This document outlines the rules and procedures for an LA 2 CP class. It discusses respecting oneself and others, following directions, appropriate classroom conduct including no food/drinks or using electronics without permission. 3. Follow directions the first time.
Any behavior that disrupts learning will not be
tolerated.
Do not bring any food or drinks to class.
Keep your desk clear: no purses, jackets, hoodies, etc.
on desk.
Electronic Devices and headphones are to be used
with teacher permission only. Otherwise these
should be put away.
DO NOT charge your device in classroom.

6. First offense: Verbal Warning
Second offense: Warning, letter, email or phone call

Subsequent offenses: Disciplinary referral

7. Sign your name and time out on the pass. Show it to
me before you leave.
5 minute rule: after 5 minutes out of the room on a lav
pass, you will be written up for misuse of pass
After 10 minutes you will be written up for cutting
class.

9. A 2 inch (minimum) 3-ring binder is recommended.
Keep all assignments! (News Flash) I am not perfect
and sometimes I miss putting assignments in my
grade book. The only proof you have is the
completed paper.
Notes will be needed for tests, papers and the final
exam.
You need a section for a journal, literature, and one
for grammar.

10. Total Points.
. The more points, the more that assignment will
affect your final grade. To determine the letter grade,
divide the top number by the bottom number. For
example, a 10/10 is full credit or 100 percent while a
9/10 would be a 90 or 90 percent.
Grading System
11. Every student begins the marking period with a 75.
This will be a test grade that will count on your
progress reports and your report card.
Participation Points
12. Exhibit any behavior that enhances the learning of
yourself or others.
Be prepared with notebook, pen or pencil and book
(if necessary).
Actively listen when instruction is being given.
Ask relevant questions.
Actively participate in individual and group work.
Volunteer to read, participate in Smartboard
activities, hand out papers, etc.
Help others when you can.
How to Earn Points
13. Exhibit any behavior that distracts from the
learning of yourself or others.
Have your phone out during class (unless given
permission).
Talking during instruction.
Off-topic discussion during group work.
Sleeping during class.
Asking to leave class on a daily basis. (including
locker, lav, etc.)
