TIE&DYE
39. Here is my project during my learning process in collage I got a case study in which I have to design an ethnic garment( TENT
FOUNDATION DRESS ) it is specified that we have to use TIE & DYE for creating surface interest . Show front, back and side
view if necessary.
As par the case study I’ am very much clear about what to make and which surface design technique I have the choose .
So the next step is to do market research on tie & dye and than for tent foundation dress its silhouette, color, sleeves, other
surface embellishment if I use to making it more ethnic.
CASE STUDY
43. Shibori A Form Of Tie-dye Which Originated In Japan And Indonesia .It Has Been
Practiceced There Since The 8thcenrury .Shibori Includes A Number Of Laber
Intensive Resist Techniques Which Include Stitching Elaborate Patterns And Tightly
Gathering The Stitching Before Dyeing .Forming Intricate Designs For Kimonos .
Another Shibori Method Is To Wrap The Fabric Around A Core Of Rope ,Wood Or
Other Material ,And Bind It Tightly With String Or Thread. The Areas Of The Fabric
That Are Against The Core Or Under The Binding Would Remain Undyed.
To make patterns on cloth by tying knots in it or tying part of it with strings before
putting it in a dye , so that only parts of the fabric receive the dye
This Pattern Is Mokume Shibori Technique .. Mokume Means ( Wood grain )
