HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION
As a step towards enabling more girls to obtain the benefits of higher education,
Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) has the distinction of being the first
College for Women in Medak District, one of the backward districts in Andhra
Pradesh. It is Established in 1981. It was sanctioned by the former Prime Minister
Indira Gandhi who contested from Medak parliamentary constituency in 1980. The
college had its modest beginning in then existing sheds of the Basic Training Centre
with 6 students, and 2 UG courses of study.
NAAC Accreditation:
In recognition of its academic quality and excellence, the National Assessment
and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous institution of the University Grants
Commission (UGC) has accredited the College with B grade in March, 2008.

The Plan of action Chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards
quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year.
PART - A
The Plan of Action
Due to lapse of duration period of the college website, it is planned to design and
reactivate it.
To make commerce lab functional and accessible to the students.
To organize VIPANI, an exhibition cum sale to develop the marketing skills of the
students.
To collaborate with Women and Child welfare Department and conduct skill
training programmes to the students.
To organize legal awareness programmes under women empowerment cell.
To monitor and review research activity to promote research culture among
students.
To tap the potential of the faculty through conducting faculty forum.
To start NCC unit in the college.
To give representation to MLA,MP & District Collector for compound wall
To start PG programs M.Com, MA Urdu and UG course in MPCs in B.Sc
As 2 contract posts were given B.Sc results are very poor. Therefore it is planned
to pursue for regular posts to be filled for B.Sc and BA UM.

The College designed and executed activities that are planned for the
accomplishment of the vision and mission. The academic work is well planned
and well executed Seminars, Remedial Classes, Quiz Programs, Debates, Role

 College website was launched on 09-01-2013 by Hon’ble collector of the

ď‚· Students organized VIPANI- An exhibition cum sale of products and services
on 19-12-2012 in which 32 stalls were setup and turnover was Rs.35000/-
which was used by the students for paying their exam fees.
ď‚· Coin exhibition was arranged by the students on 19-12-2012
ď‚· To enrich knowledge commerce, Economics and Management journals were
subscribed for 3 years

AQAR – 2012-13 GDCW, Sangareddy Page 6 HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION As a step towards enabling more girls to obtain the benefits of higher education, Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) has the distinction of being the first College for Women in Medak District, one of the backward districts in Andhra Pradesh. It is Established in 1981. It was sanctioned by the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who contested from Medak parliamentary constituency in 1980. The college had its modest beginning in then existing sheds of the Basic Training Centre with 6 students, and 2 UG courses of study. NAAC Accreditation: In recognition of its academic quality and excellence, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission (UGC) has accredited the College with B grade in March, 2008. PART - A The Plan of Action Due to lapse of duration period of the college website, it is planned to design and reactivate it. To make commerce lab functional and accessible to the students. To organize VIPANI, an exhibition cum sale to develop the marketing skills of the students. To collaborate with Women and Child welfare Department and conduct skill training programmes to the students. To organize legal awareness programmes under women empowerment cell. To monitor and review research activity to promote research culture among students. To tap the potential of the faculty through conducting faculty forum. To start NCC unit in the college. To give representation to MLA,MP & District Collector for compound wall To start PG programs M.Com, MA Urdu and UG course in MPCs in B.Sc As 2 contract posts were given B.Sc results are very poor. Therefore it is planned to pursue for regular posts to be filled for B.Sc and BA UM.
