Becoming A Chiropractor Since My Junior Year Of High School
When I first started this assignment, I had no idea who or what to interview. As I put more thought into it and looked at my options, I saw an
unbeatable opportunity to do my paper on. I have been interested in becoming a chiropractor since my junior year of high school. Although I have
never been to a chiropractor before, I began doing research on the profession when my rural town got its first chiropractor. According to
spine–health.com, the definition of a chiropractor is "a health professional focused on the diagnosis and treatment neuromuscular disorders, with an
emphasis on treatment though manual adjustment and/or manipulation of the spine (Yeomans)." With this being said, it is evident that becoming a
chiropractor is not a simple task. A chiropractor is a doctor, not a physician "who can prescribe over the table drugs" but a doctor of the spine. There
are only a hand full of schools in continental North America in which one can attend to obtain a chiropractic doctorate. Furthermore, there are only 17
schools in American and a mere two in Canada. Since there is not a large demographic of people who are chasing a chiropractic doctorate and only a
few schools to choose from, tuition is often times too expensive for the majority of people. However, those that can afford the schooling may be
shocked to find that it is structured in trimesters rather than semesters. Each trimester is around 12 to 13 weeks long and depending on the school you
attend, either 10 or 12

The Massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his Explorers in...
Two events took place in the mid–19th century in the United States that set the stage for a third which became an historic turning point in American
history. The settlement of Mormons in Utah and their pursuit to establish their own government coupled with explorations to develop the
transcontinental railroad laid the groundwork for the massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his explorers in 1853 which took eight lives. As
massacres go, the loss of eight people was not numerically remarkable. What made the Gunnison Massacre exceptional is that it catapulted into the
American conscious. Both Mormons and American Indians entered the spotlight of American attention, and the resulting outrage forever changed
American sentiment and government... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Corps described the topography, route, buildings and culture of an assigned survey area, made sketches of routes and distances, noted important
observations, and kept a journal of daily movements when the army was on the march. To accomplish this, such an expedition team would typically
include surveyors, a geologist, botanist, astronomer, meteorologist and an artist. Transcontinental railroad After the United States acquired so much
more territory, the push for expansion accelerated and spurred development of an American transcontinental railroad line. The California Gold Rush of
1848 fanned the flames of westward exploration and settlement. One of the biggest challenges was finding the most suitable route. Businessmen were
eager to expand their horizons and capitalize on new western markets. In 1845, an early proponent of a transcontinental railroad, Asa Whitney, led an
exploratory team along the route he envisioned from Chicago to northern California. As a highly successful dry goods merchant and locomotive
manufacturer in New Rochelle, New York, Whitney traveled widely to solicit support from other businessmen and politicians. He proposed selling land
to settlers along the route to finance construction. Whitney printed maps and pamphlets and submitted several proposals to Congress. He was thwarted,
however, by southern business interests who opposed his plan because they would not

Located at the base of the Wasatch Mountains is the wonderful city of Sandy. Sandy City is one of the more populous areas of Salt Lake City and the
5th largest city in Utah. It is a large, mostly suburban area with a population of about 94,000 people. It extends from I–215 to the north, E 12300 to the
south, W 10600 S to the west, and Little Cottonwood Canyon Road to the east. Sandy has 4 quadrants: Alta Canyon, Bell Cayon, Crescent, and Sandy.
I live in the Sandy quadrant, which is the 2nd largest of the 4 (after Alta Canyon.) While not being the largest in size, it is the most populous (and
densely populated). Sandy also has many recreational parks, and a very well developed transportation network consisting of many bus routes and a...

There have been impacts of natural hazards on Sandy throughout the city's history. There have been many records of floods in the past and some very
minor earthquakes. There are still dangers of floods and earthquakes, and many people live on the fault line, where it is expected to have a huge
earthquake in about 50 years. This large earthquake could destroy many homes and neighborhoods and will cost the city a substantial amount of money
to repair all of the damages.
Growth over time and space Population has increased a lot in Sandy. There were a few people in the 1900s, when the city was still developing. But
ever since, the population has boomed. Sandy experienced its biggest growth in 1970 – 1980, when the population increased 711%[5].
[pic]
Here is a projection for future population trends in Sandy. It is expected that population growth will expand steadily. By 2060, the population in Sandy
would increase to over 145,000.

The population of Sandy is growing because Sandy is a physically attractive place. Many families are coming to Sandy because it is a safe place to
raise their children. There is a lot of economic development, so there are a lot of job opportunities. There are more buildings being

The Mormon Church
I was raised in what now would be called White privilege. The Edgemont area in Provo, Utah was an extremely homogenous culture. My family, along
with most of the other families in my neighborhood were young, White, middle class, highly educated, conservative, heterosexual, and Mormon with
European ancestry. My father, along with most of the other fathers in the neighborhood, was a professor atBrigham Young University. Our culture was
based on the teachings of the Mormon Church with a rich pioneer heritage which we celebrated every 24th of July. As children, we would don
pioneer garb, decorate wagons and bikes to look like covered wagons or handcarts and march around the church building pretending to be pioneers.
Not only was this event fun, but we could feel the pioneer blood flowing through our veins. The pioneers represented to us hard work, sacrifice,
devotion, obedience, courage, fortitude and love of God.
The Mormon Church was organized in 1830, as a collectivist society where the good of the church was more important than the individual. In those
days, when the church gave a member an assignment, including leaving the family to go on a mission, moving to a new location, or allowing a
husband to marry another wife, and performed these tasks no matter the personal sacrifice required. The collectivist practice of the United Order was
instituted in the late 1800's in a small town in Southern Utah called Orderville. My Great–grandparents were part of this system where

Polygamy: The Church Of The Latter Day Saints
The Supreme Court also felt that the donation spirit was also compromised by using it for polygamy. The Church of the Latter–Day Saints had to drop
polygamy in order to maintain the land or be continually rejected from the society the Church of the Latter Day Saints wanted to join. The reason this
case ended polygamy was because the church would lose the donated lands they practiced their religion on. The loss of these lands would mean the
end of the Church of the Latter Day Saint community because the church would be left without a place to practice. One of the ways the Church of
the Latter Day Saints would be able to keep land to practice on was to end polygamy, which would end the spread of polygamy. This Supreme Court
ruling was based on

Brigham Young: The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day...
Brigham Young was the second Prophet of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. He lived in the early to late 1800s. He was a leader,
father, son, brother, friend, and a great Prophet. Brigham Young righteously led the mormons in the western movement to Salt Lake City Utah, and in
the coming up of Salt Lake City, where they settled in order to have a better, and free life.
Brigham Youngwas born on June 1, 1801, in Whitingham Vermont. Even as a young boy, Brigham always wanted to know the truth. He enjoyed
learning and finding out new things. In 1830, a man named Joseph Smith, declared the new church, to be named: "The Church Of Jesus Christ Of

Essay on An Enigmatic People and Their Rock Art
An Enigmatic People and Their Rock Art
Archaeologists often rely on material traits to define culture groups. In the Southwest, one such group, the Fremont culture, has to a large degree defied
classification. Inhabiting an expansive territory in the northern reaches of the Southwest, the Fremont sometimes look archaeologically very similar to
their neighbors, the Anasazi, and to groups living on the Plains and in the Great Basin. The origin and eventual demise of the Fremont culture has been
the subject of much debate, as has the question of whether the Fremont even constitute a "culture." More than any other term "variable" seems to
describe the Fremont best. Several traits appear more distinctly "Fremont" including a certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Researchers have provided a number of temporal ranges for Fremont habitation, with the most encompassing being 2000–500 B.P. (Madsen and Simms
1998).
The origin of the Fremont has been a disputed subject. Some researchers argue for an in situ development from the Desert Archaic culture (Aikens
1970; Marwitt 1970; Husted and Mallory 1967). Others have also suggested an in situ development but with a great deal of influence from the Anasazi
to the south (Ambler 1966). Archaeologists have proposed a migration origin with an influx of people from the Virgin Anasazi region (Gunnerson
1969) or from the northwestern Plains (Aikens 1966). Researchers base these suppositions on Fremont material traits that are similar to those of people
from outside of the Fremont region, such as tipi rings, shield pictographs, projectile point forms, moccasins, and pottery manufacturing techniques.
None of these theories seems to adequately explain the variation that exists within the Fremont region (Madsen 1979).
The patterning of Fremont material traits has led archaeologists to outline a number of regional variants. The most commonly used model divides the
Fremont area into five sub–regions (Marwitt 1970) (Figure 2) based on differences in architecture, ceramics, figurine and rock art styles, and means of
subsistence. Traits do not stay contained within sub–regions; rather they

The Mormon Polygamy
INTRODUCTION
When one thinks about marriages or weddings in the United States, Americans may often reminiscence on two individuals tying the knot. However, in
the western United States, and in parts of Canada, more and more people are practicing polygamy, which is the act of an individual marrying another
person(s), after one already has a spouse. Although the practice is illegal, individuals within the Fundamental Latter–Day Saints Church partake in the
activity, as it is a divine part and calling of their religion. The FLDS is a break–off sect off the mainstream Mormon, or Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter–Day Saints, Church. The Mormon Church originally practiced polygamy, up until The Manifesto, which was issued in 1890, by Wilford
Woodruff, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Holding out Help, a non–profit organization based in Utah, has sought out to help people escape polygamist communities ("Holding Out Help").
Other than that, there is not many resources or places available for the women that are seeking justice from the harmful communities they grew up in
Short Creek. I have discovered this from my research, in addition to the lack of knowledge individuals have about the mainstream Mormon Church,
the FLDS, and polygamy. Although the Mormon Church used to promote polygamy in the 19th century, they do not practice polygamy, at least in
this lifetime, according to Miller. They are two separate entities, and many people get confused by this. I have seen this from my own personal
experiences, when I say that I have family from the state of Utah. Many people believe that all that there is to do in Utah is have more than one wife. I
am not certain on who needs to make sure that there is a line of difference between the Mormon Church and the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter–Day Saints, but there needs to be one if the Mormon Church wants separation from the FLDS

Utah Symphony and Utah Opera Merger
1.Bill Bailey, chairman of the board of the Utah Opera Organization, could use McClelland's need theory to support the merger with the Utah
symphony based on the three principles that are entailed in the theory; need for achievement, need for affiliation, and need for power (Kreitner &
Kinicki, 2010, p. 215). Firstly, the need for achievement is met by understanding that people strive to master difficult situations, endeavors or
challenges. This idea works on both an organizational level, as well as an individual level. From an organizational level, it is well known that a
merger of this magnitude had never been attempted. With that brings a great challenge to succeed, and lets the leadership work in new and innovative

Anne's position allowed her to exert an enormous amount of power and influence on her organization. She was the driving force behind all the
successes during her tenure, and could use those strengths to help be a leader in the merger. She understands how arts organizations function, both
from leading them and from being in a key position on the performance side. This lends her great credibility with those who work under her, and
she should keep in mind the things that were on her mind when she was with the performers. With her position, she possesses almost all power in
regards to the media and negotiations. She should explain the idea of the merger openly and honestly to her employees and the press, such that all
grievances can be aired and met head on. In regards to dealing with Keith Lockhart, the Utah Symphony's musical director, Anne should focus on
including and educating Keith so that he feels motivated to be a leader and example himself in such a merger. Without Keith, the likelihood of
success for the merger would be small, and fear of the expected outcomes of his influence on his symphony could push him to not be motivated. One
of Keith's' primary concerns is that "The only negative I perceive about this idea is that this type of merger hasn't been done in America before"
(Delong, 2005, p. 8). With this in mind, Anne could point to her

potential to damage the habitat and poison the animals that live there and call it home. Many of the invasive plants will repopulate no matter how

The Nature Center has also been affected by the lack of water Utah has had in the past few years. There is a pond on the premises called Avocet

The Tempest Critical Analysis
The Tempest is about an ousted Duke of Milan ,Prospero, who has been living in exile on a remote island for the past twelve years with his
daughter Miranda. He is a powerful magician, who happens to be the master of Ariel and Caliban, and a guy who really likes his books. When
Prospero's enemies wash up on shore, he uses his black magic to seek revenge and restore himself to power. The Tempest belongs to the genre of
Elizabethan romance plays. It combines elements of tragedy with those of romantic comedy, and like one of Shakespeare's plays previously, it asks
deeper questions that are not completely resolved at the end. The tone that seeps into the play is one of wonder, amazement, and admiration. Mystery
is still present , but the magic performed is not black and scary. The version that seems to grasp my attention more, would have to be theUtah Valley
University interpretation because it takes Shakespeare's main purpose and tone but shows it in its own unique way. Furthermore, with its silly
drunkards, the play has a certain lightness to it and even the so called killers of the King tell hilarious jokes and are lighthearted. But there is also the
tone of revenge and reconciliation in the play. We feel a revenge burning in Prospero while, at the same time, a wish for forgiveness and reconciliation
with those who have wronged him.
The Balinese production has a magical and mystical tone and is all caused by the effects the director decided to use to help make the tone

After the death of the Mormon leader, a new leader called Brigham Youngwas introduced. Young was convinced that the Mormons would not live in
peace anywhere in the east. He had guidebooks about the Oregon Trail, which contained the most reserved place in the entire west which was near
the Great Salt Lake. Young was an excellent organiser (he organised the move to Nauvoo), a down to earth man, and was a determined man. He
decided to move west and left Nauvoo in the spring of 1846. The Mormons prepared for the great journey. As they entered the South pass, they met a

soon as the Mormons arrived, they started the creation of there new city. The Mormons achieved a lot, but did not know what was happening in the

My Personal Experience In College
After I graduated High School, I moved to Logan, Utah to pursue my Bachelors at Utah State University. This move was actually quite easy. My
mom drove down with me to help me move into my apartment and all of my belongings easily fit between our two cars. About halfway through the
semester, everything kind of fell apart. I hated my program, I didn't like the atmosphere of the university and I wanted out. It was not anything like
I was hoping, and I decided I was definitely not going to stay. However, I wanted to finish out the semester and tie up all my loose ends before I
transferred. After a couple weeks of heavy research, hours on the phone, and lots and lots of emails, I was set to transfer to Boise State University
located in Boise, Idaho. The first of my problems was fitting all of my things in my one car. I was by myself this time and there was nobody to help
me. Therefore, I spent hours packing, unpacking and repositioning things until my car looked like the king of Tetris had payed me a visited. I could
only see out of the driver's side window and the windshield. I didn't care though, I just wanted everything to fit and miraculously it did. I moved in
December. Idaho and Utah freeways are treacherous during that time of year. I set out on my drive knowing the roads were going to be slick but I

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
The religious group Mormonism, better known as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints, has had their share of hardship and struggles. From
this adversity the church and members have had a great impact on western civilization. Being a member myself, I can think of many different
stories that have led me to believe that the early members of the church had a rough life. Anyone involved in the expansion westward who was
willing to give up their safe lives in the east is a hero in my eyes. One great story that has stuck in my mind is the Mormon Battalion. The Mormon
Battalion was a group of 543 men who enlisted for the sake of saving their religious freedom. The Mormons had recently been chased out of
Illinois and were going to embark on their search for religious freedom and peace. Brigham Young the new president of the church asked President
James K. Polk for assistance to travel to the west . President Polk didn't like the idea of granting them money to settle out of the United States
territory. Luckily for the Mormons a man by the name of Thomas Kane came to their rescue. Thomas Kane had connections through his father to the
president. He persuaded Polk to make the Mormon Battalion. He was easily persuaded because he feared that the Mormons would fight against them
in the war. President Polk promised Young that if a battalion of 500 men were raised, he would offer them aid. To his dismay many of the Mormons
felt as though this was a plot to disband the religion

The only thing we can do is to make sure that we are not transporting quagga mussels. Boat owners need to clean, drain, and dry their boats or have
them professionally decontaminated. During the summer, self cleaned boats need to dry for 7 days before entering another body of water. The fall

against quagga infestations. Idaho, for example, has boat inspection stations set up at almost every major road entering into the state. Laws require that
boaters must stop at one of these stations on their way to recreational waters. Utah, in conjunction with Idaho, spends $2.6 million per year to contain

About the Mormons
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–day Saints (also called the Mormon church) was founded at Fayette, New York, on April 6, 1830, by Joseph
Smith, Jr. Smith, the recipient of dreams and heavenly manifestations in the 1820s, dictated to scribes the translated text of a holy book he said had
been engraved on gold plates by an American Indian historian about a.d. 400. The six–hundred–page Book of Mormon was published in the spring of
1830.
The Latter–day Saints church, as it is more accurately called, was intended to be a restoration of the primitive church established by Jesus and his
apostles. God was a personal being, Jesus his literal son, and at the head of the church ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within a few weeks, Brigham Young, leader of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, was "sustained" as the new prophet. Under his leadership
preparations were made for removal of the church to the Great Basin in western America. Nauvoo was abandoned in 1846. A pioneer company of
148 persons reached the Salt Lake Valley in July 1847, where they made preparations for those to follow. About 2,000 wintered in the Salt Lake Valley
in 1847–1848, and the remainder of some 16,000 exiles migrated to the Great Basin at a rate of about 3,000 per year. Meanwhile, the 30,000 or more
converts in the eastern United States, Great Britain, and Scandinavia were arriving at a similar rate. By 1860 there were 40,000 Latter–day Saints in
Utah; by 1900, more than 200,000.
Some believers who chose not to follow Brigham Young founded the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1860 in Amboy,
Illinois, with Joseph Smith III as their president. Headquarters were later removed to Iowa and still later to Missouri, where a large auditorium and
other facilities were built. There were approximately 220,000 members of the Reorganized Church in 1990.

Bonnevelle Salt Flats Swot Analysis
Utah:
We spent the first day of our trip driving across the high desert of Wyoming towards Utah. While it made for an unusual Easter Sunday, a traditional
pot roast and a potato casserole reminded of the family holidays and fueled us for another day of traveling. Day two involved even more driving, with
a memorable stop near the border of Utah at the Bonnevelle Salt Flats. The weather was theatrically arid for our visit, despite rain in the region last
week. We spent the beautiful sunrise taking pictures and reveling in the alien scenery. Driving the 4Runner across the salt felt like driving on mars,
and dry salt was perfect for driving and taking epic drone shots..

College Is A Great Feeder School For Brigham Young University
University or Community College.
Ever since I can remember my parents told me that college was key to being successful in life. If you didn 't attend a good college your life was most
likely not going to be a very happy one. This message has stayed with me throughout my life , education was of great importance and college was the
key factor of where you ended up in life. High school counselors, teachers, parents, and mentors all emphasized that the better the college you attend
the more opportunities you 'll have. When I was a high school senior and had to think seriously about the future, I applied for many schools and landed

Uranium Mining In Utah
Uranium mining in Utah started in the 1940's during WWII when uranium was in high demand in use of bombs. Uranium was found in all parts of
Utah in areas like Lisbon Valley, White Canyon and even a little bit at the highly famous Bingham Canyon Mine. Yet mostly in an area near Moab that
located in the Red Rocks of Southern Utah by a man name Charles Steen. He is the one that found high uranium deposits in Southern Utah. They call it
the "Uranium Boom of 1952" Uranium is a element that is highly radioactive, which is why it was used during WWII. During World War II uranium
and other highly radioactive supplements, were in very high demand. These radioactive minerals were used in a way that caused what is called a

Mormonism : Westward Expansionism And The Manifest Destiny
The term Manifest Destiny was coined in 1845 with the publication of Democratic Review which "called for American expansionism (Scott)". It
declared that expansion represented "the fulfillment of our manifest destiny to overspread the continent allotted by Providence for the free development
of our yearly multiplying millions.(Scott)". Americans justified this expansion as their destiny given by God to occupy the entire stretch of land from
coast to coast south of Canada. The need for the expansion of territory and the growing population also drove the Americans towards the West.
Farmers, Native Americans, 49ers, cowboys travelled to the wild West in search of land, money, new life, or business opportunities, whereas the
purpose for the Mormons moving West was mostly due to religions persecution in the North.Mormonism is a religion created by Joseph Smith on April
6, 1830(The Mormon Trail), its believers are referred to as Mormons and practice the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints (LDS Church) (The
Mormon Trail). Smith believed himself to be a prophet destined to "restore the original pure church the Christians in the Book of Mormon had
created (Manifest Destiny and Westward Expansion)." However, he was killed by a mob in Illinois but was replaced by his successor,Brigham Young.
Their beliefs include a particular set of deity, afterlife, and they practice polygamy, which is one of the reasons the Mormons sought religious freedom.

Script On Mormonism
Mormonism Script
W: When Joseph Smith created Mormonism aka the church of Jesus Christ and the latter–day saint, he had never expected it would be the cause of his
demise. Founded in New York in 1830, Mormonism was a religion that was very disliked in most communities around the time of its creation. P:
Mormonism was disliked for several reasons. Mormonism was seen as a threat to a culture that depended on slaves. The Mormons belief of holding no
slaves was perceived as a threat to the current society. Further, their belief in plural marriage threatened the social and ethical norms of the time. The
rapidly growing Mormon communities brought with them the potential for increased political influence. They were considered outsiders who led ...

Utah's Coal Mining Industry
he coal mining industry started when people in Utah wanted fuel. Lumber at that time in Utah was used just for building, not for fuel. In 1854, the
LDS church said that they would pay for the first usable coal mine within forty miles of Salt Lake City. The first coal mine was in Summit County.
Its name was Coalville, and it was about forty miles from Salt Lake City. The Mormons built a railroad to the Coalville Coal Mine. They also found a
mine that would give them fuel for transportation named Castle Gate Mine. Soon the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad was built from
1881–1883. It went to the Book Cliffs; that was discovered as Utah's richest coal deposit. Coal mining had three big challenges The first problem
with mining was labor. Most people that worked in the coal mines were immigrants that came because they believed that mining would make them
rich. The second problem was money. The workers often complained about how low their wages were, and how high the store prices were in mining
camps. The last one was a safety concerns. It was very dangerous working in coal mines. You could die from explosions, or gas leaks. Because of
those three problems, the workers protested and many strikes occurred. The first strike happened in 1883, at Winter Quarters. They wanted safer

Pollution In Utah
I am writing to you about the pollution in Utah and how we can deal with it. I care about pollution in Utah for several reasons. One reason is
because I live in Utah and almost every day I walk out of the house and encounter pollution. Another reason is in the winter you walk outside and the
inversion is really really bad. Sometimes you can't even see twenty feet ahead of you. The inversion is so bad that I don't want to go outside for fear
of inhaling a toxic gas. This issue matters because there are people that are getting hurt from this pollution not to mention the damage pollution is doing
to our environment. Inhaling pollution is very destructive to our health. "The study, in Circulation Research, found consistent relationships between

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter– Day Saints: Mormon Lifestyle

Concepts
Sept. 8th, 2016
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter– Day Saints: Mormon Lifestyle The Mormon faith has been around since the 1800s starting in New York. The
Mormon lifestyle is similar to ours but can differ in many ways from history, beliefs, marriage, diets, and branches of the religion and even care plans.
Most people believe that the Mormons follow their founder Joseph Smith, but that is untrue.
The Mormon faith was founded by a man named Joseph Smith. He was born in Vermont on December 23rd, 1805. He was the fourth child of
Lucy and Joseph Smith. He and his family moved to New York during a time when no one knew which religion to choose; even his family was
struggling to find a religion. When Joseph turned fourteen years of age it was time for him to pick a religion and be baptized. Struggling to find
the right faith, Joseph turned to his bible for answer. He read a verse in the bible and it said, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and unbraideth not; and it shall be given him." (Bible, Book of James chapter one verse five.) After reading this Joseph
decided to go to the woods near his home and pray to God for answers of which faith to choose. This is when Joseph said he had a revelation from God
and was told that all the faiths were wrong and

Understanding Weaknesses Of The Four Day Workweek
Understanding Weaknesses of the Four–Day Workweek
Four–day workweek, like the name suggests, calls for replacing the five eight–hour days with four ten–hour days without changes in hourly earnings or
weekly earnings. Therefore, the same number of hours of work and leisure are provided at the same earnings. The concept of a compressed workweek is
not new, even if it is not the norm for most jobs. Proposals to reduce weekly hours of work, a major concern of American labor in the early years of
century, are again a serious concern to many people. The 2008 National Study of Employers, released by the Families and Work Institute, found that
38 percent of US firms allow a compressed workweek for some employees. Eight percent permit it for all or most employees (Gardner). When a
growing number of employers are considering converting to a compressed four–day workweek, it is important to understand positives and negatives of
the new work schedule, to analyze a specific example of company that have failed in converting to the new policy, and to understand additional factors
to consider before the implementation of the new policy.
An advantage brought to employers is that the four–day workweek helps companies save money incurred on daily operation. When employees cram 40
hours of work into four days, companies can save energy bills by closing for an extra one day per week. For example, in 2009, Utah became the first
state to institute an official four–day workweek for all state

If you're from Utah then you know all about Rice–Eccles Stadium, the home of the University of Utah football team. During the 2002 Winter
Olympics, the Rice–Eccles stadium held the Opening and Closing Ceremony. The stadium was built to host the winter Olympic and the winter
Paralympics. The construction cost $45 million and taking 18 months to construct, costing the Eccles family and sponsors $1000 per seat. The stadium
has also been used as concert venues for the Rolling Stones, NSYNC, and U2. Utah Utes fans don't know about the expansion plans and the cost of
the plans. Dave Wakefield, the Guest Services Manager at the University of Utah, joked around on how U2 were difficult to work with because of
their neediness. Wakefield granted a private tour the Specialty Journalism class of Rice–Eccles Stadium. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here's an insider, the university oversell seats by 1000, as long as it doesn't violate any laws and as long as fire marshal allows it. The past few
years the stadium has gone through several upgrades to improve sells and provide a "better" experience for students and patrons. The University of
Utah spent $3.3 million upgrading men's bathroom, also spending $35,000 to install a new and improved water fountains after fans complained that
vendors were blocking the water fountains. There is a plan to replace the current scoreboard with a scoreboard that is 4 times bigger, by next football
season. The estimated cost would be $13 million; there are also rumors of expanding the south side of the stadium still keeping the original lockers

My Winter Vacation
This was my second day in California. On the 24th of December, we all agreed on going to California for winter break. So, on the 25th of December in
the afternoon after we opened our presents, we all started packing everything only for three days. It was about 9:00pm when we went to sleep because
we all wanted my dad to rest so he could drive the whole way. At 7:00 am on December 26th we all started to put things in the car, all our luggage and
backpacks, we also decided to bring our dog and some food for later if we were hungry. We headed off at 8:30 so we could get to California earlier.
Right when we were on the road my brother and sister fell back asleep because they were so excited they couldn't sleep last night so they passed out
in the car. So, we started to head to Utah and we were really nervouse the whole way. We didn't stop at all because we really wanted to leave Colorado
as soon as possible. After a long drive that seemed like we were driving for ages we saw a sign and it said, "leaving colorful Colorado." My parents
were really excited and they asked me if I was excited said yes with an excited tone and a big smile. We kept on going still very excited that we
have just left Colorado and headed into Utah. When we drove deeper into Utah, everything looked way different then Colorado. There were no
buildings and no people walking, running, or cycling. The rocks and sand were kind of orange but the mountains were really orange and red colored.

Conway. This was the first case to weigh in on Utah's anti–bigamy laws to state that they are constitutional. Further when Chief Justice Waite delivered
the opinion of the court in discussion of the opinion further discussed if Mormons or the sects that are part of the religion practicing polygamy
should be exempt from the law. The state of Utah may use this in our current case to try and show and or justify why Ms. Evans, Mr. & Mrs.
Conway should not have the right to be married in a polygamous marriage, or granted a religious exemption. Lastly in Reynolds Chief Justice Waite
compared polygamy as "a criminal act" which is also where the state of Utah will weigh in on this wording as well for the defense. The state of Utah
also relies heavily on Utah Const. art. III, В§ 1, in Utah's Constitution stating "First: –– Perfect toleration of religious sentiment is guaranteed. No
inhabitant of this State shall ever be molested in person or property on account of his or her mode of religious worship; but polygamous or plural

The Utah Symphony And Utah Opera Essay
Introduction
This memo will examine the possible merger that the Utah Symphony ("the Symphony") and the Utah Opera ("the Opera") have recently announced
under the leadership of Scott Parker, the chairman of the board of the Utah Symphony. By examining the organizational, cultural, and communicative
results of the merger this memo will highlight the costs and benefits of partaking in this merger using the given information to make a final conclusion
to help you decide the best course of action for the Utah Opera moving forward.
Issue for Analysis
Mergers like the one proposed have had both positive and negative results for other arts companies in the past, based on their specific region and
composition. Whether or not the merger will be beneficial the Utah Symphony and the Utah Opera will be based on if their individual cultures and
structures are conducive to each other, an issue subject to my analysis. If the following aspects are not addressed, in my opinion, this merger will not
be successful and will be detrimental to both organizations.
Analysis of Current Situation
When looking at the merits it 's important to completely understand all the differences between the two companies that need to be hurdled as well as
any similarities that can be used to make the merger as seamless as possible. The Utah Symphony and the Utah Opera are to very different structurally
and culturally, so it is important to analyze the pre–merger and post–merger condition from the organizational

The Fastest Growing Subgroup Of The Nation Are English...
The fastest growing subgroup in the nation are English Language Learners (ELLs). Over a period of 10 years, from 1995 to 2005, ELL students
grew over 60% (Wolf, Herman, Bachman, Bailey, & Griffin, 2008). Since 1980, the number of residents aged five years and older that speak a
language other than English at home has more than doubled. Fewer than half of these residents are proficient in English. Utah is showing similar trends
in population as it is growing more ethnically and racially diverse. Families coming into Utah are immigrants that do not speak English at home. While
the majority of Utahan's are White, Utah Quick Facts from the U.S. Census Bureau (2014) show that Hispanic/Latinos represents 13.3% of Utah's
largest ethnic group. Asians represent 2.2%, American Indians/Alaskan Natives 1.5%, Blacks/African American 1.3%, and Pacific Islanders 0.9%.
Not only is the ELL population growing, but the diversity of students is growing as well. It is the responsibility of Utah's school administrators, school
board members, and teachers to provide an equitable and challenging education to all students. Utah's schools serve over 51,249 K–12 English learners
with 134 languages represented (Utah State Office of Education Title III Program, 2014).

Becoming A Chiropractor Since My Junior Year Of High School

  • 1. Becoming A Chiropractor Since My Junior Year Of High School When I first started this assignment, I had no idea who or what to interview. As I put more thought into it and looked at my options, I saw an unbeatable opportunity to do my paper on. I have been interested in becoming a chiropractor since my junior year of high school. Although I have never been to a chiropractor before, I began doing research on the profession when my rural town got its first chiropractor. According to spine–health.com, the definition of a chiropractor is "a health professional focused on the diagnosis and treatment neuromuscular disorders, with an emphasis on treatment though manual adjustment and/or manipulation of the spine (Yeomans)." With this being said, it is evident that becoming a chiropractor is not a simple task. A chiropractor is a doctor, not a physician "who can prescribe over the table drugs" but a doctor of the spine. There are only a hand full of schools in continental North America in which one can attend to obtain a chiropractic doctorate. Furthermore, there are only 17 schools in American and a mere two in Canada. Since there is not a large demographic of people who are chasing a chiropractic doctorate and only a few schools to choose from, tuition is often times too expensive for the majority of people. However, those that can afford the schooling may be shocked to find that it is structured in trimesters rather than semesters. Each trimester is around 12 to 13 weeks long and depending on the school you attend, either 10 or 12 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his Explorers in... Two events took place in the mid–19th century in the United States that set the stage for a third which became an historic turning point in American history. The settlement of Mormons in Utah and their pursuit to establish their own government coupled with explorations to develop the transcontinental railroad laid the groundwork for the massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his explorers in 1853 which took eight lives. As massacres go, the loss of eight people was not numerically remarkable. What made the Gunnison Massacre exceptional is that it catapulted into the American conscious. Both Mormons and American Indians entered the spotlight of American attention, and the resulting outrage forever changed American sentiment and government... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Corps described the topography, route, buildings and culture of an assigned survey area, made sketches of routes and distances, noted important observations, and kept a journal of daily movements when the army was on the march. To accomplish this, such an expedition team would typically include surveyors, a geologist, botanist, astronomer, meteorologist and an artist. Transcontinental railroad After the United States acquired so much more territory, the push for expansion accelerated and spurred development of an American transcontinental railroad line. The California Gold Rush of 1848 fanned the flames of westward exploration and settlement. One of the biggest challenges was finding the most suitable route. Businessmen were eager to expand their horizons and capitalize on new western markets. In 1845, an early proponent of a transcontinental railroad, Asa Whitney, led an exploratory team along the route he envisioned from Chicago to northern California. As a highly successful dry goods merchant and locomotive manufacturer in New Rochelle, New York, Whitney traveled widely to solicit support from other businessmen and politicians. He proposed selling land to settlers along the route to finance construction. Whitney printed maps and pamphlets and submitted several proposals to Congress. He was thwarted, however, by southern business interests who opposed his plan because they would not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Ap Human Geography Final Project Essay Located at the base of the Wasatch Mountains is the wonderful city of Sandy. Sandy City is one of the more populous areas of Salt Lake City and the 5th largest city in Utah. It is a large, mostly suburban area with a population of about 94,000 people. It extends from I–215 to the north, E 12300 to the south, W 10600 S to the west, and Little Cottonwood Canyon Road to the east. Sandy has 4 quadrants: Alta Canyon, Bell Cayon, Crescent, and Sandy. I live in the Sandy quadrant, which is the 2nd largest of the 4 (after Alta Canyon.) While not being the largest in size, it is the most populous (and densely populated). Sandy also has many recreational parks, and a very well developed transportation network consisting of many bus routes and a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [pic] [pic] Population pyramid of Sandy, Utah There have been impacts of natural hazards on Sandy throughout the city's history. There have been many records of floods in the past and some very minor earthquakes. There are still dangers of floods and earthquakes, and many people live on the fault line, where it is expected to have a huge earthquake in about 50 years. This large earthquake could destroy many homes and neighborhoods and will cost the city a substantial amount of money to repair all of the damages. Growth over time and space Population has increased a lot in Sandy. There were a few people in the 1900s, when the city was still developing. But ever since, the population has boomed. Sandy experienced its biggest growth in 1970 – 1980, when the population increased 711%[5]. [pic] Here is a projection for future population trends in Sandy. It is expected that population growth will expand steadily. By 2060, the population in Sandy would increase to over 145,000. [pic] The population of Sandy is growing because Sandy is a physically attractive place. Many families are coming to Sandy because it is a safe place to raise their children. • 4. The Mormon Church I was raised in what now would be called White privilege. The Edgemont area in Provo, Utah was an extremely homogenous culture. My family, along with most of the other families in my neighborhood were young, White, middle class, highly educated, conservative, heterosexual, and Mormon with European ancestry. My father, along with most of the other fathers in the neighborhood, was a professor atBrigham Young University. Our culture was based on the teachings of the Mormon Church with a rich pioneer heritage which we celebrated every 24th of July. As children, we would don pioneer garb, decorate wagons and bikes to look like covered wagons or handcarts and march around the church building pretending to be pioneers. Not only was this event fun, but we could feel the pioneer blood flowing through our veins. The pioneers represented to us hard work, sacrifice, devotion, obedience, courage, fortitude and love of God. The Mormon Church was organized in 1830, as a collectivist society where the good of the church was more important than the individual. In those days, when the church gave a member an assignment, including leaving the family to go on a mission, moving to a new location, or allowing a husband to marry another wife, and performed these tasks no matter the personal sacrifice required. The collectivist practice of the United Order was instituted in the late 1800's in a small town in Southern Utah called Orderville. My Great–grandparents were part of this system where ... • 5. Polygamy: The Church Of The Latter Day Saints The Supreme Court also felt that the donation spirit was also compromised by using it for polygamy. The Church of the Latter–Day Saints had to drop polygamy in order to maintain the land or be continually rejected from the society the Church of the Latter Day Saints wanted to join. The reason this case ended polygamy was because the church would lose the donated lands they practiced their religion on. The loss of these lands would mean the end of the Church of the Latter Day Saint community because the church would be left without a place to practice. One of the ways the Church of the Latter Day Saints would be able to keep land to practice on was to end polygamy, which would end the spread of polygamy. This Supreme Court ruling was based on ... He was a leader, father, son, brother, friend, and a great Prophet. Brigham Young righteously led the mormons in the western movement to Salt Lake City Utah, and in the coming up of Salt Lake City, where they settled in order to have a better, and free life. Brigham Youngwas born on June 1, 1801, in Whitingham Vermont. Even as a young boy, Brigham always wanted to know the truth. He enjoyed learning and finding out new things. • 7. Essay on An Enigmatic People and Their Rock Art An Enigmatic People and Their Rock Art Archaeologists often rely on material traits to define culture groups. In the Southwest, one such group, the Fremont culture, has to a large degree defied classification. Inhabiting an expansive territory in the northern reaches of the Southwest, the Fremont sometimes look archaeologically very similar to their neighbors, the Anasazi, and to groups living on the Plains and in the Great Basin. The origin and eventual demise of the Fremont culture has been the subject of much debate, as has the question of whether the Fremont even constitute a "culture." More than any other term "variable" seems to describe the Fremont best. Several traits appear more distinctly "Fremont" including a certain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Researchers have provided a number of temporal ranges for Fremont habitation, with the most encompassing being 2000–500 B.P. (Madsen and Simms 1998). The origin of the Fremont has been a disputed subject. Some researchers argue for an in situ development from the Desert Archaic culture (Aikens 1970; Marwitt 1970; Husted and Mallory 1967). Others have also suggested an in situ development but with a great deal of influence from the Anasazi to the south (Ambler 1966). Archaeologists have proposed a migration origin with an influx of people from the Virgin Anasazi region (Gunnerson 1969) or from the northwestern Plains (Aikens 1966). Researchers base these suppositions on Fremont material traits that are similar to those of people from outside of the Fremont region, such as tipi rings, shield pictographs, projectile point forms, moccasins, and pottery manufacturing techniques. None of these theories seems to adequately explain the variation that exists within the Fremont region (Madsen 1979). The patterning of Fremont material traits has led archaeologists to outline a number of regional variants. The most commonly used model divides the Fremont area into five sub–regions (Marwitt 1970) (Figure 2) based on differences in architecture, ceramics, figurine and rock art styles, and means of subsistence. Traits do not stay contained within sub–regions; rather they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Mormon Polygamy INTRODUCTION When one thinks about marriages or weddings in the United States, Americans may often reminiscence on two individuals tying the knot. However, in the western United States, and in parts of Canada, more and more people are practicing polygamy, which is the act of an individual marrying another person(s), after one already has a spouse. Although the practice is illegal, individuals within the Fundamental Latter–Day Saints Church partake in the activity, as it is a divine part and calling of their religion. The FLDS is a break–off sect off the mainstream Mormon, or Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints, Church. The Mormon Church originally practiced polygamy, up until The Manifesto, which was issued in 1890, by Wilford Woodruff, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Holding out Help, a non–profit organization based in Utah, has sought out to help people escape polygamist communities ("Holding Out Help"). Other than that, there is not many resources or places available for the women that are seeking justice from the harmful communities they grew up in Short Creek. I have discovered this from my research, in addition to the lack of knowledge individuals have about the mainstream Mormon Church, the FLDS, and polygamy. Although the Mormon Church used to promote polygamy in the 19th century, they do not practice polygamy, at least in this lifetime, according to Miller. They are two separate entities, and many people get confused by this. I have seen this from my own personal experiences, when I say that I have family from the state of Utah. Many people believe that all that there is to do in Utah is have more than one wife. I am not certain on who needs to make sure that there is a line of difference between the Mormon Church and the Fundamental Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints, but there needs to be one if the Mormon Church wants separation from the FLDS ... • 9. Utah Symphony and Utah Opera Merger 1.Bill Bailey, chairman of the board of the Utah Opera Organization, could use McClelland's need theory to support the merger with the Utah symphony based on the three principles that are entailed in the theory; need for achievement, need for affiliation, and need for power (Kreitner & Kinicki, 2010, p. 215). Firstly, the need for achievement is met by understanding that people strive to master difficult situations, endeavors or challenges. This idea works on both an organizational level, as well as an individual level. From an organizational level, it is well known that a merger of this magnitude had never been attempted. With that brings a great challenge to succeed, and lets the leadership work in new and innovative ways to make... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anne's position allowed her to exert an enormous amount of power and influence on her organization. She was the driving force behind all the successes during her tenure, and could use those strengths to help be a leader in the merger. She understands how arts organizations function, both from leading them and from being in a key position on the performance side. This lends her great credibility with those who work under her, and she should keep in mind the things that were on her mind when she was with the performers. With her position, she possesses almost all power in regards to the media and negotiations. She should explain the idea of the merger openly and honestly to her employees and the press, such that all grievances can be aired and met head on. In regards to dealing with Keith Lockhart, the Utah Symphony's musical director, Anne should focus on including and educating Keith so that he feels motivated to be a leader and example himself in such a merger. Without Keith, the likelihood of success for the merger would be small, and fear of the expected outcomes of his influence on his symphony could push him to not be motivated. One of Keith's' primary concerns is that "The only negative I perceive about this idea is that this type of merger hasn't been done in America before" (Delong, 2005, p. 8). With this in mind, Anne could point to her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact, we should strive to achieve all the dreams we have in our hearts, which is an ideology that I live by. I'm only 17 years old, yet I have already found myself interested in many aspects of life. For instance, I taught myself how to play the guitar and juggle. I have continued practicing these talents for the past 5 years. Moreover, I have visited over 30 countries worldwide, which include Spain, Japan, Argentina, plus several states in the USA. Due to my broad international travel experiences, I was able to get knowledge about other cultures and nations, which has not only enhanced my way of thinking but has also enriched the minds... I chose to hold the fundraiser at a mall due to the high influx of people shopping there. All the items that I gathered for the fundraiser were all donated by my classmates at school. So when three friends of mine and I set up our stand for the fundraiser, we were stopped by mall security. They stated that it's against mall regulations for a fundraiser to take place without the permission of the mall owner. Plus, we were fined $200 by the mall for attempting to commit an action against regulations. The fact that we were fined such a high figure really put my friends and I down. However, I did not stay de–motivated for long, as I immediately set up a meeting with the mall owner, and after long hours of filing paperwork for confirmation; my friends and I were allowed to hold the fundraiser. After completing that, I realized that I am a determined person when it comes to a matter which is important to me. In the end, the fundraiser raised an outstanding $3000. • 12. The Tempest Critical Analysis The Tempest is about an ousted Duke of Milan ,Prospero, who has been living in exile on a remote island for the past twelve years with his daughter Miranda. He is a powerful magician, who happens to be the master of Ariel and Caliban, and a guy who really likes his books. When Prospero's enemies wash up on shore, he uses his black magic to seek revenge and restore himself to power. The Tempest belongs to the genre of Elizabethan romance plays. It combines elements of tragedy with those of romantic comedy, and like one of Shakespeare's plays previously, it asks deeper questions that are not completely resolved at the end. The tone that seeps into the play is one of wonder, amazement, and admiration. Mystery is still present , but the magic performed is not black and scary. The version that seems to grasp my attention more, would have to be theUtah Valley University interpretation because it takes Shakespeare's main purpose and tone but shows it in its own unique way. Furthermore, with its silly drunkards, the play has a certain lightness to it and even the so called killers of the King tell hilarious jokes and are lighthearted. Young was convinced that the Mormons would not live in peace anywhere in the east. He had guidebooks about the Oregon Trail, which contained the most reserved place in the entire west which was near the Great Salt Lake. Young was an excellent organiser (he organised the move to Nauvoo), a down to earth man, and was a determined man. He decided to move west and left Nauvoo in the spring of 1846. My mom drove down with me to help me move into my apartment and all of my belongings easily fit between our two cars. About halfway through the semester, everything kind of fell apart. I hated my program, I didn't like the atmosphere of the university and I wanted out. It was not anything like I was hoping, and I decided I was definitely not going to stay. However, I wanted to finish out the semester and tie up all my loose ends before I transferred. After a couple weeks of heavy research, hours on the phone, and lots and lots of emails, I was set to transfer to Boise State University located in Boise, Idaho. The Mormon Battalion was a group of 543 men who enlisted for the sake of saving their religious freedom. The Mormons had recently been chased out of Illinois and were going to embark on their search for religious freedom and peace. Brigham Young the new president of the church asked President James K. Polk for assistance to travel to the west . President Polk didn't like the idea of granting them money to settle out of the United States territory. Luckily for the Mormons a man by the name of Thomas Kane came to their rescue. Thomas Kane had connections through his father to the president. He persuaded Polk to make the Mormon Battalion. In 1854, the LDS church said that they would pay for the first usable coal mine within forty miles of Salt Lake City. The first coal mine was in Summit County. Its name was Coalville, and it was about forty miles from Salt Lake City. The Mormons built a railroad to the Coalville Coal Mine. It went to the Book Cliffs; that was discovered as Utah's richest coal deposit. Coal mining had three big challenges The first problem with mining was labor. Most people that worked in the coal mines were immigrants that came because they believed that mining would make them rich. The second problem was money. The workers often complained about how low their wages were, and how high the store prices were in mining camps. The last one was a safety concerns. It was very dangerous working in coal mines. • 29. Understanding Weaknesses Of The Four Day Workweek Understanding Weaknesses of the Four–Day Workweek Four–day workweek, like the name suggests, calls for replacing the five eight–hour days with four ten–hour days without changes in hourly earnings or weekly earnings. Therefore, the same number of hours of work and leisure are provided at the same earnings. The concept of a compressed workweek is not new, even if it is not the norm for most jobs. Proposals to reduce weekly hours of work, a major concern of American labor in the early years of century, are again a serious concern to many people. The 2008 National Study of Employers, released by the Families and Work Institute, found that 38 percent of US firms allow a compressed workweek for some employees. Eight percent permit it for all or most employees (Gardner). When a growing number of employers are considering converting to a compressed four–day workweek, it is important to understand positives and negatives of the new work schedule, to analyze a specific example of company that have failed in converting to the new policy, and to understand additional factors to consider before the implementation of the new policy. An advantage brought to employers is that the four–day workweek helps companies save money incurred on daily operation. When employees cram 40 hours of work into four days, companies can save energy bills by closing for an extra one day per week. For example, in 2009, Utah became the first state to institute an official four–day workweek for all state ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
