HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION
As a step towards enabling more girls to obtain the benefits of higher education,
Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) has the distinction of being the first
College for Women in Medak District, one of the backward districts in Andhra
Pradesh. It is Established in 1981. It was sanctioned by the former Prime Minister
Indira Gandhi who contested from Medak parliamentary constituency in 1980. The
college had its modest beginning in then existing sheds of the Basic Training Centre
with 6 students, and 2 UG courses of study.
NAAC Accreditation:
In recognition of its academic quality and excellence, the National Assessment
and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous institution of the University Grants
Commission (UGC) has accredited the College with B grade in March, 2008.

The Plan of action Chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards
quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year.
PART - A
The Plan of Action
Due to lapse of duration period of the college website, it is planned to design and
reactivate it.
To make commerce lab functional and accessible to the students.
To organize VIPANI, an exhibition cum sale to develop the marketing skills of the
students.
To collaborate with Women and Child welfare Department and conduct skill
training programmes to the students.
To organize legal awareness programmes under women empowerment cell.
To monitor and review research activity to promote research culture among
students.
To tap the potential of the faculty through conducting faculty forum.
To start NCC unit in the college.
To give representation to MLA,MP & District Collector for compound wall
To start PG programs M.Com, MA Urdu and UG course in MPCs in B.Sc
As 2 contract posts were given B.Sc results are very poor. Therefore it is planned
to pursue for regular posts to be filled for B.Sc and BA UM.

 All the staff members were given opportunity to use OHP projectors, LCD
Projector and computers with internet facilities which are made available in
computer lab, JKC lab and Commerce Lab

 61% of the students were awarded Rs.1101812/- worth of scholarships
 Faculty members will provide books and financial assistance to needy

 The alumni participated in awareness programmes and motivated the

 The college has set up the career guidance cell and JKC, which will organize

JKC is striving towards the placement, at the girls are not willing to live the

42. Action Taken Report on AQAR of the previous year
 NCC unit was inaugurated on 5-7-2012
 To enrich quality education seminars, workshops, guest lectures, field visits
were organized by various departments.
 Important days like world population day, Literacy Day, Human Rights Day
National Integration Day, International Women’s Day were celebrated
 Joint Collector Sri.Murthy inaugurated the commerce lab with 20
computers and accounting, Corporate, Insurance, Taxation,
Communication related instruments
 College website was launched on 09-01-2013 by Hon’ble collector of the
district Sri.A.Dinakar Babu which was designed by Computer faculty of the
college.
 Students organized VIPANI- An exhibition cum sale of products and services
on 19-12-2012 in which 32 stalls were setup and turnover was Rs.35000/-
which was used by the students for paying their exam fees.
 Coin exhibition was arranged by the students on 19-12-2012
 To enrich knowledge commerce, Economics and Management journals were
subscribed for 3 years
 For providing safe drinking water RO unit was set up.
 To bring all round development cultural competitions sports and games
events were conducted
 Career guidance programs were arranged
 Faculty Forum was started for the benefit and enrichment of the knowledge
of the staff in various fields
 To promote research culture project works were assigned to the students.
 Women Equality Day, International Women’s Day were celebrated and Legal
awareness program on atrocities against the women was organized as part
of creating gender sensitization.
 Skill training in Tailoring and Embroidery was provided to the students for
30 days in collaboration with Women and Child Welfare Department,
Sangareddy.

 Due to lack of sufficient strength PG programs were not started
 Inspite of representations given to CCE regular posts were not sanctioned to
B.Sc & BA UM. Only 3 contract faculty for B.Sc and 1contract faculty for
BA UM were sanctioned.
 Representations were given to MLA, MP & District Collector and approached
BHEL for financial assistance under CSR
