major drawback of this approach is that project may not be able to relate
to strategic alarms of management.
Key Methodologies for Six Sigma:
DEMAIC Methodology:
This methodology has five steps.
Define: First define project goal or problem
Measure: Measure the process and problem

Example Of Systematic Literature Review
2.3.1 Systematic Literature Review
Systematic review can help researcher in accumulating knowledge from the range of studies. Systematic literature review can enhance methodological
rigor and also shows opportunities for further research. A systematic review addresses a specific question, utilizes explicit and transparent methods to
perform a through literature search and critical appraisal of individual studies from which we can conclude what presently we know and we do not
know ( Briner and Denyer, 2012 ).
Systematic reviews adopt replicable, scientific and transparent process, thus differ from traditional narrative reviews. This minimizes bias through
exhaustive literature searches
( Tranfield et al., 2003 ).

The Importance Of Human Rights
The topic of human rights has been a well–documented and deliberated subject throughout history. There are various conflicting views about human
rights, many of which have led to conflict's in the past. American philosopher Martha Nussbaum detailed her capabilities approach on the theory of
human rights in 2001 in "Capabilities as fundamental entitlements: Sen and Social Justice. Nussbaum's central human capabilities have since been used
in a wide variety of philosophy literature, notably in "Cosmopolitanism a philosophy for global ethics" by Stan Van Hooft. Nussbaum's capabilities
theory is centred around 10 major elements. This essay will critique and analyse Nussbaum's theory, and assess if Nussbaum's elements are of central
importance to understanding human rights. In my opinion, what is of central importance to human rights is fair values and equal opportunity. This
entails that every individual no matter what situation they are born into should have adequate access to resources to reach their full potential. This
includes and is not limited to race, gender, sexual orientation and religion. Society has recently started to take a stand against this violation of our
human rights and will hopefully continue to stamp out any negative behaviour hindering the potential of individuals in society. Throughout this essay
the capabilities that Nussbaum outlined will be individually evaluated on whether they are of central importance in understanding human rights and if
they follow within what I believe to be of central importance to understanding human rights. Nussbaum's ideologies of human rights stem from
Aristotle (Van Hooft, p. 73, 2014) who's theory is one of that human's need to be able to realise there potential by having access to opportunities
(Pakaluk, p.379, 2012). Nussbaum attempts to not label humans such as "biologists might" but through "self–expression" and how individuals come to
"deal with one another" (Van Hooft p.74). This is reflected throughout Nussbaum's list of capabilities as they aim to ensure that all individuals are
treated equally and fairly. This is shown in Nussbaum's first capability which is "Life". The first capability of Nussbaum's theory understandably is
very broad and

Differences Between Men And Women
Introduction
Communication style, as defined by the textbook, is the behaviors that are observable by others (Reece, 2014). Men and women have general
differences in communication style, whether in a formal or informal setting. Linguistic style, as defined by Deborah Tannen, refers to a person's
characteristic speaking pattern. Men tend to be more direct and dominating, whereas, women exhibit a more practical and indirect approach. Although
these conclusions are generalizations, research has proven that they are typical of the ordinary man and woman (Tannen, 1995).
Criticism
Criticism is a major issue that is unavoidable, but handled very differently by the opposing genders in the workplace. When a woman is in charge, she

The male directive approach may work well when dealing with other men, from both a manager and an employee's perspective, however, taking that
approach when dealing with a female counterpart will hinder them. The same goes for women, as mentioned in the example above. Their caring
approach will work well with other sensitive women, however, there will be miscommunication when applied to an issue with a male counterpart.
Conflict
Women seek compromise when conflicts arise, but they sometimes fail to stand their ground. They succumb to the dominating demeanor of men, who
use their natural mannerism to their advantage. This is an example of a hindrance to women, but an advantage to men. Men know that women work to
maintain a peaceful work environment and if backing down in a disagreement is what it takes, its often the road taken (Warren, 2017).
Strengths
Women tend to have the upper hand in situations where "listening skills, inclusive body language and empathy are more highly valued". They display
signs of genuine interest when others are speaking by nodding their heads, leaning in, and smiling because they expect reciprocated behavior (Goman,
2016). Women have the need to feel valued and appreciated for their efforts. They seek approval from their colleagues and managers. This is because
women exhibit characteristics of a people–oriented style. On the contrary, men "are thought to 'take charge' more readily and be viewed as more

The core objectives of SPC are to provide productivity and quality information about production processes in real–time. The principles of SPC take into
account the following: All processes have unique characteristics or hidden personalities that are inherent within them Data analysis provides in depth
understanding of process variations and identifies improvement opportunities Success in real–time SPC requires that measurement data be accurate,
and collected in a timely manner. Various gauging devices are used to ensure that a specific measurement is taken and recorded. SPC software
programs collect and store this data, analyzing it and creating graphs instantaneously. As a factory floor application, that can be extended up to
corporate offices and throughout the enterprise, SPC software delivers vital quality data upstream to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). By
integrating live production data into enterprise–wise systems, SPC plays a vital role in the business' continuous improvement strategy. SPC solutions
are designed to allow companies to plan and structure long–term strategies and bring short term quality improvements into view. The scope, detail and
accessibility of quality data helps manufacturing facilities avoid unscheduled downtime. Analyzing tool wear metrics gives quality departments the

Control Charts Essay
1 Introduction
A control chart was invented in the early of 1920's by Walter A. Shewart in the Bell Telephone Laboratories. In 1928 he was introduced the first
Statistical Process Control Charts in the Bell Laboratories to improve the quality of telephones manufactured, he was developed a simple graphical
method for the growing range of statistical process control charts (Montgomery,2010).
Quality of a product or services is defined as "its fitness for the use" for which it has been made. Many characteristics of a product determine the
quality. They are called quality characteristics. Some of the quality characteristics are shape, weight, size, diameter, strength, colour, hardness, surface
finish, reliability and appearance, etc.
In a manufacturing process, all the products will not be exactly a same. Quality will vary from piece to piece. That is, there will be variations in quality
characteristics of products. The causes for these variations are found out and analysed. Suitable corrective action is to be taken to minimise the
variations within certain limits. This is done to maintain the quality. Statisticalquality control charts techniques are used to improvement the quality
process in automobile parts manufacturing company.
Quality is a concept of several meanings, subjective and individual to the interpreter. When mentioning that something is of a certain quality, it is
assumed and associated to be good in some way. More generally, the definition of quality has

Capability Approach and Human Development Amartya Sen
Amartya Sen is an Indian scholar and Nobel Prize laureate in economics. He grew up and witnessed the great famine in India, when 2–3 million people
died. His life experiences as a child and teenager inspired his academic career. He developed the so–called capability approach, to offer an alternative

Sen mentions in several of his essays different fields, which include a more diverse selection of factors than the poverty evaluation. He states:
I have tried to explore the possibility of using the capability perspective for analysing other social issues, such as well–being and poverty (Sen, 1982a,
1983c, 1985b), liberty and freedom (Sen, 1983a, 1988a, 1992), living standards and development (Sen, 1983b, 1984, 1987b, 1988b), gender bias and
sexual divisions (Kynch and Sen, 1983; Sen, 1985c, 1990b), and justice and social ethics (Sen, 1982b, 1985a, 1990a). (Sen 1993)
One of the most significant impacts, the capability approach had, was on the creation of the human development index and the Millenium Development
Goals of United Nations.
Amartya Sen defined some basic capabilities, which can be found in the Human Development Index again. These basic capabilities give freedom to
basic things and are significant for the measurement of a poverty or deprivation threshold. (Robeyns 2000) But he decided not to provide a finite list
of basic capabilities, as a determination of those requires an individual assessment of the respective evaluation. (Robeyns 2000) p.

The Quality Of Life Of Sumner House
This research project explored the quality of life of Sumner House residents utilizing the capability approach and addressed these questions: what
opportunities residents have to live a life they truly value and how they perceive their quality of life at Sumner House. Based on six individual
interviews, this study identified a number of key capabilities for quality of life perceived by Sumner House residents including being healthy, receiving a
high quality of care, being safe, being independent and autonomous, having a social life, and conducting meaningful activities. The research findings
suggested that Sumner House provides residents with a range of opportunities to achieve lives they have reason to value, especially capabilities for
control over life and occupation. Overall, interviewees expressed positive comments about their quality of life.
Interpretation of findings
Some of the research findings further support those arguments about the quality of life for older adults in earlier studies. First of all, the value of
bodily health is evident from the research. All participants wish to keep as healthy as they can. Health condition is regarded to be linked to other
valued capabilities such as safety and independence. Therefore, Sumner House should continue to enhance residents' capability for health and delay the
decline. Secondly, in accordance with results of previous research, there is an evidence to show that residents can be taken care of well at Sumner

Creating Capabilities: The Human Development Approach by...
Under the Constitution, all human beings are subjected to be treated equally. We are granted equal rights in order to live as dignified human beings.
Although we strive to achieve equality for all, obvious inequality and discrimination still exist around the world. Same–sex marriage still remains to be
a problem around the world today and it is one of the many cases of inequalities that needs to be dealt with. Many countries and many states within the
United States still have policies prohibiting same sex marriage. Through her novel Creating Capabilities: The Human Development Approach, Martha
Nussbaum tied a strong correlation between sexual orientation and human capabilities. Nussbaum argued that discrimination based on sexual
orientation limits people's capabilities and permit the enforcement of inequality. Many states claim their power to prohibit same sex marriage under
their rights to exercise state power regarding to marriage. However, in doing so, states are failing to provide same sex couples with their constitutional
rights. Same sex marriage should be legalized and protected because denying same sex couples their rights to marriage would infringe on their basic
human rights to self–respect, privacy, and dignity. Amartya Sen, the pioneer of the capabilities approach, argued strongly through his book Identity and
Violence: The Illusion of Destiny that humans cannot be defined by a single identity. Sen stated that humans are complex beings and it is inaccurate and

Reflection Of Leadership And Leadership : My Approach To...
My approach to supervision is to lead by example and always with integrity first. I will constantly lead with the best interest of the San Mateo
County Sheriff's Office in mind. I would never want to bring discredit upon our agency, so I will stress to my subordinates the importance of doing
the right thing at all times. Leaders must be trustworthy and they must have values they adhere to. I intend to demonstrate through my actions to the
people I will supervise, the strong values and ethics I have lived by my entire life. I will show my team of subordinates that I am willing to do the same
I ask of them.
Some of the leadership skills that are most important to me and what have helped me lead throughout various areas of my life are, caring and
investing in the people I supervise. I'm always approachable and I take the time to get to know the people around me, their strengths, their weaknesses
and their attitudes. If you know your team as a leader, you will have the ability to motivate, challenge and stimulate your staff, which I believe makes
for a more functional environment and helps build morale within the workplace.
Another one of my strongpoints that I believe is crucial to being an effective leader is the ability to communicate. You have to be able to give clear,
concise orders to your team. They must know what is expected of them. Open and honest communication is essential to team success. As a leader, you
have to be willing to encourage feedback, listen to the suggestions of your subordinates, but at the same time be prepared to give orders and not ask
for input because we may be dealing with a critical situation. I understand that aspect and responsibility as a Sheriff's Sergeant, and I am fully prepared
for it.
Lastly, a leader must be able to make sound and timely decisions, and stand by his/her decisions with conviction. I possess the ability to rapidly
estimate a situation and make a sound decision when called upon. As a Sheriff's Sergeant, I know I will be faced with many critical decisions that
will not only have an effect on myself or my team, but the organization as a whole. Any hesitation on the part of these decisions I will be faced with,
can cause my subordinates to lose

1.0Introduction
What is Supply Chain Management (SCM)? Supply Chain Management is the synchronization of a firm's processes with those of its suppliers and
customers to match the flow of materials, services, and information with customer demand. To provide the highest degree of customer satisfaction at
the lowest possible cost is the flow in supply chain in management of material and information. The commitment of supply chain partners is important
and requires to work together to coordinate order generation, order taking, and order fulfillment in Supply Chain Management. To maximize customer

The Six Sigm An Approach For Business Improvement Keeping...
Six Sigma is an approach for Business Improvement keeping customer satisfaction as the primary goal and to find and eliminate variations in parts
based on the outputs obtained. Six Sigma is a strategic process. Implementation of Six Sigma effectively would ensure enhanced customer satisfaction
boosting sales and profit levels.
Six Sigma has two different focuses which includes Management and technical [1]. The Management focus deals with Project metrics, identifying
goals, approving/selecting projects and selecting the workforce on the project [1]. The technical focus primarily deals with minimizing the variation
and improving process performance. Six Sigma predominantly depends on the management team inorder to complete the assigned projects in timely
manner and to ascertain meeting specific objectives. The Business improvement involves five different stages. Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and
Control. Six Sigma gives at most importance to detailed results at the bottomline and predict the impact on the Business environment before the Project
is approved. The four significant aspects of Six Sigma are customer satisfaction, understanding of the Process, critical decision – making and Business
results. Six Sigma is advantageous for companies that rely on bottom–line results and minimizing the number of defects in the Production process. Six

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Six Sigma
Six Sigma.
Six Sigma is a highly disciplined process that helps us focuses on Problem solving and delivering near–perfect products and services. Why "Sigma"?
The word is a statistical term that measures how far a given process deviates from perfection. The central idea behind Six Sigma is that if you can
measure how many "defects" you have in a process, you can systematically figure out how to eliminate them and get as close to "zero defects" as
possible. The Six Sigma methodologies are a business philosophy and initiative that enables world–class quality and continuous improvement to
achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction. Metrics established that align an organisation's strategic goals and values to that of their customer's

The disadvantages of using Six Sigma:
It is expensive to implement. o Training expenses, Yellow, green and Black Belts.
While converting the theoretical concepts into practical applications there are lot to real time barriers which needs to be resolved.
Because Six Sigma is applied to all aspects of the production and planning process, it may create rigidity and bureaucracy that can create delays and
stifle creativity.
Customer focus may be taken to extremes, where internal quality–control measures that make sense for a company are not taken because of the
overlying goal of achieving the Six Sigma–stipulated level of consumer satisfaction. For example, an inexpensive measure that carries a risk of a
slightly higher defect rate may be rejected in favour of a more expensive measure that helps to achieve Six Sigma, but adversely affects

Risks And Risk Response Strategies
Having identified the risks and grouped them according to severity, the first trade–off the manager has to make is the decision to forego managing the
less severe risks and focus on those which pose the most severe threat to the project. More significant risk may include risks which require the entire
redesign of the project, whereas less severe risk may include those which cause little or no material changes to the project. Since the less severe risks
are likely to cause little or no material changes to the project and use less resources, it is reasonable to trade–off these risks in favour of managing the
more severe risks. On the other hand, these risks will remain and continue to pose a threat to the project, therefore they should be recorded in the
risk register and dealt with as secondary risks. Risk response strategies should then be implemented to deal with both the severe and less severe risks
which have been previously identified and analysed (Elkington & Smallman, 2002). Hillson (2009) identifies four possible risk response strategies:
avoidance; transfer; mitigation and acceptance. Risk avoidance involves completely eliminating the possibility of the risk. The simplest and most
common method of avoiding the risk is removing it from the project deliverable. Another common way of avoiding risks is designing around them.
Risk transfer involves giving the responsibility of the risk to someone or an organisation outside of the project. There are several ways

Cross contamination with unlabelled major allergens is prevented.
Records are made, manually or by instruments, during manufacture that demonstrate that all the steps required by the defined procedures and

Demand Planning: Forecasting and demand management
Demand Planning– the combined process of forecasting and managing customer demands to create a planned pattern of demand that meets the firm's
operational and financial goals. Fluctuating customer demand cause operational inefficiencies, such as: Need for extra capacity resources, backlog,
customer dissatisfaction, system buffering (safety stock, safety lead time, capacity cushions, etc.)

The Role and Nature of Power
Definition of Power
The role and nature of power is often contested in its definition and can be seen as a broad and generic term. Building blocks of 'Power' include factors
such as population, territory, wealth, political stability and competence, and military strength (armies and navies). , Military power will be used as the
constituent of 'power' for this essay.
There are two important categories of power within the International System. These are distinguished as Potential and Actual Power.
Potential Power
Based on population size and the level of wealth of a state. Population and wealth are the main components of military power.
Actual Power
This is based on the military forces that directly support a state.
The Modern International System
The Modern International System timeline is surrounded Conjecture and dispute. However for the purpose of this essay the systems timeline will be
composed of three occurrences. These are:
16th Century
The Global Economic System arose where the European International System expanded overseas. Expansion of Atlantic trade and Growth in economic
riches going tonto Europe
17th Century
Treaty of Westphalia after the 30 year war and the rise of severing modern states
19th Century
Development of a Global Full International system (modern international system) through Imperialism and American decolonization.

The Capability Approach By Amartya Sen

Regardless of whether individuals take up the alternatives they have, the fact that they do have valuable options is significant. For instance, regardless
of the possibility that the dietary condition of individuals who are fasting and starving is the same, the way that fasting is a choice ought to be
perceived. In this manner assessment must be sensitive to both genuine accomplishments and successful opportunity.
4.Evaluation of how well people are doing must seek to be as open–minded as possible. Each individual's reality is different and complicated and any
evaluation should portray this complexity into consideration. This leads to the deliberate 'under–theorization' of the Capability Approach that has been
the source of some criticism.
A critical part of Sen's argument for the Capability Approach identifies with his critique of alternative philosophical and economics accounts.
Specifically, he argues that, whatever their specific qualities, none of them give an examination of prosperity that is suitable as a general idea; they
are all centered on the wrong specific things (whether utility, freedom or essential merchandise). Sen's reactions of economic utilitarianism and John
Rawls' primary goods are especially vital in the development of his record and its

Lean And Six Sigma Origins Of Statistical Tools Essay
Lean and Six Sigma, both are different words or we can say two powerful methodology which changed the view of the manufacturer to the customer.
Lean Six Sigma pleased customer with manufacturers over the years by its implementation of various industries. Today, almost all industries have
adapted Lean Six Sigma methodology to make standard quality products. I personally feel proud and fortune as I am able to consume quality products
at present because of hard work of my past generation's Quality engineers, mathematics and statisticians. In the remembrance of these great minds I
would like to discuss about origins of Lean Six Sigma origins of statistical tools.
"Statistics" word came Latin "status" or state. Statistics firstly used by Romans to count or survey of a population including various details of
individuals so they could impose ore tax. John Graunt (1620–1674) first proposed statistical and census method in his "Natural and political
observations made upon the bills of Morality." His goal to analyze death records in London during bubonic plague. (1665–1666).
After John Graunt, many other mathematicians made contribution to the statistical studies, such as Johanm Gauss introduced normal distribution, Kal

Creative Writing: Rejection
Rejection. It's always hard to handle because it's basically the other person saying you aren't good enough. It always hurts and discourages the
next time round because you will always think will she say yes? Will she say no? Will I get this job? Will they accept my request? You avoid
asking people questions because there will always be that fear of rejection. But then there's the opposite of it, acceptance. What happens if they do
say yes, they tell you you've got the job or they tell you that the request was a good one? You never know until you ask and you always question
yourself of what you could have done better if you do get rejected. Do you take the leap of faith or just continue with the same old stuff? Who knows

Looking over at the cliff I know that I could but I shouldn't. It was so tempting to just end the embarrassment and pain of being rejected. I knew I
shouldn't but the rejection was truly horrible. The ground was just so far away. Would it just be easier to grab a gun and shoot myself? Yes it may

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Problem Solving
Various types of problems are evident. They have been classified as generic or specific for a task, well–structured to ill structured, diagnostic or
remedial. (De Mast and Lokkerbol, 2012). In order to ensure solved problems do not resurface, scientific methods of problem solving needs to be used.
Literature review suggest that scientific problem solving has been addressed by three schools of thought namely Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing/ Lean
Enterprise and World Class Manufacturing Practices. These theories have evolved over time with the empirical evidence and new knowledge uncovered.
2.1 Six Sigma

the end.
It is a subjective judgement, where a defect may be defined as anything which does not meet customer needs or expectations. The calculation of defect
rates for non–normal situations is yet to be addressed. The start–up cost for six sigma into a corporate culture (training, consulting, improvement
implementation; and software) can be asignificant investment (Karbasian et al., 2006).
Committed leadership of top management and fully fledged training are crucial to the success of Six Sigma implementation. Human resource functions
need good harmonization with Six Sigma approach(Tjahjono, B. et al., 2010).The right selection and prioritization of projects is also a critical success
factor(Antony, J., 2004).
Evolution of theoretical and empirical knowledge redefines the theme of Six–Sigma as a method of improving product and process quality by
understanding the relationships between the inputs and the metrics that define the quality

Responsibilities And Rights : The Capability Approach
Responsibilities & Rights: The Capability Approach
Individual rights are often viewed as inherent rights, but as our society makes ameliorations concerning individual rights, these collections of rights
become more likely to encounter opposition. Often, it is generally held that our responsibility to others' rights is simply to ensure we allow our own
expected rights to be the same for our fellow citizens. However, this is not sufficient; mainly because what we expect as our own personal rights often
contrast with others' particular beliefs, and subsequently their rights. Often these difference occur because of religious, political, social, and cultural
differences. There are continual claims to rights, and often many of these promulgations of rights are seemingly self–serving (Lloyd). However,
without these individual rights, not only would freedom be lost, but also would cultural diversity. Furthermore, social responsibilities ensure the
conservation of public health, the safeguard of public safety, among many others. For these reasons, individual and social responsibility must be
employed. There must exist the ability and flexibility to protect on an individual level, and a societal level.
Furthermore, when taking a phenomenological approach, personal responsibilities must be met before one can exercise their individual rights and
freedoms. According to Ballet, Dubois, and Mahieu, when taking a capability approach, one must understand that, "A capability is then the

Men Approaching Death

  • 1. Men Approaching Death "Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night" by Dylan Thomas describes how men feel when approaching death. The readers are encouraged to approach death with hesitation because you can offer a lot more to this world if you have the determination to live longer. Thomas use of literary devices emphasize this idea and gives examples of how men approach death. The poem begins with the speaker talking to an unknown listener and ends by telling us that the unknown listener is the speaker's father. The speaker describes the behaviors of various types of outstanding men and how they view their lives. Throughout the poem, the speaker encourages the reader to fight until their last dying breath. Thomas directly relates to this poem because it was written as he watched his father wither away. This poem symbolizes his father's determination to fight. The structure of the poem itself is a very important factor, as it describes the different views of men ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Darkness symbolizes death and how it is inevitable. Death is something that everyone will experience but that does not mean one should allow it to define them. People are should fight for as long as they can before they greet death and that is exactly what Thomas is trying to say in the second stanza. Thomas uses the experiences of the noble men in the third stanza to show that they were contempt with what they did with their life but acknowledge that there is still more time for them. The noble men are to "rage against the dying of the light" as they are on their last wave (9). They reminisce on their pasts together and become aware that although they are near their end they can still accomplish more in life. Moreover, they approach death with hesitation because they feel like they haven't done the most they can with their life. They fight against death to try and utilize the time they still have ... Evaluation Note – We find in the map a significant drain on finance to labor and resources, due to incorrect material, prolonged project time, causing further overhead and loss in profit. We redirected our investigation to further questions to the key players in the ordering and estimating of materials. This accounts for a majority of the devastating overhead and lost time of the stakeholders. Further note – a bottleneck with the supplier and unskilled workforce are also evident. The control chart below shows the process system in control and needing to change or the process would continue. The overage in hours is staggering, at $130,000 per year (being $2,500 per week) or 5,200 hours on an average. A further overage of materials and direct labor cost totaling $120,000 per year in incorrect materials, for a total of $250,000 combined in reduction of costs, increasing resources of the company and client satisfaction. After we brain stormed on Supplies, process activities, output activities, and customer feedback (SIPOC) and developed further strategy for decision–making. • 3. Nussbaum's 'Overlapping Consensus' Humans are notoriously fickle, stubborn beings. Because of this, it is difficult to categorize/measure every humans' viewpoint in one condensed set of capabilities. Nussbaum does an adequate job of making her list of capabilities broad, but a select number of them are not as applicable as others. While Nussbaum's list of core capabilities is decisively somewhat universally inclusive, I believe Nussbaum's list of capabilities in its entirety fails to captivate the sense of universalness that Rawls's "overlapping consensus" encompasses, and believe that it cannot be applied universally. While a number of Nussbaum's core capabilities potentially applies to enough people to consider it universal, others do not fit the bill quite as well, thus tainting the universalness of the entire bunch. The capabilities I believe to be the most universal are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in some countries, many adolescent children are given tattoo–like scars, a practice that many western countries might consider to be mutilation. Cultural differences like that begin to reveal the cracks in the supposed universalness of the core capabilities. Senses, imagination, and thought are a very important capability to me especially, because I believe in the right to express oneself in creative ways and be able to think about deeper concepts and communicate with others about their thoughts, an act which is related to the fifth capability. Furthermore, the concept of comprehensive education that can be easily accessed by all is extremely necessary, in my mind, and allows for our collective society to move forward in a way the benefits everyone. Emotions, is also an equally necessary capability that should be included. Emotional expression may not be an important capability to some, but I believe that it is extremely important, especially when it allows people to develop their minds emotionally as opposed to just intellectually. Systematic literature review can enhance methodological rigor and also shows opportunities for further research. A systematic review addresses a specific question, utilizes explicit and transparent methods to perform a through literature search and critical appraisal of individual studies from which we can conclude what presently we know and we do not know ( Briner and Denyer, 2012 ). • 7. The Importance Of Human Rights The topic of human rights has been a well–documented and deliberated subject throughout history. There are various conflicting views about human rights, many of which have led to conflict's in the past. American philosopher Martha Nussbaum detailed her capabilities approach on the theory of human rights in 2001 in "Capabilities as fundamental entitlements: Sen and Social Justice. Nussbaum's central human capabilities have since been used in a wide variety of philosophy literature, notably in "Cosmopolitanism a philosophy for global ethics" by Stan Van Hooft. Nussbaum's capabilities theory is centred around 10 major elements. This essay will critique and analyse Nussbaum's theory, and assess if Nussbaum's elements are of central importance to understanding human rights. In my opinion, what is of central importance to human rights is fair values and equal opportunity. This entails that every individual no matter what situation they are born into should have adequate access to resources to reach their full potential. This includes and is not limited to race, gender, sexual orientation and religion. Society has recently started to take a stand against this violation of our human rights and will hopefully continue to stamp out any negative behaviour hindering the potential of individuals in society. Throughout this essay the capabilities that Nussbaum outlined will be individually evaluated on whether they are of central importance in understanding human rights and if they follow within what I believe to be of central importance to understanding human rights. Nussbaum's ideologies of human rights stem from Aristotle (Van Hooft, p. 73, 2014) who's theory is one of that human's need to be able to realise there potential by having access to opportunities (Pakaluk, p.379, 2012). Nussbaum attempts to not label humans such as "biologists might" but through "self–expression" and how individuals come to "deal with one another" (Van Hooft p.74). This is reflected throughout Nussbaum's list of capabilities as they aim to ensure that all individuals are treated equally and fairly. This is shown in Nussbaum's first capability which is "Life". The first capability of Nussbaum's theory understandably is very broad and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Differences Between Men And Women Introduction Communication style, as defined by the textbook, is the behaviors that are observable by others (Reece, 2014). Men and women have general differences in communication style, whether in a formal or informal setting. Linguistic style, as defined by Deborah Tannen, refers to a person's characteristic speaking pattern. Men tend to be more direct and dominating, whereas, women exhibit a more practical and indirect approach. Although these conclusions are generalizations, research has proven that they are typical of the ordinary man and woman (Tannen, 1995). The same goes for women, as mentioned in the example above. Their caring approach will work well with other sensitive women, however, there will be miscommunication when applied to an issue with a male counterpart. Conflict Women seek compromise when conflicts arise, but they sometimes fail to stand their ground. They succumb to the dominating demeanor of men, who use their natural mannerism to their advantage. This is an example of a hindrance to women, but an advantage to men. Men know that women work to maintain a peaceful work environment and if backing down in a disagreement is what it takes, its often the road taken (Warren, 2017). Strengths Women tend to have the upper hand in situations where "listening skills, inclusive body language and empathy are more highly valued". They display signs of genuine interest when others are speaking by nodding their heads, leaning in, and smiling because they expect reciprocated behavior (Goman, 2016). Women have the need to feel valued and appreciated for their efforts. They seek approval from their colleagues and managers. This is because women exhibit characteristics of a people–oriented style. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The core objectives of SPC are to provide productivity and quality information about production processes in real–time. The principles of SPC take into account the following: All processes have unique characteristics or hidden personalities that are inherent within them Data analysis provides in depth understanding of process variations and identifies improvement opportunities Success in real–time SPC requires that measurement data be accurate, and collected in a timely manner. Various gauging devices are used to ensure that a specific measurement is taken and recorded. SPC software programs collect and store this data, analyzing it and creating graphs instantaneously. As a factory floor application, that can be extended up to corporate offices and throughout the enterprise, SPC software delivers vital quality data upstream to Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). By integrating live production data into enterprise–wise systems, SPC plays a vital role in the business' continuous improvement strategy. SPC solutions are designed to allow companies to plan and structure long–term strategies and bring short term quality improvements into view. The scope, detail and accessibility of quality data helps manufacturing facilities avoid unscheduled downtime. The first process examined uses the Lablond Lathe machinery and requires a machined diameter of 7.7250, plus tight tolerances of + .0005 inches. A Process Capability Ratio (Cpk) analysis of the lathe's data, results in a Cpk of .379 (exhibit A). A result of less than one indicates the machine is not capable of matching the tolerances laid out in the IMS spec. In 1928 he was introduced the first Statistical Process Control Charts in the Bell Laboratories to improve the quality of telephones manufactured, he was developed a simple graphical method for the growing range of statistical process control charts (Montgomery,2010). Quality of a product or services is defined as "its fitness for the use" for which it has been made. Many characteristics of a product determine the quality. They are called quality characteristics. Some of the quality characteristics are shape, weight, size, diameter, strength, colour, hardness, surface finish, reliability and appearance, etc. In a manufacturing process, all the products will not be exactly a same. Quality will vary from piece to piece. That is, there will be variations in quality characteristics of products. The causes for these variations are found out and analysed. Suitable corrective action is to be taken to minimise the variations within certain limits. This is done to maintain the quality. Statisticalquality control charts techniques are used to improvement the quality process in automobile parts manufacturing company. Quality is a concept of several meanings, subjective and individual to the interpreter. When mentioning that something is of a certain quality, it is assumed and associated to be good in some way. Based on six individual interviews, this study identified a number of key capabilities for quality of life perceived by Sumner House residents including being healthy, receiving a high quality of care, being safe, being independent and autonomous, having a social life, and conducting meaningful activities. The research findings suggested that Sumner House provides residents with a range of opportunities to achieve lives they have reason to value, especially capabilities for control over life and occupation. Overall, interviewees expressed positive comments about their quality of life. Interpretation of findings Some of the research findings further support those arguments about the quality of life for older adults in earlier studies. First of all, the value of bodily health is evident from the research. All participants wish to keep as healthy as they can. Health condition is regarded to be linked to other valued capabilities such as safety and independence. Therefore, Sumner House should continue to enhance residents' capability for health and delay the decline. We are granted equal rights in order to live as dignified human beings. Although we strive to achieve equality for all, obvious inequality and discrimination still exist around the world. Same–sex marriage still remains to be a problem around the world today and it is one of the many cases of inequalities that needs to be dealt with. Many countries and many states within the United States still have policies prohibiting same sex marriage. Through her novel Creating Capabilities: The Human Development Approach, Martha Nussbaum tied a strong correlation between sexual orientation and human capabilities. Nussbaum argued that discrimination based on sexual orientation limits people's capabilities and permit the enforcement of inequality. Many states claim their power to prohibit same sex marriage under their rights to exercise state power regarding to marriage. However, in doing so, states are failing to provide same sex couples with their constitutional rights. Same sex marriage should be legalized and protected because denying same sex couples their rights to marriage would infringe on their basic human rights to self–respect, privacy, and dignity. If you know your team as a leader, you will have the ability to motivate, challenge and stimulate your staff, which I believe makes for a more functional environment and helps build morale within the workplace. Another one of my strongpoints that I believe is crucial to being an effective leader is the ability to communicate. You have to be able to give clear, concise orders to your team. • 24. Risks And Risk Response Strategies Having identified the risks and grouped them according to severity, the first trade–off the manager has to make is the decision to forego managing the less severe risks and focus on those which pose the most severe threat to the project. More significant risk may include risks which require the entire redesign of the project, whereas less severe risk may include those which cause little or no material changes to the project. Since the less severe risks are likely to cause little or no material changes to the project and use less resources, it is reasonable to trade–off these risks in favour of managing the more severe risks. On the other hand, these risks will remain and continue to pose a threat to the project, therefore they should be recorded in the risk register and dealt with as secondary risks. Risk response strategies should then be implemented to deal with both the severe and less severe risks which have been previously identified and analysed (Elkington & Smallman, 2002). Hillson (2009) identifies four possible risk response strategies: avoidance; transfer; mitigation and acceptance. Risk avoidance involves completely eliminating the possibility of the risk. Specifically, he argues that, whatever their specific qualities, none of them give an examination of prosperity that is suitable as a general idea; they are all centered on the wrong specific things (whether utility, freedom or essential merchandise). Sen's reactions of economic utilitarianism and John Rawls' primary goods are especially vital in the development of his record and its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Lean And Six Sigma Origins Of Statistical Tools Essay Lean and Six Sigma, both are different words or we can say two powerful methodology which changed the view of the manufacturer to the customer. Lean Six Sigma pleased customer with manufacturers over the years by its implementation of various industries. Today, almost all industries have adapted Lean Six Sigma methodology to make standard quality products. I personally feel proud and fortune as I am able to consume quality products at present because of hard work of my past generation's Quality engineers, mathematics and statisticians. In the remembrance of these great minds I would like to discuss about origins of Lean Six Sigma origins of statistical tools. "Statistics" word came Latin "status" or state. Statistics firstly used by Romans to count or survey of a population including various details of individuals so they could impose ore tax. John Graunt (1620–1674) first proposed statistical and census method in his "Natural and political observations made upon the bills of Morality." His goal to analyze death records in London during bubonic plague. (1665–1666). After John Graunt, many other mathematicians made contribution to the statistical studies, such as Johanm Gauss introduced normal distribution, Kal person developed standard deviation, correlation coeff, P–value Person's chi–square test, principal component Analysis concepts, and Ronald Alymer Fisher became popular for F distribution Walter Shewhart gave control charting statistical process control. In the past, strategy was associated mainly with the military sector, the top chiefs of command were making tactical choices in order to defeat their rivals and achieve victory. In the business sector the purpose of strategy is in principle the same, planning and building a road or path that will lead us to where ever it is we want to be in the future and to overcome all obstacles that might lay on the way. However, there is a difference between those two sectors, soldiers need only to follow orders without seeing or understanding the big picture, while in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That's mean, looking and analyzing competitors who manage to achieve success (or failure), compared with the current status of the organization, will produce information that can help the organization to learn to evolve and develop. This information, for example, can indicate industry trends – does a certain product or service contain potential or not, what does other do well that we don't. • 35. Creative Writing: Rejection Rejection. It's always hard to handle because it's basically the other person saying you aren't good enough. It always hurts and discourages the next time round because you will always think will she say yes? Will she say no? Will I get this job? Will they accept my request? You avoid asking people questions because there will always be that fear of rejection. But then there's the opposite of it, acceptance. What happens if they do say yes, they tell you you've got the job or they tell you that the request was a good one? You never know until you ask and you always question yourself of what you could have done better if you do get rejected. Do you take the leap of faith or just continue with the same old stuff? According to "The Capabilities Approach and Violence Against Women" by Loretta Pyles (2008), the primary goal to social development is to increase income or material wealth in order to end poverty and equality of opportunity is what matters most for well–being. Poor and low–income individuals are at risk because they do not have money and lack certain freedoms and capabilities. Additionally, poor and impoverished women who are victims of physical and sexual abuse have less freedom and accesses to resources. Moreover, Pyles (2008) explains that, "Violence against women affects the ability of women to achieve full functioning in the world." • 37. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Problem Solving Various types of problems are evident. They have been classified as generic or specific for a task, well–structured to ill structured, diagnostic or remedial. (De Mast and Lokkerbol, 2012). In order to ensure solved problems do not resurface, scientific methods of problem solving needs to be used. Literature review suggest that scientific problem solving has been addressed by three schools of thought namely Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing/ Lean Enterprise and World Class Manufacturing Practices. These theories have evolved over time with the empirical evidence and new knowledge uncovered. 2.1 Six Sigma The origin of six sigma comes from statistics and statisticians. The challenge of having quality data available, and solutions driven by the data are expensive and only a small part of the solution is implemented at the end. It is a subjective judgement, where a defect may be defined as anything which does not meet customer needs or expectations. The calculation of defect rates for non–normal situations is yet to be addressed. The start–up cost for six sigma into a corporate culture (training, consulting, improvement implementation; and software) can be asignificant investment (Karbasian et al., 2006). Committed leadership of top management and fully fledged training are crucial to the success of Six Sigma implementation. Human resource functions need good harmonization with Six Sigma approach(Tjahjono, B. et al., 2010).The right selection and prioritization of projects is also a critical success factor(Antony, J., 2004). In the article by Ellen Goodman called "The Company Man" the main character, Phil, does exactly this. Every day of his life Phil worked endless hours causing him to be isolated from his loved ones until it eventually caught up with him. Ellen Goodman uses this situation to criticize the idea of committing your life to a company. Due to Phil committing his whole to his company he was long missed before he was actually gone. Furthermore, not only was Phil disconnected, Phil's work habits are what ultimately led him to his death. All he did was work never having time for himself or his family, "He worked six days a week, five of them until eight or nine at night..."(par.4). This is done so that it is possible to eliminate the special causes and to establish and maintain consistency in the process, allowing the process to be improved. A Process refers to everything that is done in a workplace. Multiple factors affect these processes and they are usually refered to as the Five M's. The Five M's are, the Machines employed, Materials used, the Methods(manuals for labour) provided, the Measurements taken, and the Manpower(workers) who operate the process. • 43. Responsibilities And Rights : The Capability Approach Responsibilities & Rights: The Capability Approach Individual rights are often viewed as inherent rights, but as our society makes ameliorations concerning individual rights, these collections of rights become more likely to encounter opposition. Often, it is generally held that our responsibility to others' rights is simply to ensure we allow our own expected rights to be the same for our fellow citizens. However, this is not sufficient; mainly because what we expect as our own personal rights often contrast with others' particular beliefs, and subsequently their rights. Often these difference occur because of religious, political, social, and cultural differences. There are continual claims to rights, and often many of these promulgations of rights are seemingly self–serving (Lloyd). However, without these individual rights, not only would freedom be lost, but also would cultural diversity. Furthermore, social responsibilities ensure the conservation of public health, the safeguard of public safety, among many others. For these reasons, individual and social responsibility must be employed. There must exist the ability and flexibility to protect on an individual level, and a societal level. Furthermore, when taking a phenomenological approach, personal responsibilities must be met before one can exercise their individual rights and freedoms. According to Ballet, Dubois, and Mahieu, when taking a capability approach, one must understand that, "A capability is then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
