EXT. HOUSE. DAY
sound of a record player starting (the needle drop) including
the background sound of cars and wind.
in the image we see a row of middle class houses that seem
ordinary and gives the impression that things are normal.
INT.WHITE ROOM.DAY
the sound bridge begins as the white makeup desk is shown
with a wig holder with a afro clown wig, the makeup, a wig
cap, a red clown nose, a ticket, a photo which is turned
upside down and a small mirror. All of these props are lined
in order.
the makeup shown includes white face paint, makeup sponge,
coloured face paint sticks and red lipstick.
a hand with a white glove on reaches out to the desk and
picks up the wig cap, a boy who is facing his back is sitting
on a chair putting on the wig cap with two hands.
the boy applies the white face paint with a white face paint
stick, he smears the paint on the side of his cheek with no
facial expression. The boy is facing his back and is using a
small hand held mirror to apply the paint, in the reflection
is the boy applying the makeup slowly and with precision.
the boy begins to apply the red lipstick to his lips but
starts to overdraw them into large smile he applies with less
precision than the face paint. He begins to use the face
crayons to draw on his eyes, his eyes a green/blue and are
piercing. Once he's finished he places the face crayons back
on the desk but brings his hand back up again just to

straighten up the crayon so that everything is in line and in
order just how he likes it.
the boys room has posters of old rustic 1960s clown and
circus posters, they all lined in order on a white wall.
his hand reaches out to the desk to pick up a rainbow afro
wig, the boy puts up the wig to his wrinkle-less forehead and
puts on the wig and adjusts it.
the boy is wearing a white vest underneath the unbuttoned
costume, the boy is not muscular, he has the body of a young
boy. He begins to button ever slowly and carefully, once he's
buttoned up his costume he slowly straightens up his costume
making sure it's all in place and perfect.
he reaches out for his shoes from the floor, the floor is
spotless clean with no rubbish or things lying around. His
shoes are white trainers with no a spec of dirt. He puts on
his shoes and ties up is laces, once again, slowly so that
everything is right.
the boy is in his full costume, full face of makeup although
he's expressionless because one thing is missing from his
costume. the boy puts on a red synthetic sponge nose on to
his nose, he's sitting on the chair facing his back, he
reaches out to the desk to pick up a photo of a boy and a
girl that look like a couple although the boys face has been
scratched out furiously, only allowing the girls face to be
seen.
the boy begins to produce a large, over dramatic, creepy
smile as he sees the photo and that he is all done up in his
clown costume.
