HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION
As a step towards enabling more girls to obtain the benefits of higher education,
Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) has the distinction of being the first
College for Women in Medak District, one of the backward districts in Andhra
Pradesh. It is Established in 1981. It was sanctioned by the former Prime Minister
Indira Gandhi who contested from Medak parliamentary constituency in 1980. The
college had its modest beginning in then existing sheds of the Basic Training Centre
with 6 students, and 2 UG courses of study..
NAAC Accreditation:
In recognition of its academic quality and excellence, the National Assessment
and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous institution of the University Grants
Commission (UGC) has accredited the College with B grade in March, 2008.

Due to absence of security for the girls students without proper compound wall, it
is planned to give representation to the local and administrative leaders
It is planned to pursue for the regular staff for the BA Urdu Medium Section and
B.Sc.
It is planned to assign project works to students under UGC XI plan period under
College Development Program (Examination Reforms)

The College designed and executed activities that are planned for the
accomplishment of the vision and mission. The academic work is well planned

 All the staff members were given opportunity to use computers with internet
facilities which are made available in computer lab and JKC lab.

 70% of the students were awarded an amount of Rs.1478915/- as
scholarship
 Faculty members also provide books and financial assistance to needy
students
 4 students got merit scholarship from central government

 Members of alumni visited the college, interacted with the students and
shared their experiences.
31. Support from the Parent-Teacher Association and its activities
 Many students being first generation learners, parents were counseled at
the time of admission. But counseling to parents was under taken at the
time of admission.

 First Aid Kits are maintained in the Physical Director’s room.
 Health camp was conducted on 29th and 30th September, 2010 in which 2
medical officers and 5 nurses conducted health checkup and vitamin
supplements were provided to the students

 The college has set up the career guidance cell and JKC, which will organize
career guidance, awareness programs, workshops and personality
development programs

AQAR – 2010-11 GDCW, Sangareddy Page 7 HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION As a step towards enabling more girls to obtain the benefits of higher education, Government Degree College for Women (GDCW) has the distinction of being the first College for Women in Medak District, one of the backward districts in Andhra Pradesh. It is Established in 1981. It was sanctioned by the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who contested from Medak parliamentary constituency in 1980. The college had its modest beginning in then existing sheds of the Basic Training Centre with 6 students, and 2 UG courses of study.. NAAC Accreditation: In recognition of its academic quality and excellence, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous institution of the University Grants Commission (UGC) has accredited the College with B grade in March, 2008. PART - A The Plan of Action To start an add on course To provide coaching for competitive exams To organize seminars, awareness programs, guest lectures, workshops and skill oriented programs To organize gender sensitization programs To provide scope for field exposure and to arrange personality development, career planning programs To provide ICT enabled education Due to absence of security for the girls students without proper compound wall, it is planned to give representation to the local and administrative leaders It is planned to pursue for the regular staff for the BA Urdu Medium Section and B.Sc. It is planned to assign project works to students under UGC XI plan period under College Development Program (Examination Reforms)

Activities reflecting the Goals and objectives of the Institution The College designed and executed activities that are planned for the accomplishment of the vision and mission. The academic work is well planned and well executed. Seminars, Remedial Classes, Quiz Programs, Debates, Role Plays, Group Discussions, Slip Tests are conducted throughout the year.
