was founded by William Randolph Hearst.The publishing
company began with the first issue of good housekeeping in
1922.The CEO of Hearst corporations is Steven R. Swartz, he
has been in this position since June 1 2013.Anna Jones is the
chief executive officer of the sub magazine publishers, since
2014.
Hearst has 25 magazines ranging from ELLE to House Beautiful
in the UK, however worldwide it has over 300 publications.This
magazine doesn't do music specific magazines however some
of their online magazines such as Surgarscape are largely varied
in the content that is offered, therefore making them lifestyle
magazines, all of which do cover music and up and coming
artists.The audience for most Hearst publications are women's
magazines as there are lifestyle based.
They have dropped by 32 percent of the market that they own
however it is still one of the top 5 magazine publishers.As
previously mentioned Hearst publications is part of Hearst
corporations which consists of many sub divisions includingTV
and newspaper.As well as this Hearst magazines has joint
ventures, Hearst Rodale and Commag (which is a joint
publication between Hearst and Conde Nast.
3. IPC MEDIA
This publishing company has now been renamed
Time inc. U.K.- it was founded in 1968 and the
CEO of the company is now Joseph A. Ripp.The
owner of the company isTime Warner.
They publish over 90 magazines, ranging from
country lifestyle to sport to fashion. Included in
this list is popular music magazine NME as well as
Uncut, a Rock music magazine.
They host over 400 events a year such asTime
100 and Sports illustrated sportsman of the year.
As well as this they have over 50 websites and a
social footprint of 146 million.They have a very
large audience of people of all ages and gender
with many different interests however they have a
larger digital audience that print audience since
2014, showing how multi media platforms are very
important.
4. BAUER MEDIA
This publishing company is largely based on music
magazines including Q and Kerrang, a variety of music
genres are advertised by this company suggesting it is
a good platform for all music magazines.
As well as music magazines, a subsidiary to this
company is a lot of box television music channels, for
example 4music and smash hits, Kerrang also has a
channel; showing a range of media platforms for
individual magazines as well as the company as a
whole.
It is a European media group with over 600
magazines, over 400 digital products and 50 radio
and tv channels.The CEO of the company is Paul
Keenan, however it's under management byYvonne
Bauer.
