Why is there
day and night?
A Science Mini Unit

4. Day and night is a normal part of our life here on Earth.
When we see the Sun in the sky, it is day and when we don’t, it is night.

5. Even though it looks like the Sun is moving across the sky, it never really
moves! Earth is the one moving around it, spinning at the same time.

6. As Earth spins, the Sun’s light reaches all the places
on our planet, but not at the same time.

7. It is day for those in front of the sun because they get its light.
It is night for those away from it because they don’t get any light.

8. We have daytime and nighttime because Earth spins!
