A REPORT ON THE ACTIVITIES
OF CONSUMER CLUB
The basis of any democracy is its people. Teenage students constitute the hope of
future democracy and economic development of the country. If opportunity is provided to
handle life situations will no doubt, they contribute much for the development in the form of
enlightening the citizens. Teaching and sensitizing the students in turn enlightens the citizens
of the community about the spirit of protection of consumer rights.
Therefore with this moto consumer club is formed in the college to sensitize students
about consumer issues prevailing in society and strengthen consumerism.
Vision:
To help, protect and empower consumer.
Mission:
To enable students to understand fundamental rights and duties of a consumer.
To impart knowledge about product standards, quality and about markets.
To learn about laws enacted for protection, welfare of consumers and
concerned enforcement authorities.
To develop a sense of methods of exploitation and adulteration.
To assist them in purchase decisions about importance and priorities.
Consumer club was inaugurated in our college in 2007. Every year in the first staff
meeting consumer club committee will be constituted by Head of the Institution in
consultation with IQAC and senior faculty members. Two faculty members will be
nominated as convenor and member and student also will be nominated as members for
transparency and decentralization of administration. Constitution of the committee for 2015-

Every year the consumer club conducts student seminars / workshops on consumer
protection and also arranges demo on food adulteration and water analysis, before National
Consumer Day i.e., on Dec, 24. It also conducts college level elocution and essay writing
competitions and the selected students will participate at District level and State level
competitions organized by Dept. of Consumer affairs and civil supplies , State Govt.
organization.

Impact:
The students were made aware of consumer rights and duties, the evidence was based
on the feedback received from them. Many of them felt that the programs are highly effective
and beneficial to them. Second evidence is that every year our students are bagging District
and state level prizes in the competitions organized on the eve of National Consumer Day by
Dept. of consumer Affairs and Civil Supplies, Govt. of Telangana.
