I Say The Rosary Research Paper
Nowadays, some people believe it is not important to pray the rosary anymore. The people that think that are very wrong. Mary made fifteen
promises that relate to people that say the rosary. These promises are very important to everyone, in the church, and not in the church. A few of the
promises that are important to me in my life are some of the best things to live by in the world. One of these promises is that Mary will give her
special protection and the greatest graces to all those who say the Rosary. This is important in my life because St. John Paul II is one of my biggest
role models. He trusted in Mary and prayed the Rosary all of the time. Because of this, he was saved when the assassin shot him in 1981. It is said that

Mary Had Been Immaculately Conceived Without Original Sin
Roman Catholic Church proclaimed that Mary had been immaculately conceived without original sin or its stain, which is a corrupt nature due to the
original sin. This is call the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception. It was officially defined by Pope Pius IX in 1854. The reference for the doctrine
is Luke 1:28. When Gabriel said to Mary that she was highly favored and blessed among women, Mary herself was troubled and considered what such
salutation meant. The angel explained in verses 30–33 that such greeting was given because God had chosen her as the mother of the messiah. The
Catholics deduce the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception from the interpretation of 'highly favored and blessed,' which went too far from the
context. It is not clear why the Catholic Church claims such a strange doctrine. A Catholic priest argued that Mary should be free from original sin so
that Jesus could be free from original sin and that God graciously and miraculously made Mary without original sin. If Mary' immaculate condition was
necessary for Jesus' immaculateness, Mary's parents should have been immaculate. Or, if God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But a Rosary prayer titled "the Salve Regina" starts as; "Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we
cry..." They do cry to Mary. The Catechism 2675 of the Catholic Church says that "the Churches developed their prayer to the holy Mother of God,
centering it on the person of Christ manifested in his mysteries." The Catholics do pray to Mary. They made Mary a divine being. It is an idolatry.
They call Mary the Mother of God as if she has divinity. When Elisabeth greeted Mary saying "the mother of my lord should come to me," Mary
replies, "My spirit rejoices in God my savior." Mary knew that she was a human being who needed a savior. Both Elisabeth and Mary should have had
no idea of blasphemy such as exalting Mary to the Mother of

A Short Story : Fatima

Religion 6th period 8th grade
2 October 2017 Fatima
The story all began in 1916 when a young boy appeared to three young children. The three children's name were Jacinta and her brother francisco and
their cousin Lucia.. This story is a great story that should inspire everyone to pray the Rosary and become better at their prayers. Lucia was nine years
old, Fransisco was eight years old, and Jacinta was six years old. One day, a really strong wind blew over the hill where the young children were
playing. Above the trees they saw something coming at them. They describe the boy that came to them to be about fifteen years old. They also
say that his clothes were whiter than snow and as clear as a crystal. The children say that he was very beautiful saying to them " Do not be afraid! I
am the angel of peace." Please pray with me. So the angel knelt bowing his head. The three children looked at angel and repeated the prayer that he
just said, " My God, I adore Thee, I hope in Thee and I love Thee. I ask pardon for all those who do not believe in the Thee, do not adore Thee, do
not hope in Thee and do not love Thee." The Angel said the prayer several times and told them to continue praying this way. The Angel said thatJesus
and Mary were listening to their prayers, then he disappeared. Francisco could not hear the Angel, but he could see him. Later in the summer, when the
little children were playing around there favorite well, the Angel

Native American Tribes Of Native Americans In The 17th And...
During the 17th and 18th centuries, the Illinois were an Indian tribe situated around the Great Lakes. As with most other Native American tribes, they
encountered the French expanders. The French were expanding their territories to the Great Lakes because of fur trading. They traded fur, clothes,
jewels, and food with the Illinois. After encountering the Illinois traditions and customs, the French wanted to overpower them and place the tribe
under their way of life. A strong Catholic country, the French despised the Illinois's polygamous and polytheistic lifestyle. In an attempt to convert the
tribes to Catholicism, the French sent missionaries to spread the Gospel and teach the faith. They were not met with as much adversity as expected.
Illinois Indian women were attracted to Catholicism because of the freedoms the faith gave them from their everyday lives and the strong influence of
a prominent woman from within the tribe. Societal norms in the 17th and 18th centuries dictated that men fill the role of the head of the household.
Similarly, the Illinois men held power within the tribe. Not only were they in charge of hunting wild game and trading with the French, but they were
also given power over women in their homes. According to document 3, if a husband found his wife unfaithful, he was given permission to kill her.
However, this rule did not apply to the women. Men were allowed to participate in sodomy and polygamy. They could have multiple wives and

The Culture Of The Italian Culture
The Description The cultural group I decided to gain more insight on through this experience was the Italian culture. Explain history and describe! The
immersion experiences in which I participated were great opportunities to learn about the culture in more depth. The first experience I was able to
attend was on June 13, 2015. In downtown Indianapolis Indiana, I had the opportunity to attend the Italian Culture Festival. Organized each year by the
Holy Rosary Catholic Church, this festival was full of music, cultural food, and I was lucky enough to experience a traditional Italian religious
procession and Mass (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). The festival was packed with people from the city and from the Italian culture. I had
never experienced a festival such as the one held in Indianapolis. Being from the east coast and not of the Italian culture, the festival was a
refreshing yet, uncomfortable experience at times. I observed a traditional dance, the tarantella and those around the area all seemed to know most
of the steps or the words to some of the songs in the set they played. The locals tried to get me to dance along but, I could not keep up with them on
the fly. The tarantella is one of the most famous of Italian dances and performers dance quickly to an upbeat song (Holy Rosary Catholic Church,
2015). It is said that the performers "sweat out" the poison of a deadly tarantula and the dance could last for hours and could be religious in nature to
some.

Mary The Mother Of God Standing On A Hillside Of Medjugorje
In June of 1981, six children claimed to see Mary the Mother of God standing on a hillside of Medjugorje, a small town in south–east Yugoslavia.
These children, four girls and two boys, claim to continue to have Marian apparitions every day, to this day. Thousands of pilgrims travel to
Medjugorje each year to witness the visionaries' apparitions. Currently, these apparitions are not approved by the Catholic Church. These
apparitions are real and there is Biblical and physical proof for it. Many come to Medjugorje and claim to witness miracles, such as healings and
other miraculous events. Some claim that these "miracles" are actually satanic and lead people father farther away from Jesus. These claims are
absolutely false, as hundreds are converted to Christianity, healed, and brought closer to God by this one place. On June 24, 1981, Vicka Ivonovic
woke from a nap to go out to play with her two friends, Ivanka Ivonovic and Mirjana Dragicevic. When she met up with them, they were at the base
of the hillside near the town of Medjugorje. Their faces were flushed and Mirjana pointed to the hillside saying, "Look up there – the Madonna"
(Parsons 6). Vicka did not even look before turning away and running back to the safety of the village. While on her way back to the village, she ran
into Ivan Dragicevic, one of her friends. After Vicka explained her encounter with Ivanka and Mirjana, Ivan agreed to follow her back to the hillside.

The Sacramental Research Paper
The Sacramental of the Rosary Growing up in a Catholic family and attending Catholic school, my aunt, Sister Antonella Bayer, experienced many
sacraments and sacramentals throughout her life. At school, she had the holy water fonts to make the sign of the cross when coming into class. Her
home environment consisted of praying before bed with her mother, and praying the litanies with her father during Forty Hours and Holy Week
services. As she grew up, she absolutely connected with one sacramental in general which was the rosary. As a result of numerous experiences with her
family and the Holy Trinity, Sister Antonella Bayer's favorite sacramental is the rosary. Sister Antonella Bayer's origins of the sacramental began
when she was in grade school. She took part in a "living rosary" during the May crowning at St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. In this
living rosary, the children wore beautiful spring dresses while they were the beads of the rosary. When their turn came, they would say out... Show

The real presence, or really real of God is evident in each and every person in some way, shape, or form. Sacramentals bring us closer to God in our
own way and as we said in class, "Receive what you are, and become more and more what you are." The more we bring God into our lives, the
more we will be like God in our life. The presence of God will be different for everyone, for everyone experiences conditions differently, but it is
through these experiences that build us into what God wants for us. In these experiences, we all have "Key Experiences," such as the death of Sister
Antonella Bayer's parents that shape us the greatest. Even when the experiences aren't the best God is still present in order to bring us up and to help
us keep going. They are what bring the presence of God in our life just as the sacraments themselves

I remember the first day at Holy Rosary very vividly. I was five years old and I walked in with my best friend at the time Bernadette Keppler. We had

about Bernadette. When I was in kindergarden i didn't know anyone in the other class so moving into first grade was weird seeing all these new
people. Every year at Holy Rosary I would make new friends with people I didn't know went to our school or that came to our school that year. Now in

after school and they would try to help me focus. In fifth grade we started getting letter grades instead of ones twos threes and fours. That year I
really struggled to focus and it didn't help that that was the year my parents got a divorce. In the end of sixth grade I finally got medicine for my

Excise A Tumor Poem Analysis
The first line in "How to Excise a Tumor" is "don't fall in love with it, whatever you do," and given this poem seems like it is going to be about how
to remove a tumor, this advice seems fairly obvious. After all, who would fall in love with something as horrible as a tumor? But for Safiya Sinclair,
this is the opening line, the defining line, of this poem and in her poem, "How to Excise a Tumor," Safiya Sinclair usesthe speaker's tumor as a symbol
for an unwanted child. Through the poetical devices such as metaphors and imagery, Sinclair weaves a tale of a tumor and its human.
"How to Excise a Tumor" is a relatively short poem of 27 lines. It details what advice the speaker has to those who, presumably, have discovered they
have a tumor. She, the speaker, gives suggestions and warnings like "don't fall inlove with [the tumor]" and "it will always want more that you can
give." This is good advice to those with literal tumors as well as those whose tumors are a bit more metaphorical, as is the speaker's tumor. Her
tumor is an undesired child, possibly the product of sexual assault. The speaker says the tumor "will move to leech at your nipples, and other parts
of you will grow hot" to show how the reader's initial uncaring provisions will turn into warmth and affection for the child. As the reader's affection
grows and the child "make[s] a home in the damp chasms of your heart," the speaker believes "you'll begin to see the good in everything," but despite
how wonderful that situation might sound, the speaker lets the readers know otherwise. She again warns the reader that the tumor will "[make] such a
mes of your dreams" and to not "give in to accidental pleasure." All of the speaker's warnings show that she regrets giving into her tumor and not
doing more to get rid of it which creates a theme of unhappiness.
That theme is further supported by the metaphors scattered throughout "How to Excise a Tumor." One such metaphor is the "blind aphid." An aphid is
a small bug that feeds destructively on plants and a blind aphid would be particularly undiscerning. Without sight, the aphid "chew[s] straight through
the core." In other words, the aphid or the tumor continues eating and taking until it has destroyed the

St. Philomena was born on January 10th, 291 in Greece. St. Philomena's name in latin is Filialuminis which means daughter of light. St. Philomena's
parents were both royal from a small state in Greece. Her father was forced to have his daughter marry emperor Diocletian. "My virginity, which I
have vowed to God, comes before everything, before you, before my country. My kingdom is Heaven." St. Philomena rejected the emperor because
she made a promise to herself that her virginity belonged to God. Because St. Philomena would not accept his hand in marriage, he forced guards to

"Pray to Saint Philomena. Whatever you ask from her, She will obtain for you." – Pope Gregory XVI. St. Philomena is known as "The Wonder
Worker" because she has listened to prayers and requests. St. Philomena can help me in my day to day life by being an inspiration for me. She is a
role model because she was abused and killed at a young age for loving God unconditionally. She can help me in my faith by looking up to her when
i am having a hard time. St. Philomena did not give up, even though she was tortured. I can grow in faith with the help of St. Philomena and God by
following their footsteps. I can follow their footsteps to be holy and faithful. In addition, I can be like the both of them by resisting complaints,
because they did not complain about what they were facing throughout their struggles. I can be loyal to my family, friends, and God just like St.
Philomena was to God.
I chose St. Philomena because I relate to her since she is around my age. I also chose her because when I was around eight years old my mom took
me to a gift shop at Our Lady Of Peace that had figurines, prayer books, bibles, rosaries, crucifixes, and other gifts supplies. When we were there, I
saw the statue of St. Philomena and I thought she was gorgeous.

Stigmata And Religion
Today we will be breaking down the religious aspects in the 1999 supernatural horror film Stigmata. It is one of my favorite movies because of the
allure and how it tried to give a different take on religion. It was one of the first of its kind to explore the concept of Stigmata and in a different light
that was seen highly offensive to Catholics which is where the concept of Stigmata comes from, which is the Roman Church. To some Catholics
stigmata is a sign of holiness, so in theory, there is no reason for an atheist to bare the marks of Jesus. While the movie was amazing to someone like
me because I am a secular humanist and just enjoyed the movie for it being a movie, stigmata lacks a lot of true connection to how stigmata actually
works in terms of how Catholics view it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Classroom Reflection
When walking into Mrs. Fatones' second–grade classroom one can almost feel the positive atmosphere from the smiling faces of the students. The
classroom had a very traditional look to it. The rows were set up in aisles but each child had a partner except for one child who was considered the
"trouble maker". Mrs. Fatone preferred to use the chalkboard rather than the smartboard and her desk was directly in the front right corner
overlooking the whole classroom. There were not many posters or work on display but on the right side of the wall was the "100 Board". Every student
that receives a 100 on a quiz or test, their work will be put up on the board. Mrs. Fatone stated "the students love this feature to the classroom because
it gives them an opportunity to shine. I also see that it pushes students to try to do well on quizzes or test." The 100 board enhances the physical
environment because it gives students a sense of belonging and achievement. Mrs. Fatone was teaching the children about how to pray the Rosary. She
gave every student a sheet that had a picture of the rosary as a visual. The teacher had her own physical rosary to show the students what they
should be looking at while she is giving the lesson. For example, Mrs. Fatone would hold up her Rosary and would point at one of the beads and
would say "put your finger on the first bead, this bead is when we will pray the Our Father." Mrs. Fatone tried to make the students focus their attention

Pope John Paul II added a new set of mysteries, the luminous mysteries, which mark some of the important teachings of Jesus' life. Some Catholics
carry rosaries with them everywhere, in pockets, purses, or wallets.
Medals are small discs, usually made of metal, that depict images of Jesus, Mary, or a saint; they are commonly worn as necklaces but show up in
other formats as well. Theologically their purpose is to remind the believer to be open to God's grace, but Catholics have traditionally believed them
to carry certain power. For instance, a Saint Christopher medal in cars is supposed to protect passengers, while a necklace containing the Miraculous
medal of Mary is said to protect its wearer. There are an enormous number of different medals, each thought to provide a particular protection.
According to Church teaching, the most important sacramental is the use of blessings. Blessings are a form of prayer asking God to grant grace to
the person, place, or thing being blessed. Catholics often say blessings before consuming meals, thanking God for the gift of the food they are about to
eat. Catholic parents have traditionally laid their hands on their children's heads as a form of blessing, asking for their protection and guidance. Some

Henri Matisse 'Chapel Of The Rosary'
Henri Matisse's "Chapel of the Rosary" (1949–1951), is an architectural masterpiece, said by Matisse himself. The chapel obtains personal value,
religious value and aesthetic value. In the late 1940's, Matisse turned to cut–outs as his primary medium. The period of the 'Cut–Outs' have been
described as Matisse's "second life" by the art critic Alastair Sooke; while Matisse had completely changed his medium, he continued to be completely
fascinated with vibrant colours. After a life–saving surgery, the artist was left extremely weak and unable to get out of his bed and painting and
sculpture were a challenge. Here he invented a ground–breaking and completely non–traditional way of making art, he described the making process as

Similarities Between Adam And Eve And Virgin Of The Rosary
Lauren Lavergne
Ms. Beltran
AP Art History 3
Due 1 November 2017
Adam and Eve and Virgin of the Rosary both have their roots set in religion. Adam and Eve is one of the oldest stories in the world. The Virgin of
the Rosary depicts one of the icons of the Christian religion who beared the "savior of the world" Jesus Christ. Both pieces tell a story, different but
connected. The bible connects these two pieces both stories of creation. Both represent the start of a new world of sorts. Adam and Eve Virgin of the
Rosary
Adam and Eve by Albrecht Durer (1507) depicts the story of Adam and Eve reimagined with new meanings and with artistic changes. Adam and Eve
are standing together in a forest that seems to be far removed from the Garden of Eden and seems to be German and seems to eerily resemble a
Grimm fairy tale. Even though the forest seems to be cold Adam and Eve stand naked, and stand in a classical pose (where the person puts their
weight onto one foot). The piece represents naturalism, Eve is taking an apple from a tree. A parrot is perched to the left of them. There are six other
animals that stroll around without any interest in what is going on, the six animals are; an elk, ox, cat, rabbit, mouse, and goat. The sign hanging from
the branch that Adam is holding onto has a contradiction within itself. The piece shows the artist as a citizen of Nuremberg (Noricus), but it says so in
Latin, the Latin language represents the

Mary's Role In Religion
Imagine yourself as a young girl of only twelve and on a cold night in Nazareth, an angel from God appears and asks you a question that would
change the rest of your life. This is exactly what had happened to Mary. She had a choice to answer yes or no and she chose the hardest path. Mary is
important in history because she was the accepted God's invitation to be the mother of Jesus, and devoted her life to God. She also raised, taught, and
influenced our Savior. Mary was born in circa 20 B.C. in Nazareth, Israel. There was no exact month or date that she was born, but the Catholic
Church celebrates her birthday on the eighth of September. Mary also had a very loving and caring family. Her parents encouraged her and taught her

My Cultural Identity
My cultural identity, as I know is Mexican American because both my parents are born in Mexico and I was born here. I can also be defined as a
Chicana because that is another way used to call a Mexican American. My culture can be seen in so many different ways like for example it can be
seen in food, music, religion, dance, art, festivals, and even more. Most of these traditions have changed a little bit over time as they were brought to
the U.S. What I mean by that is that some of those traditions were brought from Mexico, and had a little change into them because they were combined
with some traditions that have already been here in the U.S.
An example of an important tradition in my culture would be a quinceanera. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After bringing up so many topics like that I came to realize that having a quinceanera is a one in a lifetime celebration and it will be a memory that
I can cherish forever. I was really excited to start planning. We went to the first banquet hall and I was in love with everything! It was so big with
chandeliers everywhere, colorful lights going off and on, the dancefloor was pretty huge with a stage so that the band can play there and people can
dance, and there were so many tables. I could just imagine how beautiful it would look once it was all decorated. Then we went to the church where
my mother and father met, and booked the date for the ceremony. Once we booked the date at the church, I went into the actual church, bent down and
I thanked God and the VirginMary for another day of life and for everything to go well as I planned my quinceanera. The mass ceremony is the most
important part of a quinceanera because the Bible and the rosary, the tiara and or crown, the bouquet of flowers, and the people who accompany a
quinceanera hold a spiritual meaning during the ceremony. The crown and or tiara represents the young woman as a princess in God's eyes. The Bible
and Holy rosary are both foundations of faith and gets blessed with Holy Water.

My Cultural Identity In Remember The Titans
What is cultural identity? What is my cultural identity? We can go into my mind to see what we can find. I am a calm, easygoing, relaxed, athletic, and
a somewhat independent latin–american person. I believe this because I am easy to get along with, I sometimes want to do things on my own, and I
exercise and play sports. Since I am latin, I have to speak spanish at home or around my family, but I speak english outside of home. My parents don't
speak english, so they use me as a translator wherever we go. This is a somewhat representation of my cultural identity. We will find out the rest of my
cultural identity with a representation of my rosary, watching Remember the Titans, having some food.
My favorite movie is Remember the Titans. It is a sports and drama movie, directed by Boaz Yakin, which also directed other films like Max, and

that same exact day, no heart, no deer was brought to the table. Oscar looks down on his father, and Ricardo looks up at him, Oscar with his
piercing eyes, full of hate, had gone on a rampage, running toward the forest, banging his hand against his head, he was "en candela". Oscar had been
craving deer heart all that week, this was the 5th time Ricardo had promised him. He had just about enough with his lies. Walking in the middle of the

Summary Of Bram Stoker's 'Vampire Religion'
Often, when we think of certain situations it makes us feel uncomfortable or gives us goosebumps. The thought of vampires automatically makes me
think of blood, fire and evil activities. I have always wondered why vampires seem to not like rosary. As I read Dracula I noticed that he did not like
rosary which is associated with Christ. After reading Dracula, I was able to determine that it is not the rosary object itself, but the thought of what the
object actually is. Bram Stoker's version of Dracula was associated with a Christian theme. Dracula was evil which would typically not be associated
with anything Christian like so he was opposed to it. The article that was the most appealing to me relating to Dracula and religion is called "Vampire
Religion" by Christopher Herbert. The article expressed the religious symbols in Bram Stoker's Dracula. The article also discussed how the people of
Transylvania were very superstitious. Herbert goes on to discuss how Stoker incorporates Christianity and vampirism in Dracula. Herbert's article
interested me because I noticed how Dracula's actions and Jonathan Harker's beliefs clashed in the book. Moreover, Herbert's article spoke in depth
about the various religious symbols shown in Stoker's Dracula. Herbert stated, "Its characters pray constantly for the intercession of "Almighty God" in
their struggles with the demonic; they cross themselves, brandish crucifixes, and invoke the protective powers of communion wafers" (Herbert 100).

Ready Pull Out Your Rosary Analysis
"Ready, Set, Pull Out Your Rosary!" by Morgan Berendes is a story of a girl's first experience on a plane ride. She starts the story with her emotions
and feelings before she boards the plane. Next she talks about the plane ride itself and gives descriptive information about the trip. Finally, she
explains the landing and getting off the plane. Morgan is very nervous and goes through various emotions through the whole trip. Something along
the way helps ease her fear and makes her feel comfort; she remembers this little detail for the rest of her life. Everyone has different experiences with
plane rides, some good and some bad. This is a narration essay with lots of descriptive details. The author used a very good vocabulary selection

Similarities Between The Christian Rosary And The Buddhist...
"A religious individual may most gloriously carry out his or her own rituals, as a part of his or her cultural identity, but the moment, that person starts
to build a wall of separation between the self and the rest of humanity, coaxed by the textual commands of a scripture, the healthy religiousness turns
into dangerous fundamentalism, which is a threat to both the self and the society." (Abhijit Naskar). In the recent history of our society, the actions of
religious extremists have driven people apart, and hatred has grown from a lack of ecumenism between those of different faiths. By focusing on the
differences between religions, and not on the latent similarities that inherently exist between different faiths, people become blinded to how various
religions are all rooted in the same philosophies. However, by focusing on the similarities of different religion, through philosophies, rituals, or
teachings, we can then learn how to tear down walls, grow as people, and become cognitive of our joint humanity. With the necessity of ecumenical
relations in our community, it serves humans to see the similarities between the faiths that can divide us. On such similarity exists between the rituals
of the Christian Rosary and the Buddhist tradition of Prayer Wheels, both are physical guides for repetitive prayers and personal reflection and
meditation. The Catholic tradition of the Rosary is a long held practice of Marian prayer which dates back millennia. The tradition of the

Catholic Religion Research Paper
Coming from an Eastern Orthodox Church, I had very little knowledge of Catholicism. I decided to take Basics of Catholic Faith course in order to
have an understanding of the Catholic Church and their teachings. In today's world, there are many religions that teach different aspects of God.
Catholic teachings offer a lot of moral and spiritual guidance that other Churches narrows down. Catholic Church says "Jesus is good news, and
Catholic faith means graciously accepting that good news and sharing it with others." This base idea of Catholicism is what people might get, that they
can't get from anywhere else.
The concept of "Thin places" really stood out during the course. The idea of a place that is borderline between heaven and earth that ... Show more

Holy Communion, Baptism, Confession etc., are the times we feel closer to God's presence, therefore; Sacraments are like thin places, are there
to remind us of God. "Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries" is how the
Eucharistic liturgy starts, which is basically taking us into a thin place. These ceremonies and sacraments take us way closer to God and help us
enter into a sacred mystery where we encounter Christ. "Every sacrament is a window through which the light of Christ can shine into our
darkness" and through these, Christ comes into our lives. After learning about this in lecture, and having a better understanding of "thin places", I
am able to feel God's presence more while taking Holy Communion, which I would gladly say I am that person who walks into Church, feeling
God's presence by entering onto the Holy ground. I feel a connection so strong at that place that I never felt anywhere else. I feel like God is
listening whenever I am there. I get a serene feeling that renews my faith that we are indeed connected to God and such places do help us feel that.
Everybody has a thin place that they may recognize or not, but those places do bring in a form of grace and peace. God is not distant from us, but it
is our view that helps us realize

St. Philip Neri Research Paper
St. Philip Neri was and interesting man.
St. Philip was born on July 21st, 1515 in Florence, Italy. He lived and grew up there too. He died on May 26th, 1595. May 26th is also his feast day. St
Philip has three very important symbols. These symbols are: a lily, a rosary, and an angel holding a book. The lily symbolizes his kind heart and soul.
The rosary symbolizes his prayer and faithfulness to God. The rosary also means of his love for Mary. The angel holding a book symbolizes that he
was a wise man and people often came to him to ask for advice. This Saint was officially canonized a saint in 1622.
St. Philip was widely known as the " Apostle of Rome". This saint had an unusual sense of humor. His joyus manner

the end, then a small row of beads, one alone, then three grouped, then another alone. Then there's a small medallion. The loop is made up of beads
grouped in tens, with each group separated by a space containing one single bead. So that's the physical thing. There are five beads from the crucifix to
the sacred heart of Mary dividing the entire rosary into two exact parts from the center to the middle of the tenth and eleventh bead. The rosary has a

Building Faith Community From Day One
Building Faith Community From Day One
As an "architect" in a Catholic school, the principal bears the load of responsibility for setting the tone for each school year and " as an architect of
Catholic culture, is to connect the school's core values and beliefs to Christ and the Gospel intentionally, deliberately, and continually." (Cook, 2001, p.
20) The principal, being the spiritual leader of the school, helps support the Catholic school's mission and the xxxx of the Catholic identity of the
school. They must lead through example and build the faith community. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops states that " Within such
communities teachers and pupils experience together what it means to live a life of prayer, personal responsibility and freedom reflective of Gospel
Values." (United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, 1973, p. 30) During the first week of school is when the mission of the school and the
Gospel Values or the " core beliefs and values of Catholic schooling," should be reveled and xxx to the faith community. My vision would be to reveal
the Gospel values of Faith and Love and the greatest link for those is prayer.
Prayer
The National Directory for Catechist states that "faith must be know, celebrated, lived, and expressed in prayer." (United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops, 2005, p. 60) Prayer is a direct path to growing closer with God and it is fundamental task of a catechist to teach others how to pray.
Prayer is a way to speak

Spirituality In The Ten Principal Virtues Of The Blessed...
One of the ten principal virtues of the Blessed Virgin Mary is "continual mental prayer." During her life, the Blessed Mother was constantly in tune with
God's will. Every morning she woke up thinking about God, she thought about Him continually throughout the day, and she went to bed thinking about
Him. She was the new Eve, who possessed the same preternatural gifts that Adam and Eve possessed before they sinned.
As a reminder, in addition to an immortal soul, God gave our first parents, Adam and Eve, the preternatural gifts of integrity, bodily immortality, and
infused knowledge. The definition of preternatural is "that which is beyond the natural but is not strictly supernatural."
The preternatural gift of integrity (the absence of concupiscence) gave Adam and Eve the natural ability to control their desires and passions. Although
they could be tempted from outside forces, they could not be tempted from within. The preternatural gift of bodily immortality meant that Adam and
Eve possessed bodies that would never die. The preternatural gift of infused knowledge meant that they did not have to study, work, or sacrifice to
obtain knowledge. They were created with some knowledge of God and complete knowledge of the secular world.
It was the first sin of Adam and Eve that destroyed the preternatural gifts of integrity, bodily immortality, and infused knowledge. From then on, every
person who has come into existence has been conceived without the preternatural gifts, except for

Eastern Orthodox Vs Roman Catholic
Eastern Orthodox vs Roman Catholic In the funeral world there are a lot of different styles of funerals. For example, Eastern Orthodox and
Roman Catholic funerals. Both very different, but at the same time they have several things in common. In funerals there is an abundance of
things to compare and contrast. We will be looking at different ways the notification of death is handled in both of these religions, removal,
embalming, dressing/casketing, visitation requirements/rituals, and interment or cremation. When you receive the first call for a Roman Catholic,
you used to have to notify the clergy, but now you do not have to notify the clergy the family still may prefer too. You also have to abide by the
churches rules, the church may require clergy to know. However in Eastern Orthodox depending in the area clergyman does not have to be notified
either, but if you are in an area that does require the priest to be notified you would call the clergy when you received the first call. In most cases
the notification of the priest is taken care of by the family and they already have had the prayer service before the call to the funeral director. When
making the removal of remains of Roman Catholic there are no restrictions upon the deceased layperson. Most of the time you will see restrictions
enforced for Priests or Nuns. Like the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox has no restrictions on the deceased. You would just follow usual procedures
according to the church or the local

What Is Our Lady Of Fatima's First Apparition?
On May 13, 2017, it will be the 100th anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima's first apparition. The lady had appeared to three Portuguese children in
Fatima. The names of the children were Lucia Dos Santos, Francisco Marto, and Jacinta Marto. During the times of the apparitions the children went
through a lot, but that all changed after an incredible miracle. On May 13, 1917 these three shepherd children were at Cova da Iria, where all the
apparitions took place. When Our Lady appeared the children were afraid, but when she spoke their fear was gone. During that first apparition, she
asked them to go to the cova for six months, at the same hour, on the thirteenth day of the month. While trying to keep this a secret, the... Show more

The children had gained much attention, especially from officers, who were quite furious. During each visit, the Lady stressed the importance of
praising the rosary, wearing the Brown Scapular of Mount Carmel, and doing acts of sacrifice. They had also been told that Jacinta and Francisco
would go to heaven soon, while Lucia stayed on Earth doing what God asked of her. Furthermore, the three Portuguese children were told "If my
requests are not granted, Russia will spread its errors throughout the world, raising up wars and persecutions against the church. The good will be
martyred, the Holy Father will suffer much, and various nations will be annihilated." The last apparition took place on October 13, 1917. Our
Lady's last request was that a chapel be built in her honor where she appeared. She also told them to continue praying the rosary, and that the war
would end soon. Then before 70,000 witnesses Our Lady of Fatima performed a miracle. Up and down, large and small, close and far the sun went,
it was said to have been "dancing". That wasn't all, anyone who saw the "dancing" sun was healed both mentally and physically. This miracle
shocked all at the time, and it still shocks people today. The youngest of the children, Jacinta died soon after, then followed by Francisco. They were
canonixpzed saints on the 100th anniversary of the first apparition. Lucia Dos Santos however still has not been canonized, as she just passed in 2005

Fatima Effects
The events of Fatima offer the world a more real understanding of Marian apparitions and its effects on the world see how it has not been one
hundred years since the first apparition of Fatima. Fatima is often times not credited towards the political effect it actually had but in this paper we
will look briefly at the political context and the apparition and look at how Fatima did have a true political effect on this world. All throughout Europe
people were dealing with unemployment, stress, and anticlericalism. With soldiers of war coming home to Portugal of horrible war stories, the soon to
be Fatima event was to be a strong symbolic threat for the groups that opposed the anticlerical authorities. War on Portugal broke out on the 9th of

Salazar very frequently used Fatima as his rationale of why such a government system was needed in Portugal. In 1933 he made it clear that
Catholicism was the religion of the Portuguese Nation. However devout he claimed to be, he never passed any powerful roles to the actual Catholic
Church but its influence was prevalent throughout Portugal. Most of the population considered itself catholic and attended Mass. However Salazar still
had control and did not delay in even punishing members of the Church. Soon in the 1950s and 60s it became very clear to Salazar that he cannot
justify his governmental rule with the Catholic faith especially after the Second Vatican Council, many documents were published such as the Pastoral
Constitution on the Church in the Modern World and also A Declaration on Religious Freedom. These clearly put out the message that the church does
not support any specific regime that doesn't guarantee and protect human rights and religious freedom. The acts of Pope Paul VI in the 1960s and 70s
expressed his concern and union with Portugal and will to change their government and essentially Fatima was turn away from legitimatizing
dictatorship to the complete opposite, opposing

A Brief Note On The Mother Of God Standing On A Hillside...
Connor Monahan Dr. Stringer Huma 201 J 17 October 2015 Medjugorje: A Mother's Call to Her Children In June of 1981, six children clamed to see
Mary the Mother of God standing on a hillside of Medjugorje, a small town in south–east Yugoslavia. These children, four girls and two boys, claim to
continue to have Marian apparitions every day, to this day. Thousands of pilgrims each year travel to Medjugorje each year to witness the
visionary's appropriations. These apparitions are not approved by the Catholic Church yet. These apparitions are real and there is Biblical and
physical proof for it. Many come to Medjugorje and claim to witness miracles, such as healings and other miraculous events. Some claim that these
"miracles" are actually satanic and led people father away from Jesus. These claims are absolutely false, and hundreds are converted to Christianity,
healed, and brought closer to God by this one place. On June 24, 1981, Vicka Ivonovic woke from a nap to go out to play with here two friends,
Ivanka Ivonovic and Mirjana Dragicevic. When she met up with them, they were at the base of the hillside near the town of Medjugorje. Their faces
were flushed and Mirjana pointed to the hillside saying, "Look up there – the Madonna" (Parsons 6). Vicka did not even look before turning away and
running back to the safety of the village. While on her way back to the village she ran into Ivan Dragicevic, one of her friends. After Vicka explained

My Grandmother
The first time I took a risk, I was eighteen. I was sitting in my grandmother's kitchen. A large painting of "The Last Supper" hung on the wall, next
to it, rosary beads hung reverently and with care. The beads swung softly as the fan circled lazily above me. My grandmother, mi abuelita, my
second mother sat in front of me. She has always been smaller than my siblings and I. Standing at below five feet, we often had to bend at the waist to
hug her, kissing her cheek in welcome or in thanks. But in that moment, I had never felt so small and young because here I was about to come out to
my grandmother. Here I was sitting in this small kitchen covered in Catholic imagery, her religion the most important thing to her, with the fear of
wrecking this relationship..
The fear was nearly suffocating. My grandmother was a white Puerto Rican woman who has lost so much. When I came out of my mother with
dark skin and curly hair, she had a strong negative reaction to that but she was no different from any other ignorant person I have met throughout my
life in that regard. The fear was all consuming. My mother was there, as support, but I was told I would need to speak for myself in this conversation.
I was to speak to her in a language that was denied me by my family, I was to tell her in Spanish a conversation I had countless times in English. It was
a conversation I had with teachers, doctors, counselors, psychologists, religious leaders, other parents, even other family members! But

Case Study: The Rosary Makers Organization
Introduction: The Rosary Makers organization focuses on making rosaries for people who are unable to afford, had lost their faith, and those who
are joining the military. Rosary makers mission is to give others hope to keep moving forward even though there are challenges we face everyday.
Rosaries helps others learn how to pray and build a bond towards God. This enables them to pray for the good to come in the near future for friends,
family, peace, and etc. Organization developed around the world provides help for others who are struggling to get through living a normal life.
Rosaries that we create will help those who suffered poverty and are part of the military and have or could receive PTSD.
What does the problem look like in your area:
Today many people are facing challenges in their lives whether it's dealing with poverty, serving in the military, or are depressed in need for
guidance and hope; during the tough challenges they face, they tend to lose focus on their faith for God. Poverty is based on a wide variety of people
who are with no home, no food, and losing hope each and everyday because of their misfortune. In the military they face life and death situations
almost everyday. This creates insanity losing their minds because of horrific scenes happening right in front... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I Say The Rosary Research Paper

  • 1. I Say The Rosary Research Paper Nowadays, some people believe it is not important to pray the rosary anymore. The people that think that are very wrong. Mary made fifteen promises that relate to people that say the rosary. These promises are very important to everyone, in the church, and not in the church. A few of the promises that are important to me in my life are some of the best things to live by in the world. One of these promises is that Mary will give her special protection and the greatest graces to all those who say the Rosary. This is important in my life because St. John Paul II is one of my biggest role models. He trusted in Mary and prayed the Rosary all of the time. Because of this, he was saved when the assassin shot him in 1981. It is said that because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Mary Had Been Immaculately Conceived Without Original Sin Roman Catholic Church proclaimed that Mary had been immaculately conceived without original sin or its stain, which is a corrupt nature due to the original sin. This is call the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception. It was officially defined by Pope Pius IX in 1854. The reference for the doctrine is Luke 1:28. When Gabriel said to Mary that she was highly favored and blessed among women, Mary herself was troubled and considered what such salutation meant. The angel explained in verses 30–33 that such greeting was given because God had chosen her as the mother of the messiah. The Catholics deduce the doctrine of the Immaculate Conception from the interpretation of 'highly favored and blessed,' which went too far from the context. It is not clear why the Catholic Church claims such a strange doctrine. A Catholic priest argued that Mary should be free from original sin so that Jesus could be free from original sin and that God graciously and miraculously made Mary without original sin. If Mary' immaculate condition was necessary for Jesus' immaculateness, Mary's parents should have been immaculate. Or, if God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But a Rosary prayer titled "the Salve Regina" starts as; "Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry..." They do cry to Mary. The Catechism 2675 of the Catholic Church says that "the Churches developed their prayer to the holy Mother of God, centering it on the person of Christ manifested in his mysteries." The Catholics do pray to Mary. They made Mary a divine being. It is an idolatry. They call Mary the Mother of God as if she has divinity. When Elisabeth greeted Mary saying "the mother of my lord should come to me," Mary replies, "My spirit rejoices in God my savior." Mary knew that she was a human being who needed a savior. Both Elisabeth and Mary should have had no idea of blasphemy such as exalting Mary to the Mother of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Its claims that it is both organizationally and doctrinally and the original christ and church that was founded by Jesus Christ. The Roman Catholicism represents the continuation of the historical organized church as it developed in western Europe, and is headed by the pope. Which the pope is the bishop of roman Catholic Church. Distinctive beliefs of Catholics include the the doctrines of transubstantiation and Purgatory and distinctive practices include veneration of saints and use of the rosary. Which the rosary is a form of devotion in which five or fifteen decades of Hail Mary's are repeated, each decade preceded by an Our Father and followed by a Glory Be. • 4. A Short Story : Fatima Annalise Vaughn P. Dixon/D. Williams Religion 6th period 8th grade 2 October 2017 Fatima The story all began in 1916 when a young boy appeared to three young children. The three children's name were Jacinta and her brother francisco and their cousin Lucia.. This story is a great story that should inspire everyone to pray the Rosary and become better at their prayers. Lucia was nine years old, Fransisco was eight years old, and Jacinta was six years old. One day, a really strong wind blew over the hill where the young children were playing. Above the trees they saw something coming at them. They describe the boy that came to them to be about fifteen years old. They also say that his clothes were whiter than snow and as clear as a crystal. The children say that he was very beautiful saying to them " Do not be afraid! I am the angel of peace." Please pray with me. So the angel knelt bowing his head. The three children looked at angel and repeated the prayer that he just said, " My God, I adore Thee, I hope in Thee and I love Thee. I ask pardon for all those who do not believe in the Thee, do not adore Thee, do not hope in Thee and do not love Thee." The Angel said the prayer several times and told them to continue praying this way. The Angel said thatJesus and Mary were listening to their prayers, then he disappeared. Francisco could not hear the Angel, but he could see him. Later in the summer, when the little children were playing around there favorite well, the Angel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Native American Tribes Of Native Americans In The 17th And... During the 17th and 18th centuries, the Illinois were an Indian tribe situated around the Great Lakes. As with most other Native American tribes, they encountered the French expanders. The French were expanding their territories to the Great Lakes because of fur trading. They traded fur, clothes, jewels, and food with the Illinois. After encountering the Illinois traditions and customs, the French wanted to overpower them and place the tribe under their way of life. A strong Catholic country, the French despised the Illinois's polygamous and polytheistic lifestyle. In an attempt to convert the tribes to Catholicism, the French sent missionaries to spread the Gospel and teach the faith. They were not met with as much adversity as expected. Illinois Indian women were attracted to Catholicism because of the freedoms the faith gave them from their everyday lives and the strong influence of a prominent woman from within the tribe. Societal norms in the 17th and 18th centuries dictated that men fill the role of the head of the household. Similarly, the Illinois men held power within the tribe. Not only were they in charge of hunting wild game and trading with the French, but they were also given power over women in their homes. According to document 3, if a husband found his wife unfaithful, he was given permission to kill her. However, this rule did not apply to the women. Men were allowed to participate in sodomy and polygamy. They could have multiple wives and prostitutes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Culture Of The Italian Culture The Description The cultural group I decided to gain more insight on through this experience was the Italian culture. Explain history and describe! The immersion experiences in which I participated were great opportunities to learn about the culture in more depth. The first experience I was able to attend was on June 13, 2015. In downtown Indianapolis Indiana, I had the opportunity to attend the Italian Culture Festival. Organized each year by the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, this festival was full of music, cultural food, and I was lucky enough to experience a traditional Italian religious procession and Mass (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). The festival was packed with people from the city and from the Italian culture. I had never experienced a festival such as the one held in Indianapolis. Being from the east coast and not of the Italian culture, the festival was a refreshing yet, uncomfortable experience at times. I observed a traditional dance, the tarantella and those around the area all seemed to know most of the steps or the words to some of the songs in the set they played. The locals tried to get me to dance along but, I could not keep up with them on the fly. The tarantella is one of the most famous of Italian dances and performers dance quickly to an upbeat song (Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2015). It is said that the performers "sweat out" the poison of a deadly tarantula and the dance could last for hours and could be religious in nature to some. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Mary The Mother Of God Standing On A Hillside Of Medjugorje In June of 1981, six children claimed to see Mary the Mother of God standing on a hillside of Medjugorje, a small town in south–east Yugoslavia. These children, four girls and two boys, claim to continue to have Marian apparitions every day, to this day. Thousands of pilgrims travel to Medjugorje each year to witness the visionaries' apparitions. Currently, these apparitions are not approved by the Catholic Church. These apparitions are real and there is Biblical and physical proof for it. Many come to Medjugorje and claim to witness miracles, such as healings and other miraculous events. Some claim that these "miracles" are actually satanic and lead people father farther away from Jesus. These claims are absolutely false, as hundreds are converted to Christianity, healed, and brought closer to God by this one place. On June 24, 1981, Vicka Ivonovic woke from a nap to go out to play with her two friends, Ivanka Ivonovic and Mirjana Dragicevic. When she met up with them, they were at the base of the hillside near the town of Medjugorje. Their faces were flushed and Mirjana pointed to the hillside saying, "Look up there – the Madonna" (Parsons 6). Vicka did not even look before turning away and running back to the safety of the village. While on her way back to the village, she ran into Ivan Dragicevic, one of her friends. After Vicka explained her encounter with Ivanka and Mirjana, Ivan agreed to follow her back to the hillside. When Vicka and Ivan arrived back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Sacramental Research Paper The Sacramental of the Rosary Growing up in a Catholic family and attending Catholic school, my aunt, Sister Antonella Bayer, experienced many sacraments and sacramentals throughout her life. At school, she had the holy water fonts to make the sign of the cross when coming into class. Her home environment consisted of praying before bed with her mother, and praying the litanies with her father during Forty Hours and Holy Week services. As she grew up, she absolutely connected with one sacramental in general which was the rosary. As a result of numerous experiences with her family and the Holy Trinity, Sister Antonella Bayer's favorite sacramental is the rosary. Sister Antonella Bayer's origins of the sacramental began when she was in grade school. She took part in a "living rosary" during the May crowning at St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. In this living rosary, the children wore beautiful spring dresses while they were the beads of the rosary. When their turn came, they would say out... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The real presence, or really real of God is evident in each and every person in some way, shape, or form. Sacramentals bring us closer to God in our own way and as we said in class, "Receive what you are, and become more and more what you are." The more we bring God into our lives, the more we will be like God in our life. The presence of God will be different for everyone, for everyone experiences conditions differently, but it is through these experiences that build us into what God wants for us. In these experiences, we all have "Key Experiences," such as the death of Sister Antonella Bayer's parents that shape us the greatest. Even when the experiences aren't the best God is still present in order to bring us up and to help us keep going. All I remember was who was at my table group Zoe Fuentes and Joseph Doleji. I was so excited to start a new school that I forgot all about Bernadette. When I was in kindergarden i didn't know anyone in the other class so moving into first grade was weird seeing all these new people. Every year at Holy Rosary I would make new friends with people I didn't know went to our school or that came to our school that year. At base I met kids that were in older grades and always thought of them has adults. They were so mature and I wanted to be like them. I would try so hard in class to sit still and focus but I never could. In second grade I got tested for ADHD. I did have it. I would go to classes after school and they would try to help me focus. In fifth grade we started getting letter grades instead of ones twos threes and fours. That year I really struggled to focus and it didn't help that that was the year my parents got a divorce. • 10. Excise A Tumor Poem Analysis The first line in "How to Excise a Tumor" is "don't fall in love with it, whatever you do," and given this poem seems like it is going to be about how to remove a tumor, this advice seems fairly obvious. After all, who would fall in love with something as horrible as a tumor? But for Safiya Sinclair, this is the opening line, the defining line, of this poem and in her poem, "How to Excise a Tumor," Safiya Sinclair usesthe speaker's tumor as a symbol for an unwanted child. Through the poetical devices such as metaphors and imagery, Sinclair weaves a tale of a tumor and its human. "How to Excise a Tumor" is a relatively short poem of 27 lines. It details what advice the speaker has to those who, presumably, have discovered they have a tumor. She, the speaker, gives suggestions and warnings like "don't fall inlove with [the tumor]" and "it will always want more that you can give." This is good advice to those with literal tumors as well as those whose tumors are a bit more metaphorical, as is the speaker's tumor. Her tumor is an undesired child, possibly the product of sexual assault. The speaker says the tumor "will move to leech at your nipples, and other parts of you will grow hot" to show how the reader's initial uncaring provisions will turn into warmth and affection for the child. As the reader's affection grows and the child "make[s] a home in the damp chasms of your heart," the speaker believes "you'll begin to see the good in everything," but despite how wonderful that situation might sound, the speaker lets the readers know otherwise. She again warns the reader that the tumor will "[make] such a mes of your dreams" and to not "give in to accidental pleasure." All of the speaker's warnings show that she regrets giving into her tumor and not doing more to get rid of it which creates a theme of unhappiness. That theme is further supported by the metaphors scattered throughout "How to Excise a Tumor." One such metaphor is the "blind aphid." An aphid is a small bug that feeds destructively on plants and a blind aphid would be particularly undiscerning. Without sight, the aphid "chew[s] straight through the core." In other words, the aphid or the tumor continues eating and taking until it has destroyed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. St. Philomena Loved God with All Her Heart Essays St. Philomena was born on January 10th, 291 in Greece. St. Philomena's name in latin is Filialuminis which means daughter of light. St. Philomena's parents were both royal from a small state in Greece. Her father was forced to have his daughter marry emperor Diocletian. "My virginity, which I have vowed to God, comes before everything, before you, before my country. My kingdom is Heaven." St. Philomena rejected the emperor because she made a promise to herself that her virginity belonged to God. St. Philomena can help me in my day to day life by being an inspiration for me. She is a role model because she was abused and killed at a young age for loving God unconditionally. She can help me in my faith by looking up to her when i am having a hard time. St. Philomena did not give up, even though she was tortured. I can grow in faith with the help of St. Philomena and God by following their footsteps. I can follow their footsteps to be holy and faithful. In addition, I can be like the both of them by resisting complaints, because they did not complain about what they were facing throughout their struggles. I can be loyal to my family, friends, and God just like St. Philomena was to God. I chose St. Philomena because I relate to her since she is around my age. I also chose her because when I was around eight years old my mom took me to a gift shop at Our Lady Of Peace that had figurines, prayer books, bibles, rosaries, crucifixes, and other gifts supplies. • 12. Stigmata And Religion Today we will be breaking down the religious aspects in the 1999 supernatural horror film Stigmata. It is one of my favorite movies because of the allure and how it tried to give a different take on religion. It was one of the first of its kind to explore the concept of Stigmata and in a different light that was seen highly offensive to Catholics which is where the concept of Stigmata comes from, which is the Roman Church. To some Catholics stigmata is a sign of holiness, so in theory, there is no reason for an atheist to bare the marks of Jesus. While the movie was amazing to someone like me because I am a secular humanist and just enjoyed the movie for it being a movie, stigmata lacks a lot of true connection to how stigmata actually works in terms of how Catholics view it. ... • 13. Classroom Reflection When walking into Mrs. Fatones' second–grade classroom one can almost feel the positive atmosphere from the smiling faces of the students. The classroom had a very traditional look to it. The rows were set up in aisles but each child had a partner except for one child who was considered the "trouble maker". Mrs. Fatone preferred to use the chalkboard rather than the smartboard and her desk was directly in the front right corner overlooking the whole classroom. There were not many posters or work on display but on the right side of the wall was the "100 Board". Every student that receives a 100 on a quiz or test, their work will be put up on the board. Mrs. Fatone stated "the students love this feature to the classroom because it gives them an opportunity to shine. I also see that it pushes students to try to do well on quizzes or test." The 100 board enhances the physical environment because it gives students a sense of belonging and achievement. Mrs. Fatone was teaching the children about how to pray the Rosary. She gave every student a sheet that had a picture of the rosary as a visual. The teacher had her own physical rosary to show the students what they should be looking at while she is giving the lesson. For example, Mrs. Fatone would hold up her Rosary and would point at one of the beads and would say "put your finger on the first bead, this bead is when we will pray the Our Father." Mrs. Fatone tried to make the students focus their attention on the lesson from the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some Catholics carry rosaries with them everywhere, in pockets, purses, or wallets. Medals are small discs, usually made of metal, that depict images of Jesus, Mary, or a saint; they are commonly worn as necklaces but show up in other formats as well. Theologically their purpose is to remind the believer to be open to God's grace, but Catholics have traditionally believed them to carry certain power. For instance, a Saint Christopher medal in cars is supposed to protect passengers, while a necklace containing the Miraculous medal of Mary is said to protect its wearer. There are an enormous number of different medals, each thought to provide a particular protection. According to Church teaching, the most important sacramental is the use of blessings. The chapel obtains personal value, religious value and aesthetic value. In the late 1940's, Matisse turned to cut–outs as his primary medium. The period of the 'Cut–Outs' have been described as Matisse's "second life" by the art critic Alastair Sooke; while Matisse had completely changed his medium, he continued to be completely fascinated with vibrant colours. • 18. Similarities Between Adam And Eve And Virgin Of The Rosary Lauren Lavergne Ms. Beltran AP Art History 3 Due 1 November 2017 Adam and Eve and Virgin of the Rosary both have their roots set in religion. Adam and Eve is one of the oldest stories in the world. The Virgin of the Rosary depicts one of the icons of the Christian religion who beared the "savior of the world" Jesus Christ. Both pieces tell a story, different but connected. The bible connects these two pieces both stories of creation. Both represent the start of a new world of sorts. Adam and Eve Virgin of the Rosary Adam and Eve by Albrecht Durer (1507) depicts the story of Adam and Eve reimagined with new meanings and with artistic changes. Adam and Eve are standing together in a forest that seems to be far removed from the Garden of Eden and seems to be German and seems to eerily resemble a Grimm fairy tale. Even though the forest seems to be cold Adam and Eve stand naked, and stand in a classical pose (where the person puts their weight onto one foot). The piece represents naturalism, Eve is taking an apple from a tree. A parrot is perched to the left of them. There are six other animals that stroll around without any interest in what is going on, the six animals are; an elk, ox, cat, rabbit, mouse, and goat. The sign hanging from the branch that Adam is holding onto has a contradiction within itself. The piece shows the artist as a citizen of Nuremberg (Noricus), but it says so in Latin, the Latin language represents the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My culture can be seen in so many different ways like for example it can be seen in food, music, religion, dance, art, festivals, and even more. Most of these traditions have changed a little bit over time as they were brought to the U.S. What I mean by that is that some of those traditions were brought from Mexico, and had a little change into them because they were combined with some traditions that have already been here in the U.S. An example of an important tradition in my culture would be a quinceanera. ... After bringing up so many topics like that I came to realize that having a quinceanera is a one in a lifetime celebration and it will be a memory that I can cherish forever. It was so big with chandeliers everywhere, colorful lights going off and on, the dancefloor was pretty huge with a stage so that the band can play there and people can dance, and there were so many tables. I could just imagine how beautiful it would look once it was all decorated. Then we went to the church where my mother and father met, and booked the date for the ceremony. Once we booked the date at the church, I went into the actual church, bent down and I thanked God and the VirginMary for another day of life and for everything to go well as I planned my quinceanera. The mass ceremony is the most important part of a quinceanera because the Bible and the rosary, the tiara and or crown, the bouquet of flowers, and the people who accompany a quinceanera hold a spiritual meaning during the ceremony. The crown and or tiara represents the young woman as a princess in God's eyes. The Bible and Holy rosary are both foundations of faith and gets blessed with Holy Water. ... The thought of vampires automatically makes me think of blood, fire and evil activities. I have always wondered why vampires seem to not like rosary. As I read Dracula I noticed that he did not like rosary which is associated with Christ. After reading Dracula, I was able to determine that it is not the rosary object itself, but the thought of what the object actually is. Bram Stoker's version of Dracula was associated with a Christian theme. Dracula was evil which would typically not be associated with anything Christian like so he was opposed to it. The article that was the most appealing to me relating to Dracula and religion is called "Vampire Religion" by Christopher Herbert. The article expressed the religious symbols in Bram Stoker's Dracula. The article also discussed how the people of Transylvania were very superstitious. Herbert goes on to discuss how Stoker incorporates Christianity and vampirism in Dracula. Herbert's article interested me because I noticed how Dracula's actions and Jonathan Harker's beliefs clashed in the book. Moreover, Herbert's article spoke in depth about the various religious symbols shown in Stoker's Dracula. Herbert stated, "Its characters pray constantly for the intercession of "Almighty God" in their struggles with the demonic; they cross themselves, brandish crucifixes, and invoke the protective powers of communion wafers" (Herbert 100). ... • 28. Similarities Between The Christian Rosary And The Buddhist... "A religious individual may most gloriously carry out his or her own rituals, as a part of his or her cultural identity, but the moment, that person starts to build a wall of separation between the self and the rest of humanity, coaxed by the textual commands of a scripture, the healthy religiousness turns into dangerous fundamentalism, which is a threat to both the self and the society." (Abhijit Naskar). In the recent history of our society, the actions of religious extremists have driven people apart, and hatred has grown from a lack of ecumenism between those of different faiths. By focusing on the differences between religions, and not on the latent similarities that inherently exist between different faiths, people become blinded to how various religions are all rooted in the same philosophies. However, by focusing on the similarities of different religion, through philosophies, rituals, or teachings, we can then learn how to tear down walls, grow as people, and become cognitive of our joint humanity. With the necessity of ecumenical relations in our community, it serves humans to see the similarities between the faiths that can divide us. On such similarity exists between the rituals of the Christian Rosary and the Buddhist tradition of Prayer Wheels, both are physical guides for repetitive prayers and personal reflection and meditation. The Catholic tradition of the Rosary is a long held practice of Marian prayer which dates back millennia. The tradition of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Catholic Church says "Jesus is good news, and Catholic faith means graciously accepting that good news and sharing it with others." Holy Communion, Baptism, Confession etc., are the times we feel closer to God's presence, therefore; Sacraments are like thin places, are there to remind us of God. "Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries" is how the Eucharistic liturgy starts, which is basically taking us into a thin place. These ceremonies and sacraments take us way closer to God and help us enter into a sacred mystery where we encounter Christ. "Every sacrament is a window through which the light of Christ can shine into our darkness" and through these, Christ comes into our lives. After learning about this in lecture, and having a better understanding of "thin places", I am able to feel God's presence more while taking Holy Communion, which I would gladly say I am that person who walks into Church, feeling God's presence by entering onto the Holy ground. During her life, the Blessed Mother was constantly in tune with God's will. Every morning she woke up thinking about God, she thought about Him continually throughout the day, and she went to bed thinking about Him. She was the new Eve, who possessed the same preternatural gifts that Adam and Eve possessed before they sinned. As a reminder, in addition to an immortal soul, God gave our first parents, Adam and Eve, the preternatural gifts of integrity, bodily immortality, and infused knowledge. The definition of preternatural is "that which is beyond the natural but is not strictly supernatural." The preternatural gift of integrity (the absence of concupiscence) gave Adam and Eve the natural ability to control their desires and passions. Although they could be tempted from outside forces, they could not be tempted from within. The preternatural gift of bodily immortality meant that Adam and Eve possessed bodies that would never die. The preternatural gift of infused knowledge meant that they did not have to study, work, or sacrifice to obtain knowledge. They were created with some knowledge of God and complete knowledge of the secular world. We will be looking at different ways the notification of death is handled in both of these religions, removal, embalming, dressing/casketing, visitation requirements/rituals, and interment or cremation. When you receive the first call for a Roman Catholic, you used to have to notify the clergy, but now you do not have to notify the clergy the family still may prefer too. You also have to abide by the churches rules, the church may require clergy to know. However in Eastern Orthodox depending in the area clergyman does not have to be notified either, but if you are in an area that does require the priest to be notified you would call the clergy when you received the first call. In most cases the notification of the priest is taken care of by the family and they already have had the prayer service before the call to the funeral director. • 39. My Grandmother The first time I took a risk, I was eighteen. I was sitting in my grandmother's kitchen. A large painting of "The Last Supper" hung on the wall, next to it, rosary beads hung reverently and with care. The beads swung softly as the fan circled lazily above me. I was to speak to her in a language that was denied me by my family, I was to tell her in Spanish a conversation I had countless times in English. It was a conversation I had with teachers, doctors, counselors, psychologists, religious leaders, other parents, even other family members! But ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
