As Captain and Owner, I am pleased to provide my obsevations and a recommendation for Gregory Abakhan, for
his wheelhouse and deck hand responsibilities as crew aboard the MV SOMEDAY during the 2015 Summer season.
Greg responded to our posting on the employment board at BCIT’s Marine Campus in North Vancouver and was
hired as a deck hand/crew member on the MV Someday, an under 20 meter, certified charter, 47 passenger vessel,
operating in Vancouver Harbour and Howe Sound, day and night.
In joining us for over 30 charters this summer, Greg maintained a willingness to take on all relevant duties asked
and expected of him, in a competent, professional manner that was appreciated by the passengers and crew. Greg
has excellent situational and spacial awareness at all times includiing, most importantly when at the helm. He is
absolutely excellent with passengers – with top of the line people skills in challenging situations.
Greg continues to obtain sea time towards his goal of becoming a Certified Deck Hand & challenging the Transport
Canada Exam, as he pursues his Master Limited <60 Gross Ton Ticket. I understand that he has secured all of his
relevant course confirmations at recognized marine educational facilities and has scheduled continung education
in his pursuit of these goals.
As with summer, our season ends. We wish Greg success in his journey and hope he will join us next year.
