There Will Be Blood Analysis
The movie There Will Be Blood was released January 25, 2008. It was directed by Paul Thomas
Anderson, and the screenwriter was also Paul Thomas Anderson. The important actors in the movie
are Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Dano and Dillon Freaser. Throughout the story it is obvious that the
goal is money, but it is the experiences leading up to the money that make viewers evaluate the main
characters intentions with the relationships that are created. In There Will Be Blood, the audience
should expect a blood–filled drama. A major cliché is knowing that the main character's greed will
lead him to screwing over his son. He completely abandons his child, and eventually sends his boy
away to focus on his oil rigs for money. Also, there's a scene when the main character's son is sitting
over a platform watching a man drill oil and suddenly it explodes, throwing the boy into the air and
blowing his eardrums making him deaf. In the plot, the main ... Show more content on

The film kept me interested, and there was always a motive behind someone's actions. Figuring
these motives out was not always simple, so it allowed you to always think twice about the meaning
of actions or phrases. Demographically, the movie would interest mature audiences that would
understand it. The film is more complex and hard to grasp at times, because you have to read
between the lines to keep up with the characters. I watched the whole movie and did not even notice
that there was not any black people and I am black, so I do not believe it was anything that was
meant to be a discrimination. In that in that time period if you were to add black people into the
movie another topic opened that did not pertain to the story. I would recommend this movie because
it was a good story and had a good plot to it, but i would wait until it came out on DVD. I
recommend waiting because it is not a movie that you would want to watch with many

There Will be Blood was released in 2007. The director and the screenwriter was by Paul Thomas

Dillon Freasier. I would say this movie really set the tone for the American dream, even though it
wasn't really thought of during the movie's time period. It really shows hard work, greed, lust, and
trickery. Overall this is a good movie, with a very slow start. It is filled with drama, mystery, and
action. If you are for those kinds of films this movie is right up your alley. This movie is more of an
action, drama, and mystery film. You never know what will be happening next. The film is filled

Stanley Kubbrick Influence
Stanley Kubrick was born in New York City on July 26, 1928 and grew up in the Bronx, where his
father and mother, Jacques Kubrick and Sadie Kubrick. Stanley Kubrick never was in sync with his
school. In elementary school, he had a poor attendance record. In high school, he was considered a
social outcast and the ideal underachiever, his status in his class was near the bottom, in spite of his
intellect.
Kubrick's younger years, he was motivated to either become a writer or an athlete. He was looking
for movies that inspired him instead of focusing on his academics. In high school, Kubrick played
the drums in his jazz band, which also included Eydie Gorme as the vocalist. Kubrick also showed

Anderson who has made four post–2000 films that are genius in their own way: Punch Love Drunk
with Adam Sandler, There Will Be Blood with Daniel Day–Lewis; The Master with Philip Seymour
Hoffman, and The Big Lebowski with Jeff Bridges. His courageous Steadicame one shots, passion
with obsession, and flattering of impending disagreement with The Master is where Kubrick's
influence is most felt.
Christopher Nolan is the last director mentioned. Nolan is addressed as a cinematic messiah, the
savior of the superhero genre, and around the release of Inception, the new Kubrick. The most recent
films Nolan has released were, The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Prestige, Inception and Interstellar
which are known by their smart plotting, twists and unique internal logics.
Nolan's films have a genre–hopping superiority, his characters are all fanatics, and his film's plots
and descriptions are refined to systematic accuracy. Heath Ledger's Joker pulled off one of the most
iconic Kubrick Stares in modern cinema. While more interested in crowd–pleasing scene similar to
classic Spielberg or Hitchcock, the Kubrick inspiration is definitely the most present in Nolan's

Theme Of Death And The Miser
The theme we created for Death and the Miser is "Forgiveness overrules your mistakes." Everyone
in life makes mistakes but it's the forgiveness you get afterwards that counts. This theme applies to
my groups' story of Death and the Miser in many ways. An example would be when the Miser steals
the indulgences and sells them for his own profit; the church later on forgives him for what he had
done. I chose the movie Magnolia directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and the novel The Last Song
written by Nicholas Sparks to demonstrate my theme for my version of Death and the Miser. My
first genre that I have chosen is a movie. The movie that applies to my theme is Magnolia directed
by Paul Thomas Anderson. I found this movie on the website InspiredGroup.com.

Elements Of Mise-En Scene In Boogie Nights
In the film, Boogie Nights, the director, Paul Thomas Anderson utilizes elements of mise–en–scene
such as the natural acting and impressive use of space, with engrossing shot choice and complex
camera movement in his cinematography as he brings the audience into the atmospheric, realistic,
and vibrant world of the 1970s. This is displayed effectively in the film's fantastic opening tracking
shot.
The opening scene of Boogie Nights is very ambitious as its goal is to introduce us to the time
period and the many characters that inhabit the world of the film. The scene opens in 1977 at the
Hot Traxx Disco in the San Fernando Valley. Right from the opening, the film just captures the
zeitgeist of the time. The culture is underlined by the costumes. In the 1970s, clothing considered
fashionable was such things as bell–bottoms, flares, platform shoes, disco suits, and ete. They are
specifically seen in the background when Jack is driving to the nightclub. This is further shown in
the nightclub where everyone is dressed very fashionably. Moreover, there is a significance and
meaning to the costume design. The costumes dictate what roles these people had. A prime example
of this is in the background, which shows how men and women were portrayed in society. The
waiters are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He takes all these things like the mise–en–scene of the accurate costumes, with the naturalistic
acting that the ensemble cast carries. His use of movement and space is just amazing in terms of
how he was able to handle all these characters and the sleekness of Elswit's camerawork. The
lighting helps further that style. His framing is out of this world because he manages to do all these
tasks in just one shot without a single edit. His sounds and more specifically, his use of "Best of My
Love" then wrap it by being realistic and never really taking us out of the film. Overall, Anderson
has created an ambitious and impressive moment in

There Will Be Blood Character Analysis
"There Will Be Blood" is an exciting film made in 2007. The director and screenwriter of this movie
is Paul Thomas Anderson. He based his movie off of a novel called "Oil" written by Upton Sinclair.
Some well–known actors star in this movie, some such as: Daniel Day–Lewis who plays a
successful oil driller known as Daniel Plainview, Dillon Freasier who plays the orphan son of Daniel
Plainview, HW, and Paul Dano who plays a pair of twins named Eli and Paul Sunday. I'd have to say
in this film you should expect to see more of a tragic drama. Daniel Plainview in this movie is a
very intelligent man that knows how to get what he wants in a very convincing way. Don't perceive
him as the man that he portrays to be! The constant twists and turns in this movie will have you on
the edge of your seat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are some scenes where the plot or setting doesn't change for a very long time which might
lose the focus of some viewers. Daniel Plainview, played by Day–Lewis, is the main character who
uses his manipulative ways to try and persuade people into his way on how to do things. H.W.,
played by Dillon Freasier, is the son of Daniel and is used as the "cute face" in Daniels operations.
Eli Sunday, played by Paul Dano, is a pastor at a small church located in his town, but sometimes
uses his religious views to get his way on certain things. The old fashioned houses, and drilling
equipment reveals that this film takes place in the early 1900s. The movie will periodically jump
forward in time to show the progress Daniel has made with drilling. I think the overall purpose for
making this film is to show how things might have been in the earlier 1900s and how people dealt

Being God Sent For The Gospel Of Jesus Christ
being God sent for the gospel of Jesus Christ, one's identity in Jesus Christ, and being made a
disciple. Each is a demonstration of God accepting His people as being unworthy to be worthy for
His glory. It is a blessing to be a designer original, because it resembles His image. It is in his image
a person observes the spirit of holiness and the righteousness of God. The theology of preaching
helps a person to recognizes the owner of the breath of life dwelling in one's body. Likewise, God is
willing to restore and revive those that have lost their lives to the secular world. God controls all
matters of life. It is the individual choice to be made over by God. God is willing to shape, mold,
and fill those purposing to surrender their all before Him. God is to be worshipped, praise, and
glorified within a person's body. Therefore, the role of preaching in ministry begins with self–
examination and accountability to rightly divide the word of truth before God, not pleasing man, (2
Tim. 4:1–5, ESV). The passage of the Scriptures is clearly emphasizing the charges to Timothy as
well as other church leaders. The author, Thomas Hale writes, "Paul gave five charges, preach the
word, that is the gospel Jesus Christ, be prepared at all times, remain on duty; correct, rebuke and
encourage." Hale continues to write, "Timothy must preach the Gospel diligently, because the time
will come when men will not accept the truth. People will listen only to what is interesting to them

International Relations : The Domestic And The International
International relations are often conceptualized as interactions between clearly delineated nation–
states. In this globalizing world, however, transnational actors are playing an increasingly larger
part. Diasporic communities hold significant political clout within their adopted lands, as well as
their home countries. Accordingly, several scholars have strived to break away from that traditional
dichotomy: the domestic versus the international. Expanding on Robert Putnam's theory of
international negotiations as a two–level process (in which politicians must simultaneously please
their domestic constituency and the foreign states they are negotiating with), Yossi Shain and
Tamara Coffman Wittes refer to a "three–level game". Diasporas are distinct from the hostland as
well as the homeland, existing in a third space that confers them with unique political agency. To
Shain and Wittes, "diasporas cannot be viewed simply as a domestic constituency within their host
state but must also be viewed as independent actors in the conflict resolution process" (Shain &
Wittes, 172). This distinction is particularly significant in light of the fact that the interests of a
diasporic community are not always perfectly aligned with those of the residents of the homeland:
Shain and Wittes argue that the primary value of the homeland within the diaspora consciousness is
its symbolic power to convey and preserve identity – in contrast to those who live in the homeland,
who may have more

Punch-Drunk Love
Over Independence Day weekend, I had some free time so I decided to watch a movie. I narrowed it
down between two choices, "Life Itself" – which I eventually went with and loved – and "There Will
Be Blood." One of the reasons I chose "Life Itself" was that I hadn't seen a Paul Thomas Anderson
movie before and I was hesitant to jump in with one of his most recent films, which many would
consider his masterpiece. I wanted a warm–up, so I watched PTA's 2002 film "Punch–Drunk Love."
I am now more excited to take on more of his filmography, but also a little worried.
"Punch–Drunk Love" is a character study focusing on Barry Egan, a troubled man who sells novelty
goods like fun plungers. Egan has seven domineering and emotionally abusive sisters ... Show more

This music, with the harmonium playing in several tracks, is one of the most unique scores I have
ever heard. It does a great job at enhancing some of the tenser scenes, such as the aforementioned
three–way conversation. It falters some, however, when it becomes more conventional moments,
such as the romantic encounters. The normality of it feels out of place given the movie and what the
score has sounded like so far.
Although I liked these elements for the most part, I did have some problems with "Punch–Drunk
Love," and I think some of the blame lies with PTA's screenplay. My biggest issue was I found the
oddity of the film off–putting. As you could probably tell from my plot synopsis, this is a weird film
in myriad ways. Due to this strangeness, I found that I couldn't engage with the story or characters
(who are bizarre in their own right) because I could not identify with them as much.
A lesser problem of the movie is the chemistry between Sandler and Watson. They have decent
chemistry, but Sandler doesn't quite sell their relationship enough to convince me of its authenticity.
Moreover, I never understood why Watson's character would fall for Barry. He's a bland, weird
person. They initial encounters do have something of a spark, and I totally get why Barry is into her,
but I saw no reason for her to

Analysis Of Paul Thomas Anderson's Film 'Magnolia'
After viewing and an examination of one of Paul Thomas Anderson success film 'Magnolia', I have
analysed that Anderson uses multiple themes involving regret and loneliness in the film which is
connected to auteur theory. What I am going to examine is: How were the themes and the characters
are related? How did Anderson's film techniques affect in the film? And why did Anderson use his
similar style within the film? These questions are to give an understanding that focuses mainly on
auteur theory in the film.
The film takes place in San Fernando Valley where it revolves around eleven characters about their
stories in one particular day. These stories have a little connection with each other as it involves

Along with the rising population is always a strain on the environment. This has been true about
agriculture for hundreds of years. Without the oil, the town would not have grown to be
agriculturally fit.
The oil industry was a new industry in the setting of the film. However a few times throughout we
see causalities in the workplace, including the deafening of Plainview's son H.W. Because the
industry was new it was not regulated. For the various depictions in the film are why regulation is
vital today. The accidents in the movie are the results for laws like the Occupational Safety and
Health Act. This law ensures that all employees are subject to safe working conditions. The oil
industry is not the only reasons for this law, it covers a lot of industries health and safety rules.
Various administrations would make sure equipment is safe enough so we can avoid accidents like
the ones that happened in the wells to the men. When Oil is burned so we can use it for energy it

Analysis Of Magnolia By Paul Thomas Anderson
Magnolia directed and written by Paul Thomas Anderson is a truly memorable film which digs deep
down to the bone on how harsh life is sometimes. As the film unfolded the ideas of forgiveness,
death, chance, and destiny all interconnects and create the story that is Magnolia. One notable theme
throughout the movie is the relationship with parents. This really hit home with me because
personally, I feel like parents really shape and mold a child with their own actions and personalities.
This could be good for the child, but could lead to a life filled with pain and loneliness. In Magnolia
it becomes aware that there are a downfall of fathers. Earl Partridge, Jimmy Gator, and Rick Spector
all fathers who have placed a burden on their children.
Earl Partridge a man on his deathbed is taking his final breaths, only to be slowly eaten away from
the guilt left of his conscience. The reason being, Earl abandoned his wife, cheated on her and left
his son to take care of her when she had cancer. This act Earl committed could never be forgotten
and his son, Frank is deeply affected by it. Growing up without the proper love and only knowing
the pain he masks his emotional stress by having casual sex with women. By doing this in Frank 's
mind it compensates for the lack of parental love he didn 't have in his childhood. While he could
not control his childhood, Frank changes that and takes control of everything even women. As a

Auteurs Film Analysis
The idea of auteurship is one that is surrounded by the domineering presence of the white male, with
little exception: a simple Google search of "film auteurs" produces thousands of results of websites
listing off the likes of Paul Thomas Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and David
Lynch. However, one early female filmmaker–who, like too many other important women of the
past, has been mostly buried by history–stands above the rest. Often viewed in the same regard as
male contemporaries such as D. W. Griffith, Lois Weber used her platform as a universally
acclaimed creator (at the time) to make socially conscious films that advocated the underprivileged.
Although her works are heavily influenced by her belief in Christian charity, they never seem to

and Hop, The Devil's Brew, respectively). Despite these decidedly solemn moral topics, Weber
possessed a deft talent for tempering her serious mission with the understanding that entertainment
is necessary to convey that point. For example, aside from exposing "the blot" on society caused by
underpaying educators and clergy members, The Blot also has a sense of humor–shown mostly
through snarky title cards– as well as scenes of suspense (such as Mrs. Griggs attempting to steal a

The Tutsi never gave up; on October 1st they crossed the border and headed to the capital and were

The crime and punishment Rwanda experienced played a huge factor during the genocide. In fact, in
1992 political organizations affiliated President Habyarimana for two militias . The militias were
involved in the killing of more than two thousand civilians, mostly Tutsi tribe members Nearly one
hundred and forty thousand people were imprisoned as suspected investigators and participants in

this allows local communities to judge and try any suspects ("Rwanda"). Soon, RPF invaded on

Many outside observers particularly Western countries like britain and the US thought the main
reason for the violence was tribal warfare or tribalism (Nardo 27). Some formed death squads that

The Pornography Of The Porn Industry In The Teens
What a surprise to find out that the film I choose for a college midterm portrayed the porn industry
in the 1970s. To say I was shocked would be an understatement and when I first started watching
this movie, I didn't know if I could confront this no–no subject. However, after a little soul
searching, I realized that society told me as a woman not to talk about porn and so here I am writing
a four–page midterm on "Boogie Nights", a film set in the 1970s Fernando Valley. The movie tells
the story of a 17–year–old boy's adventure from abusive mother to award winner porn actor and the
artistry behind a seemingly dirty subject. "Boogie Nights" was written and directed by Paul Thomas
Anderson, also known for other masterpieces such as "There will be Blood", "Magnolia", and "The

happens to be the film's 20th birthday. Is there a better way to celebrate than tearing it apart piece by
piece for academic purposes? I think not. With the rolling in of the 1970s came a huge expansion of
pornography in the United States. The industry went from "an underground cottage to an open,
aggressive $2 billion–a–year industry." (Time magazine) The porn industry had a long history of
criminal investigation and persecution in previous decades. However, the court system lost its
authority and power over porn filmmakers, and they went wild. "Boogie Nights" is a film that

There are many aspects that go into the art of filmmaking. Almost everything that the audience
experiences in a film has significance in one way or another. Filmmakers use specific components in
order to express thoughts and ideas through their work. These fundamentals of filmmaking typically
contribute towards meaning. Audiences can draw multiple different meanings from a film, as
everyone interprets things in their own way; but ultimately an overall implicit meaning can be
understood by drawing attention to the techniques utilized by the filmmakers. This is true of the film
Punch Drunk Love, written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. This playfully twisted romantic

This establishes the idea that Barry is comfortable blending in with his surroundings in order to
avoid standing out. It is the first demonstration of the character's anti–social tendencies. This is also
displayed by Barry's framing in the long shot. He is positioned in the furthest corner of the room,
giving a sense that his life is confined and isolated. The shadows on the right of the frame advance
this idea of confinement by constructing the shot to make his office look almost like a cave, in
which he feels most comfortable. Barry crosses the frame to walk towards the shadow, which
eventually fills the screen with blackness until he opens the door to exit his office. This shot presents
the idea that the outside world is very different from the safety of Barry's cave. The second shot adds
to this notion, as Barry immediately witnesses a brutal car crash as soon as he walks outside.
Whenever he leaves the safety of his comfort zone, danger presents itself. This sequence does its job
to categorize the main character as someone who does not seem capable of normal social
interaction. This meaning that he is also incapable of love, or is too consumed with anxiety to look
for it. The cinematography in these preliminary shots set up meaning for the rest of the film. They
do not establish the idea that Barry will soon fall in love, but instead show a person that is on the
opposite spectrum and completely engaged by

How Did Martin Scorsese Influence American Films
With hits such as Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, and The Departed, Martin Scorsese has become one of the
most influential American film directors and screenwriters of our generation. Born in New York City
in 1942, Scorsese has always wanted to work in film. His love of films helped him to create brilliant
works of art all throughout his career. His films have won many academy awards and BAFTA

personal influence into his storytelling are what makes him incredibly unique compared to the rest
of the world's directors. He got an early start into film because he had asthma as a kid and couldn't

with the cinema. He Graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He
started out with short films, then worked his way up to his first feature film, Who's That Knocking at

There Will Be Blood Film Review
There will be blood was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson who also was the screenwriter. Some of
the actors include Daniel Day–Lewis who plaid Daniel Plainview, Paul Dano who played both Eli
Sunday and his twin brother Paul Sunday, and Hans Howes who played Mr. Bandy. Over all the
movie was well scripted and the actors played their parts very well and made the movie very
realistic. Although there were some parts to the movie I didn't find very appealing I would definitely
recommend this movie to friends and family.
What viewers can expect from this film is quite a bit of drama and yes just like the title inferred
there will be blood. But other than the few deaths the film is quite dramatic with Daniel competing
with the big oil companies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think he did a phenomenal job playing Daniel Plainview because he really got into his role and
made his character very believable and he seemed to take his role quite seriously. I also think that
his performance made movie what it is now because again he took his role very seriously and it
showed because to me it made the movie very realistic and gritty because right from the start we can
see some of the problems Daniel deals with and how he acts in general. Also I do not think that any
other actor could have played Daniel the way Day–Lewis did and if they tried the movie wouldn't

The Grapes Of Wrath By John Steinbeck Essay
John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath and Paul Thomas Anderson's There Will Be Blood both
explore the concept of the human condition and the qualities undermining the circumstances of our
sentient through the gripping lives of the two leading protagonists. John Steinbeck explores Tom
Joad as the main protagonist in The Grapes of Wrath and connects his character with the audience
through his significantly adjuring transformation from 'ex–con' to selfless family man throughout
the text. Inversely, Paul Thomas Anderson explores Daniel Plainview as the main protagonist in
There Will Be Blood and connects his character with the audience through unquestionable
toughness and a considerable, enthralling transformation from imposing businessman to selfish
psychopath. Similarly, these two texts are based in times of hardship, The Grapes of Wrath is fixed
during the great depression and There Will Be Blood is set during the early 1900's when mining was
difficult. The two authors use the hardships of their main protagonist to demonstrate the different
ways in which humans can become affected by the pathway chosen regarding feeling and emotion.
Through the complexity of the two main protagonists, the authors make direct opinions toward the
human condition and the ability to change persona through risky decisions and family influence.
The opening few scenes in each text describes the persona of each main protagonist and perfectly
represents the qualities they already posses. Anderson

The separation of powers in the Constitution
Separation of powers is the division of political authority that gives a system of checks and balances
to make sure that no solitary branch turn out to be excessively infringes or powerful on the rights of
the citizens ( Gray, Kenneth, et.al 2005). The term separation of powers or 'trias politica' was formed
by Charles–Louis de Secondat, baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu, an 18th century French
political and social philosopher. "Spirit of the Laws" is one of his publications and considered as one
of the tremendous works in the history of and jurisprudence and, political theory; it inspired the
Declaration of the Rights of the Constitution and Man and of the United States (Anderson, Gordon
L.2004). Under his model, the political authority of the state is separated into legislative, executive
as well judicial powers. He declared that, to most efficiently promote liberty, these three powers
have to be dividing and acting independently.
Therefore, separation of powers refers to the distribution of government tasks and responsibilities
into diverse branches to limit any one branch from exercising the essential functions of another. The
objective is to prevent the concentration of power and give for checks and balances.
The usual characterizations of the powers of the branches are:
* The legislative branch is responsible for issuing the laws of the state and

Visual Pleasure And Narrative Cinema
Laura Mulvey argues in her essay, "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema", that voyeurism has
associations with sadism which relies on a linear story in which events happen that force a change in
another character via a battle, a verbal dispute, or in general a victory or a defeat, etc. This topic
stood out to me because voyeurism aligned with sadism is something that we can see in several
films; the main character kills an enemy, a witty conversation leaves another character duped, etc.
While watching movies we tend to derive pleasure from seeing characters that we relate to interact
in a way that puts them in charge of the situation. By analyzing moments from a film with this topic
in mind we are able to understand the way certain scenes function in a different light.
There Will Be Blood (Paul Thomas Anderson, USA, 2007) is a movie about self–made oil tycoon
Daniel Plainview (Daniel Day–Lewis) and his son H.W. (Dillion Freasier), and their journey to drill
for oil near the Western town of Little Boston. Blood represents powerful forces in life throughout
the film such as wealth, childbirth, and death. Oil is seen as the blood of the land that is extracted
and sold for profit and is used by people in everyday life, childbirth is a powerful life force that
draws or distances characters to each other (Daniel and his son), and bloodshed through murder is a
means in which Daniel Plainview uses against his adversaries in a sadistic way to rise to power.

Anderson's No-Blinking
For the 'light a scene' assignment it was decided to recreate the lighting from a scene in Paul Thomas
Anderson's: 'The Master'. The infamous 'No–Blinking' scene focuses on the processing of Freddy
Quell (Joaquin Phoenix) by 'The Master' (Phillip Seymour Hoffman). It mimics the style of an
interegation with its minimal lighting, which may appear as simple yet extremely effective in
creating a ominous atmosphere throughout the scene.
The 'No–Blinking' scene is extremely similar to an interrogation and this is refelcted in the lighting
(See Fig 1).To create this feeling the scene relies upon lighting empahises on the face contrasted
with the heavy shadows in the background (See Fig 2 & 3). Overall, with this lighting this focus is

The allure of the scene was that the lighting in the scene placed strong emphasis on the face yet it
was so heavily contrasted against the background of the scene. However, recreating the lighing did
prove to be more challanging than expected. A single LED light was placed to the subjects side but
it was noticed that only one side of the fact was lit, while the other side was in complete shadows.
Compared to the refrence scene it was noticed that while the actor did have one side that was in
shade, there is a slight hitting the side of the nose and cheenk. While a fill light was considered, it
was ultimately decided to use a bouncer to relect the existing LED light to the side of the face. As
the results from the use of a bouncer created a visually striking light on the subject, it was also
deciced to incoporate the use of a second bouncer (See Fig 5–8). With this one, the LED light was
faced the opposite direction to the subject onto a bouncer, which relfected the light back onto the
subject (See Fig 9). Ulimately, with the use of a single LED light and two bouncers, the 'No–
Blinking' scene from Paul Thomas Andersons 'The Master' was able to be successfully recreated

The film techniques he uses in most of his films is symmetry, the whip pan and the steadicam. In
'Magnolia', the steadicam was used when Stanley, the quiz kid is guided through the TV studio. It
lasted for about three minutes. This technique was used to show the characters interaction within the
studio. Compare to 'Hard Eight', Anderson uses his steadicam to follow Sydney, a man in his 60s'
walking in the casino, where you are not only focus on him but you see the other characters
interactions in the background. The symmetry shot was used when two people are talking to each
other in their opposite sides. In 'Magnolia', we can see Frank and the woman interviewer talking to
each other in their opposite sides, hence it's called a symmetry shot. Anderson used this shot to
create a sense of tranquility but also a sense of anxiety of the characters. The famous whip pan
technique that Anderson used in 'Magnolia' creates an effective fast–paced atmosphere as he uses the

riches as an American businessman. "There Will Be Blood" is a drama, but could also be classified
as a thriller. The clichés vary. Daniel being the character he is, creates many clichés. For example he

He doesn't change one bit throughout the story. Daniel lives his life one lie at a time. The only object
Daniel cares about is money. His goal from beginning to end is to be on top with more wealth. In the
beginning he uses his fake son to get property and make himself look innocent. Daniel is just as
greedy as Eugene Krabs. During the explosion scene, Daniel doesn't give any thought into the well–
being of H.W., but cares greatly about his money burning right in front of his money craving eyes.
Daniel uses a church into receiving more money and even then he doesn't change. In the end Daniel
seems scared and angry at the thought of H.W. leaving him. I believe he is scared he will lose
money without H.W., this leaves him with a ball of anger and telling H.W. the truth. A major trait of
Daniel is being egotistic, this trait helps him be the successful businessman he is. Daniel Day–Lewis
played the role of Daniel Plainview brilliantly. I don't believe he could have played it any better. He
played the role with dark pride and approached every scene with fire. His eyes stay focused with
hunger in every scene. Then maybe superstition takes over and he just played the role so well

Thomas Edison: The Wizard of Menlo Park
One of the world's greatest inventors, Thomas Edison, once said "Opportunity is missed by most

According to Sarris, "The second premise of the auteur theory is the distinguishable personality of
the director as a criterion of value. Over a group of films, a director must exhibit certain recurrent
characteristics of style, which serves as his signature. The way a film looks and moves should have
some relationship to the way a director thinks and feels." (Sarris, 1962). Anderson uses his similar
style in other films, including 'Magnolia' because as an auteur director creates films with their
unique signature, it makes the audiences to naturally recognize their work. His unique signature acts
as his personality to focus on recurring themes within his work. The theme he usually used in most
of his films deals with regret and loneliness, this includes 'Magnolia' as well as his other films like
'Hard Eight', 'Boogie Nights' and 'There Will Be Blood'. Another style in his films is his film

The Importance Of Democracy : The Best Form Of Government
Democracy, typically through elected representatives, is a "government of the people, by the people,
for the people", as once stated by former U.S President Abraham Lincoln. It is true that visionary
leaders in an autocratic regime can accomplish much, such as introducing government policies
quickly without legislative and judicial constraints. However, a democracy is always the best form
of government. To address this aim, I will be doing an analysis of how democracies use the
liberation of personal freedoms to protect citizens from the possibility of living an interminable
amount of time in a self–interested regime.
Our identities are important in determining what we think of ourselves and others. Thus, it is
important to make sure that the basis of one's identity, such as moral values and religion, does not
intrude on the individuality of another. In a dictatorship, citizens cannot enjoy a variety of rights that
citizens in democracies take for granted. An important feature of a democracy requires "free speech,
free press and free assembly" (Kotler, 2016). For example, a democracy has yet to experience a
famine because issues regarding people starving would get publicized by the media, in which
citizens would vote out the leader putting them at risk of starvation. We are able to choose the
government that promotes our growth as a nation. Every type of regime has a selectorate: in a
democracy, every eligible voter is a member of the selectorate because each has a vote

The scene of the explosion Daniel's colors really show. When he leaves his child to attend to the fire
is acceptable, to a degree. Near the end of the scene Daniel is shown yelling at one of his employees,
asking them what is there worry when there is a world of oil beneath their feet. Daniel is more
worried about the oil than his son who has been hurt. H.W. is a quiet reserved kid who knows more
than his father. H.W. is that cliché kid who finds a secret about another character and tries to save
his father from trouble, but gets in trouble himself. Dillon Freasier plays the younger version of
H.W. well. He has very little lines, but his acting covers for his lack of dialogue. Paul Sunday is
almost like the Joker. When I think about Paul I remember him as the guy who pops up at the right
time and is meticulously planning something. Paul is the kind of character who gives you a chance
to prove yourself, but when you fail he immediately knows how to take you down. When Paul leads
Daniel's repentances, it is his payback, for when Daniel passed over his blessing and smashed his
face into oil. The acting done by Paul Dano is outstanding, he does a good job with letting the

The opening scene of the movie was Daniel Plainview in a almost completely dark mine shaft. Him
always being in shadows shows that he is a dark character. One of the few times he is fully lit in the
movie is when he is in Eli's church confessing that he abandoned his child. The film mostly uses
music in serious situations. The beginning of the film there is no dialogue and no music at all. The
character of H.W Plainview was an indirect character because he didn't do much for himself. He was
a dynamic character because at the beginning he loved his father very much, but at the end of the
film he is trying to get away from him. A main trait of his was staying quiet. He knew his father was
ripping people off, but stayed and acted a face for Daniel to buy land with. I did not like the film
because the plot was uninteresting to me and it was a dark film. The opening was very unclear, there
was no dialogue, and the viewer was made to guess what was happening. People who like drama
would probably enjoy the movie for the ending and the acting of Daniel Day–Lewis. I would not go
see the movie in theaters. I would only watch this movie if I was bored at

There Will Be Blood Analysis

  • 1. There Will Be Blood Analysis The movie There Will Be Blood was released January 25, 2008. It was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, and the screenwriter was also Paul Thomas Anderson. The important actors in the movie are Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Dano and Dillon Freaser. Throughout the story it is obvious that the goal is money, but it is the experiences leading up to the money that make viewers evaluate the main characters intentions with the relationships that are created. In There Will Be Blood, the audience should expect a blood–filled drama. A major cliché is knowing that the main character's greed will lead him to screwing over his son. He completely abandons his child, and eventually sends his boy away to focus on his oil rigs for money. Also, there's a scene when the main character's son is sitting over a platform watching a man drill oil and suddenly it explodes, throwing the boy into the air and blowing his eardrums making him deaf. In the plot, the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The film kept me interested, and there was always a motive behind someone's actions. Figuring these motives out was not always simple, so it allowed you to always think twice about the meaning of actions or phrases. Demographically, the movie would interest mature audiences that would understand it. The film is more complex and hard to grasp at times, because you have to read between the lines to keep up with the characters. I watched the whole movie and did not even notice that there was not any black people and I am black, so I do not believe it was anything that was meant to be a discrimination. In that in that time period if you were to add black people into the movie another topic opened that did not pertain to the story. I would recommend this movie because it was a good story and had a good plot to it, but i would wait until it came out on DVD. I recommend waiting because it is not a movie that you would want to watch with many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. There Will Be Blood There Will be Blood was released in 2007. The director and the screenwriter was by Paul Thomas Anderson. Some of the tremendous actors in this movie are, Daniel Day–Lewis, Paul Dano, and Dillon Freasier. I would say this movie really set the tone for the American dream, even though it wasn't really thought of during the movie's time period. It really shows hard work, greed, lust, and trickery. Overall this is a good movie, with a very slow start. It is filled with drama, mystery, and action. If you are for those kinds of films this movie is right up your alley. This movie is more of an action, drama, and mystery film. You never know what will be happening next. The film is filled with small hints, to where you have to pay very close attention ... • 3. Stanley Kubbrick Influence Stanley Kubrick was born in New York City on July 26, 1928 and grew up in the Bronx, where his father and mother, Jacques Kubrick and Sadie Kubrick. Stanley Kubrick never was in sync with his school. In elementary school, he had a poor attendance record. In high school, he was considered a social outcast and the ideal underachiever, his status in his class was near the bottom, in spite of his intellect. Kubrick's younger years, he was motivated to either become a writer or an athlete. He was looking for movies that inspired him instead of focusing on his academics. In high school, Kubrick played the drums in his jazz band, which also included Eydie Gorme as the vocalist. Kubrick also showed early talent as a photographer for his school paper, ... Anderson who has made four post–2000 films that are genius in their own way: Punch Love Drunk with Adam Sandler, There Will Be Blood with Daniel Day–Lewis; The Master with Philip Seymour Hoffman, and The Big Lebowski with Jeff Bridges. His courageous Steadicame one shots, passion with obsession, and flattering of impending disagreement with The Master is where Kubrick's influence is most felt. Christopher Nolan is the last director mentioned. Nolan is addressed as a cinematic messiah, the savior of the superhero genre, and around the release of Inception, the new Kubrick. The most recent films Nolan has released were, The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Prestige, Inception and Interstellar which are known by their smart plotting, twists and unique internal logics. Nolan's films have a genre–hopping superiority, his characters are all fanatics, and his film's plots and descriptions are refined to systematic accuracy. Heath Ledger's Joker pulled off one of the most iconic Kubrick Stares in modern cinema. While more interested in crowd–pleasing scene similar to classic Spielberg or Hitchcock, the Kubrick inspiration is definitely the most present in Nolan's films ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Theme Of Death And The Miser The theme we created for Death and the Miser is "Forgiveness overrules your mistakes." Everyone in life makes mistakes but it's the forgiveness you get afterwards that counts. This theme applies to my groups' story of Death and the Miser in many ways. An example would be when the Miser steals the indulgences and sells them for his own profit; the church later on forgives him for what he had done. I chose the movie Magnolia directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and the novel The Last Song written by Nicholas Sparks to demonstrate my theme for my version of Death and the Miser. My first genre that I have chosen is a movie. The movie that applies to my theme is Magnolia directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. I found this movie on the website InspiredGroup.com. ... • 5. Elements Of Mise-En Scene In Boogie Nights In the film, Boogie Nights, the director, Paul Thomas Anderson utilizes elements of mise–en–scene such as the natural acting and impressive use of space, with engrossing shot choice and complex camera movement in his cinematography as he brings the audience into the atmospheric, realistic, and vibrant world of the 1970s. This is displayed effectively in the film's fantastic opening tracking shot. The opening scene of Boogie Nights is very ambitious as its goal is to introduce us to the time period and the many characters that inhabit the world of the film. The scene opens in 1977 at the Hot Traxx Disco in the San Fernando Valley. Right from the opening, the film just captures the zeitgeist of the time. The culture is underlined by the costumes. In the 1970s, clothing considered fashionable was such things as bell–bottoms, flares, platform shoes, disco suits, and ete. They are specifically seen in the background when Jack is driving to the nightclub. This is further shown in the nightclub where everyone is dressed very fashionably. Moreover, there is a significance and meaning to the costume design. The costumes dictate what roles these people had. A prime example of this is in the background, which shows how men and women were portrayed in society. The waiters are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He takes all these things like the mise–en–scene of the accurate costumes, with the naturalistic acting that the ensemble cast carries. His use of movement and space is just amazing in terms of how he was able to handle all these characters and the sleekness of Elswit's camerawork. The lighting helps further that style. His framing is out of this world because he manages to do all these tasks in just one shot without a single edit. His sounds and more specifically, his use of "Best of My Love" then wrap it by being realistic and never really taking us out of the film. Overall, Anderson has created an ambitious and impressive moment in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. There Will Be Blood Character Analysis "There Will Be Blood" is an exciting film made in 2007. The director and screenwriter of this movie is Paul Thomas Anderson. He based his movie off of a novel called "Oil" written by Upton Sinclair. Some well–known actors star in this movie, some such as: Daniel Day–Lewis who plays a successful oil driller known as Daniel Plainview, Dillon Freasier who plays the orphan son of Daniel Plainview, HW, and Paul Dano who plays a pair of twins named Eli and Paul Sunday. I'd have to say in this film you should expect to see more of a tragic drama. Daniel Plainview in this movie is a very intelligent man that knows how to get what he wants in a very convincing way. Don't perceive him as the man that he portrays to be! The constant twists and turns in this movie will have you on the edge of your seat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some scenes where the plot or setting doesn't change for a very long time which might lose the focus of some viewers. Daniel Plainview, played by Day–Lewis, is the main character who uses his manipulative ways to try and persuade people into his way on how to do things. H.W., played by Dillon Freasier, is the son of Daniel and is used as the "cute face" in Daniels operations. Eli Sunday, played by Paul Dano, is a pastor at a small church located in his town, but sometimes uses his religious views to get his way on certain things. The old fashioned houses, and drilling equipment reveals that this film takes place in the early 1900s. The movie will periodically jump forward in time to show the progress Daniel has made with drilling. I think the overall purpose for making this film is to show how things might have been in the earlier 1900s and how people dealt with their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Being God Sent For The Gospel Of Jesus Christ being God sent for the gospel of Jesus Christ, one's identity in Jesus Christ, and being made a disciple. Each is a demonstration of God accepting His people as being unworthy to be worthy for His glory. It is a blessing to be a designer original, because it resembles His image. It is in his image a person observes the spirit of holiness and the righteousness of God. The theology of preaching helps a person to recognizes the owner of the breath of life dwelling in one's body. Likewise, God is willing to restore and revive those that have lost their lives to the secular world. God controls all matters of life. It is the individual choice to be made over by God. God is willing to shape, mold, and fill those purposing to surrender their all before Him. God is to be worshipped, praise, and glorified within a person's body. Therefore, the role of preaching in ministry begins with self– examination and accountability to rightly divide the word of truth before God, not pleasing man, (2 Tim. 4:1–5, ESV). The passage of the Scriptures is clearly emphasizing the charges to Timothy as well as other church leaders. The author, Thomas Hale writes, "Paul gave five charges, preach the word, that is the gospel Jesus Christ, be prepared at all times, remain on duty; correct, rebuke and encourage." Hale continues to write, "Timothy must preach the Gospel diligently, because the time will come when men will not accept the truth. People will listen only to what is interesting to them at the ... • 8. International Relations : The Domestic And The International International relations are often conceptualized as interactions between clearly delineated nation– states. In this globalizing world, however, transnational actors are playing an increasingly larger part. Diasporic communities hold significant political clout within their adopted lands, as well as their home countries. Accordingly, several scholars have strived to break away from that traditional dichotomy: the domestic versus the international. Expanding on Robert Putnam's theory of international negotiations as a two–level process (in which politicians must simultaneously please their domestic constituency and the foreign states they are negotiating with), Yossi Shain and Tamara Coffman Wittes refer to a "three–level game". Diasporas are distinct from the hostland as well as the homeland, existing in a third space that confers them with unique political agency. To Shain and Wittes, "diasporas cannot be viewed simply as a domestic constituency within their host state but must also be viewed as independent actors in the conflict resolution process" (Shain & Wittes, 172). This distinction is particularly significant in light of the fact that the interests of a diasporic community are not always perfectly aligned with those of the residents of the homeland: Shain and Wittes argue that the primary value of the homeland within the diaspora consciousness is its symbolic power to convey and preserve identity – in contrast to those who live in the homeland, who may have more ... • 10. Punch-Drunk Love Over Independence Day weekend, I had some free time so I decided to watch a movie. I narrowed it down between two choices, "Life Itself" – which I eventually went with and loved – and "There Will Be Blood." One of the reasons I chose "Life Itself" was that I hadn't seen a Paul Thomas Anderson movie before and I was hesitant to jump in with one of his most recent films, which many would consider his masterpiece. I wanted a warm–up, so I watched PTA's 2002 film "Punch–Drunk Love." I am now more excited to take on more of his filmography, but also a little worried. "Punch–Drunk Love" is a character study focusing on Barry Egan, a troubled man who sells novelty goods like fun plungers. Egan has seven domineering and emotionally abusive sisters ... It does a great job at enhancing some of the tenser scenes, such as the aforementioned three–way conversation. It falters some, however, when it becomes more conventional moments, such as the romantic encounters. The normality of it feels out of place given the movie and what the score has sounded like so far. Although I liked these elements for the most part, I did have some problems with "Punch–Drunk Love," and I think some of the blame lies with PTA's screenplay. My biggest issue was I found the oddity of the film off–putting. As you could probably tell from my plot synopsis, this is a weird film in myriad ways. Due to this strangeness, I found that I couldn't engage with the story or characters (who are bizarre in their own right) because I could not identify with them as much. A lesser problem of the movie is the chemistry between Sandler and Watson. They have decent chemistry, but Sandler doesn't quite sell their relationship enough to convince me of its authenticity. Moreover, I never understood why Watson's character would fall for Barry. He's a bland, weird person. They initial encounters do have something of a spark, and I totally get why Barry is into her, but I saw no reason for her to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Analysis Of Magnolia By Paul Thomas Anderson Magnolia directed and written by Paul Thomas Anderson is a truly memorable film which digs deep down to the bone on how harsh life is sometimes. As the film unfolded the ideas of forgiveness, death, chance, and destiny all interconnects and create the story that is Magnolia. One notable theme throughout the movie is the relationship with parents. This really hit home with me because personally, I feel like parents really shape and mold a child with their own actions and personalities. This could be good for the child, but could lead to a life filled with pain and loneliness. In Magnolia it becomes aware that there are a downfall of fathers. Earl Partridge, Jimmy Gator, and Rick Spector all fathers who have placed a burden on their children. Earl Partridge a man on his deathbed is taking his final breaths, only to be slowly eaten away from the guilt left of his conscience. The reason being, Earl abandoned his wife, cheated on her and left his son to take care of her when she had cancer. This act Earl committed could never be forgotten and his son, Frank is deeply affected by it. Growing up without the proper love and only knowing the pain he masks his emotional stress by having casual sex with women. By doing this in Frank 's mind it compensates for the lack of parental love he didn 't have in his childhood. While he could not control his childhood, Frank changes that and takes control of everything even women. As a result the seminar "Seduce and Destroy" was born, making ... Auteurs Film Analysis The idea of auteurship is one that is surrounded by the domineering presence of the white male, with little exception: a simple Google search of "film auteurs" produces thousands of results of websites listing off the likes of Paul Thomas Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and David Lynch. However, one early female filmmaker–who, like too many other important women of the past, has been mostly buried by history–stands above the rest. Often viewed in the same regard as male contemporaries such as D. W. Griffith, Lois Weber used her platform as a universally acclaimed creator (at the time) to make socially conscious films that advocated the underprivileged. Almost everything that the audience experiences in a film has significance in one way or another. Filmmakers use specific components in order to express thoughts and ideas through their work. These fundamentals of filmmaking typically contribute towards meaning. Audiences can draw multiple different meanings from a film, as everyone interprets things in their own way; but ultimately an overall implicit meaning can be understood by drawing attention to the techniques utilized by the filmmakers. This establishes the idea that Barry is comfortable blending in with his surroundings in order to avoid standing out. It is the first demonstration of the character's anti–social tendencies. This is also displayed by Barry's framing in the long shot. He is positioned in the furthest corner of the room, giving a sense that his life is confined and isolated. The shadows on the right of the frame advance this idea of confinement by constructing the shot to make his office look almost like a cave, in which he feels most comfortable. Barry crosses the frame to walk towards the shadow, which eventually fills the screen with blackness until he opens the door to exit his office. This shot presents the idea that the outside world is very different from the safety of Barry's cave. The second shot adds to this notion, as Barry immediately witnesses a brutal car crash as soon as he walks outside. Whenever he leaves the safety of his comfort zone, danger presents itself. This sequence does its job to categorize the main character as someone who does not seem capable of normal social interaction. This meaning that he is also incapable of love, or is too consumed with anxiety to look for it. The cinematography in these preliminary shots set up meaning for the rest of the film. Inversely, Paul Thomas Anderson explores Daniel Plainview as the main protagonist in There Will Be Blood and connects his character with the audience through unquestionable toughness and a considerable, enthralling transformation from imposing businessman to selfish psychopath. Similarly, these two texts are based in times of hardship, The Grapes of Wrath is fixed during the great depression and There Will Be Blood is set during the early 1900's when mining was difficult. The two authors use the hardships of their main protagonist to demonstrate the different ways in which humans can become affected by the pathway chosen regarding feeling and emotion. Your Name Professor 's Name Course number Date (05 October 2016) The separation of powers in the Constitution Separation of powers is the division of political authority that gives a system of checks and balances to make sure that no solitary branch turn out to be excessively infringes or powerful on the rights of the citizens ( Gray, Kenneth, et.al 2005). The term separation of powers or 'trias politica' was formed by Charles–Louis de Secondat, baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu, an 18th century French political and social philosopher. "Spirit of the Laws" is one of his publications and considered as one of the tremendous works in the history of and jurisprudence and, political theory; it inspired the Declaration of the Rights of the Constitution and Man and of the United States (Anderson, Gordon L.2004). Under his model, the political authority of the state is separated into legislative, executive as well judicial powers. He declared that, to most efficiently promote liberty, these three powers have to be dividing and acting independently. Therefore, separation of powers refers to the distribution of government tasks and responsibilities into diverse branches to limit any one branch from exercising the essential functions of another. The objective is to prevent the concentration of power and give for checks and balances. Visual Pleasure And Narrative Cinema Laura Mulvey argues in her essay, "Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema", that voyeurism has associations with sadism which relies on a linear story in which events happen that force a change in another character via a battle, a verbal dispute, or in general a victory or a defeat, etc. This topic stood out to me because voyeurism aligned with sadism is something that we can see in several films; the main character kills an enemy, a witty conversation leaves another character duped, etc. While watching movies we tend to derive pleasure from seeing characters that we relate to interact in a way that puts them in charge of the situation. Then maybe superstition takes over and he just played the role so well because their first names are the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Daniel Day–Lewis played Daniel Plainview, Dillion Freasier played H.W. Plainview, and Paul Dano played Eli Sunday. This movie shows if you let money control your life it may force you to make bad decisions. William Jennings Bryan had a very logical quote about how not many people can earn money fairly. "No one can earn a million dollars honestly". "There will be Blood" is a drama, action, and mystery film. This movie is a mystery because you never know what Daniel will do next. Daniel viewed himself as a powerful man, someone who did not want anyone to have more power than him. He was a static character who did not change and nothing dramatic happens to him in the story. His attitude seemed to remain the same throughout the movie. For example, after Daniel raised H.W. as his own, he later told him him H.W. wasn't his child, and never loved him. Throughout the movie, Daniel showed many different character traits. For example, he showed love and compassion for H.W. when he was a child, fearlessness to his competition and enemies, determination for his dreams and goals to become a reality, and carelessness about the mistakes he has made and crimes he has committed. Who Is Thomas Edison A Hero Thomas Edison: The Wizard of Menlo Park One of the world's greatest inventors, Thomas Edison, once said "Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work" (Beals, Edison Quotes). Perspiration and long hours were key to him. He noticed what hit peers have missed by being lazy and he was determined to be the opposite. Thomas Edison's childhood curiosity and imagination led to the dedicated and persistent man who created countless new inventions, improvements, and literally, lit up the world. Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio; his parents were Samuel Edison and Nancy Elliot Edison. Nancy's parents believed girls should be educated and so Nancy was educated and she taught school until she married. According to Sarris, "The second premise of the auteur theory is the distinguishable personality of the director as a criterion of value. Over a group of films, a director must exhibit certain recurrent characteristics of style, which serves as his signature. The way a film looks and moves should have some relationship to the way a director thinks and feels." (Sarris, 1962). Anderson uses his similar style in other films, including 'Magnolia' because as an auteur director creates films with their unique signature, it makes the audiences to naturally recognize their work. His unique signature acts as his personality to focus on recurring themes within his work. The theme he usually used in most of his films deals with regret and loneliness, this includes 'Magnolia' as well as his other films like 'Hard Eight', 'Boogie Nights' and 'There Will Be Blood'. Another style in his films is his film techniques such as the symmetry shot, Steadicam, the whip pan and the use of music. For example, the whip pan was used in 'Magnolia', 'Boogie Nights' and 'Hard Eight'. Therefore, Anderson's style used in his films to show his unique signature for the audience to recognize his ... • 36. The Importance Of Democracy : The Best Form Of Government Democracy, typically through elected representatives, is a "government of the people, by the people, for the people", as once stated by former U.S President Abraham Lincoln. It is true that visionary leaders in an autocratic regime can accomplish much, such as introducing government policies quickly without legislative and judicial constraints. However, a democracy is always the best form of government. To address this aim, I will be doing an analysis of how democracies use the liberation of personal freedoms to protect citizens from the possibility of living an interminable amount of time in a self–interested regime. Our identities are important in determining what we think of ourselves and others. Thus, it is important to make sure that the basis of one's identity, such as moral values and religion, does not intrude on the individuality of another. In a dictatorship, citizens cannot enjoy a variety of rights that citizens in democracies take for granted. An important feature of a democracy requires "free speech, free press and free assembly" (Kotler, 2016). For example, a democracy has yet to experience a famine because issues regarding people starving would get publicized by the media, in which citizens would vote out the leader putting them at risk of starvation. We are able to choose the government that promotes our growth as a nation. Every type of regime has a selectorate: in a democracy, every eligible voter is a member of the selectorate because each has a vote ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When he leaves his child to attend to the fire is acceptable, to a degree. Near the end of the scene Daniel is shown yelling at one of his employees, asking them what is there worry when there is a world of oil beneath their feet. Daniel is more worried about the oil than his son who has been hurt. H.W. is a quiet reserved kid who knows more than his father. H.W. is that cliché kid who finds a secret about another character and tries to save his father from trouble, but gets in trouble himself. Dillon Freasier plays the younger version of H.W. well. He has very little lines, but his acting covers for his lack of dialogue. Paul Sunday is almost like the Joker. When I think about Paul I remember him as the guy who pops up at the right time and is meticulously planning something. Paul is the kind of character who gives you a chance to prove yourself, but when you fail he immediately knows how to take you down. When Paul leads Daniel's repentances, it is his payback, for when Daniel passed over his blessing and smashed his face into oil. The acting done by Paul Dano is outstanding, he does a good job with letting the audience awareness of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The opening scene of the movie was Daniel Plainview in a almost completely dark mine shaft. Him always being in shadows shows that he is a dark character. One of the few times he is fully lit in the movie is when he is in Eli's church confessing that he abandoned his child. The film mostly uses music in serious situations. The beginning of the film there is no dialogue and no music at all. The character of H.W Plainview was an indirect character because he didn't do much for himself. He was a dynamic character because at the beginning he loved his father very much, but at the end of the film he is trying to get away from him. A main trait of his was staying quiet. He knew his father was ripping people off, but stayed and acted a face for Daniel to buy land with. I did not like the film because the plot was uninteresting to me and it was a dark film. The opening was very unclear, there was no dialogue, and the viewer was made to guess what was happening. People who like drama would probably enjoy the movie for the ending and the acting of Daniel Day–Lewis. I would not go see the movie in theaters. I would only watch this movie if I was bored at ...
