ERB Outplacement Services

The Navy has contracted with Challenger, Gray and Christmas, Inc. (CGC) to provide
personalized career coaching and job search assistance to Sailors being released from
active duty by the FY12 Enlistment Retention Board (ERB).
CGC will begin contacting each Sailor via an introductory email on Dec. 23, 2011,
regarding the many outplacement services available to them at no cost. The ERB
Outplacement Services start on Jan. 3, 2012.
ERB-separating Sailors will be provided:
Career Assessment – CGC will evaluate each Sailor’s skills, abilities, talents and work
history, resulting in a customized career transition program. Spouses will be invited to
attend the initial consultation with the Sailor.
Professionally-produced Resume – CGC’s professional staff will write and complete
each Sailor’s resume targeted for today’s marketplace. Each Sailor will be guided in the
preparation of cover letters and other correspondence. Subject matter experts will
translate Navy ratings to civilian workforce jobs.
Job Search Coach – Each Sailor will be assigned a job search coach who proactively
works with them throughout the job search process.
Unlimited Job Search Coaching – Each Sailor will have unlimited 24/7 access to their
coach. Proactive and reactive counseling sessions will be provided.
One-on-one Best Practice Training – Each Sailor will meet individually with a coach to
learn the skills needed to conduct an effective job search. The training will be
customized for each Sailor and their specific goals.
Customized Job Search Marketing Plan – Each Sailor will work one-on-one with their
job search coach to develop a job search marketing plan and personal developmental
plan customized to their backgrounds, achievements and goals.
Interview Practice – The coach will work individually with each Sailor in role-playing
and how to best answer questions.
Networking Plan – Each Sailor will come away with a contact list and a plan for
networking both in person and through electronic social media tools, such as LinkedIn
and Facebook.
Job Leads – CGC will provide each Sailor with daily job leads customized to their
goals.
Corporate Connections/Career Fairs – CGC will reach out to companies and identify
opportunities for each Sailor affected by the FY12 ERB. Exclusive career open houses
or job fairs will be organized for these Sailors.
2. Top-of-the-Line Job Search Technology – CGC will provide Sailors with access to an
Internet-based job search center that provides market and company research, job board
links, webinars, social networking training and opportunities, online assessments,
information databases and e-learning tools.
Exclusive Job Bank – CGC will have a job bank available to Sailors.
Access to Office Locations and Career Centers – CGC will provide career centers,
including computers, scheduled workspace, telephones, copiers and other IT support,
that are located throughout fleet concentration areas.
Entrepreneurial Training – CGC will provide extensive support for those desiring to
start a business. Retirement and lifestyle support will be available for those choosing
alternative directions.
