Landscaping Trees
Best Trees for Landscaping Blog – GNR––
Meta Description: Beautiful, healthy and well kempt trees can greatly enhance the look of your
landscape and give your home the ambiance it deserves. Great Northern Greenery are experts in
trees and landscaping.
Benefits of Tree
Trees are very critical in landscaping as they form the foundation of any landscaping work. You can
plant trees in your yard to provide privacy, shade and enhance the look and feel of your yard. Trees
are also useful in slowing climate change and providing habitat for wildlife. When selecting the
right tree for your yard, you need consider factors such as maturity size and number of seasons it
take for the tree reproduce. Keeping trees healthy is critical but highly challenging. A good tree must
endure extreme weather conditions, neglectful care, environmental toxins and disease and insect
attacks. It is also important to recognize that slow maturing trees tend to live longer and stronger.

Nandina Research Paper
Nandina (Nandina domestica) is also known as heavenly bamboo, although it has no relation to the
bamboo plant. It takes the nickname from the fact that its foliage bears an uncanny resemblance to
that of bamboo plants. Found in United States Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 6
through 9, nandina is a woody shrub with year–round interest. It bears flowers in the spring and
berries in the fall when its foliage turns red, gold and orange. In warmer climates it is evergreen.
One of the most important aspects of nandina care is annual pruning. Time Frame Nandina produces
flowers in late spring or summer, which make way for green berries. These ripen to a striking red
color in autumn and remain on the plant throughout fall and sometimes through winter. While spring
pruning is appropriate for many shrubs, if you prune the nandina too late in the spring, you run the
risk of not having berries the following season. The ideal time to prune is in late winter or early
spring. Tools ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two types of tools are used to prune the nandina. Use bypass pruning shears to cut branches and
shoots that measure 3/4 inches in diameter and smaller. Bypass pruners, while more expensive than
anvil–type pruners, make a cleaner cut. For growth measuring up to 1 3/4 inches in diameter use
lopping shears. Always disinfect your pruning tools by wiping them down with alcohol before using
them. Failure to do so may spread plant diseases. Strategy When you prune the nandina, you set the
stage for the following season's growth. Prune one–third of the stems, spaced randomly around the
nandina, to the soil. Prune another one–third of the stems down to one–half the shrub's height. Allow
the final third of the stems to remain unpruned. This staggered effect will show off next season's
flowers and

A Man Without Moustache Essay
Introduction
From ancient China, there is an old saying that a man without moustache is bound to make slips.
This means that young people cannot be trusted with important tasks because they are lacking in
experience. Actually, it is not simply about the experience but the significant physical changes
occurring in and sculpturing the brain that lead us from being childish to maturity. From infants to
mature adults, three major changes are identified to be necessary for the brain to become well–
developed and functioning: pruning, myelination, and delegation.
Pruning
Pruning, known as synaptic pruning, is a physiological process in which unnecessary and rarely
used neuronal connections wither and are pruned, or eliminated, by the brain (McAuliffe 2007, p.
313). Neuronal pathways that are heavily used are valued more by the brain so that they can survive
from the pruning process (McAuliffe 2007, p. 314). The pruning can also help to save resources to
support the growth of neuronal connections with more activeness (McAuliffe 2007, p. 313). The
whole process is based on the brain's fundamental mechanism for efficiency and maturation
(Sabbage 2006, p.27). The brain pruning begins from gestational age (around 20 weeks), surges
after birth, and continues till the period of adolescence (Khundrakpam et al. 2016, p.193).
In the infancy and childhood, when the brain is able to make new and useful connections for where
needed, the pruning process takes place and speeds up. As a

Essay on The Importance of Early Childhood Cognitive...
The Importance of Early Childhood Cognitive Development
America has many programs for graduating students that are involved with education and children.
While any college student can appreciate education, I suspect that few understand the importance of
early childhood development. Having committed to apply for a position in Teach for America, I
want to better understand why it is so important to "get 'em while they're young."
In 2001, the US Department of Education, Academy of the Sciences, and the Foundation for Child
Development conducted a study on early childhood development. Several interesting, scientific
ideas and trends on childhood development emerged from the study. The questions surrounding this
research were: how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At first this growth is uninhibited. However, as the infant reaches toddler age, the brain begins to
eliminate some synapses between neurons in order to help the brain transmit information more
efficiently. The synapses and neurons that were activated most during growth are the ones that will
be preserved. This process helps to create a brain better equipped to absorb knowledge. (1) To
optimize synaptic pruning, some studies show that "a specific learning process" may help the brain
form itself into a more useful tool. (2)
The Eagar to Learn study found five criteria that are based on neuroplasticity. The first, attention,
stresses the need to hone the development of this skill during the first five years of life– the years
with the most rapid brain growth. Second, priming, or the acquisition of knowledge through sight
and sound, may reshape the synapses of the brain based on stimulus. Practice, the fourth criterion,
also uses neuroplasticity to absorb knowledge into the brain. The fourth and fifth criteria are related
to language. Learning and rule learning both demonstrate that the sooner these elements of
education are specified and controlled, the more likely the brain will have a better synaptic pruning
process. In other words, the more weak synapses will be eliminated. Eagar to Learn reports that
once English orthography, a component of rule learning, is set in the brain, the brain may become
"strongly resistant to change."

Synapse Pruning
Introduction Schizophrenia is not unheard of; there have been many groups that raised the
awareness for the disease and institutions that set up clinical trials for people with schizophrenia.
Many individuals are affected by it, and they had lived a compromised life. This mental disorder
continues to make patients suffer, along with their family and friends. Despite the relevance of this
mental disorder in our society, many people have little or no knowledge of it or have many
misconceptions about the disorder. As such, this disease will be the topic of interest in this paper.
This paper will take into light a recent study regarding schizophrenia that had successfully provided
hope that this mental disorder will be cured in the future. The ... Show more content on

It had been long suspected that pruning in the synapses has something to do with schizophrenia and
the research had finally confirmed this. Aside from supporting this claim, this research had also
shown the mechanism by which the synapse pruning becomes irregular. The study had also
identified the genes responsible for this which may likewise allow modifications on the right locus.
This study had also successfully explained why schizophrenia manifest itself when adolescent
onsets–it is also the time when synapse pruning is extensively done (Carey, 2016) Moreover, many
had made it clear that this study is not a victory. This does not mean that a cure will be developed
soon, it only means that there is something that people involved with the study of schizophrenia will
have something to work on which would eventually lead to a clearer understanding of the mental
disorder (Carey, 2016).
Conclusion
The study had linked the C4 gene variants and the proteins it produces (C4A and C4B) to have a
major role in the development of schizophrenia. Irregularities in C4A cause irregularities in the
synapse pruning that causes a thinner grey matter evident in people with schizophrenia. As such, the
study had laid the foundations for the future development of drugs that could cure schizophrenia by
providing the direction by which future research should go

Levels Of Pruning And Position
The average of 'mean no. of bunch primordial per node' gives the average bunch per bud 1 & 2. This
is later used to calculate the appropriate shoots per vine to be left after pruning to achieve the
desired yield. 72 shoots per vine are left after pruning this year considering the average fruitfulness
for node 1 and 2 is 0.9. In comparison, 65 shoots per vine were left after pruning in the previous
year considering the average fruitfulness for node 1 and 2, is 1. With less fruitfulness node in this
year, light pruning level may be use to still achieve the desired yield. Compound buds develop in the

Shade and high shoot vigour: for Shiraz this cultivar, it generally has longer shoots, vigour shoot
growth and extensive lateral growth, which brings up a shading problem (Collins 2005). Without
proper canopy management, it would lead to high PBN and less fruitfulness. It also indicates that
thicker shoots tend to have higher level of PBN, Dry stated that thicker shoots (>12 mm) had up to
40% more PBN than thinner shoots (<12 mm) in 1998. High gibberellic acid level: the timing of
when high gibberellic acid level appears is crucial. When high level of gibberellic acid appears
before flowering, the incident of PBN increases. However when high level of gibberellic acid
appears after flowering, there is no correlation between PBN and gibberellic acid level. For
vigorously growing cultivar Shiraz, large amount of gibberellic acid shifts to buds causes excessive
cell elongation. This would kill primary buds due to the out of balanced hormones (Collins 2005).
Nevertheless, 40% of primary bud necrosis is still a relatively high number. This is because the
percentage of PBN varies greatly from different grape varieties and maybe the pruning level. As
spur–pruned Shiraz, it tends to have the highest possibility of PBN in Australian viticulture region
(Dry, 1986). In this year, a light pruning method is used because of low fruitfulness. Light pruning

Understanding the Brain: Synaptic Pruning Essay example
Synaptic Pruning Synaptic pruning, or synaptic elimination, is an essential aspect of the
development of the brain; when the brain destroys itself, removing unwanted synapses, neurons or
neuronal configurations to increase efficiency of connections. The process and timing of pruning is
thought to be significantly changed by the experiences, genes, and even the thoughts of the
developing mind. There are a variety of theories as to the true nature of pruning. During early
childhood, there is a huge proliferation of connections between neurons, usually peaking around the
age of two. The adolescent brain then cuts down the amount of connections, deciding which ones
are important to keep and which can be let go. While there are various ... Show more content on

Some neuroscientists have made educated guesses as to the nature of this deletion, and there has
been relative consensus that microglia, being part of the immune system, remove the synapses
because they appear to be either unnecessary or damaged. This abnormal synaptic pruning could be
a significant source of the symptoms of schizophrenia. If this mutation is genetic, then perhaps it
could be corrected by sophisticated forms of genetic engineering. Loose associations have also been
found between the genes that influence synaptic pruning and those that influence autism and
Aspergers disorder. Pruning is also highly dependent on experience [4]. Neural plasticity reaches its
peak during childhood and before synaptic pruning begins. Thus, if a child begins to learn a
language or any other complex function before synaptic pruning, that function will be deemed
important and the neural connections pertaining to it will be kept and strengthened. This gives new
meaning to the saying "use it or lose it." Experiences during and before synaptic pruning are perhaps
some of the most important in development, because they directly affect brain function for the rest
of the subject's life. It is thought that connections deleted during pruning cannot be regained. "The
fact that there are more connections [in a child's brain] allows things to be moved around," said
physiologist Ian Campbell from the

Childhood Trauma And Its Effects On Brain Development
The purpose of this paper is to conduct library research on early childhood trauma and its effects on
brain development. This paper will discuss the consequences of early childhood trauma, specifically
the manner in which it impacts brain development. Included will be a discussion of What tends to
happen to people who experience early childhood trauma. Within the paper will be a description of
the consequences of this type of trauma for the urban individual, family, community, or culture. This
paper will then identify two of the most effective, evidenced based practice treatment models
utilized for survivors of this form of trauma. Case Analysis Trauma is an individual's visceral
reaction to a horrible event, events such as early childhood traumas, accidents, sexual abuse, or
community violence (apa.org, 2016). An individual may react with shock and denial in the
aftermath. As time continues some reactions may comprise of mood swings, intrusive memories,
difficulties maintaining relationships and can manifest into physical symptoms to include headache
or upset stomach. There are individuals who experience difficulties functioning in their daily lives;
these observable responses are a normal response to the trauma (apa.org, 2016). Early childhood
trauma generally addresses the distressing experiences that happen to the zero to six–age population.
These traumatic events can be the same as those of adult individuals, such as the ones mentioned
above (nctsn.org). (Stiles &

This has the added benefit of enabling you to control the shape of the tree, ensuring that your
property looks exactly the way you want it to. Flowering and fruit–bearing trees also benefit from
trimming and pruning – the selective removal of branches makes room for larger flowers and fruits,
and even encourages healthier growth in the future.
To keep your grass in good health all winter, it is important to keep the lawn clear of plant debris.
The weight of this debris, as well as organic compounds released as the debris breaks down, can
inhibit your grass's ability to grow properly. A thick cover of debris can also prevent the rain from
being absorbed by the soil, which in turn prevents the grass's root system from using that moisture
for nutrition.
Hiring Pacific Ohana Masonry & Landscaping to maintain your trees and landscaping during the
winter not only saves you time, it keeps you safe. Tree maintenance can be dangerous work, and
should only be performed by experienced licensed and insured professionals.

Embarrassment And Brain Pruning
The brain, one of the most vital parts of the body, does many things to help in people's daily life. It
helps to interpret information and controls everything that happens in the body, even while sleeping.
However, it can cause many effects on a person's attitude and mood and can cause the threat–
detection system to react. In society, the teens and kids don't always have to fit in or be in a big
group, but still have the fear of getting rejected, making each one's self–esteem lower. This activity
is known as embarrassment. Teens and kids throughout the world get it every day between school,
social media, and even just in the middle of the public. Embarrassment is caused when seeing the
world changes in teens brains as the hormones power up. From the day kids start learning things all
the way up until they die, brain pruning occurs. That happens when the kids, teens, and adults use
some of the information originally learned as a baby or very young kid, and it gets lost and put away
until starting to use the information again. The two major differences between embarrassment and
brain pruning is the effects they leave on people and what the process is in both. One major
difference between the two is that embarrassment can leave a negative effect as to where brain
pruning can leave a positive effect. To begin, embarrassment has been known to leave a negative
effect as many teens start to get older and start to feel more physical pain because of their brains

Poem Analysis Of Pruning By Jim C. Wilson
"Pruning", a poem by Jim C. Wilson is a short but meaningful poem about a gardener cutting away
weeds and dead leaves. The author Jim C. Wilson uses this poem to share his thoughts to the world.
He uses this poem to explain the concept of death. Jim C. Wilson wrote this person because of his
personal experiences as a child and adult. The concept of this poem applies to all people, as every
person will eventually die. Therefore, this poem aims to prove that even though death is inevitable,
happiness is earned by helping others. The speaker of this poem is a gardener, most likely the author
himself. Wilson uses figurative language to explain why death brings happiness to life
The author uses symbolism to communicate his own mortality. While the gardener cuts his plants he
thinks about his own failures. Wilson writes, "No sharp shears will make me sprout, or slow my
geriatric trend."(11–12). The gardener of this story uses secateurs to cut his plants. If the plants were
left by themselves, they would not be able to flourish. Therefore the shears in this portion symbolize
outside help, as the plants would not be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the poem the gardener grooms his plays. They state: "I dock the dead, the damaged, and
diseased... I stand knee–deep in bits, well–pleased I've put a few squares of world to rights" (1–4)
and "So wrinkling, stiffening, stooping, short of breath, I spend my weekends saving plants from
death." (13–14). Most people associate destruction with death, damage, and disease; while
wrinkling, stiffening, stooping, and being short of breath are all solid signs of old age. Although the
gardener is steadily growing older, and they can't help themselves, they get satisfaction from helping
their plants grow and overcome death. Even though it requires constant labour, the satisfaction from
saving the plants keep the gardener in high spirits every

Espalier Training
Espalier is the art of training a tree or shrub to grow so that its trunk and branches grow flat against
a support, such a trellis, fence or wall. Fruit trees, such as apples, pears and figs are often grown in
this fashion, as are ornamental tree and shrubs.
Espalier training is idea for homeowners who have limited space, or as a method of marking
boundary lines. Success with espalier pruning and training depends greatly on the care of the tree
and providing the proper support.
Choosing Trees
Those new to espalier can benefit from buying trees with a framework of branches already shaped
and formed by professionals. If you wish to espalier fruit trees, always choose those grown on
dwarfing root stock. Dwarf root stock fruit trees only grow up to 10 feet tall, making them well–
suited to espalier training. Ornamental trees and shrubs worth growing as espalier include forsythias,
magnolia grandiflora, yews, viburnums, and jasminums. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While many forms exist, beginners may want to start out simple with a horizontal or candelabra
form. Plant trees 6 to 10 inches from the support, and choose two strong branches to begin shaping;
cut off all other shoots and cut the main branch, or leader, to just above the bottom wire.
It can take up to four years of training and pruning to create a good looking design. During the
growing season, gradually tighten ties so that the branches are drawn horizontally against the fence.
At this time the leader sprouts; when the new sprout is long enough, tie it to the second wire.
During the dormant season, prune back the leader to the second wire, and choose two strong
branches to create the second tier, removing any competing shoots. As the tree grows, you will
repeat this process for each tier, keeping the leader upright and attached to a wire as it grows. When
the leader reaches the top of the support, cut it back to just about the top branch.

Over Arousal Theory
Although over–arousal theories stem from very early research, they are still an active component in
the clinical conceptualizations of sensory dysregulation in ASD's today (Greenspan et al., 1997).
Over–arousal theories can help understand the avoidance of novelty food and the stereotypical
behaviour that can be seen in ASD. They also provide a connection between sensory deficits and
RRB symtpoms, both of which appear to play a role in food selectivity.
Research has found that impairments in functioning associated with the medial temporal lobes and
the limbic system may explain some of the deficits characterizing ASD (Joseph, 1999).
Hippocampal abnormalities have been suggested to exert influence on sensory sensitivity in those
with ASD. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lack of synaptic pruning during childhood is considered as a contribution to sensory deficits
(Ferguson, 2014). Synaptic pruning is important in brain development and a lack of pruning can
result in over–connectedness of synapses, resulting in over–sensitivity. Tang et al. (2014) compared
the density of synapses in young children who were autistic and not autistic. Little difference was
observed between the groups. However, when comparing adolescents, researchers found those
without autism had around 41% fewer synapses than the infants, compared to the group with autism
who showed a 16% reduction in synaptic pruning. The researchers suggest that this over–
connectedness from reduced synaptic pruning may be linked with the sensory sensitivity and over–
stimulation that children with autism

The And Of The Multimode Cluster Using Apriori Pruning
VI. CONCLUSIONS/FUTURE WORK In our future work, we will be calculating the values of
support and confidence on the multimode cluster using Apriori pruning. In this algorithm every item
is considered as a 1–itemset. The support for each item is calculated and compared against the input
support value entered by the user. If the support values of the item sets are less than the input
support then those candidates are discarded and the action rules discovery algorithm only runs on
the remaining attributes. This process is continued for 2–item sets and 3 and so until we have the
support values for the item sets less than the input value. For example if we get the input support
value to be 5 and the 4 item set attributes lead to support value less than 5, then we will be
considering only the attributes that form the 4 item sets. In this method, we are pruning the attributes
before the action rules are discovered and the algorithm only run on the attributes that form the
frequent item sets. This avoids unnecessary combination of rules within the attributes. Instead of
generating the rules at a later stage after finding all the combinations of rules, this prunes early to
avoid unnecessary combinations. This greatly increases the time complexity of the algorithm and as
well as space complexity. We are also planning to run this algorithm in the MapReduce Framework
similar to the one we have done in this paper. This further decreases the time complexity and the
action rules discovery

What's on your Mind?
A research paper about the changes in past and recent brain studies
From the "superpredator" scares of the 1970s up to the 1990s successes in brain research, It was
believed that the brain was resistant to change after we entered adulthood. During these early times
in brain studies, it was commonplace to hear about how the elderly aren't able to change with the
times. The belief that, "when you grow up you won't change," was one of the many frustrations of
that time period, and even had countless songs dedicated to these neural setbacks (American Idiot by
Green Day). Previously in 1890 however, a man named William James published a book called the
principles of psychology. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The research stated that the teenage and adult brain was incapable of any sort of growth. At the time,
this seemed plausible to say this because of something called synaptic pruning. Synaptic pruning is,
"The process of synapse elimination that occurs between early childhood and the onset of puberty in
many mammals, including humans." (Synaptic Pruning Wikipedia 1). Due to this culling of brain
cells, scientists of this time period thought that after puberty, the brain went on a decline for the rest
of the person's life. As a result of this false research, another study expected the juvenile crime rate
to rise exponentially due to this decline in neural functionality. The researchers went as far as saying
these children that had yet to commit crimes should be coined "superpredators." It was this
prediction (some may even call it an assumption) that caused crime to occur. This research got the
majority of the population to think that innocent children were time bombs waiting to explode. Due
to the studies explaining that the brain became concrete after a certain age, there suddenly was a
reason (even if it was incorrect) for the children rebelling. The authorities however, decided to
handle these delicate matters by sending mere juveniles to be tried as adults and sentenced to jail.
These teenagers were told they could never change, which in turn

Possible Cause Of Schizophrenia Essay
Possible Cause for Schizophrenia Schizophrenia, defined by the National Institute of Mental Health
is "...a chronic and severe mental disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels, and behaves..."
Sufferers of this mental illness have many symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, difficulty
finding happiness, reduced speaking, trouble focusing, and many other symptoms which greatly
impact their quality of life. Around two million Americans are diagnosed with this illness, although
not much is known about it. Scientists have still not been able to pin point what causes
schizophrenia. Due to this there is no cure, only treatments to try and dull the symptoms. Steven
McCarroll and Beth Stevens have conducted a study which will hopefully give researchers
something to help further their studies, to finally find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The part of the brain that is mostly impacted is the prefrontal cortex, which helps with thinking and
planning. The team focused on a location in the human genome called the MHC. They found that
the MHC has four variants of C4, which produced two different proteins, C4–A and C4–B. After
analyzing 64,000 people they concluded that schizophrenics were more likely to have overactive
forms of C4–A than non–schizophrenic people. This finding made them believe the C4–A was the
gene which may cause schizophrenia. This idea was then tested by Dr. Stevens, an assistant
professor of neurology. Mice were used in the experiment to see if the nonexistence of the gene
which produces C4 would impact the synaptic pruning. The experiment showed that the mice bred
without the C4 producing gene showed a problematic synaptic pruning process. This further
supported McCarroll and Steven's theory that too much C4–A causes an excessive amount of
pruning during development of the brain. This all explains why schizophrenics have a thinner

Desert Southwest
In the Desert Southwest, we are blessed with two different blooming seasons, spring and fall. Roses
don't really enjoy the heat of summer and go into summer dormancy, meaning that they just exist
and don't grow or bloom significantly. However, with the days growing shorter and summer
temperatures begin to cool, it is time to lightly prune your rose bushes, which will stimulate new
growth. In September, begin by pruning back about 1/4 of the total size of the rose bush, (this isn't
the major pruning that occurs in the winter). As always, prune back to an outward facing bud at an
angle of 45 degrees. Seal any pruning cuts larger than the diameter of a pencil with Elmer's glue to
prevent borers. It is also time to fertilize your roses in preparation ... Show more content on

Keeping a hummingbird feeder is a good idea, but there are other things you need to do to keep the
little birds happy and humming in your garden. Hummingbirds, unlike most other animals, do not
find their food source based on smell. Because of this, brightly colored plants and feeders are what
attract the tiny creatures to your garden. Red is the best color to attract them. Keeping a clean, full
feeder provides hummingbirds with the energy they need to keep flying around your garden and to
other stops on their feeding route. The sugar water solution, however, is not their main food source.
Hummingbirds actually get the nutrients and proteins they need for survival from soft–bodied
spiders and tiny insects on the plants in your garden. Their outrageous metabolisms burn up calories
so quickly, they need the sugar and flower nectars to keep them energized so they can hunt. The
traditional sugar/water solution calls for one part sugar to four parts water. Do not boil the water to
make syrup. Just mix it in room temperature water. Some gardeners have experimented with
solutions that have a higher concentration of sugar to water. There is no research to show that high
concentrated solutions of sugar harms the hummingbirds. Their metabolism operates so much
differently than most animals. A higher concentration of solution just means they can drink less
often to get the energy they need to hunt. It

Schizophreni Lat Late Adolescence/Early Adulthood
The human psyche is one of the most complicated things that exist, psychologists are still nowhere
near understanding the complexity of the mind and the disorders that come with the uniqueness of
the individual. Schizophrenia is one such disorder that begins to manifest in early adult hood. The
disease is characterized by a disconnect from reality, which includes symptoms of hallucinatory
affect. This leads to individuals being unable to adapt and cope with their environment which has
socioeconomic effects on the individual such as homelessness. Suicide is also more prominent
among the schizophrenic population with a rate of almost 5%. The mechanism behind it are just
beginning to be unveiled through modern science which gives hope to individuals currently afflicted
with this disorder. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are transitioning from being dependent on family to being dependent in ourselves. Biologically
we are also going through a process known as "Synaptic Pruning". Our brains make connections
through synapses; these essentially "bind" neurons so that when a stimulus occurs in one, the next is
fired. During the process of synaptic pruning our brains reduce these number of connections. This is
important because having unused connections in the brain can reduce the efficiency of the brain.
With synaptic pruning our brains "clean up" these unused connections to avoid wasting resources on
them. In schizophrenics, this process becomes excessive as the brain begins to break down "used"
connections. As time progresses schizophrenics begin to lose contact with reality as their brains lose
the ability to moderate the difference between fact and

The Causes Of Embarrassment And Brain Pruning In The Human...
For decades, the human brain has been one of the most complex organs found in our body. Scientists
all around the world are always trying to find new information as to how this special organ works
and all the affects it has on people. The brain has its own way of developing and changing as it
grows, and many scientists and researchers find that as the brain grows in our teen years, there are a
lot of reasons behind embarrassment and brain pruning. Embarrassment is a feeling of self–
consciousness, shame, or awkwardness caused by hormones, while brain pruning is extra neurons
and synaptic connections that are eliminated in order to increase the efficiency of neuronal
transmissions. Each text discusses a different relationship between behavior and the brain, which are
embarrassment and pruning. Two major differences between embarrassment and brain pruning are
what goes on in the brain that causes these activations and the age at which they occur. One pivotal
difference is what goes on in the brain during embarrassment and brain pruning and how they each
occur. To begin with, embarrassment deals with hormones. These hormones that get released into
the brain cause many imbalances and trigger embarrassment. From passage 1, "Embarrassed? Blame
Your Brain" by Jennifer Connor–Smith states,"This imbalance means even small problems, like
tripping in the hallway, can trigger a wave of embarrassment". This shows that the disproportion of
hormones in the brain cause

Voting Based Neural Network: Extreme Learning Machine Essay
Extreme learning Machine (ELM) [1] is a single hidden layer feed forward network (SLFN)
introduced by G. B. Huang in 2006. In ELM, the weights between input and hidden neurons and the
bias for each hidden neuron are assigned randomly. The weight between output neurons and hidden
neurons are generated using the Moore Penrose Generalized Inverse [18]. This makes ELM a fast
learning classifier. It surmounts various traditional gradient based learning algorithms [1] such as
Back Propagation (BP) and well known classifier Support Vector Machine (SVM) .
In order to improve the performance various variants of the ELM came over time such as Enhanced
Incremental ELM (EI–ELM)[2], Optimal Pruned ELM (OP–ELM) [3], Convex Incremental ELM

Mainly ensemble pruning [12] approaches are categorized into three types.
a). Ordering Based Pruning: In this pruning approach the classifiers are arranged using some criteria
and some of the top classifiers are selected as a Pruned Ensemble (PE). Some of the Ordering Based
Pruning approaches are as follows: Kappa Pruning [12], Reduce Error Pruning [12], Minimum
Distance Minimization Pruning(MDP) [12], Pruning via Individual Contribution Ordering [13],
Ensemble Pruning Using Spectral Coefficient [14].
b) Optimization based pruning is a pruning approach which uses evolutionary techniques for
pruning such as Genetic Algorithm (GA). A fitness function is genetically optimized to get a subset
of classifiers which minimizes the error. Various variants of genetic based ensemble pruning have
been proposed such as Genetic Algorithm based Selective Neural Network Ensemble (GASEN)
[15], GAB: EPA [16]. Objective of GASEN is to select the best PE and maximize the accuracy of
the PE by assigning the best weight to the classifiers of the PE. It uses fitness function, which is
function of the generalization error minimized by genetic algorithm. GAB:EPA [16] was proposed
for handling multiclass imbalanced data sets, diversity factor was also incorporated in fitness
function to improve the performance.
c) Cluster Based Pruning Technique: In such type of pruning technique many clusters of the
component classifiers are made and from

Teenage Mood Changes During The Teenage Brain
During the teenage years is when the human brain goes through the most drastic changes, both at the
cellular level and at the emotional level. Teenage brains go through the most emotional distress
because their frontal cortex is not fully developed. According to dr. Charles Nelson who was
interviewed for the film; Inside The Teenage Brain and said, "...and because the child – the 13 or 14
or 15–year–old – still has an immature frontal cortex, they often do not make the most responsible,
reasoned decisions." This is one plausible explanation to most teenage attitude. Dr. Nelson also
referred to mood swings, "But we think the ultimate responsibility for regulating these mood
changes resides in the frontal cortex, and that's what's overseeing

Movie Analysis : Inside Out
Families have seen personified toys, cars, vegetables, robots, and monsters, but now emotions?
Pixar Animation and Walt Disney Pictures' movie Inside Out, took a unique look at its protagonist
Riley, her emotions, personality, and memories. One of five emotions, Joy, so aptly stated "Do you
ever look at someone and wonder, "What is going on inside their head?" Well, I know. Well, um, I
know Riley 's head." After viewing Inside Out, a person feels like they understand pruning felt by
Riley in an accurate way. It's clear there is more to her personality than what is on the outside. The
external conflict of the movie is relatively simple; Riley leaves her happy midwestern life in
Minnesota when her family moves to San Francisco. Plagued by the difficulties of starting a new
life, she decides to run away, to the place that formally made her happy. It is only in remembering
that part of joyful memories was a connection with her parents that stopped her (Citation 2). This is
a classic case of what child psychiatrists call "childhood depression". Children must learn the
importance of sadness in keeping and maintaining family ties. Sadness and the importance of it, or
in the movie, her, supplements the external plot with her own internal plot. At birth, Joy is Riley's
first emotion, soon followed by sadness, fear, anger, and disgust. Her emotions respond to Riley's
everyday interactions with parents and friend growing up. Then, in middle school with great
friendships, a budding

not necessary be deadwood, depending on the circumstances. The goals within the organization are

discharging Schmitt and other top executives so soon after the merger. I believe this for many
different reasons. First off, the two companies just got situated together, therefore, new
developments and processes were happen within the company during that time. With that being said
I do not believe that was the most appropriate time to get rid of individuals that made the company

on the company Rubbermaid, he was basically the foundation of the company and the other
executives were huge attributes to the company as well. A third reason is that both companies before
the merger were huge in the industry and when they decide to merger together they become
enormous, something that should not be handled alone. He

Pruning In The Teenage Brain
Throughout the process of "pruning", also known as synapse elimination, in the teenage brain is a
complex developing period which consists of shortening unused synapses and increasing the vitality
of those that are used frequently by the individual. All adolescents experience of phase of childhood
development where they tend to forget specific affairs and engage in poor decision making, and
there are explanations for this residing in the brain. More specifically, as stated by PBS, "the
activation of the hippocampus would show why teenagers do not remember certain duties or
events". In addition to this, there is also a "growth spurt" in the frontal cortex in the teenage brain,
and the prefrontal cortex is not fully developed yet, which is crucial

Facilitators In William Shakespeare's Richard II
Shakespeare's Richard II is a play which depicts the last few years of England's King Richard's rule.
John of Gaunt, who is the 1st Duke of Lancaster and Richard's uncle, is a sick and dying man who
believes men of his situation as great counsel to the youth. "Oh, but they say the tongues of dying
men enforce attention like deep harmony" (Act 2, Scene 1, 39). Shakespeare uses Gaunt as the
introductory facilitator for his metaphoric description of England as a garden, where Richard is
described as the royal gardener who is mismanaging the garden; lending to the second fall of
humanity through the loss of what is an imaginary Eden. It is Gaunt's hope that Richard will listen to
the advice he has to offer from his deathbed, but Duke of York doubts he will. Instead, York is of the
opinion, Richard listens only to those whom flatterer him and that his taste for luxury is
overwhelming. Gaunt insists that Richard's reign will not last long; giving a speech in praise of

wholesome herbs swarming with caterpillars" (Act 3, Scene 4, 40–46). The gardener's instructions
to his helpers about weeding and pruning are superimposed on England's political situation. The
garden is England and the plant needing pruning is the royal family. The gardener explains that the
weeding and pruning process is necessary for the long range life of the garden. In the same way it is
presented that Richard's deposition has become inevitable if England is to become well–ordered

The Process Of Spatiotemporal Swarms Mining Algorithms
paragraph{Spatiotemporal Swarms Mining Algorithms}
Algorithm ref{algo:spatiotemporal} shows the process of mining short time and long time
spatiotemporal swarms. Initially, all swarms are empty indicated by Lines 3–5. Then, the trajectory
data is preprocessed to remove inconsistent and inaccurate data at Line 6 and build time to locations
matrix at Line 7. After that, infrequent pruning, row and column pruning methods have been applied
upon matrix data at Lines 8–10 and mines locations based all timestamps short time spatiotemporal

After that we will mine others swarms. The necessary steps used for mining moving objects swarms
are pointed below where we consider minimum number of objects $min_{object}$ = 2.
At first, our proposed method generates 1–length tiemstamp swarm from the given database shown
in the figure ref{example1}(b) that is called short time spatiotemporal swarms. It has been shown
that the objects in location $L_3$ at timestamps $T_1$ and location $L_4$ at timestemps $T_1,
T_3, T_5$ are removed because only one object exists in the locations which is less than the
minimum number of objects $min_{object}$. In the second step, proposed algorithm begets 2–
length timestamps candidate based on previous 1–length timestamp swarms. Figure ref{example1}
(c) interprets the objects locations based on time where objects are found by the common objects at
particular times of the generated timesets. Suppose at timeset $[T_1, T_2]$ in location $L_1$ begets
objects set $left{o_1, o_2, o_3right}$ from the common objects sets between $left{o_1, o_2,
o_3, o_4right}$ and $left{o_1, o_2, o_3right}$ at time $T_1$ an $T_2$ respectively. In this
way, all the cells of are procreated. If their is no common object, then the cell value is empty. Then,
we apply four efficient pruning techniques: (i) candidate pruning that prune those candidates which
maintain the Apriori pruning principle that is any itemset which is infrequent, its superset should not

neurological connections. A leading research who was interviewed in the video by the name of Dr.
Jay Giedd supports and elaborates on this concept even further by stating, " Those cells and
connections that are used will survive and flourish. Those cells and connections that are not used
will wither and die" (Frontline, 2002). Applying what the research exemplified throughout the video

LAD is another statistical optimality criterion and the statistical optimization technique that relies on

given parts of a probability distribution or sample at the high and low end, and typically discarding
an equal amount of both. This number of points to be discarded is usually given as a percentage of
the total number of points, but may also be given as a fixed number of points. Also known as
Truncated Mean. For classification trees, phi coefficient, Gini Index, or "twoing" are the most

  • 3. Nandina Research Paper Nandina (Nandina domestica) is also known as heavenly bamboo, although it has no relation to the bamboo plant. It takes the nickname from the fact that its foliage bears an uncanny resemblance to that of bamboo plants. Found in United States Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 6 through 9, nandina is a woody shrub with year–round interest. It bears flowers in the spring and berries in the fall when its foliage turns red, gold and orange. In warmer climates it is evergreen. One of the most important aspects of nandina care is annual pruning. Time Frame Nandina produces flowers in late spring or summer, which make way for green berries. These ripen to a striking red color in autumn and remain on the plant throughout fall and sometimes through winter. While spring pruning is appropriate for many shrubs, if you prune the nandina too late in the spring, you run the risk of not having berries the following season. The ideal time to prune is in late winter or early spring. Tools ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Two types of tools are used to prune the nandina. Use bypass pruning shears to cut branches and shoots that measure 3/4 inches in diameter and smaller. Bypass pruners, while more expensive than anvil–type pruners, make a cleaner cut. For growth measuring up to 1 3/4 inches in diameter use lopping shears. Always disinfect your pruning tools by wiping them down with alcohol before using them. Failure to do so may spread plant diseases. Strategy When you prune the nandina, you set the stage for the following season's growth. Prune one–third of the stems, spaced randomly around the nandina, to the soil. Prune another one–third of the stems down to one–half the shrub's height. Allow the final third of the stems to remain unpruned. This staggered effect will show off next season's flowers and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. A Man Without Moustache Essay Introduction From ancient China, there is an old saying that a man without moustache is bound to make slips. This means that young people cannot be trusted with important tasks because they are lacking in experience. Actually, it is not simply about the experience but the significant physical changes occurring in and sculpturing the brain that lead us from being childish to maturity. From infants to mature adults, three major changes are identified to be necessary for the brain to become well– developed and functioning: pruning, myelination, and delegation. Pruning Pruning, known as synaptic pruning, is a physiological process in which unnecessary and rarely used neuronal connections wither and are pruned, or eliminated, by the brain (McAuliffe 2007, p. 313). Neuronal pathways that are heavily used are valued more by the brain so that they can survive from the pruning process (McAuliffe 2007, p. 314). The pruning can also help to save resources to support the growth of neuronal connections with more activeness (McAuliffe 2007, p. 313). The whole process is based on the brain's fundamental mechanism for efficiency and maturation (Sabbage 2006, p.27). The brain pruning begins from gestational age (around 20 weeks), surges after birth, and continues till the period of adolescence (Khundrakpam et al. 2016, p.193). In the infancy and childhood, when the brain is able to make new and useful connections for where needed, the pruning process takes place and speeds up. As a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Essay on The Importance of Early Childhood Cognitive... The Importance of Early Childhood Cognitive Development America has many programs for graduating students that are involved with education and children. While any college student can appreciate education, I suspect that few understand the importance of early childhood development. Having committed to apply for a position in Teach for America, I want to better understand why it is so important to "get 'em while they're young." In 2001, the US Department of Education, Academy of the Sciences, and the Foundation for Child Development conducted a study on early childhood development. Several interesting, scientific ideas and trends on childhood development emerged from the study. The questions surrounding this research were: how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first this growth is uninhibited. However, as the infant reaches toddler age, the brain begins to eliminate some synapses between neurons in order to help the brain transmit information more efficiently. The synapses and neurons that were activated most during growth are the ones that will be preserved. This process helps to create a brain better equipped to absorb knowledge. (1) To optimize synaptic pruning, some studies show that "a specific learning process" may help the brain form itself into a more useful tool. (2) The Eagar to Learn study found five criteria that are based on neuroplasticity. The first, attention, stresses the need to hone the development of this skill during the first five years of life– the years with the most rapid brain growth. Second, priming, or the acquisition of knowledge through sight and sound, may reshape the synapses of the brain based on stimulus. Practice, the fourth criterion, also uses neuroplasticity to absorb knowledge into the brain. The fourth and fifth criteria are related to language. Learning and rule learning both demonstrate that the sooner these elements of education are specified and controlled, the more likely the brain will have a better synaptic pruning process. In other words, the more weak synapses will be eliminated. Eagar to Learn reports that once English orthography, a component of rule learning, is set in the brain, the brain may become "strongly resistant to change." ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Synapse Pruning Introduction Schizophrenia is not unheard of; there have been many groups that raised the awareness for the disease and institutions that set up clinical trials for people with schizophrenia. Many individuals are affected by it, and they had lived a compromised life. This mental disorder continues to make patients suffer, along with their family and friends. Despite the relevance of this mental disorder in our society, many people have little or no knowledge of it or have many misconceptions about the disorder. As such, this disease will be the topic of interest in this paper. This paper will take into light a recent study regarding schizophrenia that had successfully provided hope that this mental disorder will be cured in the future. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It had been long suspected that pruning in the synapses has something to do with schizophrenia and the research had finally confirmed this. Aside from supporting this claim, this research had also shown the mechanism by which the synapse pruning becomes irregular. The study had also identified the genes responsible for this which may likewise allow modifications on the right locus. This study had also successfully explained why schizophrenia manifest itself when adolescent onsets–it is also the time when synapse pruning is extensively done (Carey, 2016) Moreover, many had made it clear that this study is not a victory. This does not mean that a cure will be developed soon, it only means that there is something that people involved with the study of schizophrenia will have something to work on which would eventually lead to a clearer understanding of the mental disorder (Carey, 2016). Conclusion The study had linked the C4 gene variants and the proteins it produces (C4A and C4B) to have a major role in the development of schizophrenia. Irregularities in C4A cause irregularities in the synapse pruning that causes a thinner grey matter evident in people with schizophrenia. As such, the study had laid the foundations for the future development of drugs that could cure schizophrenia by providing the direction by which future research should go ... • 11. Levels Of Pruning And Position The average of 'mean no. of bunch primordial per node' gives the average bunch per bud 1 & 2. This is later used to calculate the appropriate shoots per vine to be left after pruning to achieve the desired yield. 72 shoots per vine are left after pruning this year considering the average fruitfulness for node 1 and 2 is 0.9. In comparison, 65 shoots per vine were left after pruning in the previous year considering the average fruitfulness for node 1 and 2, is 1. With less fruitfulness node in this year, light pruning level may be use to still achieve the desired yield. Compound buds develop in the previous seasons and burst in the following seasons, the level of necrosis is partially due to climate in the previous year in November and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shade and high shoot vigour: for Shiraz this cultivar, it generally has longer shoots, vigour shoot growth and extensive lateral growth, which brings up a shading problem (Collins 2005). Without proper canopy management, it would lead to high PBN and less fruitfulness. It also indicates that thicker shoots tend to have higher level of PBN, Dry stated that thicker shoots (>12 mm) had up to 40% more PBN than thinner shoots (<12 mm) in 1998. High gibberellic acid level: the timing of when high gibberellic acid level appears is crucial. When high level of gibberellic acid appears before flowering, the incident of PBN increases. However when high level of gibberellic acid appears after flowering, there is no correlation between PBN and gibberellic acid level. For vigorously growing cultivar Shiraz, large amount of gibberellic acid shifts to buds causes excessive cell elongation. This would kill primary buds due to the out of balanced hormones (Collins 2005). Nevertheless, 40% of primary bud necrosis is still a relatively high number. This is because the percentage of PBN varies greatly from different grape varieties and maybe the pruning level. As spur–pruned Shiraz, it tends to have the highest possibility of PBN in Australian viticulture region (Dry, 1986). In this year, a light pruning method is used because of low fruitfulness. • 13. Understanding the Brain: Synaptic Pruning Essay example Synaptic Pruning Synaptic pruning, or synaptic elimination, is an essential aspect of the development of the brain; when the brain destroys itself, removing unwanted synapses, neurons or neuronal configurations to increase efficiency of connections. The process and timing of pruning is thought to be significantly changed by the experiences, genes, and even the thoughts of the developing mind. There are a variety of theories as to the true nature of pruning. During early childhood, there is a huge proliferation of connections between neurons, usually peaking around the age of two. The adolescent brain then cuts down the amount of connections, deciding which ones are important to keep and which can be let go. While there are various ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some neuroscientists have made educated guesses as to the nature of this deletion, and there has been relative consensus that microglia, being part of the immune system, remove the synapses because they appear to be either unnecessary or damaged. This abnormal synaptic pruning could be a significant source of the symptoms of schizophrenia. If this mutation is genetic, then perhaps it could be corrected by sophisticated forms of genetic engineering. Loose associations have also been found between the genes that influence synaptic pruning and those that influence autism and Aspergers disorder. Pruning is also highly dependent on experience [4]. Neural plasticity reaches its peak during childhood and before synaptic pruning begins. Thus, if a child begins to learn a language or any other complex function before synaptic pruning, that function will be deemed important and the neural connections pertaining to it will be kept and strengthened. This gives new meaning to the saying "use it or lose it." Experiences during and before synaptic pruning are perhaps some of the most important in development, because they directly affect brain function for the rest of the subject's life. It is thought that connections deleted during pruning cannot be regained. "The fact that there are more connections [in a child's brain] allows things to be moved around," said physiologist Ian Campbell from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Childhood Trauma And Its Effects On Brain Development The purpose of this paper is to conduct library research on early childhood trauma and its effects on brain development. This paper will discuss the consequences of early childhood trauma, specifically the manner in which it impacts brain development. Included will be a discussion of What tends to happen to people who experience early childhood trauma. Within the paper will be a description of the consequences of this type of trauma for the urban individual, family, community, or culture. This paper will then identify two of the most effective, evidenced based practice treatment models utilized for survivors of this form of trauma. Case Analysis Trauma is an individual's visceral reaction to a horrible event, events such as early childhood traumas, accidents, sexual abuse, or community violence (apa.org, 2016). An individual may react with shock and denial in the aftermath. As time continues some reactions may comprise of mood swings, intrusive memories, difficulties maintaining relationships and can manifest into physical symptoms to include headache or upset stomach. There are individuals who experience difficulties functioning in their daily lives; these observable responses are a normal response to the trauma (apa.org, 2016). Early childhood trauma generally addresses the distressing experiences that happen to the zero to six–age population. These traumatic events can be the same as those of adult individuals, such as the ones mentioned above (nctsn.org). (Stiles & ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Social And Social Data Analysis Abstract–Social data analysis could be a kind of analysis during Which individuals add a social, cooperative context to form sense of knowledge Social data analysis includes 2 main constituent parts: 1) knowledge generated from social networking sites (or through social applications), and 2) refined analysis of that knowledge, in several cases requiring period (or close to real–time) knowledge analytic, measurements that perceive and suitably weigh factors like influence, reach, and contentedness, AN understanding of the context of the information being analyzed, and also the inclusion of your time horizon concerns. In short, social knowledge analytics involves the analysis of social media so as to know and surface insights that is embedded inside the information. • 29. Embarrassment And Brain Pruning The brain, one of the most vital parts of the body, does many things to help in people's daily life. It helps to interpret information and controls everything that happens in the body, even while sleeping. However, it can cause many effects on a person's attitude and mood and can cause the threat– detection system to react. In society, the teens and kids don't always have to fit in or be in a big group, but still have the fear of getting rejected, making each one's self–esteem lower. This activity is known as embarrassment. Teens and kids throughout the world get it every day between school, social media, and even just in the middle of the public. Embarrassment is caused when seeing the world changes in teens brains as the hormones power up. From the day kids start learning things all the way up until they die, brain pruning occurs. That happens when the kids, teens, and adults use some of the information originally learned as a baby or very young kid, and it gets lost and put away until starting to use the information again. The two major differences between embarrassment and brain pruning is the effects they leave on people and what the process is in both. One major difference between the two is that embarrassment can leave a negative effect as to where brain pruning can leave a positive effect. To begin, embarrassment has been known to leave a negative effect as many teens start to get older and start to feel more physical pain because of their brains changing through ... Wilson uses this poem to share his thoughts to the world. He uses this poem to explain the concept of death. Jim C. Wilson wrote this person because of his personal experiences as a child and adult. The concept of this poem applies to all people, as every person will eventually die. Therefore, this poem aims to prove that even though death is inevitable, happiness is earned by helping others. The speaker of this poem is a gardener, most likely the author himself. Wilson uses figurative language to explain why death brings happiness to life The author uses symbolism to communicate his own mortality. While the gardener cuts his plants he thinks about his own failures. Wilson writes, "No sharp shears will make me sprout, or slow my geriatric trend."(11–12). The gardener of this story uses secateurs to cut his plants. If the plants were left by themselves, they would not be able to flourish. Therefore the shears in this portion symbolize outside help, as the plants would not be able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the poem the gardener grooms his plays. (13–14). Most people associate destruction with death, damage, and disease; while wrinkling, stiffening, stooping, and being short of breath are all solid signs of old age. Fruit trees, such as apples, pears and figs are often grown in this fashion, as are ornamental tree and shrubs. Espalier training is idea for homeowners who have limited space, or as a method of marking boundary lines. Success with espalier pruning and training depends greatly on the care of the tree and providing the proper support. Choosing Trees Those new to espalier can benefit from buying trees with a framework of branches already shaped and formed by professionals. If you wish to espalier fruit trees, always choose those grown on dwarfing root stock. Dwarf root stock fruit trees only grow up to 10 feet tall, making them well– suited to espalier training. Ornamental trees and shrubs worth growing as espalier include forsythias, magnolia grandiflora, yews, viburnums, and jasminums. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plant trees 6 to 10 inches from the support, and choose two strong branches to begin shaping; cut off all other shoots and cut the main branch, or leader, to just above the bottom wire. It can take up to four years of training and pruning to create a good looking design. During the growing season, gradually tighten ties so that the branches are drawn horizontally against the fence. At this time the leader sprouts; when the new sprout is long enough, tie it to the second wire. During the dormant season, prune back the leader to the second wire, and choose two strong branches to create the second tier, removing any competing shoots. As the tree grows, you will repeat this process for each tier, keeping the leader upright and attached to a wire as it grows. Over Arousal Theory Although over–arousal theories stem from very early research, they are still an active component in the clinical conceptualizations of sensory dysregulation in ASD's today (Greenspan et al., 1997). Over–arousal theories can help understand the avoidance of novelty food and the stereotypical behaviour that can be seen in ASD. They also provide a connection between sensory deficits and RRB symtpoms, both of which appear to play a role in food selectivity. Research has found that impairments in functioning associated with the medial temporal lobes and the limbic system may explain some of the deficits characterizing ASD (Joseph, 1999). However, when comparing adolescents, researchers found those without autism had around 41% fewer synapses than the infants, compared to the group with autism who showed a 16% reduction in synaptic pruning. • 37. The And Of The Multimode Cluster Using Apriori Pruning VI. CONCLUSIONS/FUTURE WORK In our future work, we will be calculating the values of support and confidence on the multimode cluster using Apriori pruning. In this algorithm every item is considered as a 1–itemset. The support for each item is calculated and compared against the input support value entered by the user. If the support values of the item sets are less than the input support then those candidates are discarded and the action rules discovery algorithm only runs on the remaining attributes. This process is continued for 2–item sets and 3 and so until we have the support values for the item sets less than the input value. For example if we get the input support value to be 5 and the 4 item set attributes lead to support value less than 5, then we will be considering only the attributes that form the 4 item sets. In this method, we are pruning the attributes before the action rules are discovered and the algorithm only run on the attributes that form the frequent item sets. This avoids unnecessary combination of rules within the attributes. Instead of generating the rules at a later stage after finding all the combinations of rules, this prunes early to avoid unnecessary combinations. This greatly increases the time complexity of the algorithm and as well as space complexity. We are also planning to run this algorithm in the MapReduce Framework similar to the one we have done in this paper. This further decreases the time complexity and the action rules discovery ... A research paper about the changes in past and recent brain studies From the "superpredator" scares of the 1970s up to the 1990s successes in brain research, It was believed that the brain was resistant to change after we entered adulthood. During these early times in brain studies, it was commonplace to hear about how the elderly aren't able to change with the times. The belief that, "when you grow up you won't change," was one of the many frustrations of that time period, and even had countless songs dedicated to these neural setbacks (American Idiot by Green Day). Previously in 1890 however, a man named William James published a book called the principles of psychology. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The research stated that the teenage and adult brain was incapable of any sort of growth. At the time, this seemed plausible to say this because of something called synaptic pruning. Synaptic pruning is, "The process of synapse elimination that occurs between early childhood and the onset of puberty in many mammals, including humans." (Synaptic Pruning Wikipedia 1). Due to this culling of brain cells, scientists of this time period thought that after puberty, the brain went on a decline for the rest of the person's life. As a result of this false research, another study expected the juvenile crime rate to rise exponentially due to this decline in neural functionality. The researchers went as far as saying these children that had yet to commit crimes should be coined "superpredators." It was this prediction (some may even call it an assumption) that caused crime to occur. This research got the majority of the population to think that innocent children were time bombs waiting to explode. Due to the studies explaining that the brain became concrete after a certain age, there suddenly was a reason (even if it was incorrect) for the children rebelling. The authorities however, decided to handle these delicate matters by sending mere juveniles to be tried as adults and sentenced to jail. These teenagers were told they could never change, which in turn ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Around two million Americans are diagnosed with this illness, although not much is known about it. Scientists have still not been able to pin point what causes schizophrenia. The part of the brain that is mostly impacted is the prefrontal cortex, which helps with thinking and planning. The team focused on a location in the human genome called the MHC. After analyzing 64,000 people they concluded that schizophrenics were more likely to have overactive forms of C4–A than non–schizophrenic people. This finding made them believe the C4–A was the gene which may cause schizophrenia. This idea was then tested by Dr. Stevens, an assistant professor of neurology. Mice were used in the experiment to see if the nonexistence of the gene which produces C4 would impact the synaptic pruning. The experiment showed that the mice bred without the C4 producing gene showed a problematic synaptic pruning process. This further supported McCarroll and Steven's theory that too much C4–A causes an excessive amount of pruning during development of the brain. This all explains why schizophrenics have a thinner prefrontal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Keeping a hummingbird feeder is a good idea, but there are other things you need to do to keep the little birds happy and humming in your garden. Hummingbirds, unlike most other animals, do not find their food source based on smell. Because of this, brightly colored plants and feeders are what attract the tiny creatures to your garden. Red is the best color to attract them. Keeping a clean, full feeder provides hummingbirds with the energy they need to keep flying around your garden and to other stops on their feeding route. The sugar water solution, however, is not their main food source. Hummingbirds actually get the nutrients and proteins they need for survival from soft–bodied spiders and tiny insects on the plants in your garden. Their outrageous metabolisms burn up calories so quickly, they need the sugar and flower nectars to keep them energized so they can hunt. The traditional sugar/water solution calls for one part sugar to four parts water. Do not boil the water to make syrup. Just mix it in room temperature water. Some gardeners have experimented with solutions that have a higher concentration of sugar to water. There is no research to show that high concentrated solutions of sugar harms the hummingbirds. Scientists all around the world are always trying to find new information as to how this special organ works and all the affects it has on people. The brain has its own way of developing and changing as it grows, and many scientists and researchers find that as the brain grows in our teen years, there are a lot of reasons behind embarrassment and brain pruning. Embarrassment is a feeling of self– consciousness, shame, or awkwardness caused by hormones, while brain pruning is extra neurons and synaptic connections that are eliminated in order to increase the efficiency of neuronal transmissions. Each text discusses a different relationship between behavior and the brain, which are embarrassment and pruning. Two major differences between embarrassment and brain pruning are what goes on in the brain that causes these activations and the age at which they occur. One pivotal difference is what goes on in the brain during embarrassment and brain pruning and how they each occur. To begin with, embarrassment deals with hormones. These hormones that get released into the brain cause many imbalances and trigger embarrassment. From passage 1, "Embarrassed? Blame Your Brain" by Jennifer Connor–Smith states,"This imbalance means even small problems, like tripping in the hallway, can trigger a wave of embarrassment". This shows that the disproportion of hormones in the brain cause ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The weight between output neurons and hidden neurons are generated using the Moore Penrose Generalized Inverse [18]. This makes ELM a fast learning classifier. It surmounts various traditional gradient based learning algorithms [1] such as Back Propagation (BP) and well known classifier Support Vector Machine (SVM) . Pruning In The Teenage Brain Throughout the process of "pruning", also known as synapse elimination, in the teenage brain is a complex developing period which consists of shortening unused synapses and increasing the vitality of those that are used frequently by the individual. All adolescents experience of phase of childhood development where they tend to forget specific affairs and engage in poor decision making, and there are explanations for this residing in the brain. More specifically, as stated by PBS, "the activation of the hippocampus would show why teenagers do not remember certain duties or events". In addition to this, there is also a "growth spurt" in the frontal cortex in the teenage brain, and the prefrontal cortex is not fully developed yet, which is crucial ... • 68. Facilitators In William Shakespeare's Richard II Shakespeare's Richard II is a play which depicts the last few years of England's King Richard's rule. John of Gaunt, who is the 1st Duke of Lancaster and Richard's uncle, is a sick and dying man who believes men of his situation as great counsel to the youth. "Oh, but they say the tongues of dying men enforce attention like deep harmony" (Act 2, Scene 1, 39). Shakespeare uses Gaunt as the introductory facilitator for his metaphoric description of England as a garden, where Richard is described as the royal gardener who is mismanaging the garden; lending to the second fall of humanity through the loss of what is an imaginary Eden. It is Gaunt's hope that Richard will listen to the advice he has to offer from his deathbed, but Duke of York doubts he will. Instead, York is of the opinion, Richard listens only to those whom flatterer him and that his taste for luxury is overwhelming. Gaunt insists that Richard's reign will not last long; giving a speech in praise of England ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... " Why should we in the compass of a pale keep law and form and due proportion, showing as in a model our firm estate, when our sea–walled garden, the whole land, is full of weeds, her fairest flowers chocked up, her fruit trees all unpruned, her hedges ruined, her knots disordered, and her wholesome herbs swarming with caterpillars" (Act 3, Scene 4, 40–46). The gardener's instructions to his helpers about weeding and pruning are superimposed on England's political situation. The garden is England and the plant needing pruning is the royal family. The gardener explains that the weeding and pruning process is necessary for the long range life of the garden. In the same way it is presented that Richard's deposition has become inevitable if England is to become well–ordered ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. The Process Of Spatiotemporal Swarms Mining Algorithms paragraph{Spatiotemporal Swarms Mining Algorithms} Algorithm ref{algo:spatiotemporal} shows the process of mining short time and long time spatiotemporal swarms. Initially, all swarms are empty indicated by Lines 3–5. Then, the trajectory data is preprocessed to remove inconsistent and inaccurate data at Line 6 and build time to locations matrix at Line 7. After that, infrequent pruning, row and column pruning methods have been applied upon matrix data at Lines 8–10 and mines locations based all timestamps short time spatiotemporal swarms which is objects set size is greater than or equal to $min_{object}$ at Lines 11–17. Mining long time spatiotemporal swarm generates K–length timestamps candidate swarms from the self joining of K–1 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After that we will mine others swarms. The necessary steps used for mining moving objects swarms are pointed below where we consider minimum number of objects $min_{object}$ = 2. At first, our proposed method generates 1–length tiemstamp swarm from the given database shown in the figure ref{example1}(b) that is called short time spatiotemporal swarms. It has been shown that the objects in location $L_3$ at timestamps $T_1$ and location $L_4$ at timestemps $T_1, T_3, T_5$ are removed because only one object exists in the locations which is less than the minimum number of objects $min_{object}$. In the second step, proposed algorithm begets 2– length timestamps candidate based on previous 1–length timestamp swarms. Figure ref{example1} (c) interprets the objects locations based on time where objects are found by the common objects at particular times of the generated timesets. Suppose at timeset $[T_1, T_2]$ in location $L_1$ begets objects set $left{o_1, o_2, o_3right}$ from the common objects sets between $left{o_1, o_2, o_3, o_4right}$ and $left{o_1, o_2, o_3right}$ at time $T_1$ an $T_2$ respectively. In this way, all the cells of are procreated. If their is no common object, then the cell value is empty. Then, we apply four efficient pruning techniques: (i) candidate pruning that prune those candidates which maintain the Apriori pruning principle that is any itemset which is infrequent, its superset should not be ... • 74. Pruning And Teenage Brain Development Pruning is a gardening term which means to trim a tree or cut away a branch, when referring to the teenage brain development this is the same exact process only that the brain is a self sustaining gardner providing the service of trimming down dormant parts of the brain or bring arise of new neurological connections. A leading research who was interviewed in the video by the name of Dr. Jay Giedd supports and elaborates on this concept even further by stating, " Those cells and connections that are used will survive and flourish. Those cells and connections that are not used will wither and die" (Frontline, 2002). Applying what the research exemplified throughout the video and comparing it to my own teenage brain development there are in fact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then, our decision tree diverges to left (for condition being true, that is, is body weight equal to or greater than 168?) One thing the data scientist should always to is to get an assessment of how the chosen algorithm is performing, as far as accuracy is concerned. Different packages and different methods often use different algorithms and it is important to understand how source code makes the data behave so that we can better analyze, predict, model, and visualize our data. It would be like knowing which port our ship has sailed to so we can expect to know when to make turns and prepare ourselves accordingly. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... LAD is another statistical optimality criterion and the statistical optimization technique that relies on it. Similar to other celebrity–like optimization techniques, LAD aims to find a function which closely approximate our data. Trimmed Mean: Involves the calculation of the mean after discarding given parts of a probability distribution or sample at the high and low end, and typically discarding an equal amount of both. This number of points to be discarded is usually given as a percentage of the total number of points, but may also be given as a fixed number of points. Also known as Truncated Mean. For classification trees, phi coefficient, Gini Index, or "twoing" are the most commonly used approximation techniques. Phi Coefficient: Is a measure of association for two binary variables (n is total number of observations). Gini Index: The Gini Index loss measures inequality or dispersion. Another step data scientist should consider before finalizing his predictions on data, pruning the tree is usually common approach, which I am going to cover in the next section 2.4 Tree Pruning Pruning is a technique we use to reduce the size of decision trees by getting rid of sections of our tree that provide little to no power for our classification. Pruning process helps us reduce the complexity of the finalized classifier, hence providing a better and improved accuracy on our predictions. Since a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
