About fashion
 Fashion is an expression of inner self.
 Fashion means evolution and is constantly progressing.
 Fashion means art and true creative artistic expression.
 Fashion is an art form that brings beauty to the world.
 Fashion means style and quality.
 Fashion is for everyone, regardless of the budget.
 You are unique and creative, extravagant and simple, fashion is
like a beautiful paradox.
 Fashion helps you to express yourself, to reveal your
personality in a pleasant and unique way.
 Your clothes can show to people who you are without much
effort.
 The right fashion can changes your life for the good.
Overview
What skills do fashion designers need ?
 Appreciation for beauty.
 Eye for color.
 Artistic skills.
 Knowledge about fabrics, styles and colors.
 Excellent communication skills.
 Good problem-solving skills.
Scope of fashion design.
 Today it is a status symbol to wear garments and accessories designed
by renowned designers. Because of this, the demand for professional
Fashion Designers is on the rise. One who has done a course in
Fashion Designing will never be short of work opportunities. One can
join as an assistant to a well-known Fashion Designer. One can also
freelance as an accessory designer for a domestic company or an
export house. Alternately, one can become self-employed by setting up
a designer boutique of one’s own. The prospects increase in this field
with increase in experience.
Experience in fashion designing
 Experience can play an important role in our career as a fashion designer.
 Meridian has well trained us because people with a certain amount of practical training or experience are usually
preferred over those who have no experience. So, it’s necessary that we have received some kind of practical
training in fashion.
 Meridian Academy of Design has made me build a strong foundation in terms of design sense,
 Independent research, creative application and individual artistic expression.
 During the course duration of diploma programmed I had exposure towards practical working in Fashion Design

PRIMARY COLORS
RED, YELLOW & BLUE
In traditional color theory (used in paint and
pigments), primary colors are the 3 pigment
colors that cannot be mixed or formed by any
combination of other colors. All other colors are
derived from these 3 hues
SECONDERY COLORS

These are the colors formed by mixing the primary
colors.
Primary Colors + Primary Colors = Secondary

Primary colors + Secondary colors = Tertiary colors
TINTS
A Tint is sometimes called a Pastel .Basically it’s
simply any color with white added. A tint is
lighter than the original color. So for example a
brig t Red can quickly become a bright Pink
SHADE
A Shade is simply any color with black
added. A shade is darker than the
original color.
Just as with making tints, you can mix
any of the twelve pure colors together.
Then simply add any amount of black
and you have created a shade of the
mixture.
TONE
A Tone is created by adding both White and Black
which is GRAY. Any color that is “grey down” is
considered a Tone. Tones are so me how more
pleasing to the eye. A tone is a softer than the original.

DRAPPING
Draping is a method of patternmaking for fashion
design that permits free and accurate expression of
ideas as the designer works.
It is a three-dimensional process of designing. In a
way, draping may be compared to the building of a

MIRROR WORK
Mirror work that hails from Gujarat, Rajasthan,
Haryana and Odisha (Orissa) are similar though
distinguishable, as each state produces mirror work
with its own unique style. Originally, pieces of mica
were used as the mirrors, but later, people started
using thin blown-glass pieces, hence the name,
