2. INT. SCREENFLOW. NIGHT
We see a computer screen with a chat room.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
Every girl is destined to find her
Romeo.
BUBBLEGUM_GIRL
You sound too good to be true :).
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
You should be comfortable with
yourself and be willing to tackle
any obstacles that come in your
way.
FOOTBALL_BOY
I wish I cud act like this infront
of my friends I feel so natural
when I’m tlkin 2 u. I wana meet u
:)
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
But it’s easier to sit behind the
comfort of your own laptop.
BUBBLEGUM_GIRL
I don’t know.
FOOTBALL_BOY

MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
When people can’t see you they
can’t judge you.
BUBBLEGUM_GIRL
I’m not your typical girl.

3. CONTINUED: 2.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
And I’m begging.
BUBBLEGUM_GIRL
Can’t wait :D
EXT. COURTYARD AT SCHOOL. DAY
The screen is black.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
Come to think of it, I could wait a
bit longer.
We see Maddie walking through the school gates holding her
books. She looks smart, relaxed, geeky and a bit oblivious.
She looks at her phone and we see her background is her dog.
She’s still walking and just entering the courtyard.
"Popular" girls laugh at her.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
But atleast I’m not a stuck up
bitch.
Turns, looks and awkwardly smiles at one of the "popular"
girls.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
Everyone at school just follows the
crowd, but online you can be true
to yourself, as Steve Jobs would
say it’s better to be a pirate than
to join the navy.
Aden walks straight into her and she drops all her books.
He’s good looking, dressed cool and is surrounded by his
friend. He has a guilty look in his face when he knocks her
down and they make eye contact in which we see his guilt.She
picks up her books.
MADDIE
Charming.
She carries on walking and goes inside.

4. 3.
INT. CLASSROOM. DAY
She sits down and we see time pass through a montage of
quick editing (shot of her writing, shot of her eating, shot
of her writing, shot of her answering a question, writing
more, school bell rings). We hear a bell sound and time goes
back to normal speed.
MADDIE
Here goes.
EXT. COURTYARD AT SCHOOL. DAY
She gets up and leaves we follow her out the gate.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
I just hope he’s not a murderer.
EXT. OUTSIDE MEETING POINT. DAY
She looks at road sign, looks at her phone background and at
the picture of her dog.
MADDIE
Wish me luck.
EXT. MEETING POINT. DAY
Aden sitting on bench waiting. He’s looking nervous, keep
looking at his watch, around him and is fidgeting.
EXT. OUTSIDE MEETING POINT. DAY
Maddie takes a breath and walks around the corner to see
Aden sitting there. She whips back around the corner and
slams herself onto the wall. She breathes and walks past.
MADDIE:
Oh my god oh my god my god.
As she walks past we see Adens anticipation because he
thinks it’s going to be the girl from his chatroom. When the
mystery girl (Maddie) keeps on walking he sighs.

5. 4.
INT. MADDIE’S ROOM. NIGHT
Maddie storms into her room. We see her dog sitting on her
bed waiting for her which shows how close they are. Her room
is quirky and geeky.
MADDIE
You wont believe what just happened
ruby! You know I went to meet him
and turned out it was that idiot
Aden from school.
We hear a pop up on her computer.
FOOTBALL_BOY
Where wer u 2day? Was that you?
MADDIE
What should I do!?
FOOTBALL_BOY
U sed that ud meet me..
BUBBLEGUM_GIRL
Sorry I got held up.
FOOTBALL_BOY
I could of really done with seeing
u, I had the worst day.. My friends
pressured me in2 tripping up this
girl at my skl. It’s not fair cos
i’ve heard shes rly nice but she
jst looks a bit weird.. I wish i
was big enough 2 say sorry
We see Maddies face looks shocked.
MADDIE
Ruby! What should I do?
Ruby runs and sits on Maddies magazine on a make over
section. Maddie looks and smiles cunningly.
MADDIE
Ruby your a genius.
She leans over and kisses her.
BUBBLEGUM_GIRL
Sorry I got held up, same time same
place tomorrow.
Looks at herself in the mirror with a prepared expression.
Looks at her watch.
(CONTINUED)

6. CONTINUED: 5.
MADDIE
Shit.
She runs out her room and then we see her run back in
holding a full boots bag. She puts it down and we see there
is make up inside.
INT. MADDIE’S ROOM. DAY.
Alarm clock goes off Maddie smacks it off. Make over
sequence. We see her put contact lenses in, pierces her
nose, fake tans, straightens her hair (badly), puts fake
eyelashes on, make up and change of clothes and puts on high
heels. We don’t see her whole body for the whole sequence.
EXT. MEETING POINT. DAY
We see Aden sitting there waiting again, Maddie’s body comes
into frame. Aden stands up and they start walking towards
each other.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
Oh my
ADEN (VOICEOVER)
God
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
I can’t believe
They get close and stop infront of each other.
ADEN
It’s you.
We see her beautiful new self. She looks at him and
awkwardly smiles.
MADDIE
Surprise.
ADEN
Maddie, you look so wow.. your
hair’s so wow.. and your clothes
are so wow.
MADDIE
Lets go for a walk and you can find
some more adjectives.
They walk off.

7. 6.
INT. MADDIE’S ROOM NIGHT
Maddie runs into her rooms really happily. She lies down on
her bed and takes a huge breath with a massive grin on her
face. We hear her get a text message. She looks at her
phone.
ADEN (TEXT MESSAGE)
Hey I had a really great day today
lets hang out again soon.
MONTAGE SEQUENCE.
We see there relationship grow by dating in different
places. We see them in coffee shops, restaurants, bedrooms,
cinema, and park. From the park the montage stops and goes
to normal time.
EXT. PARK. DAY.
We see them lying in the grass holding hands.
MADDIE
Your so different to how I always
thought you were.
Aden looks at her and smiles and gives her a kiss. He’s
lying on his side and we see his friends in the distance,
they see him but don’t see Maddie.
FRIEND 1
(shouts)
Oi Aden you wana come play
football?
Aden sits up quickly.
ADEN
Shit hide.
MADDIE
What?
ADEN
Hide!
MADDIE
Why, are you embarrased of me?
(CONTINUED)

8. CONTINUED: 7.
ADEN
No it’s just that..
MADDIE
You know what I take that back you
haven’t changed at all.
She gets up and leaves in a mood, at first she’s angry but
it turns to sadness.
FRIEND 2
Who was that?
Aden sighs and walks off in other direction. Friends look
confused.
EXT. STREET. DAY.
Maddie’s running home looking really upset.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
What was I thinking, I always knew
he was an arsehole. Boys like that
never go for girls like me.
INT. MADDIE’S ROOM. DAY.
Jumps onto her bed crying, goes to her mirror and takes
makeup off.
EXT. COURTYARD AT SCHOOL. DAY
2 weeks later. We see Maddie walking through the school
gates holding her books (exactly like the beginning). People
are staring at her.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
Back to square one. Everyone still
stares at me but not because I’m
the weird girl who’s best friends
with her dog, but because I broke
the heart of the most popular boy
in school.
She walks past his friends, they stare at each other but
don’t trip her up.
MADDIE (VOICEOVER)
At least one things changed.

9. 8.
INT. MADDIE’S ROOM. NIGHT.
She’s on her computer. Her doorbell rings and she runs
downstairs opens the door and sees a no one there, just a
packet of bubblegum on the floor with a post it note on top
of it saying "still rememeber your favourite flavour". She
picks it up goes back upstairs and sits at her computer.
FOOTBALL_BOY
I rly miss u Maddie.
She ignores it.
FOOTBALL_BOY
I’m an idiot any boy wud b lucky 2
have u :(
She takes a deep breath, looks at ruby who encourages her,
looks back at the computer.
BUBBLEGUM_GIRL
Same time same place. But don’t
think I’ve forgiven you, we need to
talk.
EXT. MEETING POINT. DAY.
Aden’s sitting there quietly, looks sad. We see Maddie
dressed as her old self walking up to him she sits down next
to him.
ADEN
I’m sorry Maddie, I was an idiot,
all this time I’ve been trying to
be some one I’m not and I lost the
best thing I ever had as a result.
MADDIE
What was that?
ADEN
You..
MADDIE
Well how can I trust you Aden, you
embarrassed me.
ADEN
I’ll make it up to you.
(CONTINUED)

10. CONTINUED: 9.
MADDIE
Prove it.
Aden puts out his hand for her to hold it.
EXT. COURTYARD AT SCHOOL. DAY
We see them walking through the gates of school hand in
hand. Fade to black.
